I shall be thine Basileus Autokrator! Bow before thine Divine Regent! ...On second thought, screw that. I shall be the toast that complements your scrambled eggs. Now that is simply divine. What even is this topic? -
Funny how after all these years I've wanted to try out having a blog. Let's see how this works, shall we? Feels like an advanced status update. But hey, look, i can chose an 'entry image'. Why not start with my good old "Swagilicious Octavius" edit to the sound of Rainbow's Stargazer? Alriiiight... Only thing going on right now is that i need to go back to eating properly, and i start work again next week. Found a possible replacement job so hopefully I wont need to do the present one for much longer.

3.5/5 Not a bad song. Might grow on me if I wanted to listen to it more. -
Cease thine flattery. In The Alexiad, it is described that Alexios Komnenos did not personally lead them because of a couple of things. While Alexois did expect soldiers, it was in such a multitude that he couldn't house them all in Constantinople safely, which angered the weary Crusaders and they proceeded to besiege the city. In a compromise, he would allow them to stay in a city on the other side of the Propontis, while the leaders could stay in Constantinople. While meeting with the leaders, (probably in classic Roman xenophobia) he found that though as a society they were now semi-barbarians (in contrast to the traditional view of the 'barbarian' germans and neo-latins) they were personally still like the ancient invaders that took the West, except for Godfrey of Bouillon who Anna Komnenos describes as the most civilized of them all. One of the leaders of the First Crusade (I forget which one tbh) momentarily even sat on the Throne of the Emperor, which Alexius had to initially put up with. One of the reasons that Alexios didn't help lead the First Crusade is because he didn't trust the new flow of warrior monks and pilgrims to not besiege the Roman capital while away from court. In looking out for his own neck and the safety of his people, he also purposefully misdirected the first to group to go into the newly-conquered Turkish territories in Anatolia because they were brutal and resistant to Rhomaion authority (in their own claimed land), and most of that first group were slain by the Seljuks. The remaining forces were much less unruly and they were used appropriately. And when Antioch was taken, The Alexiad ends with a lengthy treaty between Bohemond Guisscard and Alexios Komnenos, which recognized the Principality of Antioch as being part of Roman Imperial authority. But Bohemond as taught by his dad Robert wasn't the most trustworthy person, and after Alexios' death by gout, Antioch stopped with the charade of being a vassal and acted independent until it and the Kingdom of Jerusalem were brought under Roman influence by Manuel I Komnenos (and lasted until his death). Now for some related, but actually useful information.

1.5/5 Musically groovy but the lyrics are gross. I prefer the more fantasy oriented songs of his. -
The Clone Wars is back!

Glad to hear it! A shame there probably wont be a direct tie-in to Episode III like the Gendy Tartokovsky's Clone Wars series, but it is better for it to wrap up what was done then just leave it eternally in a shelved purgatory. -

You've heard of our first Supreme Overlord Hypno-Toad. But by will of the Celestial Space-Frog, he has passed. Introducing his heir, the Hypnotoran! I think that was only a thing done at Roman Triumphs after the tradition of the laurel leaf crown ended with the purging of pagan practices by Emperor Theodosius I. Only emperor that I can think of that liked to wear a feathered crown outside of a Triumph was Emperor Heraclius, who is the great-grandfather of the man in my avatar and i recently shared a picture of elsewhere on this website. He wouldn't have worn it while out at war, which unfortunately that was most of his reign.

The Clone Wars is back!
The Hip Historian Iaredios replied to CommanderKumo's topic in Completely Off Topic
While i welcome it's return (last great thing about Star Wars before it's abandonment by it's creator), i won't get emotional over it. But i am slightly curious on how it will go, as the original run was personally overseen by George Lucas, and after his open disdain of how the franchise has gone I highly doubt that he will be let near this rebirth of the series. Lets hope it is able to finish it's run up to Episode III without the Taint of Mickey nor bear overly forced tie-ins to Rebels (some are fine). -
