The Island Of Pain

IC: Irriane / Parched Wastes Irriane created a dome of fire around her, then bursted it out. Instead of sand, she was now covered in crystalline glass. Turning to Jontan, she caused flames to wrap around the sand creatures entire body, and one of the bolts to streak out and turn the needles into a pile of ash. -Toa Levacius Zehvor :flagusa:

OOC: Hey, I wasn't with the group when that happened, so... :P IC - Nostala - Parched Wastes; fighting Rastaque: The advantage of her Mask of Disguise was that it created minor illusions; as such, while she appeared only as a simple coyote Rahi to Rastaque at the moment, she was still free to use her bow staff to smack away the needles -- which she did. Knocking the pieces of metal out of the way, she landed right behind where Rastaque had been standing before. The coyote illusion smacked the ground with its left front paw; Nostala hit the ground with her bow staff. The result was the same, however: A fairly big cloud of sand was launched straight at her opponent's face.

IC: Rynekk Rynekk groaned and looked up. He was surrounded by sand, in the company of a Rock Lion, and two Toa who seemed to be fighting dirt. It's official. I've gone insane, he thought. IC: Plagia Plagia saw Rynekk land and decided on a new plan of action. She tore off her Calix, rolling towards her brother, grabbing him and activating her Hau at the same time. 'Sorry Greel,' she called back as she ran through the wall of sand. -Void

OOC: Did I mention tons of sand? As in, a lot? And also, there's the fact that glass doesn't crystallize instantly. Instead, you would have just covered yourself in lots of scalding, sticky, molten glass, which will solidify soon, and more sand is coming down on you. If, for example, you focused on an escape path and tried to push yourself through that (albeit still likely receiving severe burns), it'd be fine. However, as is, you just made your situation much worse. Also, this is sand that is trying to kill you, not just sitting there for you to run through it. Try running through the ground sometime and tell me what happens. =P

Rastaque/Parched Wastes, Bleeding the Wolf Fighting Nostala\IC: Rastaque flipped again to the side flinging more needles at parts that would be deadly on the wolf, and would likely induce pain upon Nostala. He just had to finish this before this thing's owner came.

-==IC: Kairan==- Kairan's eyebrow twitched, as his left hand did as well.Note to self: When you get off this island, go and try to scan the universe for all avsas, and destroy them. ALL of them. Kairan noted, as he growled slightly, and fired three lightning bolts at Jontan in rapid succession, even as the sand wielder neared. Kairan then narrowed his eyes, and gripped his sword, hoping the sand wielder was within striking distance, as he sliced out at him quickly.

IC - Nostala - Parched Wastes: Nostala simply leaped to the side, avoiding the needles once more. If Rastaque could have seen her face, he would have seen the cold, analyzing eyes behind the happy-go-lucky Miru-shaped mask that she wore. Surely this isn't all he is capable of... the Artanian thought. She ran forward, her disguise opening its mouth and baring its teeth as she snarled, before the disguise literally shattered as Nostala hurled her staff at her opponent. The metal pole swung horizontally as it raced through the air towards Rastaque; right behind it, Nostala ran and kicked off, aiming her foot at his mid-section. OOC: Artana-KIIIICK!!

Jontan and Rastaque/Parched Wastes, Fighting Kairan, Nostala, and the Rest of Their Group\IC: Jontan launched himself into a flip, soaring over the bolts and slashed downwards. If he could make this last for a minute, Kairan would likely be too tired and sapped of energy to defend himself. That... was different. Rastaque was only barely able to dodge in time, the staff catching him on the side. However, this slowed it down, making it able to be grabbed and thrust straight toward its flying owner. With his Sanok letting him turn it into a projectile, this would likely spear her through the heartlight.

OOC: That is a ludicrous amount of sand. You said 'wall of sand' not 'I'm gonna lift the entire parched wastes and crush you under it with every little ounce of my elemental power'. IC: Irriane / Parched Wastes Irriane rushed as the sand began collapsing. Small pieces of glass were covering her armor as she rushed out, just barely making it. With a wave of her hand, she created a disk of fire that materialized directly in front of Ratasques face, blinding him and exposing him to its heat, and with a large amount of concentration, she summoned multiple tendrils of fire that wrapped around Jontan until they formed a solid wall, blocking him from line of sight. The heat was so intense the sand under Jontans feet was turning to glass. Despite being slightly different in make for being an elemental, and not any normal sand - as a torches light is from the flames of toa of fire - he was likely going to undergo a simliar process. "Surrender!" she shouted out to the pair, who were hopelessly overmatched. -Toa Levacius Zehvor :flagusa:

OOC: The entire Parched Wastes? Definitely not. I had stated multiple times that this wall was large and getting larger. He was making it to block Greel from everyone else. As this didn't happen, however, he put the sand he had to use. It doesn't take that much sand to start racking up in weight. I said the wall was surrounding you and had already collapsed, by the way. Also, he's a toa with a sand elemental infused into his body, not made of sand.

Jontan and Rastaque/Parched Wastes, Fighting Kairan, Nostala, etc.\IC: This toa was definitely powerful if she had escaped that easily. Leaving the sand collapsed with its weight upon Greel and the others, he focused on getting himself out of this. He was definitely going to have to find a way to fight fire... As he was falling from his aerial slash, the hybrid-toa was hard to get a good grip on. But the fire did wrap around the sand that surrounded him in defense. Once he hit the ground, he left the shell to crystallize while he simply dropped beneath the ocean of sand. Jontan switched masks so he could see clearly underground. In just a few moments, Irriane was going to find herself swallowed by sand with a sword through her back. Rastaque, of course, was unable to keep himself from his own momentum. The toa tried his best to dodge, and as soon as he could he was tossing sand onto the burning parts of himself. Of course, Nostala would now have a staff through her heart and the rest of her being immolated.

IC - Nostala - Parched Wastes: The Artanian most certainly did not have a staff in her heart. As she had been following behind the staff as closely as possible, her kick had connected right after it had, throwing off Rastaque's ability to effective throw it at her; all that he managed to do was try to shove it into her, which she was able to block with her free foot by using Rastaque's chest as a ground to quickly swing it around. Her enhanced physical abilities were very useful in situations like these. Rolling to the side, she grabbed her staff, ready for another go -- just in time to see the fire on Rastaque's face and the sand he was throwing around. "Who in their right mind would attack a group that outnumbers you four to one?" she asked. "Definitely not your best choice, bud."

OOC: Wow. Nice. XD

Rastaque/Parched Wastes, Fighting Nostala\IC: Rastaque got up with two hands full of needles. "Jontan and I are different from most people. We've gained some infamy on the island. Not much, of course, due to most everyone we meet dying. Anyways, he's a member of Team Patronage, and I have been a punch away from killing another member. We don't do things normally. We just kill everyone we don't like," he replied, licking his lips. With a snarl, he threw all of the needles, creating a large spread that was flying to stab through anything.

OOC: Thank you. ^_^ IC - Nostala - Parched Wastes:Nostala narrowed her eyes. Most beings would try to dodge to the side in this kind of situation; luckily, she wasn't one of them. With precision that could have matched that of an Akaku user, she ran forward several feet before falling and beginning to slide, her staff moving in a flurry of metal that glinted in the moonlight. Having cleared just enough space towards the bottom to slide underneath the needle wall, she emerged unscathed on the other side -- save for a cut on her arm where she had missed one, though she ignored it. Rolling to her feet, she ran forward again, taking a swipe at Rastaque's feet with her staff before sliding to another position behind him. "You'll have to excuse me for my ignorance -- but Team Patronage? Who are they?" she asked. It was an honest question -- over the past month she had been more concerned with thinking about her situation than paying attention to the Shepherds' games. As such, her knowledge of Team Patronage -- as well as the Caches and, actually, the Caretakers, as well -- was limited.

IC: Irriane / Parched Wastes Irriane picked up a small rock, bounced it in her hand, and threw it at Ratasque as an improvised attack, and began firing small, concentrated fire attacks that, much like Ratasques needles, were small and accurate rather than large and explosive. They also took a lot less energy. "I don't know much either," said Irriane to Nostala. "I've been on the island for a very short time, and learned only a small amount from another. All I know is that they're slaves of the Shepherds who get better equipment in exchange for being their personal servants. Being on Patronage means you killed the one from before. They're good, better than the standard slave. But you survived some kind of demon monster, didn't you? I doubt Patronage is more deadly than some kind of demon monster. IC: Suicavel / Toothy Bane Suicavels body was still healing. His adobe was safe and secure, and he had taken care to hide himself deep into the mountain. A very good cave. At the time, he rested in the center of a number of dead matoran. A group of travelers dropped off, the four of them he had found moving into the cave. He toyed with them, used solid shadows to trick them. It had been fun, but delayed his recharge time by quite a bit. Still, he was almost fully healed, despite being low on elemental energy. "How inconvenient...." he thought to himself. "To be low on elemental energy when night falls. Now, this entire night must be wasted. I will not be recharged before morning, and I can't fight at maximum power during the day. And worst, I didn't have enough energy to take the Cartakers and find their leader." Occupying himself by ripping one of the matoran to small pieces - a very morbid game that would have left even a battle hardened Skakdi distressed - he thought about escape. He doubted he would ever escape the island. IC: Levacius / Parched Wastes "My lord!" said the lieutenant, kneeling down. "Marquis Levacius! The troops have successfully defeated the enemy!" "I expected as much. The Storm Guard are more than a match for any group. Still, hiring Skakdi was resourceful of them." "Indeed. Of course, the one thing you always have to worry about is that they're stupid, but cunning all the same. They'll feign defeat, but in reality they're preparing a new attack." Levacius grinned as the hilt came closer. How fitting this Skakdi had tried to play himself defenseless, whilst the whole time he had been planning to attack. Still, it was all in the plan. Since when had a Skakdi allied with a toa? That was a whole 'nother story. IC: Sledge / Well at least he's off the island... In Sledges mind, closed off to the external world, he thought about what awaited him. The Shepherds undoubtedly had torture in mind. Retraining. It would be pain, but he had experienced pain. They wouldn't kill him. He was too useful. Of course, nobody is ever too useful. Still, he was outside of the island. They would need him conscious, but they wouldn't need to give a great kanohi to do it. He would be weakened, and well guarded. But he though about Trian and Felix, trapped on the island. Even that toa of psionics. None of them deserved that island. Perhaps once he was off the island, in the Shepherds base, he would have a very rare opprotunity - to find a way to free them. IC: Arillan / Parched Wastes, Ruin Arillan, Team Patronage member and toa of air, rested in the pool of water. Taking a good, long drink of the water he sat in, he pondered on escaping the island. Life was good for him as it was now, but one day this water would dry. He would need to leave, eventually. Eventually, he would need to turn Laelius into a pin cushion, leave that sand being swept across the parched wastes as a million grains of dust - whether he was sand or not didn't matter, there's always a may to make someone into a million grains of dust if you know how. Through use of his gravity powers, he was holding an Observer under the water, eyeball facing down. Crushing it, he pulled up the pieces and disposed of them on the side. That was the third one he had caught spying around. The Shepherds certainly had a lot of these things, though eventually his liking of privacy would lead to them having some problems. He took off the mask, which turned grey upon being removed, and placed his own Crast on. Placing the Garai back into his back, he once again thought about a suva. First deal of business upon leaving the island - no, while on the island - kill three more toa. Second thing, build a suva. That one would take place off the island. And he had no idea how to build one.Huh. Four more toa. -Toa Levacius Zehvor :flagusa:

IC - Nostala - Parched Wastes: "Sounds like a waste of time, if you ask me," Nostala responded curtly to Irriane. "Team Patronage sounds exactly like the scum that I always have to fight my way through to finish my missions on other islands; they fight for the corrupt officials of groups like the Shepherds in the hopes that when the proper time comes, they will be spared while the rest of the world burns. It's pathetic; they would rather let their own suffer than fight back and help them. But I digress -- my words are probably falling on deaf ears at this point."

Jontan and Rastaque/Parched Wastes, Fighting Nostala, Kairan, etc.\IC: As Nostala slid under him, Rastaque aimed a kick for her face. He didn't like talking too much, so he was pleased that one of their enemies had explained for him. This also let their guard down, and if he knew Jontan, the hybrid-toa would strike any moment. Still, he had to survive. Thus, he grabbed onto Nostala's shoulder and flipped himself over her, attempting to toss her into the attacks of Irriane. Sure enough the sand beneath Irriane suddenly split and swallowed her up, letting her fall for a few bio before closing around her again. Jontan awaited at the bottom, thrusting forward with his sword using his augmented vision. She hopefully wouldn't have a clue what happened until he had stabbed her heartlight in just a moment.

Trian/Eastern Ashring\IC: They had escaped, but they were tired. Trian was still unconscious, and Felix was barely staying awake. Just over the Yawning Sunder was a small pool of water, but would Trian have enough strength to summon something to get them there?

-==IC: Kairan==- However, Jontan quickly found a hand on his shoulder."Where are you going?" The Toa of Lightning asked with a smirk on his face, as he simply resorted to a punch."Wondering how I'm still standing? You made a mistake. I'm going to assume an Avsa isn't exactly your most skilled mask to use." Kairan stated, as he continued to smirk."Team Patronage... I couldn't really care less for them, for the exact reasons Nostala just said. They're direct slaves of the Shepards? Heh, that just means that they too are my enemies." Kairan said, still confident that the surprise had been enough for Jontan to have his guard dropped so that punch would connect.

IC: Irriane / Parched Wastes Irriane managed to turn around and begin hurling fireballs down. That distraction, combined with Kairan - how he got down here, she didn't care, was too much for Jontan to keep holding the sword, and she landed, albeit not gracefully, next to him. Hands burning with an inferno, she grabbed onto Jontans chest. -Toa Levacius Zehvor :flagusa:

OOC: So many posts... I can barely keep up... :dazed: IC: Parched Wastes Sand, molton sand, and shards of glass burst from the grainy, suffocating ground in a great blast, flying outward. Rocky emerged, with Greel on his back, far away from the blazing, white-hot mane. All around them, the said materials flew, caught in a telekinetic grip, and other objects that came close enough. In another massive blast, all of it shot outward away from the Rahi and rider. Greel and his pet looked damaged, but now they felt a fury inside them, especially Rocky. They raced across the sand at an amazing speed, seeking out Jontan and Rastaque, using Rocky's sense of smell to determine their unfamiliar scent. OOC: @ Rakata: She can still react to the force bolts, they'll fly towards her in the air. IC: Parched Wastes Vertan fired more eyebeams at Amalia as he fell, and felt something from behind. Yes, his spikes had touched something, and then that something tried to hit his neck. Unfortunately, this failed, as his spine was in the way. Now Levacius had a giant Skakdi falling ontop him, with him twisting sideways to get a better view of what he was falling on. His claws flailed around in the air, and his eyes glowed again as he fell...

IC: Levacius / Parched Wastes Levacius spun with the Skakdi, grabbing onto one of the largest spikes on the spine with his left hand, and with his right hand reversing the blade so that the tip was pointing up from his fist, but the edge was facing him. Wrapping the blade around the Skakdis neck as he fell, Levacius used the larger creatures momentum so that, rather than on his back, Vertan would fall on his face. However, as the agile lightning toa was attempting to cut Vertans throat - and was sending electricity through is body and into Vertan via his spike - his opponent would likely be dead before he hit the ground unless he thought of some way out of the trap. -Toa Levacius Zehvor :flagusa:

OOC: Looks like I got lucky again. IC: Parched Wastes Using his sense of smell, Rocky had followed the unfamiliar scent of Rastaque, and found him as he jumped over Nostala. The Air Toa might have evaded Irraine's fire attacks, but now he had another coming right towards hims: the fiery, white-hot mane of a Rock Lion. Teeth clenched, the Rahi dashed forward, claws aimed for Rastaque while Greel focused telekinetic attacks on him, such as punches, kicks, and pushes. IC: Parched Wastes Vertan's impact eyebeams had bought him time; blasting into the ground where Levacius had once been and blowing sand into the air, temporarily blinding them both. Before the Lightning Toa grabbed one of his spikes, the Skakdi felt the Toa move with him with his waving arms, and pushed him off. The blade was gone, and Levacius' electric attack had been reduced, delivering only a painful jolt that tore a short scream from Vertan.

OOC: I would like to point out again that ToD's last attack on Nostala could not have happened the way that it was described...but meh. whatevs. IC - Nostala - Parched Wastes: Nostala rolled out of the way as Rastaque somehow kicked her in the face while standing up and then flipped over her shoulder. Somehow. While she was apparently sliding. Regaining her senses, she used the same move as before -- quickly moving around Rastaque and swinging at his leg, prepared to dodge Rocky if it became apparent that he would run into her.

IC: Levacius / Parched Wastes Levacius' plan didin't go perfect. Still, the Skakdi was unable to respond to the attack as fast as normal due to the electricity. Levacius was already a good distance away, and even if Vertan charged, the Skakdi would find it hard to get close to him. "You are a fool, Skakdi, to think you can take me in combat, let alone with assistance. I freed you from the caging, and perhaps some glimmer of hope remained that your kind could negotiate. But apparently not." Sadly, the rhoutaka from Amalia would never hit, being destroyed as a second cage formed. The top was about four inches above Vertans head, and the space of the cage was a circle of three Bio in diameter. The cage extended under the ground about five Bio as well. It was domed. The electricity was thick, and the spaces were too small for Vertan to even fit his hand through. Levacius approached, saying, "This will be your prison. And now, with the help of my mask of dimensional gates, I can send you to another realm..." In his own mind, Levacius put to his surface thoughts a plan he hoped Amalia would accept. The idea was to make it seem to Vertan, with illusions, that his mask was glowing. A fake dimensional gate - not even Levacius had seen that mask in action, so Vertan wouldn't know the difference between it and reality with any luck. The illusion, upon the gate covering Vertan, would be changed to blackness, then him in the sky. He would be in a cage, exactly like this one, made out of solid crystal, unbreaking to his every attack. Thousands of such cages were as far as the eye can see, all hanging, like this one, on the branches of a massive tree of crystal, with alien, crystal like beings crawling around it. Admittedly, Levacius thought it would be pretty cool to be able to do that himself. And hoped such a dimension didn't exist. That would suck. -Toa Levacius Zehvor :flagusa:

OOC: Not even going to ask how Kairan teleported a few bio underground, can talk through sand, and threw a punch without control over said substance. Moving on to Rastaque, I assumed that she was still sliding when she attacked; thus, Rastaque would jump over her, kick at her as he lands, and then grab her shoulder. But in any case...

Jontan and Rastaque/Fighting Kairan, Nostala, etc.\IC: The sand, which was surrounding them, making it pitch black and movement rather hard, would have kept either attack from hitting Jontan. As he could feel their attempted motions through the sand, he was able to know where they would travel. Thus, the hybrid-toa decided to let them hit each other, and thus removed all the sand that would impede their attacks. To avoid them, he pseudo-swam to the side, leaving them just about to connect in the darkness. The sand around them was also attempting to squeeze their bodies to pulp. It did, indeed, seem that Rocky was going to plow through Rastaque and Nostala, and all three would be devoured by the maelstrom. Thinking as fast as he could, Rastaque grabbed two handfuls of needles, flung them at each incoming enemy, then used the rock lion's face to flip over the shadow attack. Admittedly, his foot was now very badly burned, but he wasn't as bad off as those two likely were. Nostala could very well have been able to dodge Rocky, but the maelstrom could very likely be a different story. OOC: An advantage to fighting multiple enemies: their attacks are likely to hit each other if dodged. XP

OOC: If I didn't make it clear, this is pitch blackness, and he removed only enough sand to let the attacks through. But anyways...

Rastaque/Fighting Nostala and Co.\IC: The broadsword, however, was not intangible. Rastaque grabbed the flat of the blade as best he could between his hands. Stopping it only after it had just begin to slice into his shoulder, the toa grunted and used the sword as a projectile. This new projectile he threw right into its owner's other attack. Of course, he would likely go flying with it. In any case, Rastaque did his best to get out from under the mess and escape to the top of a nearby dune. As he ran, the toa glanced behind and flung needles at where his opponents would likely be in moments.

OOC: Hey Emissary, unless you also teleported underground and can talk through sand, Kairan isn't available. ;) And Jontan is currently in the sand, out of sight. As I just emphasized, he only removed enough sand for the two attacks to go through. This means their eyes would likely still be covered. Will respond with him in my next post.

Rastaque/Parched Wastes, Fighting Nostala and Co.\IC: Rastaque was, however, a few bio away, atop a dune, rapidly flinging groups of needles at all below him. In a few moments, he had already flung a few dozen at each of the combatant and the areas around them.

IC: He woke as the sleeping drugs wore off and his crate was dropped by something. He hit the side that was the entrance and exit with his head but some robot jabbed at him through the bars with an electrified staff. He backed off. The robot unlocked the cage and seemed to disappear. He slowly crawled out of the cage wary of traps. After making sure it was safe enough he stood up and sniffed the air. Dropping back down on all fours he scanned the area. He did not know where he was. He then slammed up against he cage and knocked it over. He attacked the cage as if it was the reason he was here. Being made out of ordinary metal the cage was quickly smashed and broken into smaller metal parts. He then howled at the sky as a sign of his victory against the metal cage. OOC: Gonna bring this up... the Parched Wastes isn't mostly sand. It was part of the Shadowtangle that dried up. It's probably mostly rocks underneath, so you wouldn't be able to move through the sand very quickly. So really, according to my logic, your hole, seeing as below would be mostly rock and soil, could not exist. But we will ignore this. IC: Irriane / Parched Wastes Seeing as the attacks were completely useless, Irriane looked around. Somehow she happened to be trapped in the one hole of nothing but sand in the entire Parched Wastes. And was surrounded by sand. Taking a deep breath, she thought of her most reckless plan yet. Superheating the area around her, she caused the sands to turn into liquid, molten glass. The glass could not solidify around her, and as she moved up through it, it was more like boiling water. As a fire toa, the heat was not lethal, but painful all the same. She managed to pull herself up and out of the ground. She was saddened to leave Kairan trapped, but... She rushed over to a large, stony area. The sand being couldn't hope to swim up onto it. She stopped the superheating, which turned where she walked to glass, and began panting, exhausted. Elemental energy was low... but she had to be ready. OOC: What? You explain something better to do when your power is fire. IC: Arillan / Parched Wastes "What the..." thought Arillan, standing atop his small fortifications tower. Just off in the distance, a cage had been delivered. "So..." he thought to himself. "They're leaving me a new slave to hunt." Narrowing in, he saw not a slave, but some kind of Rahi. He shrugged, and turned back. No use wasting his time hunting some rahi. Rahi never have good equipment on them... He went back into his lair, to the cool water. How long would this night last? It was so hard to sleep with so much racing through his head, though, so he was thankful for it. -Toa Levacius Zehvor :flagusa:

OOC: ...I've honestly never thought about that. Still, erosion, more drying out, time, etc. would leave more and more as sand. What isn't Jontan could move to the side, or grind up into sand...

Jontan and Rastaque/Parched Wastes, Fighting Nostala, Kairan, etc\IC: Jontan also moved to the surface, letting the sand and glass all collapse upon Kairan. As he stood a few bio away from Irriane, sword and shield at the ready, he switched masks back to his Avsa. Sneering, he whispered, "Come and get me, firebreather." There were disadvantages to intangibilty. mainly the fact that everything could go through you. Furthermore, if you solidified, anything that was within you would push aside however much of your mass that it would take. Rastaque flipped out of the way of the shadow bolts, flinging sand into the air as he did so this sand then swirled around Orssa. Rastaque tossed some needles into the miniature tornado, which would keep anything but more dust from his opponent's sight. If he solidified, he would instantly find that it wouldn't work that well. If he moved, he would find the powerful dust devil following him.The effort took a lot out of Rastaque, but, hopefully this would eliminate at least one opponent. OOC: Gtg.

OOC: I was just looking for something silly to point out. There's always something. IC: Irriane / Parched Wastes Irrianes hands were immediately caught up in a blaze of fire, and she stared forward. "I think you're the one who has to come and get me!" she replied, waving her arms into the air and calling down a barrage of fire balls. The sky turned orange as dozens of huge, explosive balls of fire (each was one foot diameter and had a five foot diameter burst around them when they blew up) began raining down around Jontan. This served either two functions for her - take out Jontan... or get him to go back under the sand. -Toa Levacius Zehvor :flagusa:
