  1. I kinda meant more like if that Matoran had lived in the forest his entire life, pretty much on his own, and had never seen a "true" Toa but instead spent time around some heroically-inclined Ash Bears. It's just a hypothetical situation, even though it'd be extremely unlikely in the actual story. I'm just wondering how far the "idea of what a Toa looks like" thing can be stretched. :PPersonally I'm leaning more toward the idea that all Matoran have some sort of "base code" in their minds that provides them with a general template of a humanoid Toa's appearance that they fill in with their own details, thus resulting on only-humanoid Toa.
  2. Whatever they imagined a Toa would look like when they transformed into one. I've often wondered what the limits to this are, though. I mean, say a Matoran had grown up in the forest around Ash Bears and for some reason they became his idea of a "Toa"; if he were to become a Toa himself, would he look like an Ash Bear or would he still acquire a humanoid form but with Ash-Bear-like qualities?
  3. Oh, sure. (My formatting lacks finesse, though, which is why I didn't just do that initially, although I was wondering why I kept getting logged out. ) 9) If I had to pick one, I don't know ... I lean toward Matoro, but I think bringing him back would cheapen his sacrifice.
  4. Might be worth searching the old OGD for if anyone's up to it. He doesn't directly state it, but it is strongly implied quite far down the page in Onua Krom's post: Not really any more need for this link thenAlso, that post reminded me of another disintegrated character: Ancient. (Though I'm not quite sure how I feel about the "Disintegration Exemption" theory yet.)Off-topic meta-moment: I just realized that some of my own questions/responses from Greg are on that page, albeit under my old username.
  5. I actually suggested the same thing not too long ago; I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the two could be connected. I really think that there's a lot more to that gateway than we've been told.
  6. The Nuva Symbols themselves are meant to store the Toa Nuva's excess powers, similar to an external hard drive. As for the Nuva Cube, I'm not sure. The whole thing seems awfully convenient. I mean, didn't Artakha teleport the Nuva Cube to the Bohrok nests? Well, how did he know that that was where he needed to send it? I don't remember anything prophesizing a battle between the Toa and the Bahrag, which is probably because it wasn't intended to happen. The Bohrok were never meant to be awakened until Mata Nui was ready to leave Aqua Magna, and as such, the Bahrag were never meant to be imprisoned in a Toa Seal. And since that was never supposed to happen, then how does the Nuva Cube just happen to be tied to the Bahrag's Toa Seal?
  7. And yet Takutanuva's page lists the movie ending. :PBut in cases like these, I generally go with novels > movies, since Greg has often cited artistic license (as DJ Vezon pointed out) as the reason for canon contradictions (as in the "Aqua Magna fragment vs Bota Magna" dispute during the Battle of Bara Magna). Though to be fair, the MoL novel was a Hapka work, which are generally considered non-canon.
  8. 1) Oh, okay. Sorry. I misunderstood.2) On that one I had just seen several people say stuff like "Velika always spoke in riddles and he built the multi-shot Zamor Launchers so maybe his true nature was planned all along" which didn't make sense to me. I viewed it as more of a retroactive thing, which I'm sure that it is. Okay, maybe "within the realm of possibility" was a bad choice of words. I meant to say something like, "how could these things have been planned ahead of time if the circumstances (i.e. the idea of having a renegade GB hiding out in the Matoran Universe, which from what I understand was only conceived as a plot point in 2011) surrounding these revelations only came into existence recently?" Of course, I agree that new information is still good at this point, I just don't get why so many people are assuming that this new information has really been a secret, planned fact for a long time and is only now coming out.Although I somehow managed to forget that the idea of "beings living in the Red Star" has been around since well before 2011, so I guess that's a moot point on my end.
  9. [bold and red emphasis mine]Whoa. Red Star, red...This would seem to give extremely strong evidence that this revelation was planned since then. Of course, if the sendback wasn't working by then we run into problems here. But maybe this device was a secondary system that mimicked it, just for the Stairs' purpose. Anywho... interesting apparent clue.Ahhhh. Alright, I can see where you're going with that. But while I like the idea, I was under the impression that the plots of the post-cancellation serials were only planned out once the main storyline ended, like a Post-Script Season. I may be wrong, but that's what I don't get about everyone saying that the Red Star being a recycle bin and Velika being a GB could have been planned from 2006+; it doesn't seem like those were even in the realm of possibility at the time. I mean, wasn't there a completely different plot lined up in case the sets hadn't been cancelled? Something involving Bota Magna and the Element Lords? It just seems to me like all this new information only became a possibility due to the spontaneity of the post-cancellation serials. If my notion is wrong, then please, correct me. I am truly confused.
  10. Actually I think you're right about Roodaka. From BS01: "With training and focus, especially on the associated emotions of anger and aggression, any being can develop limited Shadow powers, such as Roodaka." So her powers are limited and non-elemental (which I, too, would attribute to the lack of Elemental Powers in the Vortixx; the Makuta, from what I understand, had pre-existing Elemental Shadow powers, so their training probably just augmented those powers to a substantial degree.)Also from BS01: "In the Matoran Universe, Shadow was originally considered to have no moral connotations, being no more good or evil than any other Element. It became associated with evil after the Brotherhood of Makuta's corruption." Now, I'm not trying to disprove your idea about the banishment of their inner light being an underlying cause for their change in personality (though not all of them become evil, per se), I'm simply verifying my previous statement. Although personally, I do agree with your idea. Yeah, a "mental link." That's a good way to put it.
  11. I generally lean more towards the novelization's depiction of the event wherein Takutanuva was forced to defuse due to the strain put on him by holding the gate open; when it crashed, Teridax's armor was demolished (though his Antidermis managed to leak out) and Takanuva's body split from the fusion in the milliseconds before their body was completely crushed.
  12. No, they had inner light initially. It's just that later on, they made a collective decision to shun their inner light for some reason (I recall it having to do with becoming "stronger," but I'm not completely sure). They did so through a rigorous meditative process that I believe required them to focus on negative emotions. Roodaka also went through this process. Nevertheless, Shadow wasn't always associated with evil in the Matoran Universe. That correlation only came about after the Brotherhood's rebellion. However, I thought it was possible to shun your inner shadow. In fact, I was under the impression that this was exactly the case with the Melding Makuta, as Alt. Teridax said this: "A Makuta must be a being utterly without doubt, or fear, or any trace of shadow, so it takes long years of meditation before one is ready to assume the title." This was brought up again during the final battle between Teridax and Mata Nui; Teridax could "feel" the death of his Rahkshi fleet when Tahu used the Golden Armor to incinerate them; this was actually pivotal in defeating Teridax, as it provided Mata Nui with just enough of an opportunity to exploit Teridax's distraction and push him into the oncoming Aqua Magna fragment.
  13. Something occurred to me; if the MU inhabitants did have an afterlife, where exactly would that leave Sentrakh? o.O
  14. I know this is probably just a more abstract version of the Water/Ice and Stone/Earth debates, but I've been wondering...since lightning is plasma, then couldn't a Toa of Plasma control lightning? Also, on a mostly-unrelated note, can Toa of Lightning control general electricity, or is their domain restricted solely to actual lightning?
  15. It's not just a matter of mental capacity - the mask has to have a certain amount of energy to have an effect. If a Toa donned a Matoran mask, it wouldn't give him any power at all, regardless.BS01 said it was mental capacity, so I went with that. If it isn't, then perhaps his mask simply isn't a Matoran mask.
  16. I really do love that we're getting all of this information. Indicative of "closure" as it may be, I'm still hopeful. But I'll take it for what it is. Still, there remain other loose ends, like:-His plans for Marendar, TSO, and Alt. Teridax-The fate of the Mahri, the characters in the GB Fortress, the new Toa Team/Gelu and Lewa-All of the Mavrah/Red Star-related stuff-The green cloud's identity-The Skakdi Fusion's name (this one has been bugging the heck out of me)-Minor ones here, but the destinies of Takanuva and KrakuaAND I hope that one day we'll know most or, ideally, all of this information, but any update is satisfactory to me.
  17. Greg confirmed a long time ago that Teridax is totally and indisputably dead.
  18. For the Glatorian, Agori, Great Beings, etc. maybe, but the MU characters are just machines that developed personalities (but I kinda do like the above theory).Although there's still the whole issue about Mavrah being in the Red Star...
  19. Well, I know that BS01 says he abandoned them, but was that ever officially stated? He could have just put them into storage and switched to the Light Staffs (it's "Staves" >.>) for a while. And if not, well, that's my headcanon and I'm sticking to it, because I too prefer the Lance/Skyblaster.Also, what VIII. Axel said.
