  1. I have to disagree about Marth being garbage. I've had plenty of losses in For Glory, but one of the few times I've been absolutely trashed was by a Marth. Think I got in something like two hits on him... Not that I think my own experiences are indicative of the future metagame - I kind of suck, you know - but I do believe that Marth's perceived nerfs don't [E: may not] weaken him nearly as much as people seem to believe. His playstyle may have changed, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's gotten worse. He may have, but time will tell, I guess. I too liked Falco in Brawl, but I haven't spent much time on him in Smash 4. I could tell from the first time I played him that his taunts got hard nerfed though. 0/10 no more bread.
  2. In order of hype: 1. Lucas - Favorite character in Brawl. Still upset that he was cut. And before anyone claims (as someone inevitably does) that he won't be back because Ness took his specials, please refer to Doc, Lucina, and EPit. 2. Wolf - Second favorite character in Brawl. Also still upset that he was cut. Playtime's not over yet, my friends. Believe. 3. Snake - He's Snake. Honestly I think he still has a pretty good chance of making it in. 4. Ice Climbers - I didn't play them much but Smash just doesn't feel right without them ya feel. I'm predicting that they'll be announced alongside the official international announcement of the New 3DS as a New 3DS/Wii U exclusive and that they'll actually be released alongside Mewtwo next spring, since it's likely that a good deal of work was put into them before they were cut. 5. Isaac - He was one of my most wanted newcomers, and the fact that no Golden Sun references appear in Smash 4 at all is pretty suspicious. 6. Ray - Not quite as excited about him as about Isaac, but, like Golden Sun, Custom Robo isn't mentioned in Smash 4 in any form, leading me to believe that something bigger is on the way. Also, the concept of Custom Robo fits in very nicely with equipment/moveset customization. I'd also be thrilled if we got Ridley or K Rool, but the former has basically no chance (unless he appears in his original form, as opposed to his Other M form that we see on Pyrosphere) and the latter I really doubt we'll see for some reason. Probably related to the fact that Sakurai has demonstrated time and again that he doesn't give a flying #### about Donkey Kong.
  3. Completely agree on the first point. I already thought the 3DS version didn't have enough unlockable characters, and now there's even fewer on the U version? Come on.

  8. So I've been playing Smash 4 basically nonstop since last Friday, time permitting. Absolutely love Rosalina. She's got tons of untapped potential that's been a blast to explore so far. Sheik feels incredibly strong and Ganon feels great as well. Super armor Warlock Punch is a beautiful thing. Ness is okay (lol get it); I'm trying to learn him currently. Thinking of picking up Kirby also. My FC is 0602-6264-9441. Hit me up if you want to go a few rounds.
  9. IC: "Already here," said Iraanus, pushing through the door after Viloz. "Just waiting on Taoki, right? So - does anyone actually know what he's hoping to learn from this, er, venture?"
  10. OOC: We're not dying again bruh IC: "Or three," Iraanus mused, brushing a finger against the hilt of one of his knives. "Count me in. Tomorrow morning?"
  11. What's currently going on with Ko-Koro? I had intended to participate in the battle but got caught up in life etc.
  12. Hey so if anybody's got one of them Smash Bros demo codes lying around I'd be happy to take it off your hands Like I know the public demo drops tomorrow but the hype's pretty real right now and waiting 'til noon is going to be painful PM me pl0x
  13. FIGHTING TO SAVE THE WORLD

  14. By the time I realized that, my element lord was already dead and I'd already dropped a stat that didn't have a one on it.
  15. In the couple weeks since the roster was leaked I'd come to terms with the inclusion of the various newcomers. I was initially upset about DHD and Bowser Jr., but now they're pretty hype for me. Doc and DPit I can live with. I really thought there would be more characters, though, since there's space for five more tiles on the CSS and Smashboards mod Neo Zero claimed the leaked roster was incomplete. As such, I still held out hope that some of my most wanted newcomers would still make it. I was entirely sold on Ridley's chances, and I was hopeful for K Rool as well (though by the end I doubted he'd make it). Still, both of these characters were long shots from the start in that their inclusion was almost too good to be true. I'd honestly be surprised if Sakurai and his team were to make such tasteful and diverse roster decisions. (Perhaps such wording is oversimplifying it - Villager, WFT, and DHD come to mind - but the fact remains that Metroid and Donkey Kong, two of Nintendo's most popular franchises, have minimal representation in Smash. In fact, both now have less than does Kid Icarus, a series which has only three games, of which but one is recent - and that game developed by Sakurai himself. As an interesting note, Metroid has never gotten a "true" newcomer: Samus was the series' only rep in 64 and Melee, ZSS in Brawl was an addition to Samus rather than an independent fighter, and ZSS in 4 is now a veteran.) Anyway, what really gets to me is the veterans who haven't returned. Pichu and Young Link were to be expected, as they were barely unique enough to warrant slots in Melee, and YL has a spiritual successor in Toon Link. Everyone feared the worst for Roy when Robin and Lucina were revealed; the same goes for Squirtle/Ivysaur and Charizard - expecting the cut softened the blow. But Mewtwo, Lucas, Wolf, Ice Climbers, and Snake? Their exclusion is a freaking travesty. Mewtwo never should have been cut (and, indeed, never was intended to have been cut) after Melee, and Smash 4 was, in my mind and the minds of many of his fans, his chance to return to his rightful place. Lucas was one of my mains in Brawl, and Wolf was the other. Not having them is painful. Ice Climbers were arguably the most unique character in Melee/Brawl; that they should be removed is ridiculous. Word is that the technical limitations of the 3DS led to their exclusion, in which case they'd #### well better be on the Wii U version. As for Snake ... ugh. Why The interesting thing about these five veterans is that each one's failure to return results in a decrease in overall representation for their franchises. Pokemon, which had six reps in Brawl, now has five. Mother dropped from two to one; Star Fox from three to two. Both Ice Climber and Metal Gear lost their only rep. I could go on, but I'll spare you all my ranting. Here's to DLC.
  16. Que es mi barco mi tesoro / Que es mi dios la libertad / Mi ley, la fuerza y el viento / Mi única patria, la mar

  17. IC: "Business to take care of?" Iraanus asked, walking out from behind the bar. He came to a halt beside Taoki. "I certainly like the sound of that. When do we start, yeah?"
  18. The red Ruru is worth easily as much as the chrome Hau.
  19. tfw we get Link, Villager, another Mario, and another Peach before we get Bowser Jr. and Diddy Kong
  20. So I read The Fault in Our Stars about a month and a half ago maybe and I thought it was pretty good and whatnot. One thing that really bothered me about it, though, was the title. Minor spoilers to follow. The title is lifted from a line of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Speaking to well-respected public figure Brutus, senator Cassius states: This quote's relevance to Green's novel is explained as such within the work: This passage is presented as an e-mail from reclusive author Peter Van Houten to Augustus Waters, protagonist Hazel's love interest, in an analysis of the relationship between these two main characters that includes a pretentiously unnatural volume of references to Shakespeare's works. Van Houten's point is fairly clear: Shakespeare (or, more accurately, Cassius) was wrong in his analysis of fate; there is indeed "fault in our stars," and that's what the book is about. Except not quite. Let's take a closer - or rather, a wider - look at Julius Caesar's text. The context for Cassius assertion: Caesar's popularity in Rome has grown immensely. As Brutus and Cassius speak, the Roman masses attempt to make Caesar their king. Neither Brutus nor Cassius desires this, and though Caesar denies the people's offer, both are concerned. Cassius has already decided to take matters into his own hands and has organized a conspiracy to assassinate Caesar. He desires Brutus' support for his plot, primarily because Brutus is a widely-beloved and well-respected public figure who is also a close friend of Caesar's: presumably, he would be able to sway the population in favor of the conspiracy following Caesar's death by convincing them that such a sacrifice was necessary to protect their freedom. tl;dr (even though you should actually read it since Shakespeare's kind of a decent writer) Cassius once saved Caesar's life by rescuing him from drowning in the Tiber River. Caesar, Cassius asserts, is just as mortal as Brutus and Cassius themselves - not a godlike being as the Roman masses seem to believe. He goes on: Cassius has just established that Ceasar is not intrinsically greater than either himself or, more importantly, Brutus, whom he is clearly attempting to flatter. It stands to reason, then, that Caesar has no more claim to the throne than does Brutus - the only reason Brutus and Cassius are politically beneath Caesar - his "underlings" - is that they have not yet done anything about it. There is no "fault in [their] stars" that stands in the way of their halting Caesar's rise to power. Cassius' quote is a situational one that applies specifically to his and Brutus' sociopolitical status; it is not, as Van Houten suggests, an overarching analysis of the nature of fate. It's not like this is a major deal or anything but it just kind of irked me ya feel.
  21. Enjoyed rereading Gatsby and didn't have to do a ton of analysis on it so that's always nice. I was about to start The Count of Monte Cristo before realizing I had an abridged translation; naturally, I wanted to read the whole thing. Instead I started with A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court which I regrettably haven't had much time to work on yet. Also reading the Iliad for school - not the whole thing, though. I'm enjoying it, so I'll probably pick up a complete copy at some point.
