  1. No way would TSO be working with Teridax. Remember that he has a deep personal hatred with the Makuta. Zaktan is more likely. The Golden Skakdi has a lot of parallels with Irnakk; look at its conversation with Anonna and its abilities. Zaktan too has a close relationship with Irnakk; he was the one capable of mastering the Skakdi horror.
  2. Teridax is famous for his very complicated plans. The guy's so awesome, he even has backup plans for breakfast! With his complicated plan to take over the Great Spirit, there obviously had to be many branches. We really only know one, which is the one that succeeded. But what do we know of the rest of his plan? The Bionicle encyclopedia says that he wanted the mask of time in order to wake up the matoran after enough time so that they would worship him. Based on his successful plan, I've theorized the following about what he'd do in addition. We know that his ultimate goal was to take over the Great Spirit Robot. To do this, he needed Mata Nui to be dead temporarily so that he could insert his own spirit. As a result, I would assume that using the Vahi, he would prepare things so that his forces would obtain the Ignika just in time to save the great spirit. With the Matoran of Metru nui all on his side, he would have the deck safely stacked in his favor.Furthermore, when the Toa Nuva would have to come to Metru Nui in order to wake up the Great Spirit, he could probably use the matoran to manipulate the Nuva to awaken him at just the right moment, again with the cards stacked in his favor.I think this theory would solve one of the obvious holes that appears if Teridax's primary plan relied on him losing so many battles: he did not expect to lose, since Mata Nui had already planted the Metru's minds in his head so that he would choose the matoran he specifically thought would fail. He would not do this if he wanted them to succeed, nor would he silence Karzhani. This also clears up something that made me uncomfortable at first after the plot twist at the end of '08: the idea that the Metru, Nuva, Inika, and Mahri were never really in danger and that all their work was for nothing. According to my theory, Teridax had to spend substantially more resources into having his plan work out the way it did than his original plan. Furthermore, with a Matoran workforce content with serving him, I imagine his body would have functioned at a good enough state so that it would have been easier to take on Mata Nui in the alternate robot.
  3. Correct that Ahkmou is ruled out by the mindwipe, just like Kapura.Reidak might work if villains are possible, but again, I think it's pretty clear they are ruled out. Reidak specifically certainly caused all kinds of damage, and all six Piraka tried to steal the Ignika for profit. Hardly fits the GB. Ah, but he does most of that damage working as a team, and he, of all the Piraka, did not seem as personal bent on taking the mask. Remember that if the great being is the murderer, as many have theorized, then the GB is someone "who nobody ever suspected". Reidak seems to fit rather well, as he is generally ignored out of the six Piraka. However, you make the good point of the mask of life search. I just remembered that Reidak attempted to betray the rest of the Piraka in one of the chambers, indicating a personal desire for the mask. That would be unlikely if he was a Great Being. That said, if we are going by the "murderer" angle, then that opens up other options. Piruk would be one. His status as a scout would make sense, given that under this theory he would have been used to hiding himself and collecting information. I don't really suspect OoMN members, as they would have to have been thoroughly vetted, much like Dark Hunters.
  4. Wait where is Carapar on your list?Did Takadox really hypnotise the Mahri? If he did, I might have to reconsider his placement. I suppose a great deal would matter on his surroundings; if he was in a cave like his home, then he would be advantaged. But remember that if an opponent makes it past his gaze, then he will almost certainly lose. Still, if he's able to avoid direct combat for enough time, it wouldn't be too hard. You make a good point about him in a team fight, though. Carapar is really useful for sucking up damage with his armor. It's likely that multiply opponents would have to attack him at once, and then Takadox could pick them off one at a time.
  5. Hold on can you tell me what version of the game you are playing? That might help us figure this out.
  6. Some time ago, I wrote a thread called "Piraka comparisons", where I tried to rank each of the Piraka in terms of 1on1 fights with one another. Here, I will do a similar thing with the Barraki. Once again, this may be controversial, so feel free to input your own ideas and opinions. Before I start, I'd like to note beforehand that the Barraki each control their own armies. Because of that, it can be difficult to really see who is the most powerful. Some of the Piraka, such as Kalmah, rely heavily on their armies. However, I will not be factoring that into this comparison, as there are many variables when comparing army strength (numbers, location, etc, not to mention the fact that we see so little of Takadox's army, making it difficult to compare). As a result, this will mainly focus on each of the Barraki's individual powers, abilities, and strengths.Let's first look at the tentative leader of the Barraki, Pridak. Pridak is a very skilled warlord, and he is known for his ruthlessness and aggressiveness, fitting well with the fact that he is a shark. Pridak's teeth and weapons are supposed to be some of the sharpest objects in the series. Furthermore, he has some of the best overall Bionicle.com stats. These factors indicate that in close combat, he would easily be able to beat any of the others. But this alone does not make him the best, as he lacks a strong long-range strategy. He has his squid launcher, but so does everyone else, so that cancels out (and actually is disadvantageous against Kalmah, as we will see). To counter this, he has heightened senses, but outside of that, he has no powers as far as I know. Despite this, the only Barraki that are seen even trying to oppose him are Ehlek and Takadox. Ehlek is actually able to hold his own against the shark briefly, but the fight is stopped. Takadox's conflict is not seen, but it is known that he was able to hypnotise Pridak. However, one could argue that at the time, Pridak was in a maddened state due to the Mask of Life. Mantax and Kalmah are portrayed as being outright afraid of him (the latter was badly injured at one point), and I don't think Caraper's armor and strength would be much good here. Takadox is very weak in close combat, so he is unlikely to be able to top the leader. This leaves Ehlek.Ehlek is an interesting being. He, along with Mantax, are the only Barraki that have actual offensive powers (Takadox's hypnotism is not inherantly offensive). This certainly allows him to make up for the fact that Pridak outdoes him in every stat. Ehlek could repeatedly zap Pridak into submission. That said, Pridak's heightened senses could allow him to detect Ehlek charging beforehand, allowing the shark to make the first move. Overall, I'm giving the matchup to Pridak, making him the best. Despite that, Ehlek could hold himself well against the other Barraki. Carapar was technically seen beating him, but he pretty much got Ehlek by surprise. Ehlek's shocks could counter Takadox's hypnosis and possibly Kalmah's squid. Against Mantax, though, things are a bit more sketchy.Mantax is the only Barraki to have more than one power, and the only one (other than perhaps Pridak) to have an instant-kill ability. In addition to his spikes, Mantax has the little-known ability to use electrical powers through his tentacles. At the very least, this might allow him to counter Ehlek's shocks. Their stats are similar, with Ehlek being a bit more agile and Mantax being tougher, but since Mantax is known to be good at hiding, he could probably get away with a sneak attack. Not to mention he can detect Ehlek's charges. Mantax has been seen beating Takadox in battle. Against Carapar and Kalmah, it is not as clear. Carapar is describes as being able to defeat Mantax. However, Mantax's spikes might be able to penetrate Carapar's armor, which would explain why Mantax lost - the Barraki might get into conflicts, but they would be hesitent to outright kill each other. Still, Mantax has his electric attacks. Kalmah's heightened senses allow him to spot Mantax's sneak attacks, but electric attacks might counter attempts to reach with tentacles. Overall, I'd put Mantax as number 2 and Ehlek as number 3.Kalmah is a different story. He starts out with one advantage against the others: he has control over their squid. This would automatically give him first strike in any battle, which would allow him to follow up with his tentacles. It would be difficult to sneak attack against him, as he has heightened senses. However, he only has two ways to outright win a battle: strangulation using tentacles, or draining life through squid. The second method is difficult, as Kalmah only has two squid available: his and his opponent's. His opponents will be used up during the first strike that is needed as a distraction. That leaves him only one more squid, and to make sure it completely drains his victim, he has to hold them in place using his tentacle. That makes both of his strategies reliant on him holding his opponent. Needless to say, this would not work against Pridak, who would just bite through. Ehlek and Mantax would zap, and Carapar might be too strong. Takadox is physically weak, so this might work against him. This does not put him in too good of a spot, despite his initial advantages.Carapar is just an "all brawn, no brains" guy. He is so weak minded that Takadox can successfully hypnotise him, losing him that matchup. He has been able to fight Mantax and Ehlek, but we don't know enough about the Mantax fight and the Ehlek fight had him make the first move, which normally would not be the case since Carapar is very slow and not skilled at sneaking. Still, he is able to quickly kill opponents by tearing them apart, so he could hold his own against Kalmah. Overall I'd say the two are tied in a matchup, and they compliment each other (that's why they work well as a team). But because Carapar loses the Takadox matchup, he goes below both Kalmah and Takadox. That leaves Takadox. Takadox's hypnosis has its advantages, but it is only seen working on two other Barraki. Carapar was always weak minded, and Pridak was in a maddened state. Without hypnosis, Takadox only has skill with daggers, which is not enough, as seen in his fight with Mantax. Despite his high mental capabilities, I do not think he is very good at one-on-one fighting. That puts are final list as follows:1. Pridak2. Mantax3. Ehlek4. Kalmah5. Takadox6. CaraparWhat are your opinions? Note that I am not saying that Takadox is the "worst" of the Barraki; I am comparing their skills against each other. Takadox, for example, is an amazing strategist and is good at manipulating others in the long run. However, he is not a fighter. Similarly, Kalmah has a very good army due to the squids, but that does not help him very much in a fight like this that does not compare armies.
  7. I don't think the GB is Ahkmou. I remember hearing that Ahkmou was originally going to be a toa of shadow in 2008. Somehow I don't think a GB would let himself be shadow-leeched like that. Not to mention he's been mind-wiped.Not sure if this has been mentioned but Reidak? Greg hasn't ruled out any of the Piraka, and Reidak seems to be the one who has the least developed personality. Of the 6, he seems to only be bent on following orders. Hakann, Thok, and Avak all sought rebellion, while Vezok has pretty much been ruled out. This leaves Reidak, the silent one who defended Zaktan during the first piraka rebellion in Dark Destiny.
  8. OK, Challenge of the Hordika specifically says that the Metru collected masks from the Great Temple, so that explains why they are on Mata Nui. Still, one asks the following: how did the Kanohi Nuva appear on Mata Nui?
  9. First of all, Biosector should never be used as the ultimate source of things, unless you can find a direct canon material supporting it. Second of all, I'm pretty sure the camouflage system was intended by the Great Beings, but it was an "accident" because it ended up being an island. Mata Nui's camouflage system was accidentally activiated, not that his camouflage system is the result of a mistake.
  10. Yeah, anything that directly contradicts Hapka or Farshtey is non-canon. Everything else is.
  11. This is an incredible analysis.I loved Bionicle Mask of Light, but yeah, there could be improvements. First off, it could simply be longer, allowing for more action and developement (for example, Pohatu and Gurahk NEVER do anything useful). Someone mentioned the plot hole of Panrahk's blast knocking through the Hau in Ta-Koro but not in Kini-Nui. I think the shield still blocked Panrahk's blast (otherwise Tahu would be dead), but the impact still knocked him back. In Kini-Nui, the Toa are all linked, so they are able to absorb the shock of even the combined Rahkshi powers.
  12. Sadly no, according to BS01. http://biosector01.c.../index.php/LewaBiosector is a good source, but it isn't 100% correct. It is, afterall, a wiki, so anyone can edit it.
  13. I just realized how broken the Gravity Element is. Nuhvok-Kal or any Toa of Gravity could simply crush any of their opponents into a singularity. In fact, I'm suprised Makuta hasn't done that to anybody yet (like the Shadowed One or Voporak).@Poutwuw: Oxygen is an element in both Water and Air, but Air is part Carbon Dioxide and Nitrogen as well, and Water is a compound, so the Oxygen in it cannot be seperated. So while your idea would be cool, it wouldn't work (that said, Liquid Protodermis could work differently). As another contribution, I would like to point out how the Mask of Strength and Mask of Speed are equivilant. Newton's Second Law states that Force = Mass*Acceleration. The Pakari increases Force, so therefore it also increases Acceleration. Similarly, the Kakama increases Acceleration, so it also increases the wearer's Force.Another way the Kakama can be used (though this probably only works for the Kakama Nuva) is to make all surrounding objects vibrate so quickly that they approach the Speed of Light, causing their time to slow down (so to an extent it can be used as a limited Vahi).
  14. I guess you guys win here. Still, one wonders why the Makuta were made so powerful, if their purpose was quite "minor", since they only make Rahi.
  15. I understand Matoran, but has it been confirmed that the Great Beings created "minor" races like Skakdi, Vortix, etc? Biosector says nothing about this.
  16. I did not say that Matoran were descended from Rahi. I just said all other species not directly created by the Great Beings. As for evolution, maybe it could be a similar type of "evolution" to the way the Makuta adapt? @Erebus, my point was that not everything created by the Brotherhood eventually became wildlife. For example, the Skakdi may have been intended as Rahi, but ended up as sapient beings (this would explain the sheer diversity in many races; all of them originated as part of a random process involving energized protodermis).
  17. I'm surprised you guys haven't mentioned Ahkmou's poisoned Kohli balls or Lerahk's poison. I also think some of you are looking at the MU inhabitants as being completely mechanical, which isn't the case. They have biological lungs, muscle tissue, and possibly even a circulatory system, which is a lot of organic parts that can be infected.
  18. I understand that but i highly doubt they descended from rahi since most every thing in the matoran universe was built. and also i think it was mata-nui who created them because first off if you look at the reason the matoran were made was to keep mata-nui running by doing thier work so think of what the vortixx do they also create and in a way they are profiting the matoran with their creations ( mostly weapons) so it's like a mutual relationship since the matoran can't do everything. It's more so a " we give you something and we get something in return " type thing all the species benefit from each other thus creating a complex network which helps mata-nui function. and whos to say that mata-nui did not come up with this idea when he observed other planets. it's simply that every one benefits from the others existence. But the problem is that the Matoran were only intended as workers, and the Great Beings allowed for Toa to be there to defend them, so they wouldn't really need materials. That also does not explain the huge variety in Dark Hunter races, most of which don't seem to have a specific use towards Mata Nui or the Matoran. In addition Mata Nui's primary will was towards the Matoran, so he created the Makuta to aid them and create any further things needed.@Erebus: In that case, perhaps many of the races are "technically" rahi (in other words direct creations of the Brotherhood) but are just very intelligent? The line between what constitutes as a "Rahi" and a "sapient race" is very thin (hence Krakha and Keetongu).
  19. I think you misread my post. I acknowledged that all the Rahi were created by the Makuta, and I was proposing that most of the civilizations in the Matoran Universe (Skakdi, Vortix, Steltian, etc) all descend from Rahi created by the Makuta.
  20. As we all know, the Matoran universe is very diverse with all kinds of species living in the many islands across the Great Spirit Robot. However, the question remains that, if the Matoran are the only important beings, with a select few other entities created by the Great Beings to assist them, why are there so many life forms in the universe? Neither the Great Beings nor Mata Nui really had any need for the Skakdi or Vortix, for example. But we do know one species directly created by Mata Nui: the Makuta. Their original purpose is kind of vague, all we really know is that the Great Beings intended for the Makuta species to act as a symbolic "brother" to Mata Nui. Their main purpose that we have been given though, is to create Rahi. I propose that all the various species across the universe are descended from Rahi created by Makuta. This explains the huge diversity is species in the Great Spirit Robot. Opinions of this theory?
  21. Wait, Mask of Light pronounces it "LEE-wah". Surely that defines official pronouciations? (I guess that means other "LEE-wah" users don't have to worry!)
  22. OK, I can't believe I haven't mentioned this yet. The Mahri killing the entire Visorak Hoard. Web of Shadows established at the end that the Visorak were not inherently evil, but were simplistic beings who favored an "honorable" leader like Sidorak over someone cruel and deceptive like Roodaka. Vakama even freed them to establish the point, and in Time Trap a Visorak actually tries to help him. Then 1000 years later the Mahri hardly think twice about murdering the entire species (which violated the Toa Code that they were supposed to follow).
  23. Nuhvok Kal was destroyed (though his Krana-Kal survived); he is now a singularity on Mata Nui's face. Levakhk Kal is perhaps still alive, though he's stuck in space perhaps forever (his Krana is presumed to have escaped). Gahlok and Kohrak both were destroyed by their powers. This leaves Tahnok Kal (who as I said, is likely to have escaped his electric cage by now) and Pahrak Kal, who for all we know if running around Metru Nui. I certainly hope they return - they honestly were the best "villain" team we had for a while (until Barraki).
  24. o_o.In all seriousness, to develop Bionicle better for older audiances, the focus should probably be on 2003 (later part) and 2005 onwards. Specifically 2005 and 2007, which seem to be the darkest years of the series. 2007 if portrayed in the right light could work well as a thriller/sci-fi (I think you get the gist from the Mahri commercial), with the only contraint being making the underwater theme look nice. 2008 would also work as a sci-fi, as that is where the series reached its peak in terms of being a science fiction series. The Legend Reborn had so much potential as a good movie, but it was made too childish by the portrayals of Kina and Tuma. That whole theme of Bara Magna, summarized by the book Raid on Vulcanus, would work very well as a movie.
  25. Actually, I think Vakama's descent to darkness (if a bit rushed and made too Darth Vader-ish) was handled well by Farshtey. He did a good job of piling up all the factors, from Vakama's guilt for Lhikan's death and his failure to save the matoran in time to the fact that he personally caused his team to get mutated. His apparent learning of his origin from Makuta was merely the finally pushing point. Consider all these reasons, plus the fact that he is under Hordika venom, which prevents him from acting rational over his primal urges.
