All countries have a violent past(Care to name one country that doesn't?). I'm inspired to love my country from it's origins of Liberty and Justice. The right to religion, self-defense, and free-speech. The rights that were held by all humanity as important long before law was even written down.

irrelevant. i asked you not whether you abhor your country for its violent past, which would no doubt be silly, i asked you how violence made you love your country more. men with guns have nothing to do with liberty or justice. they can be defenders of liberty or justice, but not by virtue of being men with guns. they can be defenders of liberty and justice by virtue of being defenders of liberty and justice. mind you, this is not exclusive of having a gun, but neither is it synonymous.

Don't switch the subject. I answered the question. I love my country from it's origins, and that includes the War of Independence. Which was won with guns. Which aren't violent. People are violent. I can be violent with an XBox controller.
