  1. IC: Shark / Hallway Shark shrugged. "Physical resemblance," he offered, indicating his single finlike spine. "...And youthful ambitions," he admitted pensively, "now tempered with experience." He paused, expression thoughtful, before continuing, "If you don't mind me asking, what can I call you?"
  2. IC: Vlad / Gym "In any case, yes, ve do need a fourth teammate. I think you're velcome to join," Vlad told Helkyrie. This was indeed a band of misfits and unusual characters, no doubt. That was okay. In Corpus Rahkshi 'normal' was bloodthirsty and 'popular' meant diabolical. * * * IC: Thurisaz / Gym The lofty Turahk granted his rivals the acknowledgement of a reserved nod, his relaxed attitude calming anxious comrades. "I've a few loyal companions," he agreed modestly, his ruby eyes yet gleaming satisfaction. "I'm sorry to see you've had less luck, Ezec. Does our sister keep scaring them away?" he guessed lightheartedly. About then, a small squishy Rahkshi arrived, asking for assignment details. "But look, right here's your chance! I'll distract Aza, you make a friend," he suggested mischievously.
  3. Considering that the Seventh Assignment page on our Wikia can be better updated by everyone, it's replacing my list here as the definitive one. I'll be doing my part to expand the wiki with my characters' pages as soon as I get the chance, too.
  4. IC: Vlad / Gym "Er... Helkyrie, zis is Garrotte," Vlad attempted clarify. "She's fairly new. I vas showink her around vhen zis happened, unt now here ve are." Turning to Diode, he added, "Unt zis ist... er..." He actually didn't know this Rahkshi's name, he realized awkwardly. "...vhat ist your name? I don't think I heard it," he finished apologetically.
  5. IC: Shark / Hallways "Call me Shark," he said, for Orloc's sake crouching down at a comfortable distance closer to her eye level. "I'm here to look after students in distress, as you seem to be."
  6. IC: Thurisaz / Gym Thurisaz's grin showed mild mirth. "Take no offense," he assured Paladin. "Tube speaks clumsily, but with good intentions. Understand 'power' or 'ambition' in place of 'evil,' and it makes more sense," he elucidated. "After all, the most impressive beings are often conventionally notorious." * * * IC: Vlad / Gym Vlad nodded. "I'm villink to team up vith you two," he agreed. He scanned the crowd for other familiar faces. There weren't a lot of Rahkshi he knew well here... he had fought alongside a lot of people in the past, but most had drifted away somehow. He did find one familiar face though. "I know her, her name is Helkyrie," he said, indicating the deathly Rahk. "Ve can invite her."
  7. Reda is approved! And Click resumes his four-letter name trend once more.
  8. IC: Thurisaz / Gym Thurisaz was wearing an excited grin. "Good timing, Tube," he told his breathless vassal. "Icarax has just announced an assignment; we need to get into teams of four." He surveyed his three associates with clear satisfaction. "All of you up for joining mine?" * * * IC: Vlad / Gym He thought a moment about how to answer Diode's question. "I have an unusual condition," he explained. "Vhere most Rahkshi can't stand bright light, I am pained by deep darkness. I vear zis cloak so I am alvays comfortably illuminated." The cloak, he realized, was still burnt in places. Probably his faceplate too. He had to get that fixed sometime. In the meantime, Icarax had explained the assignment. "A VIP game," Vlad murmured. That certainly wasn't going to be overly violent. "Are you goink to participate?" he asked his two companions. * * * IC: Jayar / Forest "Is there a path to trace?" Jayar asked, kneeling again to consider this latest evidence, the larger disturbance where Kat and Cao, apparently, had vanished. * * * IC: Shark / Hallways With Thurisaz' assignment concluded, and indeed Icarax himself now presiding over a labyrinthine assignment in the Gym, there was no longer any reason for Shark to keep vigil there. But another aspect of a Prefect's duties was to patrol the hallways, intervening in violent scraps and maintaining order among the student body. So Shark took to drifting through the halls, monitoring them for chaos or strife. He was in a relatively quiet part of the building when he heard distressed footsteps reverberate through an adjacent corridor, then slowly slump to a stop. His sedate approach soon brought faint weeping fading into his hearing as well. Soon he came upon its source: a scrawny maroon-robed Rahk, clearly desolate. "What's wrong?" he asked compassionately, a giant gentle in concern for a student crying.
  9. In the interests of helping everyone arrange a team for the assignment, here's a list of everyone currently in the Gym for it, and everyone who seems to be headed that way. I'll update the list with teams and new arrivals as they appear. Edit: Because it can be better kept up to date, the Wikia page for the seventh assignment is replacing this post as the definitive list of teams and participants. Access it here.
  10. IC: Lucid / Courtyard "What? No, this actually is..." Lucid tried to explain, now herself the confused one, but it was too late. Orloc was already fleeing in anguish. She considered going after them, but suspected that might do more harm than good right now. Disturbed to have upset someone so, she trudged over to the Porters and sat down drearily. "You remain obscure, your majesty," she told the Uncrowned King. The stoic machine accepted the verdict passively and continued gardening.
  11. IC: Lucid / Courtyard "You're looking at the wrong one, silly. It's the one to that one's left." In hindsight, this should have been perfectly obvious, because that Porter was completely the same as every other one as well.
  12. IC: Lucid / Library, Courtyard "Of course. Follow me." The rainbow Rahkshi stood up, leading the way to the fringes of the Courtyard. Although many of the Porters had been sent to deliver word of the assignment, a small number of them remained at ease by the garden there, as usual. The Rahkshi stopped a respectful distance away, so as not to disturb them. "See that one?" Lucid whispered, singling out one of them despite its appearance being indistinguishable to the untrained eye. "Gaze well, and reverently. For you look upon the Uncrowned King." * * * IC: Vlad / Approaching Gym "Vell, yes," Vlad conceded, stepping a little faster. They were almost at the Gym anyways.
  13. IC: Lucid / Library "We just get up and walk over to where he is. What did you expect?" * * * IC: Thurisaz / Gym "Ah, hello Aerahk," Thurisaz greeted his loyal follower approvingly. "This is Sir Paladin, he's just joined us. He was a semifinalist in the tournament, recall?" he introduced his new vassal with satisfaction. "Paladin, this is Aerahk, another steadfast companion of mine."
  14. IC: Lucid / Library Lucid nodded. "Sure. Do you want me to show you?"
  15. IC: Thurisaz / Gym "Good to have you with me. I feel safer already," the powerful Thurisaz replied, grinning. "Let's head over there then." He began to stride toward the assignment gathering across the Gym, motioning smoothly for Paladin to follow.
  16. IC: Thurisaz / Gym "I am honored to accept your fealty, Sir Paladin." So saying, the dignified Turahk placed a hand on the warrior's shoulder. "Rise, loyal Knight. No longer do you strive alone."
  17. IC: Lucid / Library "Silence is not cessation, for some silences speak louder than shouting," Lucid remarked. "Like a stillness just before a storm, or the quiet aura of a graveyard. Things all the living know, or will know, all too well. In this way, life is indeed music. And music is equal of all time, not outside it: the past and future are just the present at different times."
  18. IC: Lucid / Library Helkyrie's sudden departure shook Lucid from her reverie. "Have fun," she told her friend dreamily. Then, just as quickly, another Rahkshi arrived - clearly one of some wisdom. "Indeed, perceptive one," she replied. "For what the world is, it seems not; and what it can be asked, it often denies; so the lighting of the absurd reveals more as yet unknown than can wandering in the dimly lit mundane. The flowers of truth share this much."
  19. IC: Lucid / Library Lucid was pretty much staring off into space contemplating the mystery of oatmeal cookies. (Like... who enjoys them?) So Helkyrie's mundane musings about fishing poll literature went, inadvertently, ignored. * * * IC: Gaever / Nynrah "Attachments are not strictly necessary," Gaever explained, "but they would add the functionality to the staff. For example, you could attach a pointed tip to make a spear, which would be more effective in combat. Or you could attach an axe, for woodcutting. Any such tool could be created by an appropriate attachment."
  20. IC: Thurisaz / Gym "I'm flattered, Sir Paladin." The highborn Turahk's smile flashed noble humility. "But, you are hardly incorrect. My... family... has often claimed special status." Now it was a wry smirk, as if that were some weak joke. "Personally I've forged a more refined noblesse. Your acknowledgement is gratifying, worthy Knight."
  21. IC: Thurisaz / Gym Thurisaz descended triumphantly down from his seat as the crowd dispersed from his tournament. That, he decided, had been a success. Now his name would be known throughout the halls, and he had made good with a number of impressive Rahkshi. Here was one such hero now, in fact. "Ah, Paladin!" the princely Turahk greeted the knight. "Good to see you back in fighting shape." He focused attention on the assignment gathering in the other part of the Gym for a moment. "I was just headed to this assignment: never too soon for a new adventure. Were you going to participate as well?" His bright gaze had alighted again on Paladin. * * * IC: Vlad / Hallways Vlad followed along, if somewhat sullenly. He was no big fan of assignments, but it was worth checking out... and he wasn't about to let these two, or other relative innocents, get themselves killed. "It's not likely. Zer most important think ist probably attendance... somehow, zey von't start if people are still on zer vay." He wasn't entirely sure how this was. Someone in charge must want everyone to have a chance to participate.
  22. IC: Jayar / Forest of Kaam "Fascinating." Jayar stood and began to move in the direction Era was indicating, beckoning his allies to come with him. "Come on, let's see what it is."
  23. IC: Jayar / Forest of Kaam Jayar remained skeptical. "I highly doubt it even leads anywhere at all, though. That even brief blizzard was only cover for an escape - they would have had no reason to continue it once they were out of our sight. I guess it can't hurt to check, though." That said, he began to pace around the frosted ground, examining it closely on the off chance there actually was some real direction or trail away. Surely enough, there was none. "No, it doesn't lead anywhere," he confirmed. It was somewhat of a relief - that would have been too convenient, too likely a red herring, and possibly too likely to trick his anxious comrades. "So we need another lead - like these odd disturbances," he concluded, stopping to examine another rocky upset identical to the first - this one at the site of the Su-Toa.
  24. IC: Thurisaz / Gym The noble Turahk decided not to be disgusted. "Ah, but it means you grow more powerful," he pointed out. "In the long run it benefits you a great deal."
  25. IC: Gaever / Nynrah Next...? Good question. "Now that raw materials are in hand, I will use them to make things." But what things? What did she need to be making? Ah, she had an idea. "For example, an attachment for your staff could be constructed," she offered, as the forge came into view.
