actually the Grandfather paradox is when you go back in time to kill your own grandfather before your own father was born thereby preventing any chance of you being born to go back in time to kill your grandfather to begin with. If your father is never born, he cannot aid in your own creation thus you wouldn't be born to be able to go back in time to kill your grandfather. If you don't kill your grandfather then your father is born then you so now that you are born you can go back in time to kill said grandfather. Thus why it is called the "Grandfather" Paradox. Because two events in time counteract the possibility of either actually happening.

 

The other option being alternate realities where when you kill your grandfather you create and alternate timeline where your dad and thus you were never born, however as you were in order to go back and kill your grandfather you're timeline is still intact and your grandfather sired your father who in turn sired yourself.

Ohh...yeah, that's why time travel can be confusing/irritating. Although I do like that it can be used to reboot or clean up a messy continuity, like in DoFP or Terminator: Genisys. But like was mentioned, we don't know the powers of G2's Vahi, or how big of a role it will play in the story.

Someone mentioned the Vahi being unable to perform time travel...that was the G1 incarnation, we don't know for sure what the G2 version is and isn't capable of just yet. Anyways, I'm pretty sure I heard/read somewhere that the Toa had traveled "across space and time" to reach Okoto. Dunno, perhaps I screwed up somewhere along the line. But I'm not trying to find a connection of any sort to G1, that's not even something I particularly want. As for the paradox...think of the Terminator paradox. John Connor sends his father back in time so he can be born...but his father was born after him, creating a grandfather paradox. These are the kind of paradoxes I'm wanting to avoid and is why I created this topic. But hey, maybe it's a case of me overthinking this.

Hey guys...as you probably know, the Toa in the reboot are time travelers, whom the Protectors summoned using the Vahi, the Mask of Time. So time travel is a thing now...you might be thinking "yeah, big deal" right now, but I'm here to ask an important question that doesn't really have an answer...what are the implications of time travel? What sort of consequences or effects could this have? Anyone who has seen X-Men: Days of Future Past and/or the Terminator movies - no, I'm not advocating a Bionicle/Terminator crossover unless it's a non-canon miniseries - knows the in-universe ramifications we've seen in those universes. Time travel is at least partly responsible for screwing up the Terminator franchise, so I wonder if LEGO really should've opened this can of worms. I can see it being done tastefully, but I can also see it ending badly. But enough of my opinions, I'd like to hear what you guys think!

My friend had a baby Wednesday, so I saw her at the hospital today...he's freaking adorable. Anyways, while I was there, she had the TV there on Cartoon Network, and the new Bionicle commercial aired twice. I was only there for like an hour and a half, maybe 2 hours. Very nice to see Bionicle commercials again.

The PoS thing is hilarious...funny story about that, on the Black Ops Zombies map Moon, the space suit is called a P.E.S. and when you put it on, it says "P.E.S. active", but sometime I hear it as "P.O.S. active". Sometimes I hear/read P.O.S. as P.E.S. if I've played Zombies recently, lol. Funny how acronyms work in our minds, isn't it? If I say HP, most of ya'll will likely think of HP Pavilion, but I instantly think "horsepower". Back on topic, whoever was asking needs to get Gali, she's easily one of the best sets. Onua is amazing as well, so it's a hard pick between those. Get both if you can.

I wanted to apologize for how I've been portraying myself here. I know you guys probably don't like me very much but I assure you I'm actually a quiet guy. I've been really irritable and stressed out lately due to college and other personal issues but that's no reason to come here and let it out on you guys. I know the rules but sometimes I forget them when I'm angry or upset so I'm not able to really see things from a calm and polite perspective. I am not using this as an excuse, but I suffer from high functioning Autism (Asperger's Syndrome) and it's practically ruined my life. It makes me say and do the stupidest things when I'm not thinking straight (As you guys might have seen) and it's beyond annoying.

 

I've managed to overcome some aspects of it but for the most part I struggle. I really don't want to sound like an insensitive jerk. I love Bionicle and I love this site. I might not have many friends here but we're all in the same club, right? I'm not saying I won't ever mess up again, but I'll try to double check my posts to see if they are suitable for the discussion. Does that sound fair?

 

People might accuse me of being a 'troll' but this is not the truth. I just have a hard time interacting with people and saying things in a non offensive way. I've fought with this my whole life and it seems I'm not making much progress. Luckily, some users here have tried to assist me in this situation. From now on, if I want to express my strong opinions, I will place an 'I Think'( or a variation of that phrase) before doing so.

 

Thank you for understanding and please don't take anything I said before personally. I don't mean any of it. If it would make everybody feel better I could take a break for a couple of days or so and come back when I'm calm. (Personal issues notwithstanding.) Would that help?

I've seen leaked images, and I won't give any details due to the policy here, but I will say this...my theory about them being undead appears to be true, judging by their looks. Pics are blurry though, and we'll get better looks at them soon.

 

I know there hasn't been much talk about the books that are to be released, but I've been thinking about it recently. Do you think the books will be released only in print, only on eBook platforms (like iBooks, etc.), or both?

 

If it's up to me, I would go with either only eBook platforms or both, especially because of the target audience for the online animations, which do look great if not somewhat better on smaller screens.

I think Lego is most likely going to release the books in digital format, seeing as that they are trying to reach kids who use (and often own) tablets every day.

The style may look "simple", but the process of developing and outputting the animations you see is far from a simple process. It looks coherent to itself, and the animation is well done, with no inconsistencies or technical errors that I've caught yet. An 8 year old would have a much easier time replicating the animations of MNOG than these new ones. I'm studying in the animation industry and I've been doing this kinda "simple" Flash animation since I hit puberty. Trust me, it's a lot more complicated than it looks. You may not like the style or the cheesy writing/atmosphere, but it's not a fault of the animations, it's their goal. They didn't fail to make something incredible, they succeeded in executing their vision for a fun, quick visual and narrative style so they can pop out more episodes quicker and look fairly unique compared to the cartoons currently out there. 

 

There's valid criticism, and there's just mean comments. Like was said above, "I think--" is a much nicer way of prefacing your comments and doesn't come across as personal insult to the artists involved. Personally, I'm not a fan of the style either, but I'm waiting for it to grow on me.

 

I THINK I don't care about how 'comlpex' their animation style is. I THINK it is extremely shoddy, making the heroes of my childhood look like bootleg Autobots and giving them the personalities of cardboard.

 

And by the way, having the same boring and eye-scarring art style as those 'Mixels' is not doing them any favors. I THINK they should go for something darker and more set like.

Darker? Perhaps a tiny bit darker would be nice, but how dark are you wanting it to be? We don't want Ghost Rider or Batman levels of dark! XD

I hear that the mask maker won't have a gold/blue Protector mask..apparently has the mask from PoW. Wonder if the names are preliminary? Designs may be subject to small changes too, hopefully.

 

Each has a different "feature color"? Now that's interesting. Expected them to be dark, but not sure how to feel about the skeletal aspect. The description makes the villains sound almost zombie-like in appearance. Torn cloth...dark...skeletal...sorta sounds like something of the undead variety if you ask me. But that's just my opinion.

Excited for these! I doubt I'll be getting any since I already blew my money on the toa (totally worth it), but I'm still interested to say the least, especially with these new "cloth"-like shells.

 

I can say that I do hope that these have some more characterization than it appears LOSS might end up with (We haven't really seen much of him yet, but he seems pretty bland and bestial. If he does get more interesting, it'll probably be the books, but we haven't even received a bio describing what he's like as an individual.). Can't wait to see where this goes! They could be like undead guardians of Okoto

Glad people like my theory of undead villains. If they are undead like I suspect, I wonder what the cause of their undead state is...would it perhaps be a direct result of the creation of the Mask of Ultimate Power? Or something with the Vahi? A virus? Something more evil and mysterious?

Lego I think should focus on making new different villain sets. No more clone sets with the only physical differences being colour and tools. And I agree with the comment about wildlife. Skull spiders are nice, but that can't be the only other thing on Okoto.

Well I discussed the possibility of 6 unique robots, each with different designs to avoid being clones, but that discussion didn't seem to go very far.

Am I the only one who hopes that G2 Makuta doesn't get his name changed to Teridax? We don't need that again...I do need Takanuva though.

That post was an apology and acknowledgement of my mistakes though? Royally confused considering I apologized to everybody. I respectfully told him why I reacted the way I did and made sure to let him I know I did not intend to be so harsh. I see what was wrong with the other posts, but do not see what was wrong with that last one. Guess I'm just not as intelligent as I thought.

Well the LoSS uses little of the new CCBS. A lot of the build is simple Technic in origin. The only real CCBS on it seems to be for the limbs, to attach it's face, and then a piece for the back of the spider itself. Now I know some could reply that the LoSS is not round and this is true. The original Bohrok took advantage of curved limb parts to aid in the spherical shape. There are none yet that I know of released since then. So new parts may be required limiting the current possibility at date. This by no means it cannot be done.

Problem with Bohrok, unless they are COMPLETELY changed and are only Bohrok in name, is that they'd need ultra-specialized parts that couldn't be re-used, setting us up for Kal AGAIN...which would be redundant. We don't want to retread too much G1 ground, that would be boring and predictable. Easter Eggs would be nice, but we don't want too much of a retelling going on here.

Back on topic, why even have G2 Bohrok? They had a very specialized role and are hard to repurpose, so would they work without the GSR plot twist? Other than being robotic guardians that malfunction, I can't see any other way to bring 'em in. Why not bring the Baterra in instead since we never got their sets in G1?

Uh Prowl, if you don't mind me adding to your idea, I think perhaps a ball of volcanic rock would be better than a fireball. The earth one could be purple...I would say Adamantine, but I'll probably just get crucified AGAIN like I was in the official 2015 topic, so I won't open that can of worms again.

Takanuva is the only G1 Toa I'm suggesting return. I'm not asking that LEGO bring back a bunch of G1 characters...just feel like Takanuva would complete the team.

 

Except it's not is it? We already have the 6 Toa but as RegitNui said these ARE NOT the same characters. They're just a nod to old fans and a hook for new ones. They were never on Mata Nui, they never encountered energised protodermis and they never met Takanuva, or even Takua for that matter. You're also discussing the posisble return of the Bohrok in your last post (yes I know that's the purpose of the topic but you seem to be arguing in favour of their return too) So Takanuva is NOT the only character you want to see return. I strongly suspect that if you had your way with the story team we would see a whole host of rehashed Gen1 characters with just the odd new set each wave and that is a perfect way to sink Gen2 before it's even started. If people want Bohrok or Rahkshi or Piraka they can buy the Gen1 sets! We DO NOT need them remade for us out of CCBS just because we can. If you want to see those models then either MoC them or wait until someone else does, it's inevitable really! 

 

I really wish everyone would stop trying to play join the dots with Gen 1 and Gen 2 though,it seems there's a couple new threads everyday and often they're duplicates of already existing conversations! Or simply parallel them with a slightly new 'twist'! Gen 2 is NEW, it is NOT Gen 1 and it is NOT a continuation. Outside of the characters we already have I personally don't want to see ANY old characters return. I think it will cheapen the whole experience to those of us familiar with the original line...

I may be advocating the Bohrok, that is true, but I'm only discussing POSSIBLE ways they could be done in a return. I don't particularly care if they return or not. If they do, I'd rather it be the namesake only that returns. As for your accusation that I would sink G2...that is uncalled for, and I will NOT tolerate such personal attacks. To suggest that I have creative skills or abilities is the most asinine thing you could do when you don't know a dang thing about me or who I am. If I had my way with the story team, there'd be no rehashed characters. In fact, it's more likely the actual story team will do that. I'd do creative things such as Toa of different elements, which I doubt we'll see from the current story team. Only thing I'd take from G1 is characters who never got sets, and even then, I'd probably just use the names, not the personalities or anything. I hope that clears up anything that may not have been clear to anybody from my initial posts. Ugh, I knew I opened the wrong can of worms by posting in this topic...

Oh, I merely misunderstood...sorry, I'm sleep-deprived and have generally had a rough week. So sorry if anything I say/do makes little/zero sense, lol. Anyways, I wholeheartedly agree. The part about Bohrok being transformed Av-Matoran was honestly stupid and unnecessary.

Prowl likes him some purple. especially Midnight purple and whatever color the Decepticon logo is.

That'd be like...a royal purple, I believe. 

Here's another twist. If we get Bohrok in G2, instead of making them be the villains...why not make them heroes? They could be 6 unique robots each designed with the express purpose of defending the villages of Okoto when the Toa are away, or helping out when a threat is too great for the Toa and Protectors to handle alone. I'm massively sleep-deprived this week, so maybe nothing I've posted this entire week makes sense or is worth anything, but it's just ideas floating around in my head.

I agree, Toa of other elements would be cool. I think this right now is a pipe dream as I think from what I keep reading Lego is taking it slow this time around due to how complex Gen1 got. Though from a selling stand point I don't see the harm. Especially if each Toa is going to have strictly an elemental mask power over random mask power. Though that also limits resale and the collection building of the Gen1 masks. I mean are we going to have any need for Tahu's mask in the other colors? Only if they release them for MOC value, but don't really see a green or brown Toa of Fire so... Unless they get alternate abilities and not just elemental ones there'd be no reason for the Toa to collect other versions of their masks.

Toa of other elements would also allow for new colors and color combos. I mean come on...who doesn't want more purple?

Still don't see why Takanuva showing up in the reboot is such a bad thing if he's introduced in a different way and there's no Protectors of light or anything. Make him more unique and be the ONLY light elemental this time. I don't wanna stick with the main 6 elements this time...I wanna see Toa of different elements introduced at some point.

 

Takanuva showing up in the reboot is only a bad idea in the sense that the Bohrok showing up is also a bad idea. Or the piraka showing up is a bad idea. Or Keetongu showing up is a bad idea... All of these characters have been done in Gen1 and I think Gen2 really needs to do something new. I'm absolutely happy with the inclusion of the original Toa in Gen 2 because it's the perfect way to relaunch the line and even though we still know nothing about the story we can at least feel that these sets are somewhat familiar while Lego tries to make us connect with the other characters via  cartoons and comics prior to their release. If they do it again though? Just take the easy route and slap in a bunch of Gen1 characters with new colours and bigger swords? That will be a bad thing IMO...

 

As far as the 'one man makes a difference' and various dues ex machina mcguffins goes. I think a well thought out story is definitely desirable over some sudden hero introduction to save the day. I don't think thta's ever what Takanuva was though. While I may still have my doubts about how far ahead of the game the original story writing team was, I have no doubt at all that Takua could have been planned as the seventh Toa from the get go. He was included as the MNOG playable character after all. That's pretty special when the franchise has barely even released yet...

 

But I still wouldn't want to see that same story again. Ekimu leading the Protectors to battle with new Masks of power though to backup the Toa in their final fight? That would work... You know what would work even better? If Makuta led the protectors into battle to save the Toa
