For the tropers out there, this is a case of Air is Green, Water is Blue.

Of course, they should've given Lewa power over Plantlife, merge Stone and Earth and give Pohatu Air.

I think a big issue with that would have been that it would create inconsistencies between the characters' elements and their personalities. The original Toa's personalities were closely tied to their elements, and most of those traits have been retained in the G2 Toa's personalities. Pohatu's key traits have always been his endurance and rock-solid dependability. Those traits that don't jibe as well with the element of air, which is more often characterized by agility and flightiness.

Perhaps even more importantly than that, you'd run into a similar problem in terms of color scheme. Like the color green, the colors yellow and orange are used to represent air in certain media. But also like the color green, the connection between the color and the element in those cases is not particularly intuitive. A kid picking up a yellow or orange character out of a toy box would probably not automatically associate them with the element of air — particularly if it were the new Pohatu set, which uses Dark Orange as a primary color.

Really? I always picked up on Pohatu's kinda-sort-crazy, not his dependability. Wasn't a "pohatu" slang for running away after setting something to go kaboom? Sounds kinda flighty, not very dependable.

Lewa lives in a jungle. Pohatu lives in a desert. Which one is more open, has more space and is logically windier?

Fair enough, but Stone & Air are two completely different Elements, so the change would look kind of strange. [i'm not saying a reboot can't or shouldn't do that, but that would look odd to me.]

Air and Wood are very, very, very different elements and should remain that way.

Suite yourself; but they have been conflated from the beginning. In both generations it seems (to me).

Think about it. Gen2 Pohatu has the power to fly, has air-themed weapons, and lives in a presumably windy desert. Lewa has axes (which, while they can turn into gliders, are primarily used for chopping trees) a bulkier design and a color scheme one might associate with the jungle (green and yellow.) While brown might not be a very windy color, I still think it could work, give Pohatu flight while they ditching Lewa's flight in favor of athletics, jumping and swinging.

  3.

    merge Stone and Earth

I'm still glad they didn't do this, although I really really wish that way back at the beginning of G1 they instead had Earth & Metal instead of Earth & Stone; but if they did that in G2 too many people would complain methinks.

I get the difference Earth, Stone, & Sand, but Earth & Metal seem like a cooler choice.

I'm happy with Air & Wood being merged or separate.

But giving either Onua or Pohatu, Earth or Metal (or vice versa) would have felt just as awkward as giving Pohatu Air.

But I think Stone/Sand (& limited Air) works for Pohatu, like Sandstorms are cool :3

Lewa lives in a jungle. Pohatu lives in a desert. Which one is more open, has more space and is logically windier?

Air and Wood are very, very, very different elements and should remain that way.

  4. Oh, good God. It's one of those theories.

At least it's not Mata Nui/Makuta equals God/Lucifer, or Matoro is Jesus. I could probably take any religion and put it through Bionicle. Hinduism, Abrahamic religions, paganism, etc. etc.

Karzahni is probably inspired by the Lucifer aspect of the devil. A being of great power and good intentions fallen from grace. Same thing for Makuta. Still, I don't get a "god" vibe from Artakha. He's not all-powerful or omnipotent, so... Yeah. Not quite an exact approximation, but still.

I'm honestly not really a fan of the overall bulkiness of the new Toa. I always imagined Kopaka as a sort of wise and introverted type of Toa, not the "LiFtIn WeIgHtS eVeRyDaY BrOoOOoo" kind lol.

Kopaka's design doesn't look at all like that stereotype. He doesn't look muscular to me, he looks armored and bundled up, traits which I think really suit a cold character with a guarded, reserved personality. On some levels, it's an extension of the way he has always carried a shield. It's a way of showing how he keeps the rest of the world at a distance.

I see your point but it would still be pretty nice if he had a neck lol.

I always thought Onua and Gali were the wise ones, Pohatu and Lewa were the crazy ones, Tahu was the hot-headed one and Kopaka the lone wolf.

Of course, that brings up the problem of Onua's design not looking very "wise." I'm guessing that Gali's the sole voice of reason and Onua got swapped for the Brute. Or perhaps he's like Oleg from Saints Row: The Third, the Big-Brained Brute.

  6. I motion to name our island Hapori Nui.

Also, I motion Master Inika to pen our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution. All in favor, say Aye.

Actually, there's a website where you can create a nation. nationstates.net. It's pretty fun. We could have one person make a thread with a poll and a nationstate, and any decisions that need to be made go through him after a vote made by the collective.

  7. IC Halyx:

"Don't worry about what the others are doing, just focus on what you can do! Now, if you don't mind..." Halyx summoned all his strength into a single blast of fire and aimed it at Jorik.

    IC Jorik:

The blast severely injured poor Jorik, who decided that it wasn't worth the fight. He'd deal with the group later. He flew away as fast as he could, then landed somewhere near the Po-Ko border.

    IC Halyx:

"He's gone... Are we all here?"

  8. I'm just going to assume that he meant to say Mata Nui and roll with it, but yeah, lets refrain from bringing that stuff up in News and Discussion.

It was a joke. You know all those "If X, then Y" where Y is Jesus crying and X being some event or conflict.

Of course, if I did bring up Bionicle Jesus, then I would obviously be talking about Matoro.

  9. IC Jorik:

Jorik was a little more than annoyed, but no matter. He sent a much larger gust of wind to not only summon more waterspouts to limit the firespitters' powers, but also to knock over the others. Halyx would die this day, and his friends too.

    IC Halyx:

"Leron, Seneaux! Get those launchers prepped and start shooting! Leron, Guvla, stop those waterspouts!  Visalk and Lumira, pull us out! I REALLY don't want to stay here!"

  10. IC Jorik:

Jorik summoned a windstorm that dissipated the fireball, then summoned another one that created a waterspout that began gravitating towards the ship.

    IC Halyx:

"Visalk, you were saying?" Halyx tried to conjure some fire, but the wet conditions made it difficult. "Guvla, can you get that waterspout out of here?"

  11. IC Jorik:

Twice. Twice had these so-called "Toa" bested him. He wouldn't make that mistake again. He activated his mask and flew towards the ship, and began firing upon it with his Patero.

    IC Tallix:

Tallix dragged himself out of the water. Seeing the strange flying object firing upon his old ship, he felt both a pang of sadness and a feeling of glee. Sadness towards his ship, but glee towards knowing that his enemies would be decimated.

    IC Halyx:!

"Guys! We're getting shot at! It's the assassin! We're going have to save the introductions for later, just head to one of the disk launchers and start shooting!

  12. Oh blimey people so much vitriol from both side. Let's take a step back, cool our heads and apologize for any misunderstandings or offense that may have been caused. Come on guys the BZPRPG is supposed to be fun, let's keep it that way.

Can we hold hands and sing kumbaya?

This. When staff and players get into an argument, it makes Bionicle Jesus cry.

Of course, I prefer singing Les Mis songs.

    Let the wine of friendship

Alright we need to draw up blueprints for a giant Mata Nui, Optimus Prime, and Princess Celestia robot, now where do we get the money for that and how do we build it

We'll make them out of Protodermis, which is in Earth core.

Or we buy Hawai islands, there are vulcanos which: 1. gives you Ta-Wahi-like feeling; 2. products lava which can be in very clever way redirected to form Mata-Nui shape.

So how do we buy Hawaii? Or do we just invade?

    Widgets. That or Komau.

    Dear President Obama,

We here at the BZPower forums would like to buy up the Hawaiian Islands for the lump sum of 180 40-tooth gears and 80 3-module axle pieces so we can turn our LEGO fandom into a proper nation. Also, here is our declaration of independence.

    Signed,

    All of us.

A mock-up of box art for a system MOC I've done inspired by the old Classic Space sets. I'll give more exposition on the who, what and why of this theme later, but for now, this is my answer to Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!

From the final result, I think I got the wrong answer. But, I spent a while on this thing, so here you go.

    EDIT: Here's a blog where you can see more of my sets;

    Lego Galaxy

  15. OOC: Emissary? He's alive, he's alive!

    IC Halyx:

Halyx ran back to the ship as fast as he could. "Lumira! You've moved! Glad to see it. We're getting a new arrival shortly, so... Yeah. Leron, Guvla! Hurry up! We need to get to Forsi!"
