  1. Does nobody remember that Matoran were originally simply lifeless, mechanical things? What gave them life and sapience was the Mask of Life. Thus event is detailed in Legends...#3 I think.
  2. Its cool to see an Arrow character I LEGO form! I'm a fan of the show, so this is pretty cool to see. Sucks he's an SDCC exclusive, I'd love to have him without spending a ton if money to get him on eBay after the fact.
  3. Lewa Phantoka is pretty solid build-wise, and keeps a bit of consistancy in Lewa's overall aesthetic. In my opinion, he's the best of that wave of Toa, and of that entire year. But it is funny that not a single person has yet to vote for him as of right now haha
  4. For the Mata, I chose Pohatu. His build looked unnatural and weird, and his function didn't work if he was placed standing. I think all the Mata are solid, and all have their drawbacks, but Pohatu wins that one. Choosing a Nuva was tough because they're all kind of bad. I chose Gali because she looked so darn big and her mask is by far one of the worst because it simply doesn't seem feminine NOR gender-neutral. Pohatu or Onua are close seconds. All the Mistika are really kind of bad as well. I chose Onua because while his build was solid, he seemed nothing like a Toa of Earth, nor his past self. Gali is next because her mask, and Tahu is last because, while his build is illogical, it's at least kind of good.
  5. Besides being an awesome Toa-hero?! A Makuta would be cool...except that whole "shunned inner-light" kind of thing that makes them so evil. I don't want to be inherently evil. But them powers tho I think truthfully, a Steltian (Sidorak's species). They're tall and powerful and just generally cool-looking ...Or maybe a Ko-Matoran...
  6. It's hard to detatch from biases and look at this objectively. For small sets, the Mahritoran are solid and strong looking, without looking too small or powerful. The Voyatoran are a close second, if o ly for their unique builds. Heroes is a tough one. I went with Inika, just because they were so groundbreaking at the time. 13 points of articulation? Repeating launchers? Light up weapons? Separate builds and unique mish-mashes of color? So dope back in the day. Villains is also kind of hard, because the villains are typically more aesthetically interesting. But...Bohrok. Bohrok. Yes.
  7. Prowl and I are on the same page. As soon as I put Lewa I was like: "That's not gonna fly. He needs to move his head." XD I like my solution. It doesn't change his look too much, and nothing needs major adjustment to the point where his appearance or construction suffers. EDIT: No pun intended on my head-thoughts. That was not deliberately typed haha
  8. I literally just separated his gearbox+arms from his torso+legs and moved it up one. I'll post pics tomorrow (as where I am its 2:15am)if you would like to see what I mean. It makes his shoulders seem slightly less buffed up, but his head has space to do a full 360 and still look natural, like it was meant to be built that way.
  9. Mata Nui! fishers64, I feel like you may be the only one that understands each of our opinions. You hit the nail on the head, so thanks for keeping things clear with all the smoke around
  10. I would disagree. I've read, watched, and written enough to see the good and bad of something like that. Of course, that's just my opinion, so that's neither here nor there. You simply expanded upon my point, in the negative aspect. ("CAN be")
  11. I don't understand why everyone is still on about this. I don't believe anyone except Salvus has said anything remotely saying "it SHOULD have ended that way." I said the exact opposite in my last post, and anyone "advocating" for said ending is simply defending its validity. Also, shocking twists CAN be good storytelling, so you may want to reword that.
  12. Sahmad's Tale ended after Journey's End, do you except that one? Just curious.Eeehhh, see that's the problem. I wish I could change my vote, now that I've rethought it in the past few minutes. I acknowledge everything Greg wrote, and anything considered canon, but I'd like it if Journey's End was the end. It keeps things a bit cleaner. I'd also like to take a second and explain what I have been trying to convey in my previous posts. I LIKE the Makuta-winning-ending. I WOULD NOT have liked it to end that way. I said that differently in my first post. It wouldn't have been a very Bionicle-ish ending. I just hate that everything after that ended up being a mess.
  13. I'm not going to argue anymore. I've stated my opinion, and the only thing people seem to pick up on is my love for the 2008 ending, not that I even bothered offering my opinion on the later years. I've loved Bionicle ever since the start, and to imply I didn't just because I like the depressing ending that actually wasnt the ending is uncalled for. Back on point, I don't really have an ending for Bionicle, because it was a mess to follow after the line ended. Do I consider JE the End? Yeah, I do. Because the alternative is accepting seemingly-unfinished story bits. I'd rather have a vague ending than none at all.
  14. You all have very valid points. However, I think that if it had ended with Makuta's victory, it still would have been awesome. Yes, if it were to end there, it SHOULD end with Mata Nui awakening and Makuta somehow losing, but that would have been predictable. But still, I think the Glatorian story should have started with Mata Nui's landing, to give the story some more space, before it got cut off along with the line.
  15. Well, that's a depressing universe your bionicles are left in. The evil overlord has taken over, and now they live in a tyrannical regime where literally the entire universe enforces his will on you.Which is something I love as both a story teller myself, and lover of fiction. Bionicle was very much a story of good versus evil, and the good guys always came out on top, despite Makuta's ever-present evil and numerous schemes. But in the end, despite all their struggles and countless victories... The bad guy won. He conned EVERYONE into helping him. He got what he wanted. It's a twist I loved, and sending Mata Nui off into space was a wink to perhaps more, but it wasn't definite. I almost feel like the Glatorian thing SHOULD have been a soft reboot. That, or make Mata Nui land on Bara Magna from the start so things didn't seems so crammed and rushed.
  16. I've got a loose McToran Kongu, if that'll do. PM me if you're interested in a trade!
  17. Personally, I'm inclined to agree. However, I recall in my earlier days on BZPower someone admitted to being scared by them, and it's why the movie was given a PG rating instead of the usual G (quite a feat, considering the Incredibles was rated G, leaving it a considerable double standard). LoMN was given the same rating because of Makuta's takeover/grimdark ending, and WoS pushed that rating, for, ah, Vortixx reasons. "Kids" movies push boundaries all the time. The Bionicle movies were no different. When films are rated, the general public has to be kept in mind, not just a few people. I'd like to point out though that The Incredibles WAS rated PG, and was the first Pixar film to be rated as such.
  18. Hello! When it comes to BST, the best way to go about posting your thread is to keep it simple, and thorough. List your sets (or etc) in an organized manner, either by category or year or something. Give straight, but simple descriptions of the set (ie, is it in good condition, is it complete, is it a special edition/rare collectible, etc), as well as maybe price points, if you want. This is the most important thing, I think, though. Talk to people! Be friendly, and willing to chat with someone if they're interested in trading or buying. I find that being personable is really the best, because it'll establish trust between you, the seller, and they, the buyer. Good luck on your efforts!!
  19. It varies. Most of the time, spontaneous ideas centers around simple things like "hey, I've never seen that piece used with that piece" or etc. Usually from there, it snowballs and things just get experimented upon until something cool results. For example, I wanted to see what other torsos besides the Metru one could use the Matoran torso body as armor. I ended up sticking a red one on a Makuta Phantoka torso, and ended up making a simple Sidorak. Sometimes MOCS start out being centered around one piece. Like Gali Mistika's shoulder spike pads. I said to myself "Yo, this piece is dope. I want something else to use it" (or something along those lines.) All if a sudden, you're constructing something just because you want to use a certain piece a certain way. Recently though, yes, I have done quite some extensive planning to build specific characters using specific pieces, etc. I have made so many Bricklink trips .-. What sucks is having an image in your head and not having the pieces available. I was devastated (that's sarcasm, BTW) when I discovered the Inika thigh armor did not come in lime green. I had to make adjustments to fit what substitutions I had. Also, creating Toa and the like and not quite having a mask that fits the character is also a bummer.
  20. In all seriousness though, I think Aanchir is right. There aren't many lines that could be both a secret "I'm a fan!" code, AND something that could be played off casually. There also aren't any outstanding lines that appeal to EVERY Bionicle fan. I agree with some others here when I say that the MoL line is the best one.
  21. This would probably be the easiest one to play off as a joke if it turns out you're dealing with a non-fan. Also could be useful at picking up female fans? *Pro-tip, do NOT try to pick up female Bionicle fans with that line. There are a thousand ways to pick up female fans. And 941 of them are better than that.
  22. I have most sets years stored in their original canisters, all together like a game of Tetris in boxes that are labeled. The boxes are kept in a closet with easy access. There are some exceptions, 2007 being most notable as that year's canisters are god-awful. All the Barraki and Mahri are loose, folded away in a box carefully. Titans and larger sets are in boxes all their own, and not together by year or relation. Pieces are stored away in plastic bins. I'd like to reorganize things to make it more friendly, but I'm not sure I have the effort lol
  23. My god, what did I start. It was just a passing remark, and now it's half a thread... Yeah, I'm new to the forum game xD Back on topic, thanks all for the paint advice. And everyone's already mentioned what I would have said about my Nidhiki moc, so...well that's about it I guess.
  24. This is an incredibly difficult question. I can't give reasons cuz it'd take forever, but to list a few... Tahu's flamesword, Tahu Nuva Flameswords Lewa's axe Lewa's air katanas Kopaka's sword The Inika weapons Jaller Mahri's Powersword Hahli Mahri's Talon Lewa's Air Saber Takanuva's Powerlance Lhikan's Fire Greatswords Rhotuka shield Lesovikk's airsword Those stand out as great pieces, aesthetically. Personal favorites are the Rhotuka Shield And Power lance. Kopaka's original sword is also a lot of fun. EDIT: also, Gen2, Pohatu's whatever-rangs. Those are sick.
  25. Its hard not to just say all of them, because, frankly, they have all had great qualities. Lesovikk's backstory was tragic, and he spent much of his life trying to rectify it. Nidhiki was a kickbutt guy, who defected because why not, and got karma-punished because of it. Matau had great character development in his time as a Toa, and you clearly see it if you read the books, etc. He's also hilarious. Kongu was dope when he was a Matoran, and continued that tradition as a Toa. He was a G. ("Two hands.") Lewa embodies the free spirit of air, but was also a character that went through a lot, as well as having many great moments. From being infected either a kanohi or krana, to the moment in the Bohrok nests (that wall only exists while you believe it in, Tahu), Lewa is just great. But if I had to pick a personal favorite... Set-wise: Lesovikk, hands down. Dunno why, but I love him. Character-wise: Matau.
