  1. That. The original Disk Slizor/Bionicle hands were so versatile! I dislike the new Bionicle hands. Those are less versatile.
  2. Chro & Dark Blue: Ok, Maybe "bulky" in a sense that there are some large shell and weapon pieces that are hard to work with for a Toa/Matoran sized MOC. Like I've noticed the Toa's weapons are way larger compared to 2004-2005 pieces. How are you supposed to make a custom design with that? I can see it easy customizing for Titans or if you want to make your character anime style characters with big weapons. But, eh. Idk. Maybe that's just my nostalgic perception...that I really need to change soon. Wally & Aanchir: Thanks for the Technic/CCBS work around tips. I'm pretty sure if I have enough of those pieces, I can really take advantage of the shell armor on certain technic beams and whatnot. I already tried kind of doing that with my recent matoran MOC for his waist. I think I have a good idea of how to effectively use the shell pieces. However the limb pieces (arms and legs), especially the short ones are a bit trickier to customize but I think I'll figure a way around that. Thank you all for such great CCBS MOCing advice!
  3. [if in wrong section, please move post to appropriate subject. If a similar topic has been already answered, please direct me to it (because I couldn't find it on the forums)] I have no doubt that Bionicle Gen2 is going to continue using the bulky armor plates and ball&joint socket CCBS/Hero Factory piece design 90% of the time. I used to despise CCBS, but now I want to learn to build/like it (because of Bionicle coming back)! I can see them working well for making custom Titan MOCs, but not very practical if you're trying to make a custom Toa or Matoran sized MOCs (because the pieces are just too bulky). Another problem I face is that I find it difficult to combine CCBS with Technic/Bionicle Gen1 due to the fact they don't have any axle and pin inserts. Is there a way to work around that? If so, that would be a big help! For the record, I only own 3 CCBS sets. Stormer 1.0, Hero Factory Witch Doctor, and Kopaka Master of Ice. And I still cannot find any use from these pieces to use in my MOCs! :/ Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
  4. I would of preferred it if they haven't brought back the gen 1 Bionicle characters. Having the original Toa Mata included in Gen 2 is a bit...eh. But I just assume this is like a prequel to the 2001 storyline...right?
  5. Favorite main-ish character?: Nuju Favorite side character (that I wish to see developed more)?: Nixie (you know, that ga-matoran.
  6. I would hecks yeah buy it! It includes gear functions!!!
  7. Tohunga sounds like tribe islanders (Mata Nui). But matoran seems like city people from Metru Nui.
  8. The 03 matoran. Because it's like Bionicle's version of LEGO Sports: Hockey. And hey! They have gears on a small set! That was cool.
  9. Another Hafu baaaaahriginal. I just kind of threw that out there. Because "Mahi Toi" in the Maori dictionary means art or craft. But Hafu the Goat, lol! That just threw me off!
  10. I thought what LEGO did with the right arm was pretty creative. I was kind of disappointed that they didn't do the same thing with the left arm. Why did they have to make it so uneven??? ALL the pieces were great for MOCing. But the actual set itself, it seemed too hollow. In my opinion, the Toa Hordika were not bad sets, they shouldn't been afraid to add more buff to them. Beasts are supposed to be big and buff. Not anorexic.
  11. I was wondering if it is possible that Bionicle characters, such as the matoran, have last names? It seems this rule only applies for the Toa in order to classify them of what island/section they are defending and protecting. For example: Toa Mata (Defenders protecting their island home, Mata Nui) Toa Metru (Defenders protecting their island home, Metru Nui) Toa Mahri (Defenders protecting Mahri Nui) However, then you get into other instances where the toas' last name are considered unique for particular specialties/situations. Such as: Toa Nuva (Toa Mata that has been transformed by Energized Protodermis making them more powerful) Toa Hagah (They represent guards of the Brotherhood of Makuta) Toa Inika (Matoran who were transformed by lightning that descended from the Red Star) My question is to you...Do you think the matoran would have last names as well? For example, in order to classify of the specific skill that they are most great in? Would it make sense? Such as "Hafu Mahi" (Hafu, 'the crafter')? I honestly can't imagine there being thousands of matoran in Metru Nui (throwing it out there), without someone having the same first name, you know?
  12. Sorry, but I just would like to expand upon this part of my post. It would make a great excuse to use the meh-cannon Bionicle elements in there such as; Iron, Lightning, Magnetism, Gravity, Plasma, and Sonics in order to fit the whole Cyber-Techno theme a bit more. In a way, it kind of makes sense for these elements to make apparent in this theme, than the 6 natural/traditional elements if it comes down to it.
  13. I am more interested in the culture and setting that takes place in the original Bionicle Universe than anything else. Because I usually like to build off of LEGO's story foundation and create my own scenarios from there. Sort of like what LEGO has done with past themes, such as Alpha Team, LEGO Island, and City. I think 2001-2003 & 2004-2005's culture was told well (probably due to the promos, novels, and games. Such as MNOG). I wished we could of got a more in-depth culture for 2006-2010. It was pretty brief, and it didn't have that same 'umph' that the previous had. However, what makes 2006-2010 unique, was the setting and where it takes place. For example, it would take in the Abyss (2007), High Peaks (2008), and Apocalyptic (2009). Where I am getting at is that is that maybe we could get another unique environmental setting where the Bionicle Reboot could take place. That way, it wouldn't be so generic and boring. But don't forget to go in-depth of the matoran culture! Such explorable environments could on Space Travel (like Destiny game), Pure Underground (like City of Ember book), and/or Techno-Cyberpunk-Tron-like Neon World (like Far Cry: Blood Dragon). If we get a Techno-like environment some point in the Bionicle Reboot, that would be awesome! Can you imagine? Neon, see through, and glow-in-the-dark Bionicle pieces! That could give LEGO an excuse to use purple pieces in their sets! Sure, we could get another generic island environment where the story could take place in. But where's the fun in that?
  14. What a troll topic, made by a troll user (considering "his" age is 95 years old). But I have to admit, I really like 2001-2005 Bionicle sets/storyline the most. How can you miss 2005? That was the coolest part! The sets were awesome, introduce of Bionicle System, and it shown the Toa Metru coming of age!
  15. No, I don't subscribe to the LEGO Magazine CURRENTLY. However, I am going to be upset that would no longer be able to subscribe to the magazine again. I was planning to sub to the mag again around December 2014, so I could possibly get the first Bionicle Reboot comic. How is LEGO going to tell that we are 13 or older, anyway? Couldn't we just simply lie about our age or say "yeah, I have a 'kid.' Here is my parent-like email address."
  16. I don't have a "absolutely no revivals in story" preference. I have a "don't abuse the suspension of disbelief and create a deus ex machina that lets you underscore every dramatic moment in the series and also reintroduces countless pointless characters in a story already full of clutter and bloat" preference. I like to call it a "good story" preference. Somehow bringing Takanuva back to life? Interesting. Using Makuta's essence to bring Jaller back to life? Better. Having a spaceship up above full of almost every fan-favourite side character ever? Lazy writing. BIONICLE was a series that had too many characters of interest, and didn't have the media support to properly utilize all of them. Things like that are what fan fiction is for- not what the official series is for. It muddied the waters and created confusion in fans. Again, as evidenced by TLG themselves cancelling it and citing the bloated story as one of the primary reasons! Yeah, stuff like that kind of boggles my mind when the story presents itself with outrageous unexplainable events. I tried over-looking them, or have tried to come up with my "own reasoning" why these certain unexplainable events happen. While the story was fine, what I loved most about Bionicle though (especially 2001-2005) was the character development and setting. Character Development: 2001-2003: Meaning you get to see the Toa Mata building trust from one another, and working as a team eventually. Using Unity! 2004-2005: It was interesting to see how "young" and "inexperience" the Toa Metru started off in the beginning, but then started to "come of age," especially with the events of the Hordika beast experiences the team had been through. Setting: 2001-2005: I don't know if it was the form of really great media, promo cds, or novels. But it felt like I was actually visiting the island of Mata Nui and Metru Nui, feeling welcomed with their awesome culture compared to later years. - For some reason, I used to view the story as a 'side thing.' You know, something to be taken lightly. Because back then, I (and maybe others) had viewed Bionicle 2001-2003 as a regular ol' LEGO Theme. Such if it was Alpha Team, Johnny Thunder, and Life on Mars. It had a story, but it was only there as a foundation for you to use, so you can build upon your own adventures. I guessed when 2004 came around, LEGO wasn't messing around. This seem to be if it was going to be a full-fledged theme for only the hardcore fans to understand for the coming later years. In my opinion I think it went out of hand in 2006, and as for the sets; the traditional Bionicle 'technic' elements had started to dissolve away at that point. What happened to the gear functioned sets?! Maybe that is why around the time, I was just holding onto strings at this point in following the Bionicle storyline in 2006-2007, and just simply let go in 2008+. It lost its traditional ways it used to have like what the other classic themes had. Idk, it is kind of difficult to explain. I honestly wouldn't mind if the Bionicle 2015's reboot story was just as simple as Hero Factory or Chima for example. As long as it engages me, provides me a unique universe and culture to explore in. Just enough room for adding my own adventures in there, I'm good!
  17. Oh darn, I must've flew past that part. So let me get this straight, in 2003 Takanuva's duty to defeat Makuta was one of many To-Dos in order for Mata Nui to be awaken? But in 2006, the Turaga also found out that Mata Nui is dying? (Jeeze! I would figure that Nixie would point that out by now in 2001-2003). So in 2006, not only he was still in "slumber-mode," but dying as well??? I thought the whole reason why the Toa Nuva was going around to various locations (Gali Nuva Blog 2006-2007) was to prepare for Mata Nui's 'true revival' as soon as he was restored to health from the Ignika. Great! This is getting confusing! Sorry being ignorant around this point of the story. I guess I can say now where Bionicle went wrong for me was trying to catch up with the extensive lore that LEGO kept added on and on throughout the years. You can much guessed that I got lost with the story after 2007. There needs to be some breathing room for the Bionicle universe to remain a mystery for us, so we could come up with our own ideas and thoughts. Idk.
  18. After my "favorite matoran" from 2001 had sacrificed himself for Mata Nui's revival, the story just dissipated for me from 2008 storyline and outward. It is not because my favorite character had been deceased (kinda), but it just doesn't make any sense why Bionicle should continue the way it does for 2008 and beyond. I regretting in not following the 2008+ storyline back then. So I went back and tried re-reading the old comics and lore. However, there is some kind of disconnection that I truly don't understand in what happened in between 2007-2008 storyline, and I was wondering if someone could help me on this...I've posted something similar to this in a 'neighboring' Bionicle fan site (if you know what I'm talking about), but I want to provide my Q here due to BZP having a larger fan-base. Alright... Here is my interpretation...In 2003, Takanuva had awoken Mata Nui from his slumber.2006, the Turaga found out that Mata Nui is dying, and it is up to the Toa Inika to find the Mask of Life to save Mata Nui.2007, Matoro revived Mata Nui, then hooray. Mata Nui is not only awoken, but alive. (This is the part I am having trouble grasping...)In 2008, Mata Nui needs to be awaken from this slumber (again???) from the Toa Nuva...WAIT WHAT?!?!? I'm confused! Did I miss something, or misinterpret something??? Can someone explain to me why there had to be an "excuse" for the Bionicle (Mata Nui involved) storyline to be continued in 2008+?
  19. I love the fact that the shadow of "me" is the first-gen mata matoran. Great job! Edit: darn. It double posted
  20. I love the fact that the shadow of "me" is the first-gen mata matoran. Great job!
  21. I thought bionicle would end after the 2007 storyline. But that was because I probably didn't bother to see what would go on after (my favorite) matoran had passed. Although, some people here did think the 2008 storyline is just as good. So maybe I'll go read the novels if I ever get around to it.
  22. Most Fav: Books - They were memorable. You can vision what is going on! Least Fav: Movies/Films - The props and set pieces were pretty good. But the character design disappoints me (since it doesn't look like the sets for the most part), and it just felt dumbed down compared to the books.
