  1. It probably is going to replace the DS line.  Which, on the one hand, means you just need to buy one Nintendo console and you'll be set for this generation.  But, since handheld consoles are usually cheaper, this could make it more difficult to get your hands on handheld Nintendo games. (I wonder if it'd be possible to release the tablet by itself as a separate, cheaper console, sort of in the same vein as the 2DS?) Plus it doesn't look like that thing is going to fit in my pocket.

The Switch does look really neat, though!  I wish I could afford one.

  2. Nah, I'm still waiting for that sith Jar-Jar leak you promised a while ago

That was Kingdom Hearts so I'm gonna retcon that.

Well... Ash Greninja also has a boost of 50 to each attack and 10 to speed... So it's kinda a bit useful above and beyond the Water Shuriken boost. =P

I did not know that, thank you for telling me.

    "We're not bad-we're just hard!"

My favorite quote from the demo.

Mine was probably "Were you flew here or were you grew here?"

Team Skull is made of losers.

Regarding it being short, do keep in mind that the game will continue to unlock content (including items that can be sent to the main game) over the course of the month. Moreso than other game demos I've played, this demo (like the ORAS demo before it) seems aimed not just at giving a taste of the full game but also at maintaining the hype for the game up to the release date.

Yeah, that is neat, I was just saying the initial "story" of it was on the short side.  Which makes sense for a demo, so...wait, why did I say that?  Huh.

  3. You realise that the Myers-Brigg Type Indicator isn't a very good indicator of personality test, right? It's mostly nonsense and it's been heavily scrutinised and criticised by many.

My favorite description of it is "astrology for people who don't believe astrology"

  4. I watched about half of it and I'm still not convinced.  It seems to make a lot of assumptions and merge together several mythic concepts for no particular reason other than it achieves the end they want.  Referencing a bunch of mythologies doesn't mean the end either--Final Fantasy has referenced basically every mythos and it's still around.  Plus, it still doesn't specify what they mean by "reboot", so I still don't understand what it is they're talking about.

And I mean, doesn't every Generation of Pokemon have a bunch of people saying it'll be the last one?  It seems like this is just more of that.

  5. It's just, I've tried finding short summaries of this type of theory before, and what little I can find that isn't in a long video is just pointing to references to previous Generations, and I don't see how that possibly leads to assuming there's going to be a reboot...and I'm not even sure what "reboot" would mean in this context.

I mean, Pokemon has been remaking previous games since Gen III, so doing new Kanto remakes wouldn't be that big a deal. (Would be neat, but not that huge.) "Reboot" just sounds so weird in this context because Pokemon games aren't really that connected to each other, just some nods (outside of obvious exceptions like Johto games and B2W2).  If we assume they're all in one timeline then maybe expecting a "reboot" means we're expecting a new timeline to begin, but ORAS already implied that in Delta Episode, so...how is that a theory going forward?

I don't know, I might skim it later.  What I've been able to gather thus far just doesn't make any sense to me.

  6. What frustrated me the most was the Pokemon who are only available via ORAS Dex Nav.  You just run around until the Dex Nav says there's a Pokemon nearby, pray to God it's the one you need, and then hope no other Pokemon appears until you reach it.

Oh, and the Hitmons.  For starters, Tyrogue is one of those Dex Nav Pokemon, and then it evolves based on the relationship between its Attack and Defense stats.  It took a few tries to get all three.

But you're right, it's more time-consuming than outright hard.  And the feeling you get when it's complete is just awesome!

  7. It's been a while since I've watched that.  All I really remember is being disappointed it was another "string of short stories" sequel instead of having one main plot.  Maybe I should take another look at it.

...Also I'm still laughing at the idea of a Muppet Show world.  Imagine Statler and Waldorf in that setting.

“These Final Fantasy characters sure have some weird names.”

“I know!  Cloud, Squall, Lightning—I think the staff must’ve left the Weather Channel on!”

“But there is actually a similarity between Final Fantasy and the weather.”

    “What’s that?”

“The people who care about it check expert analysis on it every day…and they still can’t make any sense of it!”

    OOOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO!

  8. Dude I want that Muppet World. Like on the set of the Muppet Show back when the Muppets were actually funny.

In that case they could give you sidequests to bring random characters from other worlds on to be guests on The Muppet Show.  Mickey one week, Cloud the next, Cerberus, Winnie the Pooh, my gosh that would be hilarious!  And after beating the game you can bring the final boss on.  You have found the best possible interpretation of this idea and I thank you.

    Frik yes Atlantis.

    Huzzah, fellow Atlantis fan!
