  1. IC Nen and Thama:"Though he does not show it, I have no doubt that he worries a great deal about his unit. They're his friends that he has been entrusted to lead and protect. Beneath that confident exterior and do-anything attitude, I'm sure Kalama privately worries a great deal about them all. At the same time, he puts that aside when facing other people. A military life isn't for everyone, and it takes a lot to be a commander of a unit, but we need to remember that even without being a part of the military or having to lead a group we can still be just as good. In fact, you could make a case that going alone is just as bad as not being in a group, because at least you have people that will support you when you need to. If you're on your own, you have nobody to check with to confirm your actions are right, nbody to confess your feelings to. I've been a hermit once, it was spent being paranoid and relying on myself. I'm glad I'm not in that situation anymore."Nen quickly drew his sword and swung back, deflecting the blow away and pushing Xibre away from him. He readied himself for any follow-up attacks from the matoran.
  2. IC Nen:"I guess so," Nen replied. "I suppose you want me to not use my mask or elemental powers?"
  3. IC Thama:"Now Tanuka, I think I might know one reason why you don't feel invincible like Kalama and the other marines is that you don't have any self-confidence. It seems like you spend most of your time gushing about how amazing and remarkable Kalama is, without bringing up your own accomplishments. Now, you don't want to brag and get a huge ego, but you need to remember that you can do good things too. Tell me, would anyone have gotten the kanohi if they didn't have you, the talented scholar? Half the things Kalama survives seem to be only because of luck or the universe having a habit of putting him in danger only so he can pull off some super escape of wonder. He's not the only awesome person around, Tanuka. You're one of those people too. If he can touch a mask nobody else can touch than he must have something special going on, but you can be special at something else too. Have faith in yourself and your abilities and they'll serve you well when the time of necessity comes." Thama paused, then added, "If he drops his team into lava, he doesn't exactly sound like the perfect hero you keep building him up as. Even if they can get through it, dropping people into lava is not the way to go about dealing with a situation. Even if he doesn't have to follow the toa code, he shouldn't make statements about toa today being bad if he can go around killing things just because."
  4. IC Thama:"Well, if you're destined for greatness, and you haven't done that yet, then that makes you effectively immortal until you've completed your destiny of doing great things," Thama explained. "So really, just try to get in as many good things as possible in this time of immortality so that when you do great things it won't be surprising and come out of nowhere."
  5. OOC: Thama went with Tanuka to check on the turaga. The rest of us are in a separate group at the entrance to the koro. I'm sorry if that has not been entirely obvious.IC Nen:"Well, Thama and Tankua are off trying to talk to the turaga, so I guess we could either search for clues, or relax and take some time to sight see while we wait for them to be done," Nen answered.IC Thama:"Huh. That is the first time anyone's asked me that," Thama responded. "You see, I used to be a Le-matoran, just like any other. Except for being female of course. It's not as odd as a male Ga-matoran because Ga-koro is a village that has the distinct reputation of being predominately female, so gender differences weren't that important. I used to be a bow-maker and archer, crafting bows, competing in sporting competitions, that sort of thing. Le-Koro's all about accuracy so it made sense. And none of the guys could tease me because I knew where to hit the vines holding their huts to make them fall and I could do it from across the village. Bullies don't bother you much when you can hit them without exiting your hut. Eventually, I became a toa, towards the beginning of the mass toa creation event. Still not sure on the specifics. It happened to loads of other people though, so it wasn't quite the warm and fuzzy 'YOU'RE SPECIAL!' feeling it could have been. So I took my bow and went off to go find some toa things to do."I later met up with a toa of fire named Kalence and a water toa named Harynthia. They shared my ideas that we should do good things for the islanders, and we went out and recruited 3 others who had similar ideals to form a team. We went around the villages, stopping rahi attacks, reconstructing structures damaged during attacks, all sorts of stuff. It was great."Eventually, trouble happened. Gradually we all started getting a bit more reckless, more short-tempered, nothing seemed right. At the time it felt normal to me, I mean, my friends were there and we were having fun as a group. We had all this power, why not have fun? Things got a bit odd when we all started hearing this voice in our heads, telling us to go to an area near Kini-Nui. It promised us an oppurtunity to serve an even higher cause. We, being rather foolish and already corrupted, agreed. We went to the Kini-Nui area where we were greeted by the voice of the one trying to hire us. We were talking to Makuta himself. He offered us two options: join him and gain a ruling position after his dominence came, or perish. My friends, one by one accepted his offer, not out of survival, but because they wanted this. They wanted to join him. I was shocked at the whole thing. I wanted to be with my friends, but I realized they had changed too much, corrupted by darkness. So I ran. I ran and teleported as quick as I could, but they were able to catch up and I was stuck fighting for my life. It was five against one, so it didn't exactly go well for me but they were so focused on trying to kill me that I was able to evade them. I ran and made a hut for myself in the wilderness to hide in and I stayed there, training myself for the day when I would need to fight again. I actually ended up meeting Nen recently when he saved me from an attack after I witnessed the toa who wanted to kill Macku attack Ga-Koro. I got lucky. But for now, we need to focus on business. Where's that turaga at?"
  6. IC Thama:Making Tanuka was following her, Thama walked over to Whenua's hut and knocked once more on the door, waiting for a response.
  7. IC Thama:"That's rather worrysome," Thama commented. "If someone is manipulating water like that and you can sense it from here it must be close or really bad. Regardless, we all have work to do. Right now, I'd like Tanuka to come with me to talk to Whenua. Meanwhile, Cyrax and Nen can lead you guys to try searching for information on Taipu. Is that okay with everyone, and does everyone understand their job?"
  8. IC Nen and Thama:Thama reappeared in front of the group. "To answer your question, Tanuka, if we don't find Taipu, we'll probably end up going to Rock Frost so we can meet up with Kalama whenever he returns. However, if we do that we should probably leave some people behind to keep an eye out for minions of Makuta. But before we do any of that we need to talk to the turaga, but I don't know if he's currently free.""So while we wait for Whenua to be free, we can continue trying to get Cyrax and JL to reveal their love for one another," Nen added."... Yeah, we can do that... or something," Thama said.
  9. IC Nen and Thama:"I guess I'll go ask the turaga then," Thama remarked. "Again, thank you for your time." She turned and walked away. I guess I'll go find the group, check in and get them up to speed, she thought. She soon found the much larger than anticipated group with Cyrax already among them."Hi Thama!" Nen shouted in greeting. "How goes it?""It goes quite slowly," she replied. "It's good to see you all. I suppose Cyrax has informed you all of our plans once we find Taipu. The problem is that Onepu doesn't seem to know anything, and the turaga might not be at his hut yet. I'm going to go and see if he's in. If he isn't, I'll wait outside until he shows up. As with Onepu, we don't want to crowd him with several different voices saying the same thing. I'm not sure what you can do until then, but I guess you could ask around. Onepu said no one has seen him but you could try.""We could check Taipu's hut," Nen suggested."We can't do that unless we have permission from the Turaga. Surprisingly enough, we can't go breaking and entering, even when the occupant of a hut is missing. I'm off to go see the turaga. Don't cause too much chaos.""Before you go, do you think Cyrax and JL like each other?" Nen asked.Thama looked at Cyrax and JL. "Yes," she said. She activated her mask and vanished, appearing back outside the turaga's hut. She looked to see if he was there.
  10. IC Nen and Thama:"I am personally of the opinion the JL and Cyrax would make a lovely couple," Nen commented. "As for swords..." He examined his sword. It wasn't any particular style or type in any way. ".. I have a sword. If you can fight with swords well, get a sword that you can use."Thama sighed. This wasn't the response she had hoped for, but she didn't want to trouble Onepu. Troubling the leader of the local law enforcement would make any subsequent search efforts ineffective. She'd just have to wait for the turaga to return and try talking to him. "I'm sorry to bring this up, really. If you know anyone else I could try to talk to while I wait for the turaga to be free, it would be nice, but I don't want to hassle you any longer. If you don't have any info I'll be on my way. Thank you for your time though," she said to Onepu.
  11. IC Nen:"I guess you could try talking in a loud voice, but don't do it too much. We don't need any cave ins or property damage to ruin our day."IC Thama:Thama turned to Cyrax. "I can only hope he's still in there. I'm giving him time to think. If Nen and the others show up though, it'd be best if you could keep them away while I get the information so we don't overwhelm anyone with a large crowd of people. Everybody who knows anything is going to be paranoid and secretive, and we don't want to mess this up." She resumed watching Onepu's door for anything, any little hint that he would help them.
  12. IC Nen:"If you got lost in there someone would help you out. We're all nice people here in Onu-Koro, minor exceptions aside. Now, we need to find Thama and Cyrax. I wonder if they've found Taipu yet..."IC Thama: Thama continued to wait and see if Onepu would respond. Hopefully we can get a hint of where Taipu is from this guy before the others show up. It's probably better if we don't overwhelm Taipu with a large group trying to find him, she thought.
  13. OOC: Actually, I did get around to PMing Nuju. He Rped as Onepu and shut the door of his hut in my face, so I had Thama talk to him through the door to try and get him to talk to us... except Nuju hasn't responded to my post a page or two back, so yeah...Also, toathekid, we aren't in a bar or anywhere near one so I have no idea where you got a glass.IC Nen:"Onu-Wahi's such a fun place," Nen remarked as they continued down the tunnel. "Lightstones light up enough to make these tunnels reasonably well lit. The exact brightness varies," Nen told Fragarach.
  14. IC Nen:"Oh goodie! Let's go!" Nen said, following Tanuka.OOC: Nen to Onu-Wahi
  15. IC Thama:Thama sighed. It seemed the direct approach was not the best way. She had doubts about Onepu's lack of knowledge."I hope that you can still hear me in that hut of yours," she said, leaning close to the door so only Onepu would hear. "In case you weren't aware, the company members are in very grave danger. Tamaru is dead and Hafu is dead or kidnapped. Macku has been taken into protective concealment by the Ga-Koro marines, and they've taken Kopeke into hiding as well. Me and my friend need to get Taipu to a marine base so he can be concealed. Nobody but us know Kopeke's situation, so the followers of Makuta might go there first, but that leaves Taipu and Kapura left. There isn't much time for us to get him out of danger, but to do that we need to know where he is." She paused to let her words sink in. "Please, let us help. I know toa as of late haven't been the best they could be, but I'm trying to change that. I'm trying to do as much good as I can, but I can't do it alone. Please, help us. Help us protect Taipu and show that there is still decency in the world."
  16. IC Thama:Thama looked around the immediate area to see that no one was spying before continuing. "My companion and I are currently working with a member of the Ga-Koro marines. Our mission involves ensuring the safety of the remaining members of the chronicler's company. Would it be possible to talk inside? It's best to be as careful as we can with this, and keep this conversation private."
  17. IC Thama:"Hello sir," Thama said. "My name is Thama and this is Cyrax. It's important that we speak with Onepu. Are you him?"
  18. IC Thma:After a lot of searching, wrong doors, and finally asking for directions, Thama and Cyrax stood outside of Onepu's hut. Thama knocked on the door. Hopefully he'll be able to help us find Taipu, She thought. And hopefully this is the right door.
  19. IC Nen:"Can you use a weapon? That would be helpful too," Nen added.
  20. IC Nen:"Considering this one didn't know what a slave is, I'd say no, they are not slavers. They seem friendly."
  21. IC Nen:"I completely did not notice you standing there. Many apologies," Nen said, shaking Ussalaius's hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you both. And who is this currently silent person?" he asked, pointing to JL.OOC: Well at the time of that post I had no idea you were there. My bad
  22. IC Nen:Nen blinked. "Onu-Koro is the village of earth. It's underground. Are you new here? You seem new. I'm Nen by the way. Nen Yabayand, toa of earth, nice guy and do-gooder, helper of people who need help by helping them. And who are you two nice and friendly folk?"
  23. OOC: It is perfectly fine if you don't. It's a reference to the old GI Joe cartoon where they would end every episode with an informative message and then say "...And knowing is half the battle." Just me being a nerdy person.IC Nen:"At the moment me and my friends are on a quest to go meet up with some friends in Onu-Koro to help them find someone so we can protect them from some other guys who are evil. Then we're going to meet up with another friend who is currently looking for his other friends and someone else who needs to be protected from the aforementioned evil guys. It's fun."
  24. OOC: Fortunately, these were mean slavers we just fought so Nen doesn't have to worry about being slightly incorrect in labeling an entire group. Besides, the original question was "Why are you beating this person up?" so saying they can be good doesn't necessarily make Nen's actions justified when they were. So yeah.IC NenNen nodded. "So these slavers we just fought were trying to capture us, so we beat them up. And now you know. And knowing takes place after the battle."OOC: G.I. JOOOOOOOEEEEEEE...please excuse my cartoon reference
  25. IC Nen:Nen stopped and turned to face the two newcomers. "Slavery is when one person keeps another person as their property. The slaves are usually forced to perform unpleasant tasks for their owners and are usually punished with violence for disobeying. It is basically keeping a servant with less job satisfaction and no pay."
