  1. smarts and wealth. Superman is an unstoppable juggernaut, which spoils it somewhat. We could all make a difference if we could fly at supersonic speeds and punch through concrete

  2. I don't remember what stories they were, I didn't bother committing their names to memory. Like I said, I didn't enjoy them. Likewise I don't enjoy "a good superman fight" because it's not so much a fight as a workout for the guy. And he doesn't inspire me. Batman Green Arrow and Iron Man are inspiring because they're totally powerless and are relying on their s

  3. even if you keep him out of the light of a yellow sun, the source of his powers. He weakens but he doesn't become powerless

  4. If Wonder Woman/Flash/Martian Manhunter do not see the bullet coming, they can't stop it. They have methods for not getting killed under gunfire, but they have to do it themselves. Supes doesn't even have to think about it, he's invulnerable 24/7. And yes GL might have his forcefield, but he can't do it forever because his ring'll run out of charge. Supes has no such problem, e

  5. It's reading Superman comics that has given me this opinion of me. I am not inclined to reading more. I find him boring. At least Supergirl has a reckless streak (as you'd expect from someone that powered up), Superman is just blah

  6. If he sees someone coming with kryptonite (x-ray vision) he can get away before they can get it out (flight and superspeed). And kryptonite is an alien element from a different galaxy, it's supposed to be rare on Earth (last time I checked). And given that most of the other major DC heroes can be felled by a simple single bullet, which are very very common, its seriously not that big of a weak

  7. And with the name thing, whether he's Kal-El or Clark Kent, the problem is he's still Superman. It won't truly be a crisis of identity until he starts questioning that, and from what I've seen he never does

  8. And no, if you pair him off against someone like Doomsday who is specifically designed to destroy Kryptonians, then he's not overpowered. But that's fighting fire with fire, that's like me godmodding against a guy who godmodded against me

  9. Thing about Superman is that the kryptonite has to be in range for it to work. He can just blow the guy holding it away before he gets too close, or fly into the sky and start raining down laser vision. And if you do manage to get close enough, you've got to -keep- him exposed to it or he'll just jump back up again

  10. And I notice neither of you opposed me saying he was overpowered...

  11. I mean, alright, you can't expect every character to have the depth of Batman, that would just be ridiculous, and way too much effort, but you could at least explore the darker areas of his mind. He only goes bad when mind-controlled, why not have him go bad because he feels terrible?

  12. Whenever I see Superman depicted he's always "oh I must do good, oh I owe these people so much". There's no depth, he's just all shiny altruism. Hence the foil comparison. Flat and shiny

  13. Really? I know once Question tried imitating Rorscach's methods, but didn't find them to his liking so quit, so I assumed he was based off the Watchman character

  14. No botaris, I truth. Superman is overpowered and has all the personality of a sheet of foil. He's fail

  15. No, I'e heard of the Question. He's another powerless detective hero from DC, like Batman but with less angst. The inspiration for him came from Dick Tracy and Rorschach

  16. Will you be telling me next that 'gullible' isn't in the dictionary?

  17. Going with the name change fad, huh?

  18. If I'm right, with this comment you now have five blues and five pinks

  19. Or someone really obscure, like the Elongated Man

  20. He's still got that robot guy as a P-Pic though

  21. That sounded a lot less creepy in my head...
