  1. Definitely quantum physics. It's just fascinating to delve into the most fundamental particles which make up our universe. And also really complex and obtuse, but that's part of the fun.

Shame I wasn't very good at other areas of physics. Might have been nice to take it in university.

  2. Yeah, the whole Faust thing always makes me feel dodgy about loving the album so much. It unfortunately puts a stain on the entire band. He was only with the band for the first album, but when that album is Nightside, he's part of the band's history forever.

Between this and the first Mayhem album, I really wish some of the most significant high points in black metal didn't have such people behind them.

As for Ihshan's solo stuff, Eremita is a really solid starting point.

After or angL probably wouldn't be bad either, but Eremita takes elements from both for a more complete Ihshan experience.

angL does have Unhealer on it though, with Mikael Åkerfeldt on vocals. Hearing them growl back and forth at each other is really neat.

  3. That's really neat, it's been a while since I've seen a cassette. Especially one as great looking as that.

Gave the album a few more listens and it is indeed great. While I don't particularly care for the whole Star Wars thing, can't argue with the music. Getting a bit of an In the Nightside Eclipse Emperor vibe from it, which can only be a compliment.

  4. That's pretty much what I thought too. Hasn't been long since I listened to it, but I already hardly remember it. Basically felt like the last two albums, but without anything to make it stand out from them. It's not bad, but kinda feels pointless when you have the previous two albums.

I'll probably give it another listen before the end of the year, but I'm not expecting a drastic change of opinion.

  5. I can assure you that the cover is perfectly fine, but I guess I see how the lighting might make it seem like it's not...

The Stand Alone Complex series is actually just based on the original films/manga and tells a different story which takes place in a different universe, rather than continuing it.

Still, I would totally recommend watching the movie as it is a good introduction to the characters and themes, and it's a landmark of the cyberpunk genre.

It can definitely be confusing, as it has this big sci-fi world and tends to be very philosophical, perhaps even overly so sometimes, but it's totally worth getting into it.

Although obviously, I'm a bit biased here :P

  6. only available in Asia and import prices are ridiculously high.

Having spent the past week listening almost exclusively to Boris, I feel your pain.

Nice collection though. Reminds me that I should probably check some of those out at some point. Liked The Living Infinite quite a bit, but haven't listened to anything else by them.

If I'm not mistaken Devin Townsend did vocals on a couple of tracks on Natural Born Chaos, so I might start with that.
