  1. Bionicle is a weird series when it comes to games. It is about the only franchise where the free online games are way better than the big-budget video games. But Bionicle Heroes GBA is a personal favorite of mine. That soundtrack is gorgeous. It is probably the only Bionicle game that I would recommend to people outside the fandom.
  2. No, Hapka's writing is not that bad. And niether is Greg's. I would say chronological order, mainly because Adventures was my favorite of the book series, but all of the books have a framing device where they would flash back to "present day" Mata Nui where the Toa and Matoran react to the tales. In the end, I would say release order. There are only five Mata Nui books (including the Mask of Light novelization), so it won't take you long to get through those.
  3. 2001: This is really hard to chose, since I like practically every set this year. I guess Onua. 2002: Bohrok, it doesn't matter which one. 2003: Makuta. I was waiting for this set since the start. 2004: One of the Toa Metru, but it is hard to pick which one. They are still pretty similar, so I guess it does not really matter. 2005: If playsets count, I would say the Tower of the Toa. If they don't, I guess one of the Titans. Maybe Keetongu. 2006: I have always loved how the Kardas Dragon looks, but I am not going to count it since it is a combiner. I would have to settle on Axonn. 2007: Hydraxon. Too bad all the plastic from that year is too brittle to play with a lot. 2008: Takanuva, easily. He is probably my favorite Titan too, and I love the Titans. 2009: I think that the Inika mode went out with a bang this year. I love all of the canister sets for 2009. With that being said, it would still have to be the Thornatus V9. It was an all around good looking and a lot of fun to play with. I just with that its pilot was more memorable. 2010: Tahu captured his original look better than any of the other Stars. EDIT: I forgot about some other sets I really like, specifically Takua and Pewku (which has the best function with the crawling legs), and Krika. But Even with those, I am still happy with my original list.
  4. Granted, but now you have narcolepsy. I wish I was captain of my own spaceship.
  5. I'll probably pick some of the Minecraft sets up. The Micro scaled ones did not do it for me. I just wish that they made a new straight arm piece for these sets.
  6. Well, the episode after that was pretty good. Though that was a dirty trick that they pulled on the audience. I'm disappointed I did not see it coming.
  7. I know enough of it that I can usually make out what is trying to be said without looking it up. The only problems that I usually have is with letters that are not used as much.
  8. Onepu. I was already into Bionicle at that point since I was going into it already liking Lego and Throwbots. My parents knew this, so I was getting the Toa for Christmas. But McDonald's had the Mctoran promotion before then, so I collected all of them. Onepu is probably why I changed my favorite color to purple soon after.
  9. I'd probably pick up a few more Brain Attack sets since I love their heads (and capes). Waspix was a really good set. I feel like that set is Bitil done right. But first I need to get Breakout Furno, which is the only set I am missing from my collection. But it is hard to find for a reasonable price.
  10. I love all the years of Bionicle, but some of them are more loved than others. I guess '04 is my favorite. We finally got to see that there was a larger world to explore outside of Mata Nui. As much as I loved the Mata Nui years, they were really repetitive. I could give the same accurate summary of all four Mata Nui storylines with just the names ad lib-ed out. '04 finally did something different with the story, which is luckily a trend that lasted for the entire rest of the run. The Turaga finally got some character development, and I loved the city setting. The movie for that year was also my favorite Bionicle movie. Second place would have to go to '06. I have always loved the Matoran characters. Even if they were now Toa, it was great spending time with them. I loved that the rest of the MU was being explored. I also liked that the Dark Hunters were seriously expanded upon and that the Order Of Mata Nui was introduced. As much as people say that 2006 was way too dark, it was barely any darker than 2005. I also liked VNOG and the GBA version of Bionicle Heroes.
  11. I really did not like the movies from 2005 and 2009, but all of the non-movie media was good for those years, so I still enjoy them. I guess the year I liked least is 2010. The story felt rushed, and trying to fit the toyline into it was just akward. At least it was a conclusion though. Lego used to have a problem (and judging by Hero Factory, still do) of cancelling their story themes without bothering writing an ending. I think if it had been better paced, then I would have liked it a lot more. As far as just the sets go, I'd say 2007. The sets themselves were not badly designed, but the quality of the plastic that year is just disgusting. I can barely play with any of those sets without some brittle piece breaking into several sharp splinters. I mean, I have a complete set collection, and sets from every year have had a piece break every now and again, but the 2007 ones are the only pieces to actually shatter and splinter.
  12. I got caught up to right before when RID/MTMTE starts, since I am reading them from the IDW Collection volumes. Those volumes are really nice, and I do recommend picking them up. I also started reading the new stuff monthly since Dawn of the Autobots. I pretty much loved all of it, except for All Hail Megatron, which is one of the worst stories I have ever read.
  13. If it is done right, I would love to see a TV show. A TV show could let Bionicle retain most of its complexity while not alienating people, since it is much easier and cheaper to keep up with a TV series than it is with a book series. In fact, the only thing that I am actually disappointed in for the reboot is that Bionicle did not get a TV series. I think, unlike some other people on this thread, that Bionicle could still work with some humor. I don't mean turning Bionicle into a comedy. Shows like Avatar manage to have plenty of humor while maintaining a serious tone. It just needs to be well written and not be misplaced. If they can manage to make the humor feel natural, I don't think there is any reason to not include it.
  14. Well, there was going to be a year spent in the Valley of the Maze, and I would bet there would be at least one or two years on Bota Magna, and a year or half a year for the conclusion. So I think it would have ended anyway around 2012 or 2013. I really want to see what the story would have been if it wasn't cut short, and hopefully one day that will be explored. On top of that, we would have gotten several more movies (The Legend Reborn was announced as the first in a set of Bionicle Movies). But judging from the quality of TLR and the HF stuff that followed, those movies probably would not be much good anyway. I am more interested in what the story could have been then what the sets would be (but the Elemental Lords and robot dinosaurs do sound like they would be really interesting sets). Luckily, exploring that would be far easier and cheaper then ever seeing what the sets would be like. Maybe as some of the new fans of the reboot get interested in the older stuff there will be some more demand from it. About Lego cancelling Bionicle not being a mistake, I agree that at the time it wasn't. But with hindsight being 20/20, Hero Factory never sold as well as Bionicle did on its worst day. I feel like if they did continue Bionicle for just a few more years, they could have gotten a little bit more money out of it. But what I don't think is a mistake even now, is that there did need to be a good bit of time between the end of the original run of Bionicle and a reboot. The original story did need to end sometime and be refreshed so that the fan base could grow again.
  15. The books are about the same size and font as a Goosebumps book. They average around 120 pages, and the font is fairly big. I am no speed-reader, and I can get through one of them in an hour or two.
  16. You should read all of them. There are two different ways that I recommend reading them in: by publishing order(Chronicles, Adventures, Legends, and then Raid on Atero), or in rough chronological order (Adventures, Chronicles, Legends, and then ROA). I would lean more to the second option myself, since Adventures probably had the most stuff that wasn't covered elsewhere, but all of those books have a framing device of the Turaga telling the stories right after the Chronicles series, so you may want to read those first.
  17. Can the old heads (metru especially) fit on the new bodies, then? The new heads seem to have a different connection to the old. it's the same connection like the glatorian head, just a ball socket, so you'll need a connector like a metru limb or something. A better option if you want to put old masks on a new body is to get a few Hero Factory Brain Attack sets. Those head can fit both Metru-style masks and Glatorian helmets. I don't know what to do if you want to put a Mata-style mask on a new body.
  18. I hope that they go into the origins of these characters. They kind of did it with Zeb already, but I hope that they return to it again with much more detail.
  19. I don't really like the tertiary metallic colors on any of the toa, but I think the rest of the set looks pretty good. Onepu was my first set, and ever since then I have loved purple as a secondary earth color.
  20. Yeah, in the first episode it took Ezra slightly too long to come around, but he seems like a character that will become a lot better very quickly.
  21. So, what does everyone think of Star Wars Rebels?
  22. I really loved all of his Bionicle books. I do think that the serials had its share of rough edges, but I do not think that those were Greg's fault. The bad parts of those were because of the story team enforcing a silly rule about having to end each chapter on a cliffhanger. I do not believe he is the greatest author who ever lived, but I will read a book just because he has written it. Also, since it seems that a lot of people have not read them, Greg's books from the other themes are pretty good.
  23. A long time ago, back when the forums got upgraded, I started a Star Wars topic. It went pretty strong for a long time, but when The Clone Wars ended, the topic sort of died out. But now with Star Wars Rebels having been released, I feel like it is a good time to restart the topic. This is a topic to discuss anything and everything Star Wars. From the movies to the television shows, from the Expanded Universe to the new canon, from the comics to the video games, feel free to share your thoughts and opinions on all of it. So, to get the discussion rolling, what do you think of Star Wars Rebels? I really like it so far, and I hope to see some more cameos from characters from The Clone Wars.
  24. I have been pretty optimistic and happy about the reboot so far, but there are two things I really don't like about this update. The first is the mask powers. If the Toa have natural control over their elements, then the mask is redundant (and yes, I realize that Gen 1 Takanuva and Makuta share this problem, but it bothered me back then too). If the Toa do not have natural elemental powers, then that makes them less special since anyone who can wear the masks can do anything they can do. The second thing is that one of Onua's main traits is described as sleepy. He is beginning to sound more and more like the bears from Chima, which are one-note, unfunny, boring, terrible characters even for Chima's standards (not that I hate Chima or anything, I just don't think it is up to par with Gen 1 Bionicle or Ninjago).
  25. Has any story information been revealed on the Protectors? Are they actually individual characters or are there supposed to be dozens of each type running around?
