    Better

Yesterday I vomited again after I tried to eat dinner. But I was improving - at the beginning of the day, walking was next to impossible, but I could practically run at the end of the day. Then I threw up. We moved my bed into the living room so I'd be closer to a bathroom/sink. This morning, however, I woke up almost 100% better. No fever, no aching muscles, almost no headache, and I've kept down my cheese-stick-and-toast breakfast for about 45 minutes. Unfortunately, my mom still isn't letting me go to school today, and banned the amount of physical activity that would let me bike to Queen's house. Fortunately, she said that if I could get a ride, I could still go when she got home from school. My grandmother is still probably going to take me to the doctor's this morning, but I should come up mostly clean. Until next time...

    Uuuuugh

I hate missing school. This morning at around 1 a.m., I vomited. Then I vomited again at 4 a.m. I've had diarrhea and a headache for two days. My mother and grandmother convinced me to stay home. I e-mailed all of my teachers and my mom called the attendance line to let the school know I wasn't going to be there. If I'm not better by tomorrow, I don't know what I'll do. I really do hate missing school. Plus, tomorrow (since it's an early release day), I was going to test-drive the route between my house and Queen's, which should take about an hour on bike. I'm going back to bed now...
  4. It fits in with the extendable neck; you're not likely to see a bird or mammal with a neck twice the size of their body (giraffes excused, but their necks aren't extendable anyway).
  5. What tortures YOU in the night, Javi?
  6. Note: Queen's screen name was replaced with her alias, but mine is indeed Abstract Reader. Queen is idle (9:22:48 AM) Abstract Reader (9:22:48 AM): Good morning. Queen is available (9:30:11 AM) Queen (9:30:18 AM): morning Queen (9:30:25 AM): i'm watching Batman Queen (9:30:28 AM): and doing math Queen (9:30:29 AM): rofl Abstract Reader (9:30:58 AM): I'm contemplating the usefulness of an extendable neck as a natural tool. Abstract Reader (9:31:05 AM): And waiting for my mom to get ready. Queen (9:31:08 AM): xD Abstract Reader (9:31:22 AM): Really, think about it. Queen (9:31:32 AM): it'd be odd Abstract Reader (9:31:38 AM): Is an extendable neck really a feasible natural tool? Queen (9:31:43 AM): no. Abstract Reader (9:31:52 AM): Why not? Abstract Reader (9:31:57 AM): Just give me your ideas. Queen (9:32:10 AM): because Queen (9:32:13 AM): of Queen (9:32:16 AM): like swallowing Abstract Reader (9:32:27 AM): Hm. Abstract Reader (9:32:35 AM): I never thought of that. Abstract Reader (9:33:17 AM): But let's say, for the sake of the discussion, that a creature would only use the neck to extend the range of their teeth. Abstract Reader (9:33:30 AM): Swallowing would come later, once the prey was dead. Queen (9:33:35 AM): like a giraffe Abstract Reader (9:33:42 AM): ? Queen (9:33:47 AM): they have long necks Queen (9:33:53 AM): so they can eat stuff high in the air Abstract Reader (9:34:19 AM): The creature I'm thinking of would be a reptilian carnivore. Queen (9:34:40 AM): ahhh Queen (9:34:45 AM): potentially Abstract Reader (9:35:03 AM): My question is this: Abstract Reader (9:35:13 AM): What's more efficient, extending your neck to bite prey, or leaping over to it and bringing your teeth and claws to bear? Queen (9:35:25 AM): leaping over it Abstract Reader (9:35:55 AM): Well, on one hand, the neck option could increase your stealth. Abstract Reader (9:36:45 AM): Let's say the animal was the type to hide in wait. Queen (9:37:02 AM): then yes an extendable neck Abstract Reader (9:37:02 AM): How far wpi;d the neck have to extend to be useful? Abstract Reader (9:37:09 AM): *would Queen (9:37:12 AM): like Queen (9:37:16 AM): though snakes in a can Queen (9:37:25 AM): compressed into like a neck frill Abstract Reader (9:37:43 AM): There's an idea. Abstract Reader (9:39:21 AM): That's sort of what I'm thinking of. Abstract Reader (9:39:41 AM): How far could said snakes extend their compressed necks? Abstract Reader (9:39:50 AM): Half of their original body length? Abstract Reader (9:39:52 AM): Less? Abstract Reader (9:39:54 AM): More? Queen (9:41:17 AM): around Queen (9:41:19 AM): that Abstract Reader (9:41:26 AM): Half? Queen (9:41:32 AM): ya Abstract Reader (9:41:56 AM): That falls in line with what I've got over here. Abstract Reader (9:42:46 AM): The faster the creature could extend its neck, the more effective it would be. Abstract Reader (9:43:08 AM): Well, thanks for your input. Queen (9:43:22 AM): you're welcome Abstract Reader (9:43:24 AM): My mom should be ready any minute now, so I have to get off. Abstract Reader (9:43:28 AM): Bye. Queen (9:43:39 AM): bye
  7. I woke up at 6 again this morning. I showered, pulled out my Bionicle parts, and in two hours had a prototype bandersnatch. For those who don't know, a bandersnatch is a quick-moving reptile with and extendable neck. I built it for a contest that ends tomorrow (blog search for bandersnatch, there's only one blog with the word in the title). My problem this morning is how long the critter's neck should be when extended. Is an extendable neck really a feasible natural tool? Think about it. What's more efficient, extending your neck to bite prey, or leaping over to it and bringing your teeth and claws to bear? On one hand, the neck option could possibly increase your stealth, but the pounce option could be a faster kill due to increased weaponry. These are the questions that torture me in the night.

    G. I. Joe & Queen

I usually get the bacon turkey bravo when we go for lunch, but I think I'll try the bread bowl on your recommendation next time. The movie was pretty good. Not the best, but pretty good. Actually, she's the reason I asked if we could chat later not too long ago. We were on AIM. Ah, the good old days... Not that I ever did that. It didn't look like the best movie, so I doubt I'd have been extremely disappointed. OK, gotcha. I was wondering - you rarely turn down a chat unless your parents are around. xP Of course you didn't, my 15-on-50 friend. 15-on-50?

  10. The movie was good. I liked the flashbacks of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow's history, and did not see the plot twist revealing the freaky scientist to be Rex coming. Meeting Queen again was fun. We don't have too much in common anymore, save that we're both smart. After the movie, we all relocated to Barnes & Noble, then to Panera Bread for lunch (I love Panera). That's all for now.

    Productivity

I awoke at 6:00 a.m. this morning and felt very productive. I cleaned my room for an hour. Nobody else is up yet. In other news, we're going to see the local 10:20 showing of G.I. Joe (it's cheaper to go before noon) with Queen. Finally, I get to meet them face-to-face. Last night was spent watching the TV premier of the Wizards of Waverly Place movie. My sister is addicted to television, and we were all watching it, so I went ahead and sat through it. If nothing else, the special effects were cool.
  12. Fixed. That's one point for a spelling error, doubled because it was in an e-mail entry.
  13. Some of you may remember that when school was in session, I would occasionally make an entry from my Digital Design class when I finished early. Well, for the first time this year, I am once again the first person done with the day's assignment, and decided to make an entry because I didn't yesterday. That's all. (I didn't say I would say anything important in the entry, did I?)

    What Is This

We had something very similar to this. You can see the hole the floss comes through from the handle and the small blade used to cut off old floss.
  15. It's epic. Also, did you know that if you tack '&hl=[insert word here]' onto the end of the URL of one of BZP's topics, it will highlight the given word? Try it out next time you browse a topic. Just type '&hl=[word goes here]' onto the end of the URL in your address bar and hit enter. For example, if you clicked the above link, you were sent to this address: http://www.bzpower.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=302010 If you type '&hl=forty' onto the end, like so... http://www.bzpower.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=302010&hl=forty ...all instances of 'forty' in the topic will be highlighted. It's pretty cool.

    Mornin'

Gratuitous morning entry. Yawn. I really prefer eight hours of sleep to seven.

    What Is This

Actually, you can buy reusable ones. The handle is solid and stores the floss. After each use, you throw away the used floss and spin out a new strand, which you then secure across the prongs. They're pretty handy.
  18. So, I'm home from my first day of school. It wasn't too bad, as first days go. My only real disappointments came in English class. Remember when I said that my English teacher seemed to be the best of my teachers? I was wrong. She's freaking nuts. Okay, I'm being a little harsh. She's just not quite what I expected from open house. I suspect that part of it is also my classmates, who, as with my English class from last year, are less than wonderful. The other disappointment in English is that I couldn't turn in my summer assignment for the class. This is because I did not know we were required to annotate the book itself, which I plan to remedy by the end of the week. Overall, I think my favorite class and teacher this year will be Analysis of Functions (Pre-Calculus). I know my teacher from math tutoring last year and like her, and I lake (and am reasonably good at) math. In other news, I've decided that the alias for my recently returned friend will be Queen. You can find her in the content block for aliases.
  19. You're gonna love Alinos. The Cretaphid isn't very hard until you get to the fourth version of it - the one that follows you around the room like a possessed guard-tower laser-firing...thing...with eyes.
  20. I'm taking a short break right now from finishing my summer assignments. I've been working all day. I should finish in time if I don't slack off.

    Interesting

I had a friend in elementary school. She moved away when we were in fourth grade. It's been five years. Yesterday, her mother visited mine. After living in Oregon, California, and Nebraska, they've finally returned to Florida. Hopefully we'll meet soon; I was at my dad's house during the visit and learned about it this morning.
  22. You could get a member elsewhere to buy them, then ship them to you in the UK.
  23. It's awesome. Hurrah for elemental powers! The duel between Kiina and Ackcar, with the wall of steam moving between them, was really cool, but I like how they portrayed Gresh's air powers too.
