Somebody Told Me - The Killers -
Even then, Seven to Eight had the Doctor being already properly dead before regenerating. Regeneration also works against death rays (see: Handy's creation), so the Doctor almost surely chose not to regenerate. Remember, he had a Heroic BSOD in Runaway Bride - he wouldn't have tried to escape without Donna to snap him out of it. That's the episode's premise.

Single-target? Whaaat? I don't have any idea what you mean by 'overdoing' either. It's more just mentioning and presenting as okay, because it is, and most people in the UK are fine with it, except for the few who are a tad backwards with it all.Single-target is totally a legitimate sexuality, when you're only attracted to one person.I should know.Listen, there's a fine line between "it's socially acceptable" and "overdoing it because it's trendy now".My best friend, who is bisexual, finds this trend annoying as well. I think the decimate thing was more just a joke about how people misuse it.The Master is still violently crazy. "You're insane!" *thumbs up*, etc. I'd not really say any of their key features is 'death-seeking'. Except Jack, because the whole point is he can't die so that's fair enough.* Nine isn't happy about surviving the time war* Ten lets himself die in Turn Left (drowning is not a fast death, he would have had time to regenerate)* Moriarty rants about how he soon will have no reason to live (Staying alive. So boring, isn't it?)* Moriarty and the Master both kill themselves in order to "triumph" over the heroand so on

Haven't they always been like that? Doctor Who has the odd tendency to rip-off other Sci-Fi shows before the ripped-off shows even existed.New series Cybermen are a lot more malevolent and self-centered than old series Cybermen."You will be upgraded. Upgrading is compulsory." vs. "You will be like us. We will remove all distinction of class, gender, and race."Also, from "The Pandorica Opens": "You will be assimilated". Especially infuriating because it was supposed to be a Mondas Cyberman.Essentially, the new Cybermen are based on the Borg, which are based on the old Cybermen. Something got lost in translation. The Borg's original introduction as a nigh-unstoppable, completely decentralized force has been warped over time. The Borg Queen is one of the most obvious examples of this trend. Additionally, in Q Who and The Best of Both Worlds, the Borg couldn't comprehend the idea of a single "drone" being important at all. In "Best of Both Worlds", the Locutus of Borg said "you will service us", implying that the Borg see "drones"/humanoid life as little more than support systems for the real important part - the ships.

* It is illegal to bring monsters into the city limits of Urbana, Illinois (Birthplace of the HAL 9000)* The beat in the Doctor Who theme song is the same as the Sound of Drums that the Master hears* There are three countries completely surrounded by another. Two of them are in Italy.* At the time that Jurassic Park was written, Deinonychus antirrhopus, the dinosaur most famous for being the dinosaur the Jurassic Park "Velociraptors" should have been referred to as, was considered a species of Velociraptor by some scientists.* Alexander The Great's life was once saved by an officer in his army named Cleitus the Black. This makes him the most significant historical figure to bear a name pronounced as "Cletus".* Dolphins are the only kind of animal other than humans believed to hunt other animals for sport.* The correct word for fear of long words is "sesquipedalophobia", not the commonly-believed "hippomonstrosesquipedalophobia".* David Tennant (The 10th Doctor's actor) married Georgia Moffett, the daughter of Peter Davison (the 5th Doctor's actor). Georgia Moffett played the 10th Doctor's clone/daughter in the episode "The Doctor's daughter". She has a daughter with David Tennant.* The USS William D. Porter's entire crew was arrested for almost accidentally assassinating President Roosevelt.* Eucalyptus trees are explosive.

The show is completely absurd....I've seen all of TOS, TNG, DS9, most of Voyager, some of Enterprise, and all 11 movies. And know how to curse in Klingon. They were great once, for Best of Both Worlds. Then I, Borg made them have too much personality, and then the Borg Queen ruined them further and their assimilation went from a special, time-consuming procedure to something they can do in minutes and then Species 8472 destroyed them and then they became bad villains. Also, 8472 managed to be ruined even faster than the Borg. And now the Cybermen have morphed into Borg expies.I'm personally a DS9 fan. Second favorite is TNG.

REM is "rapid eye movement". It's a phase of sleep. The band says they chose it because it sounds cool and claim that, in their case, it stands for "rapid ear movement".^Also, I know the words to that song."The other night I tripped a nice continental drift divide, Mount Saint Edelaide, Leonard Bernstein, Leonid Brezhnev, Lenny Bruce, and Lester Bangs, birthday party, cheesecake, jellybeans, BOOM!"...That line is based on a dream.

I really like that second idea.I'd say that if he saw himself, it would have to be one of his evil incarnations (The Valeyard or Time Lord Victorious) My problem with Sherlock is that there seem to be a few trendy things nowadays, which are annoyingly common in both Doctor Who and Sherlock:* Violently crazy Evil Counterparts (Moriarty, The Master) ("...I will find you and I will skin you", "Ooh, decimate! That's a nice word!")* Death-seekers (Moriarty, Ten, Cap'n Jack, etc.)* Hero is mean (EDIT: Huh, censor is stronger than I expected)* Overdoing non-standard sexualities (Bisexual and Single-Target especially)* Self Loathing ("No, give me someone I like!")So pretending it's Doctor Who is exactly my problem with it.

* Black and Gold. This pleases me.* I'm not sure about the lower legs, they're kind of aesthetically clashing.* Torso design looks interesting. Much better combination of Bionicle/HF pieces than the legs.* Nice hat.
-
Well, Stormer's build is huge improvement IMO. The legs are constructed similar to the Superheroes ones, except this new little joint on his knee. That makes him a little bit silly in my opinion. It'd have been better if TLC made him a standard hero with a bike. The knee design is the entire problem. It doesn't use the hinge design that knees usually use, instead opting for the normal ball-and-socket connection, which gives it far too much flexibility and makes it look awkward.

Well, Martha didn't get horribly traumatized... she left because she didn't want to deal with unrequited love and joined UNIT.So she didn't get a normal life, but she got better than Rose or Donna.I'm going to assume for now that Amy and Rory leaving has something to do with the Weeping Angels.Anyhow, I've got a bad feeling about Series 7. "I Am The Doctor" is playing in the background still (I am sick of that music), and it looks like it's going to be more of the same. Weird, crazy planets, shenanigans with history, Steven Moffat hates the Daleks...(Seriously, there's like three good Dalek episodes in the new series: "Dalek", "Doomsday", and "The Stolen Earth/Parting of the Ways", also, I hate River Song because she's so Canon Sueish as to scare a Dalek. Daleks do not beg for mercy.)Also, Rory and Amy couldn't leave safely because Moffat is evil and likes toying with your emotions. Also, yes, I prefer RTD to Moffat, why do you ask? (NuWho Doctor Ranking: 10>9>11, haven't seen enough of classic Who to judge much, but I liked 4 and 5 the most)Also, Season 6 judgement:Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon - The Silence are among my favorite villains, River Song is annoyingly skilledCurse of the Black Spot - I totally don't remember this episode much. Ironically enough. The Doctor's Wife - I didn't consider it to be awesome, oddly enough. The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People - Also unmemorable.A Good Man Goes To War - Good, a bit over the top, saw the plot twist a mile away.Let's Kill Hitler - Crazy Awesome if nothing else.Night Terrors - Least creepy horror episode of Doctor Who.The Girl Who Waited - Also unmemorable. The God Complex - Easily the strongest 1-part episode of the season.Closing Time - I hate this episode so much. Its treatment of homosexuality seems trendy more than progressive, and it's the same gosh-darned plot as Craig's last appearance. Furthermore, the Mondasians still look the same as the Cybusmen. The Wedding of River Song - I was pleasantly surprised that the Question was not "will you marry me?" or something like that. Also, this episode is almost worse than Closing Time. I still hate River, and this episode contradicts prior continuity to a horrible degree(see: The Waters of Mars) regarding fixed points and... no, just no.The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe: I do not like this episode, not one bit. "Humany-wumany"? No. Also, sexism. Best part was the reference to "Caves of Androzani".

Really, the only positive thing I'm seeing about Stormer is that his new design is sort of "retro" - it seems more similar to the 1.0s aesthetically than any of the other Heroes. The legs are still awful. They go too far in the opposite direction from the Fire Lord build, the knee can now bend too much, instead of the ankles not bending enough. Also, his ankle seems too high.

-Varied bone colors:--My idea for the bone color of each hero:Stormer-Bright BlueStringer-OrangeBulk-BlackFurno-KeetorangeBreez-Bright RedSurge-SilverNex-WhiteEvo-Dark GreyRocka-Light GreyGood idea having varied bone colors. But I tried that in Ldd and some work but other Clash horriblyThese should be the bone and torso colors for the following heroesFurno, Breez, and Bulk. Black bones and torsoStringer, Evo, And Stormer. Dark grey bones and torsoNex, Rocka, and Surge. Light grey bones and torsoThese colors work for the heroes. But there's so much freaking grey and black...Besides, at least for Surge, Furno, Stringer, and Stormer, my suggested frame colors were their original frame colors.

Okay, since the original issue was whether or not more melee weapons are a good idea, let's review the Heroes who have melee weapons:Breez 2.0Stormer 3.0Stringer 3.0Bulk 3.0Nex 3.0Rocka 3.0Stormer 4.0Breez 4.0Nex 4.0(Total: 9/23)Additionally, the following have weapons which may or may not be melee weapons:Stormer 1.0Furno 1.0Surge 1.0Stormer 2.0Furno 2.0Nex 2.0Evo 2.0Surge 4.0(8/23)To sum up, a third of the heroes definitely have melee weapons, and another third have tools that are up to interpretation. As such, I believe that there are more than enough melee weapons in the sets, but the show needs to reduce the frequency of making everything lasers. In real combat, a long-range weapon is generally preferable to a close-range weapon.

Elements That Just Didn't Work
Kojol replied to Elrond of Rivendell's topic in Bionicle Storyline & Theories
Scientific realism is very obviously not the focus (see: Mata Nui robot). It's softer sci-fi than Doctor Who. As such, claiming that something shouldn't work the way it does in-story because of scientific fact is just an exercise in futility. No, plasma is only a gas too (common misconception); though since it's superheated it can melt stone easily. The difference is simply that fire runs on a chemical reaction like real fire, whereas plasma is simply superheated (a lot hotter than fire, so more dangerous but more effective in some situations) gas.Plasma is a state of matter - ionized gas - which fire is one form of. It's like having a Toa of Liquids and a Toa of Water. And yes, I recognize the [removed]. It's just that I can't really see how the two elements are used differently. -
Most of the things that were melee weapons in the sets are treated as melee weapons in the show, with the exception of Stringer's "plasma gun" in Savage Planet. In fact, in Savage Planet they inexplicably downgraded Furno's Plasma Bow (a projectile weapon) to a melee weapon.Granted, there are Breez's boomerangs, which were supposed to be throwing weapons and were converted to blasters of a sort in the show, but those are the only instance I can think of where something that wasn't technically a blaster to begin with got treated as one.In "Ordeal of Fire" Drilldozer is pointing his gun at two of the heroes and then switches to his sword to shoot them. There's also every single weapon in Savage Planet. My issue is, most sets have melee weapons, but in story, they all have laser blasters.I'm personally a proponent of ranged weapons, but when they do this by giving everything lasers, it's annoying.Ideally, I would give 3-4 Heroes ranged weapons, the rest melee weapons or ambiguous weapons (e.g., Surge and Furno's original weapons)I wouldn't say most sets have melee weapons. Almost all of the heroes and villains in 2010 had projectile weapons, with a few exceptions like Breez (whose weapon admittedly was treated as a projectile weapon in the show), XPlode, Meltdown, and Thunder (whose claw wasn't treated as a projectile weapon, but they mounted a projectile weapon on top of it which I guess is about the same effect). In early 2011, again, most of the Heroes had projectile weapons besides Breez. Drilldozer and Jetbug had melee weapons, and they were treated as melee weapons in the show with the exception of Drilldozer's blade inexplicably being treated as a projectile weapon, which as I said above somehow went right over my head.In summer 2011, the Heroes tended to have claws and such, but made almost no use of them, so I guess your criticism applies there. However, the only weapons to be treated as projectile weapons were Stringer's "plasma gun" (I hate that so much; they could so easily have given him a "sonic roar" to tie in with his sonic theme AND his bear powers) and Witch Doctor's staff, which is closer to a magic wand than a staff you'd actually use in melee combat to begin with. Also ironically, neither Witch Doctor nor Rocka XL used the launchers that they had been given in the sets.Haven't seen the Breakout episodes yet, but it should be noted that Surge does in fact use his lightning shooter as a sword.Overall, I don't think there's any over-the-top tendency in the TV episodes to treat melee weapons as projectile weapons, at least not any more than there was in BIONICLE (where most weapons could channel elemental powers, and as such had an in-story explanation for their dual nature as melee weapons and projectile weapons).Sets whose primary weapon is close-rangePreston StormerWilliam Furno ?Mark Surge (depending on the range of the lightning)Von NebulaX-Plode (+Thornax launcher)Thunder (+Thornax launcher)Meltdown (+Thornax launcher)Drilldozer (+Thornax Launcher)Nitroblast (depending on range of flamethrower) (+Thornax Launcher)Jetbug (+Thornax Launcher)Stormer 2.0Furno 2.0 ?Breez 2.0Evo 2.0 ?Nex 2.0?Every Savage Planet set except for Furno 3.0Breez (+ Thornax Launcher)Surge (+Thornax Launcher)ThornraxxJawbladeBlack Phantom (+Thornax Launcher)Voltix (+Thornax Launcher)Speeda DemonXT4Stormer (+Thornax Launcher)Nex (+Thornax Launcher)

This, and more purple. And gunmetal.I'd say that we need, if anything, less gunmetal. In Breakout, Rocka, Evo, Bulk, Voltix, and Splitface all have it as a major part of their color schemes. It's becoming almost as prevalent as pearl grey was in 2006-2008.Well then more silver. There's enough silver already, though not yet too much, as has happened with gunmetal. With Rocka, there's also enough gold. Now, metallic blue, if it still existed...

Elements That Just Didn't Work
Kojol replied to Elrond of Rivendell's topic in Bionicle Storyline & Theories
Well, sand and rock are Bara Magna-exclusive, Earth and Stone are MU-exclusive, so calling Stone and Rock the same is pointless.Sand and Rock may be the same thing on a microscopic level, but the way that they're controlled is very different. Science is irrelevant, BIONICLE is and always has been fantasy more than sci-fi.Earth and Stone are very different. Earth controls dirt, Stone controls rock. Similarly, water and ice may be the same thing from a scientific perspective, but Toa of Ice control only solid water, and toa of Water only liquid water. The reason for there being an artificial distinction between the elements is because, in story, the Great Beings made artificial distinctions between them. The only one I don't understand is Fire/Plasma: What, exactly, is the distinction? Anybody can use a Suletu or Garai, even if there are no Ce-Toa or Ba-Toa around, both of which are fairly rare. The lack of Element Lords is explained as the Element Lords being elementally-powered lords of the six Bara Magna tribes. There's not an Air Element Lord because there's no Air tribe to lord over.
