  1. Classy and original. Five stars for the proposal. I just hope that his love of Lego doesn't get in the way of his love for his wife!-don't touch my pocket protector
  2. I guess this makes up for Lego not releasing a real Two-Face figure in the superheroes line. However, it probably wouldn't have come out as nice as this set did, so I'm happy they didn't. I'm also really glad that the two sides of the face are different pieces. Having a clunky pre-molded head would be annoying for MOCers. EDIT: On another note, are you sure that you could make a full red head or black head if you bought two sets? Wouldn't you have to put one side upside-down or something? I don't own the set, so I wouldn't know.-don't touch my pocket protector
  3. I sent in a question and I hope other BZP members do as well. This is a huge positive for the community, and I hope that you open up future Powercasts to member questions.-don't touch my pocket protector
  4. I see some more positive changes with the front page.1) More spotlights on member projects.2) An open invitation to ask questions on the Powercast. It's this kind of stuff that will keep BZPower up and running. Good job staff, and keep it up!As for political discussion, I would enjoy it and post very frequently in that forum. I know I could handle myself well without getting into a flame-war and I also know that there are many members out there like myself. However...I do see the reason for not allowing it. There could be a few members out there who have really tied themselves emotionally to a politcal idea and would just erupt the whole subforum into flames when that idea is brought into question. Having said that, I would be for it, though I think the staff should focus their time on much more pressing issues right now.-don't touch my pocket protector
  5. The ideas of betrayal and sacrifice play out in a fantastical otherworldly setting. That could summarize both. However, it could also apply to Star Wars or a dozen other sci-fi/fantasy films or books. I agree with what Sumiki said, there are some common plot devices between them, but they are far from being similar.-don't touch my pocket protector
  6. Makuta would certainly want something that could increase his power, and the Nui Stone would have done that. Unfortunately (for him), he didn't get it, but it didn't really matter in the end.As for the Ignika, Makuta did not want Mata-Nui to die because he wanted to take control of the body. If Mata-Nui died, the entire MU would collapse. However, he didn't want to reveal his plot otherwise the Toa Inika would try to stop him, so he let them believe that he wanted Mata-Nui dead.-don't touch my pocket protector

  8. Man, this would make a great desktop wallpaper. I actually really like the fact that he's off to the side. For one thing it gives the sense that he's in motion. For another, his position fits perfectly with the icons on my desktop . 10/10.-don't touch my pocket protector
  9. They might scavenge the body for parts. Since matoran are mostly mechanicle I reckon that their parts could be re-used. I'm sure they would set the mask aside, however, as it has a special sigificance.-don't touch my pocket protector
  10. Nobody thinks that what they're doing is evil. In his heart, Teridax thought that what he was doing was good. He thought that he would be a better leader of the matoran than Mata-Nui. Jealousy was also a part of it. He thought that it was unfair that Mata-Nui got all the credit for many things that he did, and wanted a piece of the pie, so to speak. But did he think he was evil? No. Nobody thinks that they are evil. Even unquestionably evil men such as Adolf Hitler and Osama Bin Laden thought that they were doing good.-don't touch my pocket protector
  11. @DeeVee: Do you have a link of some old politcal topic that got out of hand? I'm just curious. I do not think the front page should be de-bionicleized at all. Bionicle is inherant in BZPower's identity. It should be updated to better relfect the community, but I think it should retain it's unique tie to Bionicle. Perhaps some notes about it being about contraction sets as well, but BZPower should always be Bionicle at its core. -don't touch my pocket protector
  12. Probably the Toa Nuva. I feel like the Piraka loss was soley because it was not their destiny to recover the mask of life. Also, they were over-confidant of their powers (much as Teridax was before his eventual fall). The Inika/Mahri come in a close second, though. Jaller did a good job managing his team because he looked to leaders before him (Tahu and Vakama) and learned from their mistakes. The Hagah were elite toa, so I'm sure they were pretty good, however, we don't know enough about them to really make a judgement. I would put the Metru at dead last. By the time they figured out how to be toa properly, their adventures were over.-don't touch my pocket protector
  13. The problem with opening the door to scientific debate is that you let in the evolution vs creationism deal, which has created more than a few spittle-filled shouting matches over the years. In other news, I think some of our suggestions are getting heard. Up on the front page I see the acient Glatorian link gone, replaced with an amazon search for Hero Factory sets. Also, Alyska's CUUSOO project dealing with a constraction line for girls is front page news. Here's hoping that more member-based news will come.-don't touch my pocket protector
  14. If BZPower ever becomes a place that I would not want to send my kid to, then I will leave. Plain and simple. However, I do think that several modifications can be made to the rules that would not necessarily change the kid-friendly nature of BZPower. Certain words should be unblocked, for instance, and the inability to link to (or even reference) certain sites is very frustrating and doesn't really further BZPower's goal of being kid-friendly.-don't touch my pocket protector
  15. Yes, they travel through space, but to date, no sets have been made with heros in space. Of course they would be tied to some space station or space ship, but I could totally see zero-g battles happening. Nope.Sci-fi is a very strange theme. It can overlap with basically all others, and seems to be a dumping place for things that involve technology regardless of the ratio of sci to fi. "Science fiction is what I point at and say, that is science fiction." Space is common in that genre, but not an inherent feature.BIONICLE was a sci-fi all the time, and it became even more so in the end. I don't think Sumiki's "inevitable" is the best word, but there's a good chance they might do space. To me sci-fi is space travel and exploration. I've read many sci-fi books, and I gravitate towards the ones with space-faring. However, you are rigth the sci-fi doesn't need to be in space, although I would disagree that Bionicle was ever sci-fi. Bionicle was mainly fantasy. Science fiction, by definition, requires a basis in technology that attempts to be explained, while fantasy relies on "magic". All sci-fi is fantasy to a certain extent, but not all fantasy is sci-fi. Bionicle is mainly fantasy, with some accents of sci-fi in places like Metru-Nui. While there is "technology" in Metru-Nui, most of that technology is based on disk, which are essentially magic.-don't touch my pocket protector
  16. Member creations should definately be put on the front page. This would encourage members to get invovled in making creations and commenting on them. Personally, I think that the responsability for making suggestions should be at the hands of the staff of those creative forums. They have to read every topic in there in anyway, so I don't think it would be a big deal to ask them to produce one suggestion per week. All it would take would be a PM saying: "Hey B6, found a cool MOC/Artwork/Epic/SS/Comedy for the front page [link]." That might get some movement on that issue, because I think posting member creations on the front page is essential for this site's survival. As for political discussion, I've got mixed feelings on the creation of a polical/religious subforum. On the one hand, if it was created, I would practically live there. And by live there I mean that I would actively participate in virtually every topic and create a new topic about every other week. On the other hand, I'm not sure if BZPower is mature enough yet. However, the fact that this topic has gone on with mature and honest discussion gives me some hope that reasonable political/religious discussion can exist. However, if such a subforum is created, it should not have any age restrictions at all. Whether or not a person is capable of discussing politics should depend on how they behave themselves in the forum, not based on their age. For example, I could have an intelligent politcal discussion when I was 12 (yeah, I know I'm wierd), but I know adults that appear to be incapable of discussing such topics. Ironically, the only way to find out if BZPower is capable of having a politcal forum may be to just create one and then buckle up for the ride.In this vein, COT should be re-structured. At the least, there should be seperate "COT Library" and "COT RPG" subforums. This would go very far towards making BZPower a great community to be a part of.Also, some of the rules need to be changed. The word filter is out-dated, and the inability to link to certain sites (even though everybody knows what they are) is, quite frankly, ridiculous. Such rules don't really do much to protect children, and, in my view, only serve to drive prospective members away from BZPower.Beside all this, BZPower should always remain a Bionicle site at its core. I do favor more expanded discussion of other Lego lines, particularly constraction lines. However, the day that BZPower loses that Bionicle-ness is the day that it loses its soul.-don't touch my pocket protector

  18. DITTO! The Hero Factory needs to be an equal-employment institution.I also hope they do something a little more ambitious. HF seems like it's basically got itself into a groove and is just cranking out sets based on the same formula. I hope they mix up the building scheme up a bit and give us something different.-don't touch my pocket protectorJawblade doesn't seem to be based on the same formula, being the first fish-based character so far. Toxic Reapa's torso armor is almost entirely custom, and Thornraxx's entire build is custom. The basic torso beam is being reused a lot, but unless you want to go back to clunky specialized torsos then it's about as basic as it can get. So I don't know what you mean by sets being"based on the same formula".I was mainly talking about the Heros' build. After 2.0, they all seem to be the same. DITTO! The Hero Factory needs to be an equal-employment institution. Why, in the name of all fuzzy tomatoes, do robots even need genders anyway? The only thing I can think of is this: If LEGO makes the sets androgynous, they will undoubtably all be heralded as male anyway. Better to have female robots - which makes as much sense as having male robots - than to have feisty female folks furiously fustigating LEGO. The controversy over the Friends line should be enough to keep LEGO from considering that possibility - plus, androgynous robots would be rather hard to design. I guess it's human nature to categorize human-like things as male or female. That mindset abounds in the languages of non-English cultures, in form of masculine and feminine pronouns.Well, Lego wants people to connect to the characters, and I don't see how you can really do that by having to refer to them as "it" all the time. "It" is a toothbrush, or a lampstand, or a chair, not a character. They wanted to make the characters seem more "human" by giving them genders. However, if you have "he's" then also need "she's".I think that the only way for Lego to make female constraction sets is for either 12-year-old girls to show a marked interest in the line, or for 12-year-old-boys to demonstrate that they are willing to purchase female-looking sets. We can cry and moan and beg all we want for female sets, but at the end of the day, it's the kids that Lego is targetting. I just don't know how those kids can demonstrate their willingness to buy those sets without Lego first making them, which Lego is not willing to do unless the kids first demonstrate their willingness to buy them. It's something of a Catch-22.-don't touch my pocket protector
  19. Hero Factory appears to be fashioning itself as a sort of sci-fi theme. To me, sci-fi means one thing and one thing only: space. However, HF hasn't really made any space-themed sets yet. A promo picture in the Lego magazine does put Surge facing Splitface on what appears to be a moon, however, there's isn't much more than that. When I realized that HF was going to be more sci-fi orientented I was hoping they would launch the sets into space; something that would have been impractical with Bionicle. Would you like to see that happen, too? What do you think the sets should look like?-don't touch my pocket protector
  20. I personally think that Lego shouldn't under-estimate kids. When I was 7 my favorite line was Technic, and that's what drew me to Bionicle (back when Bionicle was labled as Technic). I had no trouble building any of those models, and even if I did, I could just ask Mom or Dad to help me out. Note to lego: kids aren't stupid. As for vehicles themselves, I was kinda hoping that HF would transition to a more space-like theme, and have space ships as vehicles. I'm already forming some awesome models in my head...-don't touch my pocket protector

  22. Except English didn't evolve from C++; it evolved from West Germanic(incidentally, English and Latin are not very closely related; English simply borrowed a number of words from Latin and French). There really isn't a conceivable way to have started out with a programming language and ended up with Matoran. Even if the Matoran started with an actual language, remember that there are Matoran who were alive before the Shattering, when the MU was still being constructed. In one or two generations, the language isn't going to change much except for slang. But English people didn't evolve from robots controlled by C++.-don't touch my pocket protector
  23. Backin 2008, Lego introduced vehicles for Bionicle. Now however, with Hero Factory, it appears as if they've stopped the practice. Why? The vehicles were always neat and some of my favorite sets. Do you think Lego should bring back vehicles to Hero Factory, and what should they look like?-don't touch my pocket protector
  24. Oh, I imagine they would. Look to real history. Over the years many traditions and sports migrate to different cultures. Lacrosse was first played by American Indians and now it's played by thousands of people from all cultures. Traditional African were brought to America, and now they are enjoyed by all Americans. I'm sure Kohlii will face a similar fate. Even if the Agori don't take to it, the Matoran will still keep the tradition alive.-don't touch my pocket protector
  25. I'm terribly inconsistent about this. In one topic I said "Toa of Stone" and then I went and made a topic five minutes later that said "toa of stone". Usually, however, I capitalize words such as Toa, Matoran, Makuta, Turaga, and Rahi.As far as the language itself, I think it evovled. The original matoran language was a programming language, but the matoran gradually altered it into what it is today, much like the evolution of the English language. The term "Rahi" may have evovled into a term for the species instead of a generic term for "beast". Same with Toa and other words.-don't touch my pocket protector
