  1. I didn't like how the end was pulled off. It seemed really cheap to me that the biggest, baddest villain ever got killed by a falling rock. I would have liked all of the Toa Nuva to jointly sacrifice their powers to seal Makuta away forever. That would have had a final message of Unity, and it would have provided closure. In 2001 at the beginning, the toa learned of their destiny, and at the end in 2010 they fulfilled it.-don't touch my pocket protector
  2. When the Alien Conquest line first came out, I thought it was cool and funny. Funny-looking Aliens abducting cows and unsuspecting reporters was great, but when a group of earthlings formed a special team that used cutting edge technology to defeat the aliens at alien saucer landing spots, my inner geek meter started going crazy. Why? Because this sounded all-too-familiar to a certain tactical turn-based strategy game called X-COM:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UFO:_Enemy_UnknownHave there ever been any other Lego lines that have seemed similarly inspired by video games?-don't touch my pocket protector
  3. Teridax. I was sad to see our beloved villian of nearly 10 years go like that. The death of Matoro I thought was a good thing, though. I think that Bionicle needed to kill of a few more major good guys in heroic ways. -don't touch my pocket protector
  4. There was a lot back-stabbing going on among the ranks of the Makuta as well. Teridax didn't want for the Brotherhood to control Mata-Nui, he wanted to control Mata-Nui himself. That led him to betray all other supposed threats (other Makuta) which led to their deaths. As stated before, the Karda-Nui episode is not indicative of the powers of the Makuta. They never intended to beat the toa, only to give the impression that they didn't want the toa to revive Mata-Nui, which was not true. Also, don't undersell the powers of the toa. Unlike the Makuta, they always worked together, not constantly against each other. Think of the Makuta as the Philadelphia Eagles. There's a ton of talent on that team, but they don't have any chemistry whatsover, and so they're losing.-don't touch my pocket protector
  5. You can call the number, but don't do it. You'd probably just get a lawyer who wants to know if you or a loved one has ever gotten lead poisoning from the paint in your house.-don't touch my pocket protector
  6. I would not put them under a strong light. While the parts probably will fade in color over time, it's best not to subject them to any sort of increased exposure. It certainly can't help anything...-don't touch my pocket protector
  7. Well, the Alien Invasion line does look suspisiously like X-COM: UFO Defense, so I could see a L4D-esque set being produced. While I understand the concerns that zombies may not be age appropriate, I personally think that if you are going to complain about violence, then there's a ton of violence already in lego. There a like a bazillion guns made into Lego Bricks, plus multiple sets focused on war and battles, plus the Star Wars line which has lightsabers that can cut off limbs, plus the Harry Potter line which had some fairly creepy scenes with Voldemort and Dementors, plus Hero Factory which is basically 100% combat, plus the aforementioned Alien Invasion line which has Alien "head crabs" (as Half-Life fans call them) that possess people. With all that violence already there, I don't see how a de-gorified zombie line wouldn't be age appropriate. Heck, it could be hilarious. EDIT: Also remember to suggest zombie sets the next time a Lego survey rolls around if you want them.-don't touch my pocket protector
  8. What's happened in the last year? Well, for five months the site was down while it was being upgraded, and it only came back a couple of months ago. Then last week it was down for a few days due to a database error, but it's back online now.Basically what the upgrade did was create a read-only archive where old topics are put. That move has made BZPower run much smoother, however, in order to do that they had to change forum software, thus we get this forum. I'm still getting used to it. For more info on the upgrade, check out this topic: http://www.bzpower.com/board/index.php?showtopic=622-don't touch my pocket protector

  10. What were the main reasons? Oh, and if you're not Premier, don't muck up the results by voting in this poll. Just view results, please.-don't touch my pocket protector
  11. I liked Tales of the Masks the best. It was GregF's first book, and consequently, the best written of the bunch.-don't touch my pocket protector
  12. These quote tags have become a mess, so I'm responding in paragraph form. First of all no internet poll is scientific. A poll in VB is not scientific and a poll in GD is not scientific. The point of an internet poll is not to be scientific. The point is to provide a vehicle for discussion, and I belive that in their current place, they are failing that function. My point is that polls should be moved so that they can create more discussion, not just to give members access to them. The fact is that it is so easy to dodge the PM requirement that it doesn't matter whether you make them PM only or available to everybody, there's not real effect. There may be people who only became PMs because of the polls, I don't know. But I maintain that the majority of people who become PMs do it for the games, images, and blogs. Not for the polls. I guess the only way to figure out is to poll them, though . Speaking of which, I think that's a good idea...EDIT: I made that poll, and it can be accessed here: http://www.bzpower.c...?showtopic=1842-don't touch my pocket protector
  13. I don't forsee myself leaving BZPower anytime soon. Later, when I do go to college and get a job my activity may go down a little bit, but I'll probably never leave this forum unless it goes off-line.-don't touch my pocket protector
  14. My heart stopped for a second when I read the words "database error" and then I ran to make sure that I had all my important stuff saved on my computer. I remember all too well what happened the last time there was a database error...-don't touch my pocket protector
  15. I think too much is being made of both DBM and LU going off at about the same time. Lego is a strong company has always been strong even when the economy hasn't been. I think they're just canceling things that didn't pan out and are trying to streamline profits, just like all companies do. Still, it's sad to see DBM go, but hopefully they'll stick to the customizable idea with things like Hero Factory Recon and perhaps a new service later.-don't touch my pocket protector
  16. It's called "Insta-learn". I probably should of set it off a little more with a "3000" or repeat it multiple times, but this is a more in-studio kind of infomercial and less of a direct response TV spot.-don't touch my pocket protector
  17. Off the top of my head, this seems like a valid possibility. I have often worried that the polls don't get enough attention. On the other hand, the way it's done now is valid and probably smarter, as you're more likely to get a representative cross-sample this way. If a poll, for example, about "Favorite Toa" is in S&T, mostly only people who regularly frequent S&T will vote, so it will be slanted towards a story-focused bias. So the results will be much less reliable.I think the best solution is just for all of us to make an effort to every once in a while go through and vote in most new polls.True, I'm not here addressing your point about discussion, but a lot of times discussion isn't needed; the vote says what needs to be said. If it is, people are free to do so now in the polls. And I've seen plenty of discussions happen in polls.(That said, for example, we on the Story Squad do often start with a discussion topic in S&T first before going to the polls. But most polls don't need that kind of caution; they're just informal curiosity.)[Edit: In other words, just because they didn't go in depth into their reasons in a post doesn't mean the vote was 'mindless.' ]I don't believe that you'll ever get a scientific sample in an internet poll. The only way to do it would be to get a random sample by PMing a certain number of active members, which is not a good idea. But that logic could have us taking away all perks and making them open to anyone. Also, asking a Premier to do it for you is no big deal anyways, so what's the issue? Besides, this gives us a filter so that a lot of spammy polls don't get made. Watch the VB on the days when we open it up to everyone, and you'll see that wouldn't work well all the time. I disagree. Normal members have no ability to create a blog, no access to special ranking pics, and have to have a PM stay on as an active co-host to start a game. But for a poll, you just as PM and he'll do it. The fact that it isn't such a big deal is my point. It isn't really a perk at all because you could do it almost as easily before. I don't believe that fewer people will become PMs just because making polls isn't a perk. Also, as of right now, VB is open to everybody because everybody has premier perks, you be the judge of whether it's spammier now than before. Now: http://www.bzpower.c...hp?showforum=15Before: http://www.bzpower.c...hp?showforum=15 I agree, but that reasoning doesn't lead to the conclusion that some perks can't be lesser than others. Also, you would do well, I think, to read the recent news about the closure of LEGO Universe. It's tempting to think like "they could get by with less" but we have run a successful financial system here for ten years, and the LU end shows that you can't always get by. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Don't get me wrong. I think that premier membership has really helped BZPower stay afloat all these years and I am absolutely not saying that it should stop. All that I'm saying is that making polls is not a big perk at all. All a normal member has to do is to just PM a friendly PM and get his poll set up.-don't touch my pocket protector
  18. Looks like epics aren't the only BZPower thing they make:http://booksllc.net/search.cfm?keyword=BZPowerFrom what I understand, though, all of these books are print-on-demand. They don't print up a whole store of books and wait to ship them, they print them if you want them.-don't touch my pocket protector
  19. Whoops! For some reason when I pasted multiples came up. I've fixed it now.-don't touch my pocket protector
  20. Oh yes, I remember playing Lego Racers for hours on end. To date it's still one of the best Lego games ever, and the models you built are a great homage to Racers. They're very similar to the original bosses, but have a little different spin on them due to using the same base. For some, this worked out great (Redbeard and Basil specifically), but for more compact cars like Veronica it doesn't come off as good because you have to fill in stuff that really isn't there in the game. However, all of them are well-built and fantastic looking. Props.-don't touch my pocket protector
  21. The load times for me were so bad that it totally ruined my whole experience and I never finished the MNOG until very recently. Since I've lived my entire life with terrible internet, I've learned to hate long load times.-don't touch my pocket protector
  22. Who won that game?-don't touch my pocket protector
  23. I'm not familiar with copyright laws regarding stuff you post on the internet, but I might do some research. Still, it seems really strange that Amazon would bundle together a bunch of fan-fiction about a dead toy line and try to sell it. Who would buy it other than people on BZPower who can just look it up for free?EDIT: I did some quick research, and came up with a couple of links:http://mason.gmu.edu/~montecin/copyright-internet.htm http://www.benedict.com/digital/Internet/Usenet.aspxBasically, anything that you post that is original is copyrighted. I cannot go and copy off somebody's epic here and re-post it on another site unless I have the writer's permission to do so. I can link to the epic from that other website, but I cannot reproduce that content. If this book is really full of BZPower epics, then it violates copyright law. -don't touch my pocket protector
  24. I had Jamaal Charles, too. But I was actually able to pick up Fred Jackson off the waiver wire (don't ask me how he got there). He's getting like 20 points per game. Maybe next year we could set up a BZPower Fantasy Football league.-don't touch my pocket protector
