Even though GregF hasn't made any recent updates to the serials, it's still really incredible that he's even keeping the story going. Keep in mind that he's basically do this on his own without any support from Lego. You mean the ones made by Traveler's Tales (TT) Games? I didn't think that those were that bad. They were actually quite good in my opinion. What's wrong with them?I think that there's nothing wrong with them. They're just repetitive. They may have been new and awesome when LEGO Star Wars: The Videogame first came out, but after about ten titles with so little variation outside of the levels, it gets old. That echos my exact sentiment. I think Lego needs to break from the tried and true formula, and I think Hero Factory offers them that opportunity. Just like Bionicle before it, Hero factory is different from the traditional system line (both in terms of building style and in storyline) and I think a different sort of game such as an FPS or cover-based third person shooter would work out. -don't touch my pocket protector

Just for clarification: a mask has no relation on a toa's element at all. However, from what I understand, the Mask of Light was quite unique because when the right matoran put it on (Takua) it actually gave that matoran the elemental power of light and turned them into the Toa of Light. So while technically Takanuva's light power is not related to his mask, originally Takua got it from the mask. -don't touch my pocket protector

Technically not, because Lego would need permission for that, but it is obviously influenced by Starcraft/Warhammer 30k. Overall these minifigs look pretty sweet. I especially like the hippie, the nerd, and the pajama dude. -don't touch my pocket protector

I don't do memes; they betray a lack of creativity. However, I have noticed a lot more ponies since the forums came back online. That either means that a rouge group of eight-year-old girls took over BZPower, or that the MLP meme has spread it's hoofs father on the net. -don't touch my pocket protector

I'm thinking more of a third-person cover-based shooter, similar to Gears of War (but this is Lego, so maybe Gears of War isn't a good comparison ). Maybe you could throw in some special abilities based on which hero you are, or even better, a customizable hero with some RPG elements. -don't touch my pocket protector

On Mata-Nui at least I'd imagine a sort of tribal flavor with plenty of flutes and drums, especially in Le-Koro. As far as the matoran in Metru-Nui, I'm not so sure. There isn't that much material dealing with any sort of culture on the island of Metru-Nui. However, the music would probably be less tribal and more techno-oriented due to the superior technology they have on Metru-Nui. -don't touch my pocket protector

In the old forums, all the stuff that had been posted over the course of ten years was all stored in an editable format on the actual site. None of it was archived and so it really clogged up browsing around. Now all that old stuff is archived in a read-only format that doesn't take up nearly as much space. This way the forums move much faster. Also, from what I understand the staff also had to change their hosting service because their long-time host stopped providing hosting services. Also, it changed some of the forums (collectables and sets are put together, there's a new movies/music artwork forum, and everything is under the "Lego" heading instead of Bionicle). So yeah, overall quite an improvement, except for the skin. -don't touch my pocket protector

Hapka wrote that, so it may not fit with what Greg considers to be canon, after all, he's a writer, not a researcher, and probably forgot to fit that little quote into the part of the canon storyline that he wrote. Keep in mind that Matoran don't speak english, so it's probably not a literal translation. It's likely some matoran expression that would be nonsensical in english (or any other human language). Or it was probably just put in as a figure of speech, and then retconed when a bunch of blood-thirsty teenagers on BZPower started asking about blood in Bionicle . -don't touch my pocket protector

Good luck getting an answer to that one . However, I would postulate that matoran aren't "born" so to speak. There are a lot of clues that matoran are actually "built". Wasn't it when the matoran returned to Metru-Nui that the turaga taught the matoran how to "re-build" themselves? -don't touch my pocket protector

Well, that actually makes some sense because the rise up from Metru-Nui to the island of Mata-Nui was probably some sort of gradual inclined plane, it wasn't like they were sailing directly up. The foot door just cracks me up. There just happens to be a door right where you need it. That was just sloppy. -don't touch my pocket protector

After all, we never got into too much detail on a Matoran's anatomy, so we wouldn't know. We know for sure they have lungs and muscle, and they might have nerves, unless they're body structure is almost completely different from ours. As far as we know, though, there are no fluids in their body whatsoever, since we have never seen a Matoran Universe character bleed anything when wounded. The Bara Magna inhabitants might be a different story, though. Anyways, it's a good theory. I like these type of things. Well, the sole purpose of the heart is to pump blood throughout the body. If they don't have blood, then they don't have a heart. However, there might be some other organ or system that transports oxygen throughout the body. -don't touch my pocket protector

I agree that Reidak at first looks very strong, but he was actually fairly stupid so the other, more cunning piraka could probably just outwit him. I always liked Zaktan the best (mainly due to his protodite power) and I think he could probably beat the others with it. Also, he seems to be the smartest of the piraka, and could probably find a way out of a jam very quickly. However, these questions will forever remain unresolved until somebody mods the piraka into Mortal Kombat. -don't touch my pocket protector

I totally disagree. The darkness and treachery behind that story made it one of my favorite years. The way that it was pulled off felt far from inelegant to me. However, the concept of the toa constantly changing from one form to other is kind of inelegant, and purely designed to sell toys. But you could complain about that for virtually every year, not just 2005. -don't touch my pocket protector

Where does he say this? Can you give me a linke? Yeah, but keep in mind that we're all nerds here, and nerds' jobs are to overthink things. We changed the world by overthinking things. As for the theories themselves, they are quite interesting. I guess in a human body, the oxygen is transported throughout the body via a liquid, whereas in a matoran it is transported while still in a gaseous state. If it was liquid, then that would be called blood. But you mention tubes that feed the oxygen to the major organs, what would push the oxygen through those tubes? In a human body that function is carried out by the heart, but since matoran don't have blood, they don't have a heart (that sounds so wrong). -don't touch my pocket protector

I agree. The whole alternate universe thing became an overused gimmick to quickly get out of a literary jam. I would have liked some more creative solutions to those problems than just "oh, we'll teleport to an alternate universe now." However, Dark Mirror did have a ton of alternate universe stuff, but it was my favorite serial. But that was kind of the whole point of the serial, so I think it fit. Otherwise, it's just a cheap way to bypass writer's block. -don't touch my pocket protector

I don't like the new board at all. The text editor hates me, there's no Tohu in the banner, and the green in the skin clashes horribly. I hope I'll get used to it, but overall I liked the old version much better. -don't touch my pocket protector

My two favorites are Time Trap and Web of Shadows. Time Trap because it had only a single protagonist and so it allowed Greg to develope that one character more, as opposed to having to develope six and one time. Web of Shadows mainly due to Vakama's treachery. For the first time, the good guys weren't always good, and that enhanced the story. -don't touch my pocket protector

I agree. I miss having Tohu in the top banner, and some of the greens on this skin class horribly. However, I'm just glad that BZP is back. -don't touch my pocket protector
