  1. I would prefer Bionicle to end completely rather than have it carry on in a zombie-like state for years. I really wish all the serials would be wrapped up and then we could finally close the book on this great franchise. -don't touch my pocket protector

  3. I always thought that the difference between Earth and Stone was...questionable...at best. I've always wondered: what could a toa of stone do that a toa of earth couldn't do? A toa of stone can control stone, but since stone is made of earth, couldn't a toa of earth control it as well?Phrased specifically: what could Pohatu do that Onua couldn't?-don't touch my pocket protector
  4. Personally, I always thought that Stone and Earth should be labeled under "Earth". But back to the original question. Water and Ice are different because they control different things. Water controls the physical entity of liquid, however, it cannot change the state of matter of a subtance. A toa of water cannot turn water into ice or steam, for instance. The power of Ice, however, controls temperature. An ice toa can change the state of matter of a subtance. To an extent, both Fire and Ice control the same thing (temperature), but in reverse. A toa of fire cannot flash freeze something by sucking the heat out of it, nor can an ice toa melt something upon a touch by reversing his control of temperature. This same argument applies to the light/dark question. A toa of light could use his power of light to control darkness indirectly, but it would be more difficult. Plus, you wouldn't have the epic Dark vs Light struggle .-don't touch my pocket protector
  5. DITTO!But yeah, I liked that part. And what program did you Photoshop to get this?Baseball Mogul 2009. It's a sports managing game that takes place almost entirely through dialog windows. So when I needed a windows-looking dialog window to photoshop, that's where I went. And it also had a cool green background. Good catch! I couldn't decide whether Reloaded or Revolutions was more appropiate, and I think what ended up coming out was a combination of the two . I think I'm going to fix it to say Reloaded, though, because that was when Agent Smith really started copying himself.-don't touch my pocket protector
  6. Yeah, Karzahni wasn't exactly the most light-hearted person, if you get what I mean. He was also crazy, so he doesn't really need a rational reason to do something, does he?-don't touch my pocket protector
  7. Glad to see the Multiverse is back up. When it first launched I thought it was a great idea, but I never kept up with it because I never knew when new chapters to the Cipher Chronicles were updated. I hope that any major updates to it will be posted on the front page.I've got another question, how much "fan-made" material will be accepted as "canon" in the story, and how will that material be determined?-don't touch my pocket protector
  8. I usually try to figure out exactly what somebody's banner or avatar is, but if I can't after a few moments I just give up. A lot of times it's just something original that doesn't mean anything to any specific franchise in anyway.-don't touch my pocket protector
  9. The color scheme looks really messy. There's no astetic flow to it, and the black, white, red, sliver, and trans-organge really clash horribly. I like the look of the hand-cuff piece, though, especially since it looks like it could fit onto a hero's hands. I can think of a ton of role-playing (and MOCing) applications for that.-don't touch my pocket protector
  10. Hmmm, what is on my mind? Well, in front of my mind are my eyes (connected via the optical nerve) and in front of those are my glasses. On top of my mind is a shock of messy dark hair, and above that is a Tennessee Titans cap.

  11. I seriously doubt that the matoran will go extict. While at a certain point matoran may begin to get hold and eventually stop functioning, that would take a long time. Before that, they've got plenty of time to create new matoran, which I think they'll do.-don't touch my pocket protector
  12. It would be nice to have more feminine-looking parts. Almost all of the female characters in Bionicle (and now Hero Factory) looked identical to their male counter-parts. If I didn't know they were supposed to be female, I would have thought they were guys. -don't touch my pocket protector
  13. Yeah, yeah, I know... Space and I are freaks of nature. And, yes, I did like stuff like Bionicle, but I was always wishing that it was more... girl-friendly. I wished that more of my friends could like it instead of Bratz. And since I've been told so many times that it's too hard to make something appeal to both genders equally without jeopardising sales, I would like to see something on par with Bionicle, story and set-wise, that could reach a female audience. I think people like Space and I are proof that it could work, if it was done well.Sure, maybe one or two of the characters could have pink on them, but I'd actually like to see a range of colours and styles. After all, contrary to popular belief, girls can be just as diverse personality-wise as boys. Not freaks of nature, it's just that your parents were much more awesome than most girls' http://www.bzpower.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/cool.png . And as for the personality, I think the reason for that is the "smurf problem". In the Smurf books, there was lazy smurf and grouchy smurf and brainy smurf and so on. And then there was smurfette, whose main feature was that she was a girl. This happens everywhere, even in Bionicle somewhat. A full range of male personalities is represented, and then there's one female character who's "the girl". -don't touch my pocket protector
  14. Maybe "favorite color" wasn't the right term. What I was saying was that from an early age, parents associate their daughter with pink. Girls on TV are shown playing with pink things. Girls are taught that pink is for them. Parents think that pink is for their daughter as well. So the daughter wants pink things, and the parents want to buy the daughter pink things (which is probably what made the daughter want pink things to begin with). It's a cycle. Now, I'm not saying that all girls like pink. All I'm saying is what you're saying: that pink has been associated with girls, and that the girls, but more specifically the parents, want to conform to this arbitrary standard that's been set.-don't touch my pocket protector
  15. I think a makuta could resist a krana, provided that s/he wasn't weaked prior to encountering it. As for Glatorian/Agori, pretty much what Erebus said. The Krana works by "reprogramming" the matoran or toa. Since the Glatorian/Agori are biological, they wouldn't respond to the "reprogramming".-don't touch my pocket protector
  16. This very story actually had a small spot on Rock Center with Brian Williams on NBC tonight. I don't have a link since it only 30 minutes ago, but I'll try to find a clip somewhere on the interwebs ASAP.@Space and Alyska: You aren't exactly a representative sample of girls. The fact that you are on a forum devoted to Bionicle means that you were probably fans of the "boy" lines of Lego.As for Lego's move, I'm not so sure if it's the girls that want the pink stuff so much as the parents that tell them to want it. I think at a point the girls themselves really want it, however, that's because they've been innundated in pink "girly" things. They come home from the hospital in a pink blanket. They go to sleep in a pink crib. Their room is painted pink. They're given pink toys to play with. Gee, I wonder what their favorite color is?The parents try to buy stuff that looks "girly", so all the aliens and knights and dragons and soldiers get passed over on the way to the barbie section. This is a move to snag parents more than anything, however, it may turn out well financially.-don't touch my pocket protector
  17. I don't think such a topic would ever work on BZPower. Even if it was well policed, I think that the arguments in there would bleed over into other forums. For instance, say you found out that a member on here was the exact opposite of you politically. Wouldn't you view that member just a little more negatively in other places? And even if you wouldn't some people would. The drama and debates would escape that forum and enter BZPower proper. Plus, there are plenty of places on the web where you can discuss politics and religion. The fact that you can't do it on BZPower isn't a huge deal.-don't touch my pocket protector
  18. From what I understand, the Agori/Glatorian do reproduce biologically. However, the family atmosphere wasn't really touched upon. This is just pure speculation, but I would imagine that before The Shattering, the Agori had families much like ours. However, after The Shattering, survival became much more difficult, and the children were probably raised to be self-sufficient from an early age. At this point, I think an accurate parallel comes from the Dune universe (wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dune_universe).In Dune, natives called Fremen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fremen) live on a desert planet where water is valued above all else, much like Bara Magna. The entire family structure is built upon survival and water conservation. From an early age, the children are taught to survive in the harsh desert climate. Some of the tribal politics and feudal customs are not applicable, however, but it does provide some insight into survival on Bara Magna, especially since Dune probably served as an inspiration for Bara magna.-don't touch my pocket protector
  19. True, but the theorem was that if they didn't create a good story, the toys wouldn't get sold. At least, that is probably what they thought back then, but now...Just because the movies were made to sell toys, doesn't mean that there weren't deeper themes inherant. Yes, I know it's a kids' movie, but still. Many other Bionicle media expounds upon the ideas of friendship and unity, as well as the developing relationships between the toa. MLP:FIM fans might tell you a thing or two about how a show made to sell toys can house deeper themes within it.-don't touch my pocket protector
  20. Well, I didn't notice that they were different from normal bricks. I guess the main difference is the scale. A minifig is a little taller than three normal bricks built on top of each other. But these are much smaller. Google image searching now...-don't touch my pocket protector
  21. Do you have any pics? I want to see what these bricks look like.-don't touch my pocket protector
  22. Ninjago mildly interested me, but now that I've learned there's a story I'm interested. The only media I've seen are the shorts that are on the Lego Magazine DVD, and I kinda liked them. Are any of the shows online?-don't touch my pocket protector
  23. What do you think about Hapori Tohu doing his part to support BZPower by posting the news talkback threads? Personally, I love it. I still miss him from the top banner, though .What do you think of it? Do think Tohu should do more? Less?On another interesting note about Tohu, I'm not sure how many of you have noticed that his post count is always exactly 42. Is this a reference to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? I think so. On Black Six's profile page, he lists Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker's author) as one of his favorite authors. He would certainly get the joke.-don't touch my pocket protector
  24. I don't think it's because of any programming error, it's just because of their disposition. Generally, all of the air beings were fun-loving and joking, but also vain and impacient and implusive. That disposition allowed for them to manipulated to evil ends.-don't touch my pocket protector
  25. Yes, but familiar setting does not have to equal familiar plot. There have been hundreds of fantasy books that basically take place in the same Tolkien-esque setting, but they have different plots. I image that whatever eventually replaces HF will probably be somewhat similar in setting to it, but I hope that the story will evolve somewhat.-don't touch my pocket protector
