On May 15th I may be making the 8-hour trip to Charleston, SC, to see my oldest brother graduate from his military training, and after visiting for a couple of days I'll be returning with my belongings (PC & speakers & Midi keyboard & other things that I've missed dearly). I mean it's probably going to happen, it just depends on the condition of my parent's car. So I'm really amped right now and just wanted to share with someone!

One or two or none of you may have noticed that my activity around these parts has dropped almost entirely over the past month or two. I still frequent BZP and the blogs every day, and hopefully this place flares up around August when the skull gang is unleashed, so I'll feel compelled to participate in discussion again.

I had a dream this morning about Bionicle sets. Next year's wave had been released, consisting of underwater-adapted Toa that looked pretty much identical to the Mahri, except in the new oddly-shaped boxes. There were also Turaga, and I collected them all. The interesting part of the dream was that I was underwater, in this magnificent dark blue sea filled with wreckage that had been inhabited by friendly mer-people. It was one of those dreams where I spent the day wishing that it wasn't a dream...it was just so cozy.

I am also rewatching Lost again. I think this is my third time watching the show. Every time I rewatch it, I discover new stuff that makes me giddy and excited. Little things, like Kate's toy airplane. It was in safety deposit box #815!

A few days ago I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I'm ashamed to admit that it is the first book I've read in over a year, but it reminded me that I love reading, and since then I've also read Ender's Game, and have some more HP books in the mail. I think I'll give The Wheel of Time a shot in the near future. I know little about it, but I've heard some outstanding reviews.

Oh and my little brother bought a bass guitar. For at least 4 hours a day (but usually longer) I have to listen to him struggle to strum the same four melodies over and over and over and over...it's quite agitating.

That's about it. A little general update, for anyone interested.

Are your 2015 Gold Masks sitting at the side of your desk serving no purpose whatsoever? Perhaps you should build this simple rack out of common pieces to put them on display!

Posting this here since I don't think it belongs in BBC. The bonus with this is that they have eyes, and you can pretty much use any color you'd like!

I was at Walmart today and the Minecraft sets caught my eye. If they had Snow Hideout I probably would have caved in and bought it...fortunately they didn't, but they did have a bunch of $5 Mixels, so I decided to finally buy one.

Mixels are pretty great. It was a tough choice between this guy and the purple wizard, in the end I made a snap decision and went with Glomp. I like his mustache.

There's a contest on Reddit to build a Bionicle MOC with twenty pieces or less, so inspired by BBCC 69 I built a CCBS Keetongu.

I made it for lulz, but I know some people here really want a CCBS Keetongu so there you go!

If you're struggling to find the new Bionicle sets (like me), then you'll be happy to know that Barnes and Noble is selling them. My local B&N has all of the Toa, but none the Protectors. Also, if you order online, you get free shipping on orders over $25, and unlike the LEGO store, you don't have to pay sales tax.

Those 90 degree axle pieces are new to me, and I've been itching to do something interesting with them. Here's what I came up with.

It's really easy to build, and works wonderfully - the claws snap open and closed, and have enough force to lift medium-weight Bionicle parts.

I was forced to take a hiatus from producing music, but as of a couple days ago I am able to make stuff again! Here's the first thing I've made in eight months.

When I first got my computer set up, I started producing immediately, but it was awful. I couldn't do the most basic things. Fortunately I wrapped my head around everything pretty quickly, and right now I am working on a Bionicle song that I've been wanting to start for a month or so. It uses samples from the webisodes, and there are sections for each Toa with music that tries to reflect their personalities. Ekimu's Prophecy of Heroes will play through the intro, and some other piece of dialogue will play through the breakdown. It's sounding pretty cool so far, even if I'm only just starting. Maybe I'll share some WiPs after I've spent more time on it.

I got my signed LoSS like half an hour ago (https://www.flickr.com/photos/129809225@N03/16391291235/). I'm reeeaaallyy tempted to open it. I think I'll keep it sealed for now, and if that trans-orange Hau promotion comes to the US then I'll buy LoSS online and keep this one closed.

The guys at LEGO have some neat signatures. MATT is the best I think

I have to have blood drawn every month to get it tested, and I learned three months ago (the first time that I had it drawn) that I'm totally prone to passing out. Tomorrow I have to give blood for the third time, and I'm dreading it. Here's what happened when I passed out:

    -was blind for 3+ minutes
-the nurse kept putting ammonia in my face and it took a few seconds for me to smell it
    -couldn't talk
    -my hearing got...weird

It was an interesting experience...but I hope it doesn't happen again. Afterwards I am going to check a few stores for Bionicle, since apparently Target restocks toys on Tuesdays.

    There's your Christmas tree.

I just wanted to pop in and say Merry Christmas to all you bloggers. Today I'll be enjoying an awesome ham and wishing that Florida had some snow. 2015 should be an interesting year, so perhaps I will have some things to post here in the future.

    Merry Christmas!

I was quite surprised when I logged on that I had the Premier Outstanding BZP Citizenship status today, and it was nice! =D Anyways, it's nice to be Premier agian. =) Another six months of joyous perks...

Unfortunately, I'm not able to be too intimate with BZP right now, yet with the initation of the tiresome intake of high school; however, I will be online throughout the lopping hours of the procastination-invokative climate of the weekends, so fear not. =)

Seeing as boasting on a nerdy level of academics, here's my Freshman schedule -

    1st) Pre-AP Earth/Space Science Honorary
    2nd) Drawing/Painting I/II
    3rd) PE... =(
    4th) Algebra I (I stink at math!)
    5th) Pre-AP English Honorary I
6th) Spanish I (this is great, because I'm fluent - shhh!)
    7th) AP-Human Geography

It's a truckload of stress, but hopefully I'll manage. Thank God the Floridian laws permit LTM, during which school's commencation is posponed by three well-spent hours.

I'll be getting college credit for my AP-Human Geography class, and I'm in the ninth grade; so that's awesome. =D

Unfortunately, however, all of this work prevents me from doddling gogle-eyed with my awesome Bionicle/Hero Factory sets, but fear not, for the obsession of this awesome understated obsession will remain implanted into my life for as long as it lasts. =) Long live LEGO!

Hello! I'd be kinda surprised to find someone reading this, but okay. Well, there's not much going on today, except that I really have to [start and] finish a board game for school. That is to say, for English class, I have an assignment due in which I need to read a book, and make a board game on it, and...Well, I have about 200 pages left in my book and it's due Friday. =( But the good news is that tomorrow, I have two periods free to talk to my friends, and listen to my iPod. =D

    Creatures of Okoto

    (...Preview.)

I'm moving pretty soon, and starting to work, and having to leave some stuff behind, and probably taking a little hiatus from Bionicle, at least to some degree. I'll still log on here and do This Month in Bionicle, but MOCs will probably be difficult, so Creatures of Okoto is being postponed. But, since I have a handful of combiners already, I'm going to share what I've got, rather than just sitting on them.

So, these are all made with the 2016 sets, and all of them have instructions (which have been put together similar to LEGO's official instructions, in the form of PDF booklets). Here are some pointers I've been following to enhance the quality of these, compared to my previous combiners:

-Use more parts. The alternates (made with just one set) use 80-90 percent of the pieces, at least. Combiners with two or more sets use at least 75 percent, in general.
-Higher standards. For each MOC I include, there are one or two that didn't make the cut.
-More photos. The topic will have one photo per MOC, but the video will show them off from different angles.

So without further ado, here are my Creatures of Okoto! (Bear in mind that, as a WiP, some of these have makeshift backgrounds, or no backgrounds at all.)

    Region of Jungle
Crystal Swamp Mite - Small insect found the the swamps. Built with Uxar, Creature of Jungle.
Swamp Gorgat - Large, camouflaged Creature which disguises itself as swamp-plants by stooping into the murky waters. Built with Umarak and Uxar.
Jungle Strider - Nimble and prone to fighting, but not very good at it. Built with Lewa, Uniter of Jungle.
Jungle Mammoth - Large and hostile, with powerful tusks. Built with Umarak, the Hunter.

    Region of Ice
Snow Runner - Small, swift Creature, able to evade any foe. Built with Melum, Creature of Ice.
Snow Bunny - Large and generally friendly, but capable of defending itself. Built with Kopaka, Uniter of Ice.
Ice Crusher - Massive, intelligent, territorial, and very mean. Built with Kopaka and Gali.

    Region of Water
Coral Stalker - Generally passive, large Creatures which prowl among colorful coral reefs. Built with Gali and Lewa.
Reef Spider - Common, simple Creatures which have little means of self-defense, but attract little attention. Built with Gali, Uniter of Water.
Gaboo - Somewhat large, stupid Creatures which harass the villagers, both above the water and under the sea.

Also, stay tuned for Music of Okoto: Songs of the Villagers. I'll be posting the topic tomorrow morning!

I've been busy as a Bohrok this year in my MOC building, so here's a little review of everything I made in 2015. Life is starting to speed up through January and February, so I don't know how active I can be in 2016, but I'll still be here on BZP. I know I couldn't live with myself if I faded away from the Bionicle reboot.

Speaking of which, I'll be heading to the store soon, since the local Target supposedly has some 2016 Bionicle sets in stock. Time to spend that Christmas money.

I wasn't sure if I'd be able to see Force Awakens, but my brother decided to treat us to tickets tomorrow!

Confession: I haven't even seen the trailer.

I'm excited. And, I haven't even had anything spoiled yet. Wonderful.

Today, Black Six distributed the digital perks from the 2015 BrickFair Convention Circuit, which officially concludes the circuit (for me, anyway).

    I sent in three MOCs:

...and had them returned a little early, because I thought my return address might change. (It didn't.)

Inside the package, along with the MOCs themselves, I got a few goodies:

    - Noble Ruru (Black)
    - Brain Attack polybag
    - Sealed Turaga Vakama polybag (awesome!)

I also chose "Rahi Wrangler" as my member title. Since it has a nice ring to it, and I like to build Rahi.

This was my first time participating in the convention circuit, and I'm really glad I did! BZP's gifts kicked butt, and it was just really cool to have some MOCs on display throughout the States, and to help contribute to Bionicle's presence at the events. It's definitely something I'll be participating in again in the future.

Just thought I'd give an update to the 3D Okoto project I shared the other day! I'll link the images in here to high-res versions.

The camera will start by looking down at the island, the way it appears in the Okoto map from bionicle.com:

In the animation, those clouds are drifting toward the north-west.

Then, it will swoop down, past the clouds:

The difference between those two images is subtle, but it looks really cool to actually see the clouds spread apart as they fly by. They also have varying heights, which adds a lot of depth in the animation.

Then the camera evens out by the Region of Fire/Region of Earth, and starts panning around the side of the island:

That's also where the title starts to fade in. These are frames directly from the animation, so they're not really glory shots...

The camera moves north, passed the Region of Stone toward the Region of Ice:

That's my least favorite angle of the island. Hopefully some mist in the snowy mountains makes it more interesting. You can also see the sun I painted; hopefully I can add a little lens flare effect as the volcano passes over the sun.

Then, the camera loops around and rises up to look at the Region of Water:

That's my favorite angle, despite the almost vertical rivers and huge white traces of a cloud.

Finally the camera comes to a stop in front of the Region of Jungle, and zooms in - and that's where the Region of Jungle segment of the project will begin.

I'll also have animations of the island between segments. So, after I've gone over all the wildlife combiners for the Region of Jungle, it'll zoom out of that region, and pan over to the next.

At this point I just want to touch up the colors and lighting, but I might add a few things, like smoke emitting from the volcano, mist in some of the mountains, and maybe specularity in the ocean.

All of the animations for the individual regions are completely finished. I really hope the new sets start appearing soon so I can start making some Creatures!

Wildlife of the Ancient City is out.

FINALLLY BECAUSE HOLY MONKEYTRUMPETS THAT WAS A LOT OF WORK

Most of the combiners that I made were included in the final project, but there were a few that didn't make the cut. Figured I'll post them here because why not, a couple of them are kinda cute. I'll even make up some names and descriptions.

    Scuttle
Found in and around the streams in the mountain range. These are a small and friendly Water Rahi which use a saw-like appendage to dig into the ground in search of food. (This is the only one that I kind of regret not including...cutie-pie.)

    Charged Hunter
A vicious predator found stalking the marshes of the decaying jungle. These Rahi are indistinguishable from their surroundings, and have a massive pincer-tail which they use to restrain their prey.

    Rock Drifter
An absurdly large, slow-moving beast found in the highest and flattest parts of the mountains.

    Ice Vulture
A similar species to the Vulture which is more cruel...This guy is cold to the heart.

    Stream Scavenger
I had to dive into the icy-cold streams of the mountain stretch to find this little guy. Stream Scavengers poke around in the mushy bottoms of the streams, scavenging for small plants to eat.

    Tenlim
He's called Tenlim 'cause he's got ten limbs. Seriously the ugliest Rahi I've ever seen, I mean what's with that face?

    ----------

Anyway go and read Wildlife of the Ancient City! I'm going to take a nice long break from making combiners.
  20. Nescent
The Summer wave is firing up and I'm really hyped. As of right now I won't be able to afford the Skull baddies, but I'll definitely buy Basher as soon as he hits the shelves, and hopefully the others before too long. I want to do a "Wildlife of the Ancient City" project, like a "Wildlife of Okoto 2.0:" Combiners for the Skull villains. Probably a lot of skeletal, undead Rahi to fit the wave's theme. Who knows what creepy wildlife has been developing in the spooky, abandoned city?

I also made a complete set of mask racks: One for the Protectors' masks, one for the gold masks, one for the corrupted masks & the gold Skull Spider mask & the MoCr (hopefully the MoCr will fit), and a small one for the Hero Pack's MoF and the Comic Con MoF (which I still don't own ). I'll probably share all that in BBC when I have some of the corrupted masks to display.

I wonder when the new sets will be available in the US...time to start selling some G1 sets to afford the G2 sets. Out with the old, in with the new.
  21. Nescent
Has that gold Skull Spider mask actually done anything in the story? I need to watch the rest of those webisodes.

I just finished reading The Subtle Knife a few minutes ago, and can't wait to start The Amber Spyglass. I last read the His Dark Materials trilogy 6-7 years ago in middle school so it really feels like the first time reading it, yet there's a lot of familiar stuff as well.

I also finished the Harry Potter series some time ago and shed more tears than I care to admit. After His Dark Materials I'm going to read Hyperion, I'm looking forward to seeing what that's all about.
  22. Nescent
My Mixels have been gathering dust so I built these savage little jungle-dwellers.

Well I am heading off to Charleston on Wednesday, I'll only be there for two days but I am anxious to leave Florida. The time has come for me to get a job (I submitted a few applications, with reluctance), so I'll probably be locked down here for a while still.

Did I say I'm trying to get a job? Oh god please someone stop me. I think that a nice long 16-hour road trip will make applications and such seem like a lesser ordeal.

I finished the fourth Harry Potter book, and now I have nothing to do while I wait for the next one to arrive. I read the series like seven years ago, and I know that the Order of the Phoenix was my favorite, so I can't wait. The last book I ordered was "Out For Delivery" for five days. Like...was it sitting there in my mail lady's car for five days? Hopefully that was a fluke.
