Before I start off, I'd like to state that even I'm not sure I'd like this happening, but its just a concept that came to mind. Basically, the question whether or not the Toa from 2015/16 will return in 2017 in a third form, and whether or not we'd like this, popped up a few times in the forums. Personally, I'd like to see something new for the canister-sized sets of 2017 - but how to accomplish this? From there came the following idea: What if in the winter wave of 2017, instead of regular small sets, the small products for Bionicle would rather be new sets of armor, masks and weapons for the Uniters? You'd get the regular and gold masks, new armor (not just the attachments, but shells and actual buildables) and new weapons - not just new weapon molds, but things you build. That way you'd still have the Uniters around without a whole new set of Toa. More importantly, this would free up the canister-sized line of the winter wave for something new and interesting other than the third iteration of the same toa characters. Specifically, the idea I had was that we'd get a set of villagers from all six tribes, and each with an animal mount. Water: Villager riding a shark or crab Jungle: Villager riding a bird (giant wasps are also possible, in keeping with Uxar) Stone: Villager riding a scorpion or weaponized camel Fire: Villager riding... I don't know, Fire serpent? I don't want to say phoenix because that's too bird-like, and we don't want repetition Earth: Villager riding a mole... or something else subterranean. Ground squirrel, maybe? I don't want to necessarily stick to the same species as the creatures this year. Ice: Villager riding a polar bear. Or penguin. Or walrus? Obviously we're talking about over-sized versions of these animals, big enough for villagers to mount. Not only would this give us more villager sets, which is awesome, and more fauna, which again is awesome, but we'd get them in pairs. Double awesome. The only other way I see Lego not using the same Toa team for the winter wave is by, I don't know, releasing beefed up protectors? Not likely. Come to think of it, this is more about how cool villagers and mounts would be, and less about armor instead of new small sets. Again, thinking this over, I myself might not be too keen on having toa upgrade packs instead of genuine small sets. Just a thought. Opinions?

So, last night, I dug out a blacklight pen because I wanted to see my Pohatu set with glowy limbs (oh, don't act like you haven't done it, too. ). Anyway, When I held the pen up to him, I noticed something interesting. In normal light, the color of his mask is identical to that of his armor. However, when held up to a blacklight... It turns almost black, while the rest of his armor retains its orange-y color. Has anyone else noticed this sort of thing? Is it a different plastic or something? And does this happen with any of the other 2015 masks? (Sorry for the not-so-decent pictures. Camera's never do see what we see, sadly.)

Well, all this hype around Bionicle 2015 launched me into a huge bionicle-based creation spree, and so far, I have made dragon versions of Makuta Teridax and Mata Nui, a Custom Island with all six elements influencing it's various biomes, and now, it's time to make something that resembles a Toa Armor. Well... almost, since I based it on a Halo blueprint. Not very original. But look at the bright side: There is something to be done on this matter. What do you think? So in a nutshell: Humanity would need to establish it's own form of "Toa" using recycled millitary armors, without even knowing they are being influenced by the Great Beings through the Matoran. The Great Beings would later be involved in some form when the elemental powers are given to the heroes. Yea, Matoran will be a separate species that has its own toa.

This is my version of Smooth Jazz's self-MOC Tarsus as a gladiator. Here is his entry to our matchup. I couldn't decide what type of gladiator to build, so I gave Tarsus a few interchangeable equipment sets. Depicted are the retiarius class, secutor class, and a few more which are probably less historically accurate. ^ Click the image above to view the MOCpages gallery. ^ Feedback is appreciated.

The Rahkshi leg parts were originally intended as levers Stormer could hold to operate whatever additional MOC I could think of attaching. But then I had some gray pieces about, so I tried using them with it and got this. I'm pretty happy with the result, but Stormer's shoulder spikes hinder posability with the armor. At least I can take them off and put them somewhere else. http://www.majhost.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=279614

You may be grateful to know that I shall not (quite) be making as annoyingly a long post this time (relatively ). And no controversy! It's still a decently long read so prepare your 'tl;dr's. As per usual, I'll start with some context before eventually presenting the NuvaTube inquiry. The Spherus Magnans have displayed some very, very advanced technology, much of which is beyond scientific understanding (and probably always will be). More specifically, the Great Beings displayed this incredible technology, principally via the Mata Nui Robot’s systems. If you think about it, we’re talkin’ about teleportation, large energy/mass exchanges, atomic control, space-time manipulation, graviton generation, practically limitless energy, advanced genetic expertise, radical nanotechnology, dimensional engineering, interstellar travel and so on and so forth. We could go on for eons. So, what kind of weapons do the macro-tech workers of this hyper advanced system use? Apparently, swords and spears. What...no...that can’t be right...right? I shall remedy the irritated look on your face by acknowledging weapons like Zamor/Rhotuka/Impact Crystal/Kanoka Launchers, which display interesting, advanced destructive abilities. I particularly like the Zamor Launchers’ ability to get past cover and effect targets without worrying about physical armour. My point is; I know they have advanced weapons. There is the argument that just because humans can use heat-seeking missiles, it doesn’t suddenly mean that a big stick isn’t an effective weapon. Maybe this principle still applies to the MU/Glatorian? If that were the case, and swords are effective against MU inhabitants, I would expect something like a conventional firearm to be common too, and that long ranged combat would be the norm. The biggest reason that close quarters combat left warfare in human history was that it was usually pointless to carry a bothersome melee weapon when your enemies can just take you out in a few hits or less with a single weapon, at close and long range. If we look at Toa, for example, we see that they almost always carry a melee weapon. Sure, I get that it focuses their Elemental Power, which has lots of ranged potential, whilst doubling up as a good close quarters option. I’m just wondering why there aren’t more weapons like Cordak Blasters and Lightstone rifles around, it would seem to me that they should be the norm, and then the more famous weapons were the specialist armaments. It’s just, why do all the baddies (like the Dark Hunters) bother with close quarters fighting (I’ll include throwing fireballs from relatively short distance as close quarters, since it’s all done within a comfortable visual range), when they could just pick up a Lightstone rifle and snipe a group of Toa almost as easily as a group of Matoran. As I have previously done, I’ll acknowledge the real word reasons. Namely: “swords-fights-are-always-more-epic” and “Guns don’t look as good in Lego and don’t really work as toy functions which are good selling points for kids’ toys”. But this is about trying to find in-canon rational. The only real counter-argument I could think of was that Bionicle armour is generally too tough for bullets, but that completely breaks down if swords are still effective, so that can't be it. Even if Toa are far stronger than we realise I’m sure they can come up with ballistics that work just as well, if not better, and that such weapons would be highly pervasive. Of course, there are much more exotic weapons, as I said, but the question stands: Where are all the guns?

This particular MOC isn't something I'm brimming with pride on. It was just a little experiment to see what I could do with the TNGM and the lime Nuva armor. My intention was to do something with the shoulders--it was intended to be a Matoran, so I kept it small and simple. The result turned out better than I thought, but it's still nothing compared to my renditions of both Dark and Light Teridax. Anyway, on to the MOC. (Or tablescrap, if you'd rather call it that.) Front Back Compared with Metru Takua Gallery I've got a few things that I've worked on in the last couple weeks that I'll post later. For now, that's all I've got. Have at it!

Behold: the modern-day knight! In a heavy-duty armored suit, with electronic movement assist, any and everybody can be a supersoldier! In three variants, designed for land, air and sea, it is an excellent choice for any and all armies to invest in. It can also be remotely piloted, in the event a human pilot cannot be found or does not need to be risked. The standard weapons for the land variant are as follows: over the right shoulder is a minigun, attached to the backs of the upper arms are missile racks, he carries a laser weapon in his right hand, a large missile launcher in his right, has another minigun on the bottom of his left arm, a flamethrower on the bottom of his right arm, and two extra missiles for his handheld launcher by the missile racks. These weapons are switched out depending on what variant it is being used as, but they always attach to the same hardpoint on the armor. Land Variant Front Left side Right side Back Air Variant Front Left side Right side Back Sea Variant Front Left side Right side Back Tell me what you think, compliments, creative criticism, almost anything! But don't you dare leave without commenting, or he'll have something to say about it to you...

Hello again! For my second MOC post, I have Tabimir, a dark Toa of Iodine. After experimenting with his elemental abilities and his knack for robotics, Tabimir has created a series of robots- the Iodine Arsenal- running on iodine-based fuel cells. There is a unique twist to this, however; the Arsenal is not only autonomous robots- they possess the ability to transform, split, and combine as powerful weaponized armor for Tabimir.Tabimir Gallery:http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=509841Iodine Arsenal Gallery:http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=509844Full Armor Form Gallery:http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=509843MOCpage: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/328783( Please note, any parts that appear to be pink are actually bright red. )
