Mask Of Speed
Why do Garan and Idris have great Ruru's, but Hafu has a powerless one? All three of them are Matoran, but the masks are different. This might have been because in 2004, TLG came out with a new Ruru mold, but that doesn't explain the differences. Anyone know? Chro
Garan and Idris have masks that are also powerless, despite the fact that the shape is of the Great Ruru. As far as I know there is no in-story reason for this. Quote save not only their lives but their spirits
The 1st Shadow
Powerless masks can be shaped as either Great or Noble. For example, Onewa wore a powerless Great Komau, which gained power upon his transformation into a Toa. Matoran can wear powered Kanohi, as seen with Jaller wearing Lhikan's Noble Hau. There's no continuity issue. Powerless masks can be in any shape and it has no effect on the Matoran. 3 Quote ~Your friendly, neighborhood Shadow ~Credit for Avatar and Banner goes to NickonAquaMagna~
TERIDAX941
It's the beauty of Matoran masks. They can look like whatever the mask maker wanted them to, and their only function is to keep the matoran operational so to speak. It'd be an interesting plot twist if a matoran wore a mask that looked like a Hau, but in reality was a Miru or something like that haha... Krakua wore a Mask of Telepathy shaped like a Mask of Shielding (the real-world reason was that it was a contest winner and the builder only had access to certain shapes). It's possible Krakua wore that mask as a Matoran. Quote "You are an absolute in these uncertain times. Your past is forgotten, and your future is an empty book. Akavakaku
And Norik's Great Pehuki was shaped like a Noble Kiril. About half of the Matoran on Mata Nui wore Great-shaped masks, whereas the Av-Matoran wore the Noble-shaped forms of those same masks. But all Matoran's masks, aside from Jaller's, are powerless.
