Ektris
Hello once again everybody! With so much excitement over BIONICLE's return, I thought what better time than now to finally update and post all of my checklists? These lists are intended to be simple in design and easy to use. They mimic the style used by many collectors for some action figure lines I also collect. To use them, simply click on the list you want below to open the full size version, open it in any image editing program, and fill in the boxes using the colors from the indices. There have been numerous changes since last I updated. These include the additional of several entire lists! Updates for 2015 are also well under way and will be continuously updated as new items are unveiled or images become available. Complete: Sets, Masks, Krana, Kraata, Kanoka, Rhotuka, Mask-like Sets Masks Krana Kraata Kanoka Rhotuka Mask-like Back Up Links Can't see the above images or the links aren't working? Try here:SetsMasksKranaKraataKanokaRhotukaMask-likeExamples For some examples of them in use, here are my lists:SetsMasksKranaKraataKanokaRhotukaMask-likeI hope you all find them as useful as I do. ~|ET|~ Edited November 23, 2015 by Ektris 9 E-T... Dorek
So THIS is what you were doing with those mask images, haha. Cool. I was actually just looking at BZP's list the other day and thinking it could use an update. As much as I don't want to get sucked back into collecting, I just bought the NYCC mask on eBay... good times. The 1st Shadow
Why are the helmet/mask/faceplates of Hydraxon and Maxilos missing? I would imagine those could still be part of the list, as they function the same way in sets. Or is it just because they aren't "Kanohi?" ~Your friendly, neighborhood Shadow ~Credit for Avatar and Banner goes to NickonAquaMagna~

Thanks for making this, especially the Kanohi one! -NotSI know, right?? I didn't even have two of them (the playset minifigs ones) included until just yesterday. Somehow completely missed them when first I made the list. Why are the helmet/mask/faceplates of Hydraxon and Maxilos missing? I would imagine those could still be part of the list, as they function the same way in sets. Or is it just because they aren't "Kanohi?"I have most definitely considered adding them, but feedback from the past two days elsewhere led me not to. And it is just because they aren't "Kanohi." Of course, they're also the same ones who requested adding the Hordika "masks" despite me not thinking they should count. So clearly opinions are pretty divided on this... But one of the aims in posting these is to receive feedback. So enough people requesting those two be included and I probably would add them. I did a few minor changes last night to some images on the masks list. And I realized just now how silly it looks having the Hordika face to the right (like they were from their source) when everything else is forward or left, so a little bit later I'll be reflecting those. ~|ET|~ E-T... Ektris
And the minor updates have been made. Dorek
Using Hydraxon's mask might also involve acknowledging Hero Factory, since a black version exists of it. Same with the Glatorian helmets. BS01's Ambassador (Like us, Follow us)

There's also a blue version of the cendox/kaxium glatorian mask found in the HF "Drop Ship" set. @Electric Turahk: Sweet lists!! I personally count all of the glatorian helmets, Hordika masks and Hydraxon and Maxilos faceplates on my scribbled-up mask checklists, as well as the HF recolors of them. They just really seem to be in keeping with the style, if not the canon, of the normal Kanohi. This is really just personal preference though. On the other hand, my canon-OCD alter-ego has me scrounging for parts to make up a Karzahni head to go on my mask display... Mutated yes, but still technically the Kanohi Olisi... And I really did genuinely consider adding them, and the Hero Factory inclusion wouldn't have been so bad. But they aren't really masks, so... ---- So thanks to Torsti and the amazing BIONICLE Style Guide, we now have access to some very high quality and backgroundless images of characters that I don't think we've ever had access to before. The first few years of the Sets checklist all use the background images because of consistency with each other, but of course those got dropped after a few years. So that consitency ended. Anyone think it would be worth the trouble of updating all of the images possible with the cleaner ones? It might mean some inconsistency within a given year, though, and of course a lot of updating for anyone using the lists too... ~|ET|~ E-T... Phone home. "He walks among us, but he is not one of us." takanuva1988
I agree, a separate checklist for combiners/alt models would be sa-weet! But probably would be a lot of work too... Just wanted to note, you're missing the tan kanoka, plain glow-in-the-dark kanoka and plain black kanoka on the kanoka checklist. And it looks like you have the Gunmetal Gray Kraahkan on there, but I'm just curious: where do you draw the line on rare prototypes/one-of-a-kind masks on your lists? If you have GG Kraahkan, why not the alternate gold colored Avohkii prototype, pink Strakk helmet, marbled blue/white miru etc. etc? Anyway, these are all much more comprehensive and a HUGE improvement on the multitude of mediocre checklists we had back around 2004. Anyway, these are all much more comprehensive and a HUGE improvement on the multitude of mediocre checklists we had back around 2004.I will never count the tan Kanoka. It is not a Kanoka. It is simply a leftover unprinted dsk from the Slizer/Throwbot days in which there were tan disks, and just so happened to be discovered years later. I'm also not familiar with the plain black one, but it is likely the same. Nor do I know the plain glow-in-the-dark one, but... Yeah, that sounds like it could be a Kanoka prototype unprinted variant of the SDCC one. The gunmetal gray Kraahkan is not there, as it is a prototype and I do not wish to include them. The two black variants are the six holed one from 2003's Makuta set and the four holed one from 2008's Icarax. The line is a tricky one, to be sure. When this was first made, I chose to go with what were regarded as misprints at the time (and this was one of my first, so it's been quite a while since I checked what's now regarded as a prototype or misprint). The Noble Matatus and Rurus (red and black excluded), as well as sky blue and yellow Kaukau, are not limited to single copies. They seem perfectly qualified as misprints to me and should be there. Before posting these updated ones, I actually considered removing the brown Noble Komau, dark red Noble Huna, dark blue Noble Matatu, and white Noble Huna. Their seemingly one-of-a-kind nature definitely screams "prototype" to me, and as I said, I do not feel it is appropriate to include those. But the feedback I received was to leave them on, so I did. I am more than open to cutting them if there's a stronger feeling here that they shouldn't be counted. ~|ET|~ E-T... Phone home. "He walks among us, but he is not one of us." Toa Lhikan Hordika
Awesome job with these ET! Referring to your latest post, is there any chance you'd include the black Kanoka in the Kanoka checklist or would you not count that one for the same reasons you won't count the tan one? And the GITD Kanoka are somewhat common. I've got a handful of them, actually. Looking forward to the full Kanohi list as well. I'm trying to figure out though, what are the 11 blank spaces for in it? I know that 6 of them are for the Protector's masks. How many Skull spider variations are there? And is the blank spot next to the clear Hau for the trans-orange one? -

Dorek
Oh, something that came to mind: the "gold Kraahkan" actually came in both variations of gold, due to the color switch in the production cycle. takanuva1988
Nice to see so much thought went into these . Your logic on the black and tan kanoka and prototypes is sound. And my mistake, the 2nd Kraahkan looked like gunmetal, but 4 hole vs 6 hole makes more sense. I agree with leaving out the one-of-a-kind protos, and I absolutely agree that the brown komau/ white & metru red hunas/ metro blue matatu seemed to straddle the line. They are definitely not one-of-a-kind, but pretty close to it. @Dorek: Good point! If you look closely at the checklist, both gold variations of the Kraahkan are included One more question: the last Avohkii on the line next to the corrupt/dark avohkii... is that meant to be the 2010 slightly-different shade of the silver avohkii? Because if you consider those to be different masks, there are alternate pearl-light-grey / flat silver versions of a number of different masks. For example, I have 2 Kanohi Rode with exactly the same difference in shade. Splitting hairs... Edited October 18, 2014 by takanuva1988 1 Looking for VMKK, GPKK, SSKK, and a gold Kanoka. It wasn't that easy to find a picture that would clearly convey the difference, since there's only a stock photo for one of them and the light had to hit the angle and lighting had to be juuust right to show only four holes... and I didn't have access to my collection at the time... But methinks the rightmost one does a good job for the four holes. The leftmost six hole one is indeed not as easy to notice. You are the first person to ever bring that up, I think. The 2010 Stars Takanuva is not a set I own, so I was never able to compare the two directly. I believe I went off of Bricklink for that one, which does label them as different colors (though I recognize it's not a perfect source...). Volitak_Boxor
I would be interested in a combiner checklist, too. Is there even a comprehensive list of Bionicle combiners anywhere out there online? I guess there's the pull-down menu in the set database, but that's not very user-friendly, and I think it's missing a few models. A list arranged by year would be nice. I know some pretty obscure combiners came to light in the discussion in the Japanese Bohrok combiner topic a few days ago. Also, on a related note, do models like the Ranama and Kirikori Nui count as combiners? Official instructions were released, but they take a lot of Throwbot parts, Kanohi in alternate colors (like a red Pakari, for example), and other parts that aren't found in any Bionicle sets. I think those were the only two models like that, but I'm not 100% sure. ^ Often lurking, occasionally writing about sets on BS01. But I decided: Why pretend to betray them when actually doing it would be so much more fun?"— Vezon to Tridax, Destiny War

I meant as far as the colors of the mask's are concerned Umm, going through one-by-one, then... Red Mask of Fire: Check Yellow-green Skull Spider: Check (No picture in checklist yet though) Blue Mask of Water: Check Gold Mask of Water: Check Brown Mask of Stone: Check Green Mask of Jungle: Check White Mask of Ice: Check Gold Mask of Stone: Check Gold Mask of Ice: Check Silver Skull Spider: Check (No picture in checklist yet though) Gold Mask of Fire: Check Solid gold Mask of Creation: Check Solid gold Mask of Ice: Check Solid gold Mask of Water: Check Sooo... yeah. I'm still a little confused by what colors you mean. ---- A new picture by DV in his blog show quite a few more transparent orange/red Masks of Fire than I was thinking there would be. Very curious now and am definitely inclined to add them to the checklist as a result. ~|ET|~ E-T... Phone home. "He walks among us, but he is not one of us." I was saying that this could imply that every mask might be available in every different color, but my question about this is that were they exclusive to the Lego store free build session or should we plan to see these different colored masks as collectibles in the future?
