Soran
Howdy, Soran here. I got bored and decided to upload these in case anyone hasn't seen them yet. These are backgrounds from my comic series, "The Road to Home" which specifically follows the setting of the BIONICLE universe. The backgrounds featured are from the western shore of the Northern Continent. People tend to favor MNOG-esque things, so I figured some people might enjoy these. The backgrounds were designed to be similar to the art style used in MNOG. I of course changed a few factors (mainly the water, I went with a more "realistic" looking style) but I think they still are similar enough to count. Anyway, here are the pictures. Northern Continent: Western Shores Link 1 Link 2 Larger Version Link Link 3 Link 4 Perhaps if I'm bored I'll add more as I make more backgrounds. Edit: I was bored. Added the inside of the shop. This one is different than the one that appears in my comic. It's shown during the day and all pixelated elements were replaced with actual drawn objects. Comments and Critiques are appreciated as always. Anyway, enjoy. ~Soran Edited May 1, 2016 by Soran
Toa Imrukii
Hmm... The Northern Continent. Very interesting choice of Location. -Windrider-
The only critique I could offer would be with the mountains in the far background of the third image; their relative simplicity seems to clash with the rest of the background and the foreground. However, let me say that you've certainly proven yourself to be an amazing comic artist here on BZPower, and these isolated backgrounds provide some stunning evidence.
Soran
Hmm... The Northern Continent. Very interesting choice of Location. I thought so too. Given how the setting is dependent on the readers, the decision was mainly either going to be the Northern Continent, Southern, or someplace out east. I would say that that's fair. I remember when I was making that background that I was a little annoyed at how simple the mountains looked in contrast. That was one of the decisions that I decided to just stick with the MNOG style instead of go with my own decision (which would've been adding a more detailed mountain with actual shading). This is is evident in these MNOG screenshots. Thank you, they've been fun to make so far. It really has given me the opportunity to work on how certain objects are created such as the closer cliffside in the 3rd background, the different waves in each background and the clouds in each background. So, thanks! Thanks for the feedback, ~Soran
Kopekemaster
Really like the first two in particular. Do you think you could post higher definition versions? I think I'd like to set one of them as the desktop background on my computer. Quote My Writing Blog (more writing coming soon!) Those are actually the highest resolution I have of them, they're the size of the panels I use for my comic. I could potentially redraw it in a larger resolution, which one is your favorite? ~Soran

I'll still enjoy it if you do, though. Quote My Writing Blog (more writing coming soon!) rednas3636
Awesome but i'm wondering is there wood in the MU? Quote TheSkeletonMan939, Twister92, SPIRIT and Gatanui are awesome for uploading soundtracks and games and stuff.
bionicleFanatic
Awesome but i'm wondering is there wood in the MU? There was in Karda Nui (I specifically remember some Av-Matoran putting up a wooden hut in comic), so I assume there was protodermis-based wood in the rest of the robot. Soran
Update: Link Added another background. This time it's the inside of the shop. It's different than how it appears in the comic. For one, this one is during the day time, and it features drawn elements for sale instead of the pixelated elements in the comic. I quite like this background. I think I did a pretty good job with the limited colors I used. Also, is there a way to turn this topic into one that isn't shut down? Like a continuous project, because that's what this is. Really like the first two in particular. Do you think you could post higher definition versions? I think I'd like to set one of them as the desktop background on my computer. Glad you like it. I'll still enjoy it if you do, though. Would you like it expanded or enlarged? Also have you got an idea of the dimensions of your screen? If not then is it wide screen or regular? I'll see what I can do. Awesome but i'm wondering is there wood in the MU? I assume there is. There's ports throughout the Matoran universe and most ports are made of wood. The huts in Karda-nui were made of a wood-type substance. Also Voya-nui which ascended from the Southern Continent had forests in it, and based off of pictures we saw of the Southern Continent it looked as if it had forests as well. Awesome but i'm wondering is there wood in the MU?There was in Karda Nui (I specifically remember some Av-Matoran putting up a wooden hut in comic), so I assume there was protodermis-based wood in the rest of the robot. Bingo. Hope you guys enjoy, ~Soran

Soran
Y'know, could you please be my background designer, I am terrible at making backgrounds. As interesting as it sounds, I'm in no position to do that. I don't have enough time to devote to making backgrounds, which is also the reason as to why I'm currently not working on the comic series that these backgrounds belong to. Depending on the complexity of the background some can take up to several hours to make. That aside, this is still an extremely tiny fraction of the continent, barely of any significance. If you're planning a project that truly features the Northern Continent then I'm not expecting to make 5, 6, or even 10 backgrounds. It'd be closer to 100s, which as I said before, I don't have to time to do. So I'm sorry, I will have to decline your offer. Hopefully you understand. ~Soran
Legodudelol
I am using them for a game that takes place a few thousand years after Mata Nui fixed Spherus Magna. So, in other words, I understand, thanks for letting me use your backgrounds anyways. Sumiki
Some nice stuff you've got here! Glad to see something about the Northern Continent, since it often gets looked over in favor of more known places in the MU.(sorry I accidentally closed this earlier) Edited September 4, 2016 by Sumiki Quote avatar by Lady Kopaka
