I just received the following email:

TL;DR:

  • Brickshelf and Majhost are back online, with all essential features re-enabled!
  • New updates are being made to the sites regularly — you can keep up with the latest news through our official Discord server.
  • You can support the continued development and upkeep of both sites through our official Patreon.

Hey gang! I’m James (the Wall of History guy). It’s been about one year since the Wall of History team — now Chronicler’s Company — relaunched Brickshelf, the largest (and oldest) LEGO® showcase on the web. Since then, all the site’s essential features (such as account creation and recovery, folder creation, and file upload and deletion) have been re-enabled. What a year it’s been!

Brickshelf, built by Kevin Loch, was ahead of its time in a lot of ways. The site started hosting member galleries in 2000, in the era when almost all webpages were just static text. Since then, Brickshelf has grown to over 120,000 users, sharing almost 5,000,000 images.

In early 2025, Kevin’s brother made the tragic announcement that Kevin had passed away a few months prior, and that he was putting Brickshelf (along with Kevin’s other web properties) up for sale. Several offers were made, but Wall of History was chosen for our promise to keep the site online and functional, and ensure that Kevin’s legacy continued.

Since the site was relaunched in May of 2025 (with Majhost, it’s non-LEGO® sister site, also coming back online in April of this year), all the operating costs have come out of my own pocket. Historically, Brickshelf was supported largely by ads, with Kevin offering multiple donor tiers for those who wanted ads taken off their own gallery pages. For the sake of our user experience, Wall of History has decided not to host any ads on Brickshelf — but that does mean the (pretty substantial) operating costs are coming entirely out of my own pocket, with no straightforward alternative.

Because of this, I’m launching the official Chronicler’s Company Patreon, the goal of which is to make Brickshelf and Majhost self-sustaining (and reward those who help make that possible). There are seven tiers of support, reflecting the seven tiers Kevin himself offered (even approximating the same yearly price). And, since Brickshelf is already completely ad-free, Patreon supporters will get a whole lot of other stuff instead! All supporters will be given a snazzy role in our official Discord server, and starting at our $3/month tier, you’ll get additional perks like early access to new features and shout-outs on the Brickshelf website.

To be as clear as I can, Brickshelf will stay online regardless of how many supporters we do (or don’t) get on Patreon — but any amount of support would be greatly appreciated, and go towards making Brickshelf better and better! We’ve got a lot in store for you, and we hope you’ll be a part of this continuing legacy. Regardless of whether or not you support us on Patreon, we’d love for you to join us in our official Discord server, where updates related to Brickshelf and Majhost are announced.

Thanks for your time!

— James

Figured I'd make a post about this, since Brickshelf/Maj were a big part of BZP back in the day, and it's nice to have them back. If possible, please support the sites on Patreon.

Sorry if this has already been reported; I don't recall seeing anything about this.

(why is the edit feature so broken)

Maj and Majhost were huge. It's a comforting but slightly eerie feeling being reminded of stuff like this. When I was younger I would spent all day at school just waiting to get home and work on MOCs to upload, fanfics to write, etc. So much of it is gone now and even though it's just lego stuff from within my own lifetime it feels like doing archaeology of my own memories sometimes

Are old accounts gone? I haven't really looked around. I can't even remember my old usernames.

Yes!! Someone on BZP discord brought it up a few weeks ago. My family’s majhost one exists via member search, but nothing’s left on it ( I don’t know how to check way back machine ).

On some level, there is relief that my youngling-creations were unintentionally classified in the crash. However, a bit sad as per I’ve lost this era of artworks and photos forever, given an unplanned DVPO move four yrs ago. 🥀

Old accounts are still there, but none of the content on them is. Dunno if there are plans or even the possibility that any of it can be restored.

Accounts are still there, but no content. My account was made February 18, 2008, which is a weird thing to be reminded of. I can only imagine what kind of subpar MOCs once graced that page
