Brickeens Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 As Displayed at Brickfair 2011.I had given up and scrapped this MOC back in April due to problems in the WIP stages, but I miraculously managed to fix them and the MOC made it to Brickfair. Hope you all enjoy. Quote
PooZy Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Looks cool! Very neat and tidy - how pose able are the arms? In any case it's well put together, very organic like as if it isn't even lego o_0 Quote
Fighty Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Good idea and very beautifully executed. The design is sleek and consistent. It looks so simple at first but as I scrutinize it further I begin to see all the little details that you've worked into it. Extremely well done. Quote
Fsnorglepuff Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Wow, the perfect blend of organic and mechanical (and system and HF and Bionicle). Splendid work. Quote Toa Gali Nuva
Aedai Rivin Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I like the use of the Armor plates for feet/toes. Very cool looking. Rivin Quote Signature Guidelines: Avatar and signature total file size may not exceed 100 KB!
Sumiki Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Silly Bwicky. Everyone knows this is called Crustacean Sumiks. It's just so aesthetically pleasing, especially in person. I only wish you were able to rectify the gap in the side, but it's minor. Quote avatar by Lady Kopaka
Paleo Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Great one again bricksI love the hip design, as well as the general "suit" feel to it.What's the connection inside the feet? (tentacle to armor) Quote Flickr
Dralcax Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Like all your MOCs, smooth, simple, and uncluttered. I especially like how you built the legs. Quote
Iggy Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Awesome! The tentacles are my favorite part! Quote Hi.
Zaxvo Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 (edited) Brickeens, I am always in awe of your models (and mad photography skills), because no matter when you built it or when I see it, the pieces always look like they were made of each other. You have this ridiculous talent of putting things together in a way that just gets them to flow very well, and this is no exception. The top is particularly good; I thought it was one seamless part and couldn't figure out where each piece ended at first. I think you should have some black feet popping out the bottom, something that looks just like the tentacles, to reinforce the idea that the gunmetal is armor.Out of curiosity, how does the bohrok plate stay on? Zarohum Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 (edited) When I first saw this, i couldn't even recognize pieces. It looked like one solid model. That, my friend, is awesome. 75 posts Edited October 16, 2011 by Zarohum Quote
Shadrahk Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I saw this on brickshelf during the downtime and wished I would've commented on it! It's pretty simple, but I love it. You've skillfully combined a sleek, heavy duty mechanical look with an organic, flowing structure. I can see how a WIP would've taken some effort with a build this simple (so many little things can go wrong), but you've made it look fantastic. -Shad Quote [brickshelf Gallery] [barock] [Makuta Kaishu vs. Takanuva] [The Burakku] [Halo: Tiny Co-op!]
Jimothy Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Very nice, I really like the name :PAlso I like how his head looks like a giant ufo, what piece is that? Grey Wind Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I've missed your MOCs Brickeens :u Great MOC though. I love the smooth, round feel to it, and it looks solid. Great legs too. I would like more discernable eyes, but apart from that it's great. Quote
JohannDakitsch Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Lovely. Nice shape and the weirdness make me like it even more. Good job! Quote The night is dark and full of terrors...
Based Goomy Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Nice use of the Hero Factory armor pieces. Maybe add an eye in the Inika Armor? Feet and tentacles also look fantastic. Good one! Quote Looking for a Voya Gold Kraahkan!
Alice Snek Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 This is, undoubtedly, one of the smoothest MOCs I've ever seen. The parts fit together nicely, and kudos to you for finding a use for those seemingly useless tentacle/spike bits. Uh, where is his head though? Quote All of life is a journey, and the journey is not about how high you climb or how far you walk. It is about what you learn on the way, and how you choose to use that knowledge.
Bacon! Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Brickeens! It's been a long time, eh? Anyway, this looks great! I love how you made the body look so solid and neat. It's also good how you stuck to a good color scheme, though it probably would look better with some kind of eye? A translucent system stud would probably look nice on the Inika thigh armor. Lastly, this looks more like an alien-type android than a "tentacly" creature to me. Quote Bacon...Need I say more?
Ehlekdude Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Wonderful! The arms and legs look really beautiful. The body is very nice, all the pieces fit perfectly! It's very smooth and I like the name. 10/10 Quote
Plague Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Awesome! Though the arms don't look that posable, I think the head is the best part of this MOC. I looks like he has a face! With a moustache! Foolery Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Very clean, very stylish. The colour scheme is nicely understated and the proportions are great. It can be awesome to make massive MOCs with complex colour schemes, but sometimes it's better to keep it simple and get as close to perfect as possible, and you've done a good job here.Although I agree with Bacon! that a translucent stud in the Inika armour would make a great eye, which seems to be lacking at the moment.KUTGW Quote If you think about it, one of the major themes of BIONICLE is people being mistaken. The Great Beings; the Turaga; all of the inhabitants of the MU who don't realize they are inside a robot; the list is endless. The whole story is about beings who don't know what they really are and have woven a complex myth-based culture in place of the truth. That was one of the things that always appealed to me about the story -- the idea that when there is an information void, intelligent beings naturally rush to fill it with whatever they HOPE is the truth. -GregF
Airoski Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Awsome looking little guy, nicely quirky but solidly built, the simplicity is great. Is there any tension in the arms? -Airoski Quote Airoski Productions
Taipu1 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Very elegant, but there's not much else I can say. The construction is all well hidden inside, and the outer parts at least give me no clue as I have no knowledge of HF parts. What bugs me about lego tentacles is they do precisely the opposite to the MOC as what real tentacles do. I imagine it's fairly inflexible and not all that posable. Quote - Taipu1.HighFly MatoranShowdownBZPRPG ProfilesHave you seen my Blog? I understand if you haven't
Ringoster Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Huh. It almost looks like some kind of work of art. Cool and nice use of armor parts! Quote
flameman Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 that's a nice combinaton between organic and mechanic looking part, really like it, great job Quote Brickshelf | Flickr | MOCpages
Brickeens Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 @PooZy: The tentacle arms are pretty restricted. They can't move much. @Paleo: The tentacles are connected to the lower legs using ball joints. @Zaxvo: Uh, I don't have mad photography skills. I'm actually happy with the boots as they are.The Bohrok plate is held on using minifig hands. If you look at the top of the plate you can see them poking out. @Jimothy: That's a Bohrok headplate put on backwards. @Airoski: Tension? @Taipu1: Yeah, the tentacles can't pose much, which is a real shame. Thanks so much for all the replies, chaps. Quote

Boots are a subjective thing, but the bohrok plate...I read your response and I could not believe it. That, good sir, is MOCing at its very best. Quote . {Z}
Brickeens Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 I'm pretty sure I'm not the first to attach the Bohrok plate to something via those holes. Quote
