Old sets go up in value?

Now that BIONICLE is returning in 2015 do you think the old sets will go higher up in value than they already are worth?

I personally think they will as new fans will realize there are older sets and want to buy some of them just for nostalgia

Yes.

Not only has it been a trend in past years, but now when it's coming back and when the old sets become even more rare, value will go up, while the people who have them will go down. Basic supply and demand laws really. :P

Most complete (all six and opened) range from £35 - 60.

Ones with boxes go from £20 - 80.

Ones without boxes go from £10 - 40.

Unopened ones go from £60 - 200.

So, unfortunately, it will go up in price, seeing as I got all six Toa Nuva for £10 in late December 2010, and they are now worth £45.

Sorry bud.

Although, now would be the best time to buy them before the release, because news is only just reaching the ears of eBay from what I can see.

im trying to get a sealed vezon now i have a good excuse to get one early before Christmas

Nice how much does he generally go for?

I'm looking at one on Amazon UK for £150 new and £86 used... which is baffling because there's also a Nui-Jaga set for £55 new.

haha wow, yeah I've seen the Nui Jaga set is generally the cheapest of the 2001 Rahi.

But Vezon and Fenrakk is a great set I must say, so you do get your money worth out of it haha

Huh, I have an unopened Baranus V7 set lying around. How much could I sell for it, I wonder ...

I have seen that set is actually worth more than an unopened Thonatus V9, the Baranus goes for over $100 on Ebay whereas the Thornatus only goes for $100 or under.

How much was it worth back when it was released, anyway?

I believe off the top of my head the Baranus cost around $50 and the Thornatus was around $80

Thankfuly my birthday is coking up soon (October 7th *_*), and I asked for money (and comic con tickets XD), so I might be able to buy some of the sets before they go through the roof. Hopefully. And if my dad also agrees to it, although he says I have too many of them. (I have about 30?).

Definitely.

For a long time, Bionicle wasn't exactly considered the most popular Lego franchise after it discontinued, though now that it's coming back in 2015, it's likely that it'll get back up there in popularity. Not only will it fork in new fans with it's science-fiction/mythological story, but it will also fork in old fans like me who are too nostalgic to not pay attention.

This will also cause old fans to maybe tend to their nostalgia a little bit more by collecting some of the older sets, hence hightening the prices.

The newer fans will also become curious when the find out that there were old Bionicle sets in the first place, and will likely want to collect those as well as the old sets.

In case anyone's interested, Amazon has quite a few unopened sets available: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Dtoys-and-games&field-keywords=bionicle&sprefix=bionicl%2Ctoys-and-games

Although, as you can see, the prices are pretty high. But if you opt to just wishlist someting and keep an eye on it, there's a chance someone will bring in one at a lower price.

That's what happened with Takanuva for me. He's been sitting at 120 USD at the lowest for the past few years, but yesterday I found someone selling a new one for just 80, so I snagged it right then. :D

So it comes down to how lucky you are and/or how much of a gamble you want to take with waiting.
