  1. Now this is great news to wake up to (a day late, but still), haha! It makes me so ridiculously happy to hear that Nathan Furst still cares about the Bionicle community and that he's released a fresh cover of the MoL theme. So much nostalgia! ;w; If there's anything that would never lose its perfection about the original 3 movies, it's the wonderful soundtrack. <3 Fingers crossed he also releases something for LoMN.
  2. I just want to reach through my screen, hug him tight, and never let him go! Also, he is Takua to me until proven otherwise, heheh.
  3. Wow!!! Those MOCs are amazing!!!! Congrazzles to Roa McToa! Akutahn is very stunning and looks like he just walked out of Bionicle universe. Those have got to be the best wings I've ever seen on any set, MOC or otherwise. And not just that either; I love the amount of detail on his armor and especially his mask. I can definitely see this guy ominously flying overhead. Best of luck to you in the final round! I'm sure you'll do great! And congrazzles too to VampireBohrok! Helsephyr is just beautifully creepy. And that photography is just perfect! The lighting and the setting really bring out the spooky little details and add just the right amount of emphasis on his features to give off that shadowy, dangerous atmosphere. I'm not kidding when I say that I almost thought the photo was a 3D rendering at first glance; it was so nicely done and set so beautifully built. I swear, it looks like he just emerged from a shadowy portal from the Bionicle world to ours. o.0
  4. Oh my, I hadn't realized how much I missed Bionicle commercials until I watched this! I'm so happy to see such an epic return. :'D I agree the lasers give an out-of-place Star Wars vibe, but meh, this isn't the first time there's a non-canon odd detail in a commercial.
  5. Just feel like pointing out that there are real life masks with mouths that move with the wearers jaw, which is why I don't get what people have against the movie masks. Besides, the books and serials have described the (masked) characters doing things that can only be done with a mouth and/or are only visible if you have a mouth. Back on the topic of magnetic hands, it actually makes sense for all MU inhabitants to have weak natural magnetism. Considering the fact that they have smooth metallic palms as shown in the canon movie depictions, they would have to because completely smooth surfaces don't grip things very well (hence why we have countless grooves and folds on our palms).
  6. It didn't work for me either this morning on both Safari and Firefox, but after a few minutes it started working again so don't know what's going on.
  7. I really liked the Miramax movies's rendition so I tend to visualize them based on that. Obviously, I had to adjust for species/peoples not in the movie (i.e Skakdi, Barraki, etc.), but I basically just took their set forms and fleshed them out a bit a organic muscle like in the movies in any exposed area. With the Spherus Magnans, I disregard TLR entirely (because COME ON! even the Matoran in the beginning look more organic than they do!) and imagine them looking like regular organic sci-fi alien humanoids. I remember a few fanart back in 2009 slightly adjusting the faces to have a somewhat reptilian look, and even a full-body of an Agori without armor. But admittedly sometimes I get lazy and just think of them as sets with a more fleshed out look.
  8. I'm going to guess bioniclestory.com could be where the web series will air (maybe in addition to the serials)?
  9. I use my mutation rotuka and turn you into a blobfish My mask.
  10. ^This. Though if I had to pick the worst of the bunch: Keetongu, Karzahni, The Chronicler's Company post, the 2008 Makuta, and the Av-Matoran (namely Solek). The first 4 are already covered by others here, so I'm just gonna gripe about how little development the Av-Matoran got compared to Matoran from previous years. I know it might be a bit petty, but I'm especially sour about the fact that Solek talking about being best friends with Takua and asking Kopaka his whereabouts never went anywhere and he was just in the background even after Taka finally was with him and the others. Gosh, with how happy and relieved he is to hear his best friend is alive, I was completely expecting at least a brief reunion scene with Solek being so happy to see his old friend as a Toa. But nope! He doesn't do anything at all besides trailing behind Taka looking for Shadow Matoran to cure. And when Radiak insulted Takanuva? Tanma was the one who spoke up. Not Solek. Not the supposed best friend. Good grief! I can understand a reunion scene being tricky to work into the space allotted for the books, but why not at least use this opportunity to show the old friendship in two words??? Ugh, that one bit of background may as well not have been included at all. Sorry for the rant; just something that's been bothering me since 2008. ^^;
  11. I've seen a few MBTI personality things done for a couple other fandoms I'm in, so I am happy to see someone doing this for Bionicle. And it seems pretty well matched from what I can tell! Anyways, I am very pleased to see that my type (ENFJ) matches up perfectly with Water. I have always felt most connected to that despite also being in love with Light and Plant Life. Wait a minute! INFPs and ISFPs are considered the "natural partners" of ENFJs!!! Maybe that's why I'm so smitten with Taka (and made a plant life Toa character I'm fond of years ago) and why he connects so well with Gali! Okay, it's probably just a weird coincidence, but it does make you wonder!
  12. I thought that face looked familiar! XD Anyways, these are all so adorable! I love how the expressions are conveyed entirely through the eyes, and just really want to hug Tahu right now.
  13. A few days late, but Happy Anniversary LoMN!!! I'm definitely had my favorite art style and easily the best story out of all the movies. I love how the characters had an almost translucent over tone as well as the beautifully emotional orchestral track. Also, Vakama has possibly the most pleasant lilting voice I've ever heard. <3
  14. Your adorableness causes me to bear hug you till your brains pop out. My mask. >;]
  15. Now that I think of it, Kiina's build looks a lot like mine. o_O Well, the torso proportions anyway, but eh. To be honest, I don't know how much I care about female set builds apart from more variation. Streamlined slender builds like the ones in the Miramax movies certainly are appealing, but there are also plenty of nice designs to could be made based on other body types. I personally think buff ladies look pretty cool, and we could do with more stocky female builds in popular media. As for how feminine Gali 2015 is: I think arguing about this is like arguing over what a Rorshach inkblot looks like; it's pretty subjective. I feel like if I didn't know Gali was female (or really anything about Bionicle), I am just as likely to assume she's supposed to be a guy. :\
  16. Oh man, Bionicle holds many special memories for me. Way back in 2001, when I was an innocent little 3rd grader, I saw some boys in one area of the spacious playground of my school playing with these cool-looking toys that look kinda like humanoid versions of my Roboriders with masks that get knocked off in sparring matches. I was intrigued, and after some talking with the head honcho of the ragtag band of Toa kids (who happened to be a classmate of mine, who even carried around a Tahu with a gold mask!), I became acquainted with the world of Bionicle, where Toa collect Masks of Power to fight Makuta and his evil Rahi (who all the 5th graders somehow ended up playing as and antagonize the Toa team). My first ever Bionicle set was Mctoran Matoro, and while I didn't join in the sparring (some kids with Mctoran also did that along with the Toa kids), I had a good time running around hanging with Team Toa (which I just made up for the purpose of the story, heheh). And since I got a Mctoran, I also got the promo comic that goes with those happy meals along with some info on the Tohunga (as they were known then). It was from there that I started to get the sense of something wonderful from the story. Also, lil 7-year-old me was thrilled to learn that there are girl characters in the story and so really wanted the girl sets at the time. I had rotten luck with getting Macku (I got Matoro both times, and then lost both of them, grr...), but my priority changed to Gali after Tahu Kid - which is what I shall call the leader guy who introduced me to this series since he's very fond of Tahu, having all sorts of masks for his ever-present Tahu including both an infected and a gold Hau - told me that she's a girl. I can't remember if I actually did get Gali first or if I was given Pohatu by mistake the first time. I think it was the latter, but either way, I always had Gali with me at recess once I had her. She was like a sister to me growing up to be honest. And that was how my third grade was; just me frequently hovering around the Toa boys, watching them spar as they prepare to fight the 5th grade Rahi. I would later add a Tahu and 2 Bohroks to my small collection, though I had no one else to enjoy them with by that point since I had moved to another state. But I didn't mind too much, especially since I already had a good idea of the story as far as things went thanks to a story manual I got from the Bionicle trading card game. I do regret not getting a Toa Nuva when I had the chance though. I had all of them in sight and was really psyched for Gali Nuva, but for whatever reason, I didn't get her. Then Mask of Light came out and I fell in love with Takanuva as soon as he appeared in the movie. Unfortunately, by the time I saw it, the Taka sets were all gone and 8-year-old me was so stubborn then that she refused any other set. It wouldn't be until last month that this old childhood regret was finally rectified. Although, I still wish I had at least gotten Kopaka Nuva when I had the chance (he was the last Nuva set on the shelf then and I was still stuck in my Taka or Gali or nothing mindset). Then I managed to convince myself Bionicle was over because Mata Nui had awakened (I didn't know until years later he did not in MoL). I saw LoMN in a commercial and on shelves and turned my nose up. Because I was just stubborn like that, ugh. I did not like the idea of Toa besides the Nuva and Taka, and I thought things were starting over with the Turaga as Toa. And I stayed stubbornly away until late 2006. It was on a trip to Waldenbooks (gosh, I miss that store so much! >.<) where I saw a LOT of Bionicle books on the shelves. Somehow I finally got intrigued about the Bionicle story again despite being turned off by the Piraka earlier in the year (for some reason I thought they were the new Toa and was mad about how ugly and evil looking they are). Might have been the Inika, but then I was kinda annoyed by their design initially as well. Actually, it might have hust been I had seen ads for WoS with the Toa Hordika (and I am such a huge sucker for werebeast changes, heh) and started with reading the WoS books. From there, my old love came creeping back on in, and I quickly picked up the books from the 2005 portion of the story. Before long, I've soaked everything in and finally found the 2006 books irresistable and started reading them as well. And from there my love of Bionicle became a truly permanent part of me. I really came to appreciate the complexity of the story and the amount of character development happening at the time. As a result, I became a very ardent collector of many sets who followed the books and serials religiously. Mr. Farshtey's writing style became the starting model for my own (though it has evolved over the past few years). Even so, I'll admit to drifting away a bit interest-wise during these past four years of Bionicle's end. However, I always had a very fond regard for it and would still occasionally revisit parts of the story. So not surprisingly, as soon as I learned that Bionicle is coming back in 2015, I was overjoyed. And my joy only grew with each piece of information revealed. I was thrilled to see the amount of thought and heart put into this revival, and how big a deal this return is. While some things look a little iffy to me (namely certain aspects of the bios), overall I am very pleased with how things are turning out so far. I know I'm definitely gonna try grabbing as many sets as I can. Based on how much effort was put into this reboot, I am confident that the new story will be at least just as good as the old 2001 storyline. As for whether BZP will return to its former highly active state, considering the fact just the news of its return brought people like me back, I would say there's a good chance that the set and story release will do just that. But as with everything, we shall see.
  17. I feel so vindicated for all those times as a kid where I felt disappointed about Bionicle not showing up in mainstream press, and those times I feel like Bionicle has already been forgotten for its innovativeness and role in saving Lego. Now years later it’s on Fortune magazine. I’m so proud. ;w;
  18. *cough* It's Toon Boom, which is a different software and used by lots of big name companies like Disney and Warner Bros. As for animation, I think we have to actually see it in action before we can judge. I was iffy on the style too, but the stills shown so far look really nice and have a good Bionicle feel. But, again. we shall see.
  19. Am I the only one thinking that Takanuva's mask would fit in perfectly now?
  20. I'm guessing voice acting. Ninjago, Hero Factory, and Chima have all done that, and I doubt that they'll stick with a narrator for all of the cartoons. I think it'll come down to how long the shorts are and where they're showing them. Oh yeah, and while we're on the topic of animation, I feel like pointing out that going off the slides, those won't be Flash animations. They'll be done on ToonBoom, which is a completely different program that flows differently. Just a minor nitpick here, carry on! =P
  21. I am barely containing the sheer amount of fangirling happening inside. The quality and intricacies in the concept art are just blowing me away, though I do agree that the middle concept art for the Toa masks shown look better than the final products, but oh well. I was iffy on the animation style choice at first, but the further down the slides I got, the better they looked, especially the background art! 0w0 But they REALLY sold me at the MoL homage image with Tahu and the Protector. The story boards are the glorious icing on top of this delectable art cake. Well played, story team, WELL PLAYED!!! I wonder if there will be voice actors for this or if they're gonna stick with the silent route (with or without subtitles) past web animations and MNOG cutscenes had used? Regardless, I am just eagerly awaiting the release of both the sets and the mini-movies! The way things are going now with the amount of thought and dedication put into this, I have a pretty good feeling new Bionicle will be as great as old.
  22. Bionicle MMO would be wicked awesome, even if I wouldn't have time to commit to it, lol. I personally would like something along the lines of what the canceled Legends of Mata Nui would have been.
  23. Bionicle fan is still fine with me. We spent 13 years without one, what's another several? =P But names would be pretty cool, so if i had to pick, i like Chroniclers or Kohlii heads Though, as others have pointed out, Chronicler is an actual word that could cause confusion. Too bad "Bionicler" sounds weird in comparison. Kohlii heads is quite adorable honestly and goes well with what a bunch of little dorks we are with our obsession with plastic toys. Nuian is also a nice one (Sticking Mata in seems a little clunky to me). And if course, Bionifan is a nice fallback for on the spot snappy name.
  24. In case anyone's interested, Amazon has quite a few unopened sets available: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Dtoys-and-games&field-keywords=bionicle&sprefix=bionicl%2Ctoys-and-games Although, as you can see, the prices are pretty high. But if you opt to just wishlist someting and keep an eye on it, there's a chance someone will bring in one at a lower price. That's what happened with Takanuva for me. He's been sitting at 120 USD at the lowest for the past few years, but yesterday I found someone selling a new one for just 80, so I snagged it right then. So it comes down to how lucky you are and/or how much of a gamble you want to take with waiting.
  25. Wait, why are people so worried about old terminology getting thrown out? It's not like Lego had ever used those terms in general large-scale promo material. ANYWAYS! For me the worst thing that could possibly happen is: 1) Flimsy story, reboot or otherwise 2) Consistently poor designs 3) Any alterations that downgrade the storyline to HF-level of kiddish-ness or worse (the story was a good reason why I missed Bionicle and why HF never really pulled me in after all). 4) Having a writer that doesn't at least match Mr. Farshtey in writing ability (fingers crossed for better) 5) Not improving on the flaws of the old series 6) Not getting rid of the Red Star's reviving mechanism (as others have pointed out, it really cheapened the deaths of 99% of dead major characters >_>) 7) Not at least having a reference to Artakha Uh, I could go on, but I'll just leave these here as the worst offenders. The rest is mostly stuff that apply more for the entire run instead 2015 specifically (e.g. no Takanuva, Jaller, etc, but especially Taka).
