Popular Post Pomegranate
Now, look, I swear, I was in the official topic ready to paste my link right at 11:58 PM Eastern Time on the night of December 1st; I slaved away for days and days on this and I will not be defeated by weird timing nonsense So, clearly, I cut it pretty close, but it was worth it because it looks just the way I planned it Save for the photo, of course; my camera is being a nuisance so I'm definitely gonna take better photos soon in the daylight, so I can get the correct colors and get it angled properly; the centerpiece looks off axis the way it is now and some of the finer shadows and highlights are totally blow out by the vibrancy. But, woo! I got it done This was done with black (and some red, yellow, and white) India ink, and colored with watercolor pencils and watercolor paints, in a 13" x 23.5" frame. As you can see, for my BZPower attraction, I paid homage to various staples of the iconic Bionicle advertisements and promos of old: the main island and mask merged together; the force of good and the force of evil staring at eachother from opposite ends of the page; the landscape adorning the top of the backdrop. I wanted to really celebrate the reboot by showing off more than just the sets, so I tried to show some of the story, with the awesome shot of Ekimu knocking Makuta's new evil mask away, and the "shooting stars" that were teased for the upcoming animations, and obviously sticking all the good characters and bad characters together on their own sides, ready to clash. I was gonna stick a Vahi shape somewhere, but I really couldn't figure that one out with it looking cluttered and awkward. Pohatu's hand is on Kopaka's shoulder because they are best friends forever and no reboot can ever change that Click the image for a higher res version where you can look at details and stuff! (And here's the original lineart! Comparing them helps you see that the color photo is definitely a bit off, but also I think it's really nice as a lineart piece on its own!) EDIT: Finally took a new photo and color corrected it, added a watermark, replaced the image It looks right now I hope y'all like it! Edited December 6, 2014 by Pomegranate 27 Quote . Vezok's Friend
Holy cow, it's been a while since I've seen Bionicle art done with traditional mediums that attained this level of quality. Kudos. From the lineart to the watercolours, you've done some great work here. Love the lineup of the Toa on the bottom left, very reminiscent of the 2001 comics in a way while staying true to the 2015 style. Seriously well done!
Wazdakka
Very impressive - I cannot recall the last time someone pulled a stunt like this with watercolors on BZP. 1 Quote Steam Name: Toa Hahli Mahri. Torran
Superb level of detail, fantastic colours, good poses. Definitely brings on a nice case of nostalgia. I am astonished by the amount of detail you crammed into this piece. It feels like I'm looking at promotional art, real sets, and the animated series all at once. The different styles you pulled into each section of the painting is wonderful. The colours, my oh my, do I love that orangey sky over the mountains. Sunset, sunrise, whichever, it's beautiful. From the shading within each character to the balance of light and dark colours from left to right... wow. Only question is, with the masks on the sides, are they supposed to look as washed out as they do, or is that the lighting from outside the painting? Your placement of the characters is excellent, with the good and the bad on different sides. They look ready to clash, like you say, but I'm glad you didn't actually put them into action shots (for the most part), since that would clutter it up to an extreme. I enjoy your take on the city, as well; it looks almost Greek in the set up of a shrine/temple on the hill, walled main city, outer districts. Very nice. Also <3 Pohatu/Kopaka bffs. Lovely work! 1 Quote flickr - Brickshelf
Akavakaku
Absolutely amazing! Aanchir
This is absolutely breathtaking! I just found it on Tumblr (I don't have a Tumblr, but occasionally search "BIONICLE" or "Ninjago" there to see what people are saying about those two themes) and was absolutely blown away! I like it so much that I've made it my desktop background on my computer! 1 Quote Latest MOC: PAIGE (Prototype Artificial Intelligence, Gynoid Expression)

Jagovikk
This is magnificent! I have seen it circulating on Twitter and Tumblr before, so it is nice too see it posted here as well. Being a relatively artistic person myself (but no where near as good as you ) and from a family of artistically gifted people, I definitely can see and appreciate the time and effort that was put into this masterpiece. I love how you captured the new look and feel of the reboot while staying true to the old canon. This is by far one of the best BIONICLE fan-made pictures I have seen. Great work, and I hope you make more in the future! This is now my new wallpaper!!! toajomo
Fantastic! I love art in general, but especially Bionicle. And it is so rare to find Bionicle art that isn't an MS paint render of a Toa as an anime high schooler. And the detail! All the little things you've put into this, while retaining set accuracy and giving feeling and variety to it...all with watercolor. This is truly a masterpiece. 1 Quote If you use correct grammar in your posts (or try hard to), place this in your signature. Join Myst's campaign for correct grammar usage on BZPower! Moku
Wow, this is amazing! I love how a lot of the models are represented by their physical builds and are yet still presented as "alive". The addition of Ekimu knocking the MoUP off of Makuta is just icing on the cake, as is the Okoto/MoC in the middle. Well done!
