Onvermel Posted July 27, 2016 Share Posted July 27, 2016 I feel as a whole there is one thing the Bionicle community is missing and that is "Naming day". As far as I am aware there is no day that the community think should be naming day and I feel as the only matoran holiday we need to stamp one day in the year as "Naming day" so when it roles around we can all wish each other a happy naming day. I mean I love "Talk like a pirate day" it's so fun and I think something similar can be done with this lovely matoran holiday. Personally I think a series of poles should be done to determine in. One for the month once that one is done we do one for day of the chosen month. Thoughts? Onvermel 2 Quote "I believe in certainties. Sure, somebody could strategically change their display name on the day, but why base a whole day around it when there's only one or two people changing their names that day? I do think we should have something like this for sure. Unless we name the official birthday of BZPower "Naming Day," as it was the day that two websites came together under one name. But, we already have a whole month of celebration for that, so... Maybe not? The day G2 was announced was a day of rejoice for the Bionicle community. For the first time in so long Bionicle had come back and we had something to talk about, to be excited about! And I feel like that's something we should be looking for in a day to honor Bionicle, not just the day it was made but the anniversary of the day it was resurrected, something to make the holiday symbolic to all of us on that day. And I think calling it Naming Day is an awesome call back to G1 and relevant and specific to the community as a whole. And everyone doesn't have to change their names, it can just be a celebration of all that is and was Bionicle. The matoran gave gifts and such to each other on Naming Day, and I'm sure they only called it that because of the bohrok swarm. A neat idea would be that the community as a whole could get in touch with Greg or someone in charge of G2 and name something from canon? Not really sure how that would work and I'm sure that would rub a bunch of people the wrong way and cause controversy but it's just a fun little idea on the theme of naming. It would be only one thing, and usually something small, like a weapon or rahi or something. Maybe even Mata-Nui's uncle. Personally I think the day Gen 1's made it's first appearance in the Lego world would be nice one as well. Really It's kinda hard to say for sure what day would work. Name changes are relatively infrequent to the point that people can keep up with it. Mass name changes (like when the staff does something wild) work because it gets changed back after two weeks. Idk. I feel like the idea behind it is cool but people would really have to commit to make it really worthwhile. I think that narrows it down right there.I agree with this. Bionicle's launch day would be a great day for a 'Naming Day' to be held IMO. Though if we wanted to stick with Gen 2, since Gen 1 is over, I would be okay with the day of Gen 2's reveal being used for Naming Day as well.
