First Times Are Good Times

Yes, if you are working, for the first time, in an intensive office job.   There were a few rules that I had to learn and iron out into my schedule and attitude. Here are a few that I found most positive.   1) Never mind if the staff and people around you are apathetic and cold. They're scared of you. Really. They won't talk to you until you've passed The Second Week mark. How I discovered that? After two weeks did the guy who sat behind me in the office cubicle offer his tapioca chips to me,

Demolished.

It really is demolished.   Coming home from a church choir practice which I would no longer attend, my dad and I decided to see what had happened to our home.   It was gone.   In its place was this large bulldozer, and another behind it. The land that it was on was flat, showing that the rubble had been cleared.   It looked so odd... an empty hole where a house used to stand.   It looked so... sad. It was really gone, for good.   But out of the mess, something really pretty will come.   S

Office Zombie

Nothing gets to me worse than being an office zombie. Sure, I can think of worse things to bug me but being an office zombie bugs me.   Three of five days of the week were spent in an office, cold and chilly no thanks to the central air-conditioning system and monotonous in flow.   It's a fact that often, office job holders get a big lot of cash and their temporary staff too.   I decided to give it a go.   For the record, I've timed, in 3 days, a little more than 15 hours. They charge a good

Creeping In My Ears

Yeah, I've never heard the song for the Barraki mini-clip, being that I had never seen the clip before.   So when I heard that it was downloadble, I was loaded with curiosity, and downloaded it.     I wasn't exactly pleased with it. It was a rock song about darkness, but I think they tried too hard to make their point known. The lyrics were simple, but it led to cheesiness. *punch 1*   Music wise, I think I'll be able to ear-play this song real quick! No, not really. I won't really have the c

Post 100

I celebrated it with a full out luxurious Chinese meal, and loved it. Ooh... there was freshwater fish steamed with ginger (my fave!!!), salted chicken, drunken prawns, ee-fu noodles, scallop with vegetables, abalone and sea cucumber with more vegetables, and honeydew pudding with sago and pomelo.   It was in conjuction with my GPA score celebrations. Face it, as much as I would work on my school year, it may never get as high as that. May. I will strive for the best that I can do.     Anothe

Gone With The Wind

In total shock, my eyes grew at the sight before me.   My mother had a better reaction, though: She stepped out of the car and went to check it out.     I'm talking about my old home, the two-storeyed fortress that is probably half-shattered in rubble by now.   When we stopped the car outside the building, it was easy to see that some damage had been carried out before the diggers arrived. The garden was unrecognisable, littered with shattered glass and pieces of plaster and debris. The windo

Omgosh My Gpa!

I was absolutely nervous when my email alert bleeped. I had asked my semester results to be mailed to me, but I was worried that it may not have been a good choice for my poor senses.   But I shouldn't have worried.   GPA: 3.94.     I flipped.   4 As, and 4 Distinctions. I couldn't believe it. YAY!!!!!

Fashion Disaster

Laugh at me. Laugh!   Two days from working in a bank as a part time job (And under a japanese boss), and I find myself with two pairs of office pants (add a third if I can discreetly disguise it) but no work shirts.   And I just used up a good part of my savings today on a luxurious lunch of cream fettucine with mushrooms, italian soda and 2 wonderful dessert tapas - green tea ice cream and vanilla creme brulee, followed by a movie. (My good buddy burned her pocket with me, so I'm not going t

Thrill Me

It's the bloom of the thrillers, down here in the Library.   At least, it still flows along with the main-stay-plot of new Toa, new island, new enemies, but this new line of epics have shown lots of fight scenes, running from danger, and what makes it catching is the increase of drama and action in the story.   This I noticed in the ECC, and outside. Mind me for being the equal of a fash hag gossip column, I hate those magazines, but while many new writers put their bets in that plot to get t

Yippee!

My polytechnic form tutor just rang me up today, and he just made my day.   He informed me that he was ringing up students with a GPA of 3 and above for something special they were entitled to for their good grades.   There was a specialist diploma open for me to take, 2 years covered with 1K (which is VERY reasonable) and it would mean that I would graduate with two diplomas instead of one. The specialist diploma that's open to me is Creative Media Design. Maybe it'll teach me how to use Pho

Finally!

Something sensible came into mind. It's just a question, BZP-related, Library-related, but oh so interesting...     Do you notice that the number of reviews can never overtake the number of views, and reviews mean : 'People who viewed and had something good and sensible to say'?               Yes, I'm STILL bored. (It was so bad that I thought Tuesday was Monday.)

Nyeh-nyeh

I'm bored. And when I get bored, I have my own fare of fun.   The really bad kind where it comes out, apropros of nothing, and all in the sake of seeing your reaction.     Now, let's get get down to me becoming the shill of the quotidian affairs of the local people's lunches. Exotic lunches to you, but the local fare for me.   Yes, I'm grinning. Evilly? I don't know.   Today, my grandmother brought me to Chinatown to have lunch with her. She knew a restaurant that had cheap but great chicke

Another Cny Celebration!

Come this Saturday, the 7th day of the New Year, it's Everybody's Birthday!     No, seriously.     Chinese New Year comes with a few more days to celebrate than just the New Year's Day. There's also the Valentine's Day at the last day, there's tomorrow, there's... I believe there's a moon-related something too.   Then again, to celebrate all these days in serious fashion, one has to rewind time all the way back to the times before the big AD, before 100 BC, way way back. You'd be swamped to

Back With A Vengeance...?

CNY celebrations have come and passed for me, even if the Spring Festival lasts for 15 days. I have surprisingly not shown any visual sign of weight gain, and I've grown wealthier too. Red Packet Count exceeded last year's quota to a nice collection of 22 envelopes.   And the monetary quota I got... I'll put it as censored and aside before anyone decides to rob my chance of getting a Bionicle set or a good book... or my university degree.     Today, the school website released my theory grade

3...2...1...

*GONG!*   Happy Chinese New Year!     In advance. I want to get this in just in case I'm too busy on the actual day to greet you all.   It's the eve of the new year, and it's not just for people of my race to celebrate. If you guys still have any New Year Resolutions you couldn't make on January the First, make them on Sunday! It is, technically, a New Year too.   So, off I go to see if I can help in the last-minute preparations for my household and myself. I may disappear for a while too,

Mobility

Hello from one of the most popular malls on the island. Just did some new year shopping. Custom had it that every new year meant a new set of clothes. To blazes with whoever that made that rule. I nearly got mobbed!   I hope that 5 shirts, a pair of jeans and a jacket does the trick. I nearly blew my really big budget.   And may this go down in history: <dd> blogged and browsed BZP on her cellphone!   May I not blow my bill.

Happy Valentine's

I didn't do much today, except to counsel 2 young boys on how to get into my course. My lecturer stole the rest of the 'customers'.   No flowers, chocolates, hearts, nadda. But it fine.   I'm more hyped about Chinese New Year! I even got my blog ready for it!   I wonder if any of the members here can send me red packets online... heh, nevermind.   On another note, don't ask me how inspiration came, but a few nights ago I contemplated on the Toa Nuva. For some odd reason, Tahu Nuva was my

Week Of Festivity

Believe me when I say that I only remembered such a thing as 'Valentine's Day' existed as of yesterday.   That wasn't really on my mind. I have no relations that tie in with Valentine's Day, and the hearts and roses never really did interest me, and still don't at this point in time. I'm not saying that this is permanent, however.   Meanwhile, I'm more pumped up for Chinese New Year.   There's going to be some serious gorging to do, and money to collect. It's going to be the season of red -

Help Arrives

She stoned.   Head and crossed arms on the table, she stared at the screen, its glare glowing on her face and her dark surroundings.   Dull eyes kept looking at the words, but more so at the lack of words.   Where were they?   The topic's been sleeping for more than a week, nevermind that Curator was not present, and hasn't been, for the while.   She was getting busy, trying her best to slip in the reviews from her blank mind. But - where were the others?   That was a question worth mull

Sugar Pup

I really do mean that.   I found out today that Lucky has a sweet tooth. No wonder his teeth were going beyond gone!   I discovered this when I had a better look at his food bowl. I found grains of sugar all over his chicken.   He downed them all at an alarming rate.     It was a relief to see him back at his eating self after a spate of apathy towards eating, but this was the reason that contributed to his weight problem. He's now overweight.     Lucky, sugar puppy, if you weren't so 'dumb

What A Beautiful Language, English Is

What a strange situation to be in.   In front of me was a blank piece of paper. In my hand was a pen.   I was told to write on that piece of paper something to be submitted.     For at least ten years, I've been doing that without fail, in the form of essays and compositions for English.   And it was during the last four years of that ten that I started to love what I was doing. Prior to my major exam at the tenth year, I was writing freely written essays to let my teacher check on my progre

The Silent Eye

On my way home today, I encountered a most interesting, but heart-warming sight. There were four young students on the train, all with a caretaker, I believe. All of them were giggling and grinning, sometimes laughing a little. While their laughter was loud and rancorous, not a word was traded. They were sporting hearing aids, and their hands moved and articulated animatedly.   I finally understood.   One of them was suddenly distracted by something he saw. He stood up from his seat and da

New Surroundings

This was supposed to be a coherent blog post, I know, I know. The only reason why I can only rant right now instead of talk is because I crashed my head into the monkeybars when I jumped this morning at the park. It's a colossal headache now, am trying to fend off sleep.   When I woke up after my first overnight stay in the new home, I thought, 'Whoa.'   Why 'Whoa'? The room was so SMALL. In fact, it was safe to say that the new house we moved into was half the size of our original home. We mo

Farewell

As the wind drifts through the garden, Stroking the leaves and blades in tow They were waving at me, it seemed It was time for a farewell.   A place of familiarity, a place of warmth A place of solace on the swing in lamplight Quiet and privacy offered everyday From dawn to dusk, and back to daylight   It all would fade away And the family would have to move Abandon their home For a less greener pasture   But I know one day, New soil brings new blades The trees will leaf once more

Eye-opener

He poked his friend's leg and pointed at the girl at the back of the classroom, just nearby.   "<dd>'s wearing a skirt!"       I don't know if it's a trend to pick on girls that finally come to acknowledge their gender or something, but it seemed to be the case for me.     I was a jean-dresser, and still am. It was the fact that I had been poked at by several classmates of similar gender to wear a skirt for graduation day - which is still lightyears away - and one had particularly state
