18

In exactly 25 minutes from now, it would be the 18th anniversary of the day my mother landed herself with a pair of twins, namely my sister and me.   In other words, it'd be my 18th birthday.   I can't tell you how hyped I am, because I'm really hyped now!

Gathering The Gershwin...

...big book by big book.   Y'see, after my friend treated me for lunch as a birthday treat, I headed over to our country's arts-dedicated library for one sole reason.   *Pretend you didn't read the above first phrase*   The second 'Y'see' I have to tell you is that even though I'm in holidays for two weeks, there is no rest for the student laden with assignments.   And when one assignment requires you to research on a composer of choice - a classical composer of choice - and it was too diffi

Lourde Server

I'm not referring to the downtime that Bink accidentally created - and fixed.   I'm talking about attempts to blog for about... five times, and failing at all times.   The server kicked me out when I hit the button on all those occasions. Is it me, or does Lourde Server have a particular dislike to my intrusion on his ground?   If this gets on and published, then I'll grab my pen and start poking that Server on the shoulder.   It owes me some explanation.

Coming And Going

I took the train down to the airport to pick up my twin sis. She returned from a school literature trip in England - and I could not wait to hear what news she had to bring.   When she finally came down, she was one of the last few to collect her bags. The teachers gave a de-brief, and she was one of the first few who walked out of the arrival area.   You could imagine what she had to face when, after a long flight from Europe to Asia, she had to endure a heavy glomp from her not-so-light sist

Too Many Ideas

For someone who percolates as much as I do, maybe letting a blog sit and fallow for a long while would not be good for his/her mental well-being.   Putting it down straight, I've had too many ideas on what I wanted to blog about. I also partly blame the strange hours I've been returning home from polytechnic for the past week - evening/night time. I rarely do that - it's detrimental to my physical well-being - but it happened. My brain shorts out at night, and hence I feel hardly inclined to bl

Hey Hey You You... Oh No...

You know how painful it is when terrible, but addictively catchy, songs reverberate in your head incessantly, in repeat mode, not giving you peace or focus?   I put the blame on Avril Lavigne's decision to give The Music Industry (TMI) a run for its money - and its life. Her album, though seen by most of us as a change from 'That Rough and Tough Girl' to 'Tween Rocker' and a Hilary Duff with a dash of salt, is seen as me as a shoutout to the people who run TMI and those who gravitate to TMI. Sh

It Would've Been Enjoyable

I bet you face this more than I do, as the people in question are Caucasian. No, no racism. More of kids in general, but I'll explain later.   Went to watch PotC, and we got a row that was right in front of a row of little boys.   These were Caucasian boys, and before the show they were talking - at unnaturally high-pitched voices.   Don't get me wrong. All little boys squeak, sure, but as far as I've observed, those five behind me were the squeakiest I heard.   And they kept squeaking - ri

Photoshop Madness

When I step into deviantart, a bombload of pictures greet me. Nearly all of them have one thing in common.   They all have been processed through a high-end digital image renderer of some sort. It could've been Painter, or MS Paint (for dot-dot pics), or what I've just acquired - Photoshop.   My twin discovered my recent upgrade of personal technology gadgetz, and we went a little crazy with some slipshot work.   Pic 1   Then we found an old picture.   Pic 2   Then I plucked up a little co

Ss Blooming

Does anyone see that the Short Stories section of the Library is having a lot, and I mean a lot, of new short stories?   The poor Short Story critics would be in quite a fix, I tell you.   But that leaves the Epic section to go on with its curent stuff. Expected this is, for I long foretold of the short one-post stories gain support because of its one-post-edness.   But that means that now's a good time for those who are active in the Epics section to brush up on their writing skills! I know

Thar Be A Maraudin'

GAAH!   Just when I thought I could ask Omi a little earlier about pirate cosplay advice, my players landed the bomb on me: We were definitely going out in garb - tomorrow.   The Pirates of the Carribean Medley is going out in full force. Today was the sound practice and everyone got a nice shock to hear the Port Royale theme filtering through the speakers. There were cheers and hoots.   So, to keep things up, we decided to cosplay.   The closest character I resembled was Will Turner. Howeve

At The Speed Of... The Internet

When it comes to online learning, you get one very nice privilege: You get to do your assignments at your own pace.   This, of course, could do some nasty-bad in your side.   My classmates are taking the e-learning week, easily letting things slide and waiting for the big graduation performance (which is tomorrow) to subside before tackling painful university text.   I did what no one in his/her right mind ought to do.   I sped ahead - at whatever speed the Internet could provide.   In one

Top Student Syndrome

When you sit on the top seat, no one will let you get off it.   No, I'm not the top student. I'm not there. I'm a step away from there.   Yet I'm treated like one, while the real one gets away from this scott-free.     The only reason why I excelled over others was probably because I tried my dang hardest, while many of the rest 'shake-leg' and let things take its natural course.   And, as all people who believe in all things good, hard-work paid off.     But the isolation after that was..

Relations

I was thinking to myself a while back: Funny how many of the staff were, in ways, uncles/aunts/godfathers/don't know about godmothers...   And a few others who were not staff but were, in ways, uncles/aunts/godfathers...   Then I landed on the big question: How old are we?     All right, sorry to the staff but some of them are of proper age to be an uncle.   But I know that there are others who are around my age, and only a few years older for some.   And we're already someone's uncle/aunt

Curry Flavour

If you could guess, on a tiny island, anybody would know anybody.   I met with my parent's good old friend who orginated from UK, but now lived in US (Boston). But, he used to live in the country and he and my parents would have extreme eating sessions.   He liked curry fish head.   So did I.   So, when he finally returned to this country of office, my mother whisked him to eat one of his favourite dishes. Wouldn't you know it, I followed along to - to see if this friend of my mother's is wo

Of Makeovers And Fashion - What?

A good friend of Mum's was chosen for a makeover on this lady-talkshow - and timely on the same episode about fashion. Mum went, and I followed her.   I don't think I should've. I finally understood why people say that 'if you're in fashion, you're glamarous - or you're insane'.   It was something like the Tyra Banks Show - just with a smaller capacity of audience. The wonders of camera angles from six cameras made our thirty-odd audience look like the whole studio's entire capacity.   And an

Roach Saga

Act 1:   It started when I stepped out of the girls' bedroom last Friday. I had barely closed the door behind me when something tapped against my leg, and landed on a pile of boxes next to the door.   I had a better look at it - and jumped back in shock.   It was a cockroach.   I stepped back. My other sister, however, had a better reaction - she screamed and shut herself in the master bedroom.   I looked for something to kill that roach with, but before I could grab the letter knife the ro

A Glare, And Horror

I noticed something so funny about my... err, my eyes, and its effects on children if I give a light stare at them.   I think I was aware of this when I started high school, when Young Irritating Wailing Machines (YIWM if you may) lurked at the bus stop on the way home.   They whined, they screamed, they shrilled, and they, of course, wailed.   But if I gave them a look and they return that look, this most amusing face would be staring back at me.   I'm not evil, but watching the kid stare a

Sprachgefuhl

When my teacher asked me why a term after a series of 'and's was single instead of plural, I didn't know what to say.   When it came to English, I was bred to write by the feel of it. I felt the word being wrong or right, and then taking the necessary action to make it right.   But I wasn't able to find a word to say it. Of course, a third grader in elementary school would not be able to say such a word.   So, all I could tell was the teacher was: "I know it's right. I can feel it!"   But to

Oh No, It's May! Part 2

Part 2, ladies and gentlemen, and we are in full swing.   Rehearsals for the concert have begun, and we are in slick motion. The trio keyboard ensemble was created quickly and we headed off once the group was made.   The Pirates of the Carribean Medley has been composed on the spot - just a simple glue-in of Jack Sparrow, Davy Jones, and a few nice tidbits from the first movie. All in the name to promote the third installment that comes out two days after the concert and remind the graduates o

A Series Of Read-aloud Questions

Who does make shoes?   Adidas.   Who makes ice-cream?   Haagen Daz.   What did Sam do?   Samsung.   What does a man become when he's knighted?   Acer.   I know what to do when I grow up. I want to be a fisherman. Why? I want to be a Fisherman's Friend.     What did Taipu say when the Nui-Rama grabbed him?   Lego!!! (Say it fast.)     Why does Apple have a bitten apple as its logo? Microsoft took a bite out of it.   So, when Apple wants an idea, it takes a look out of a Window(s).

A Little Will-power

Credit a DJ for his hard work the next time you enter a club.   They have a hard job.   Joining the CCA just proved how hard it could get.   For at least three weeks in the course, I’ve been the under-performer from the DJ class. I could throw in the pitch on the dot, but pairing the same instrumental together was too tough for me. When I stood up and heard very few skips in the piece, my mind blanked out.   What was the difference? Was the edited piece faster, or slower? How do I change it?

Oh No, It's May!

I have good reason to panic.   You see, this is the month where a really big performance is going to happen. Our entire music course has been roped in to perform at the Graduation Concert - not a formal concert, but a background music crew as everyone eats cheap tidbits catered free to the participants and everyone takes photos of their classmates in graduation garb, yadda and dadda.   They forget what goes on behind the scenes.   Our cohort is the only cohort creating gigs for this performan

Golden Ring No. 33

Janus said it was some golden, or silver, bloggy, right?   It's very painful to say this, but after watching all my favourite blogs snatch up 'Blog of the Week' awards, I realised that probably Janus was probing my mind to see which favourite on my list would run away with the award.   Never expected it to be me, though.   Thanks to the other-blue-and-white-loving Janus for the award - (and the recognition that came with it! Naw.) - and giving me a heart attack after another tiring day at sc

Behind A Name

I realised how canny baby-naming can be - cannily accurate.   My sister's name meant 'Pretty and Graceful'. She's a dancer now, doing ballet and doing lead for her school. She's pretty.   My other sister's name meant 'Pretty Lotus'. The lotus is a symbol of wisdom. My sister scoring well at one of the hardest paths of the available education path. And she's pretty too.   My brother's name meant 'Scholar'. He's in a newly-founded high school of science and maths that would directly lead him to

Night Market Havoc

Many tourists come to my little home, and leave after seeing every single thing in the tourist map and being the least impressed, along with a nasty sunburn from wearing khaki shorts and Hawaiian-shirts.   They often miss out on one feature that we have and America doesn't have - a night market.   No, really. Of all markets, this is the oddest one of them all. The pasar malam (Go look up the Wiki.) is a special occurence. One just opened near my grandma's home - today being Saturday - so I pop
