Chapter 9: Desert of Sorrows

Cutscene: Atero

Onua squinted his eyes against the sun.

“I don't know how your Po-Matoran stand it,” he grunted. “It's so hot out here in the light!”

“Maybe that's because we're in a desert,” Pohatu chuckled. “Still, it's not Po-Wahi... that's for sure.”

“Hmm. Certainly not Po-Wahi,” Onua nodded, “for Po-Wahi was never strewn with ruins.”

“What?” Pohatu asked, following Onua's gaze. Indeed, at the Toa of Earth's feet rested a cracked stone structure, with writing engraved in it.

“That's no language that I know of, but I seem to be able to read it,” Onua continued. “It says, 'A'...'T'... 'E', 'R', 'O'. What's 'ATERO'?”

“Dunno,” Pohatu shrugged. “Let's look around... see if there are any clues.”

They searched for a few minutes, burning in the red-hot sun. Suddenly, Onua gave a cry of shock.

“What is it, brother?” Pohatu asked, running to Onua's side. The Toa of Earth was staring down at something thin and bleached-white. With a surge of nausea, Pohatu recognized it as a skeleton.

“What kind of a skeleton is this?” he asked. “The proportions are all wrong... it's not a Matoran, it's definitely shaped more like a Toa. Well, Lewa or Tahu, that is. But it's the wrong size... and it's got nostrils, like some sort of Rahi...”

“It's an alien,” Onua grunted. “That's the only solution. We're on another world, and we're in the middle of a dead desert.”

Pohatu looked around. Indeed, the air was stale, the sand too scratchy, and the sun too ferocious. The rocks were sinister... ruins were scattered everywhere, the ruins of a city... and so were the alien skeletons.

“What happened here?” Pohatu asked.

“How should I know?” Onua frowned. “But if I catch up with the alien monster that did this...”

“Good for you,” a gruff voice said from behind them, “you just did.”

Cutscene: Lord of the Skrall

Both Toa whirled, to see a tall, black-armored being, wielding a broadsword and shield. Some crude launcher was strapped to his belt, and there were flashes of green in his scratched, rusted armor.

“Makuta?!” Pohatu bellowed. “What are you doing here?”

The being laughed – a horrible, rasping sound. “I am not the Lord of Shadows, Toa fools. I am only his servant... but one to be feared. For I am the mighty Tuma, , last of the Skrall Lords, and leader of the Rock Tribe!”

“Well, I am Pohatu, Kolhii Champion of Po-Koro, Toa guardian of Mata Nui, and wielder of Stone!” the brown Toa bellowed.

“And I am Onua, Wisest of the Toa, wielder of Earth,” the black Toa said. “You would be wise not to challenge us. We have bested your master, and we shall again!”

“The Makuta has not met you,” Tuma frowned. “He knows of you, for sure – your are two of the Toa Mata, a fabled Toa Team sworn to protect his weakling brother, Mata Nui. But he has never fought you. You have not woken, for you are not needed.”

Onua was confused – a happening unheard of until now. “How do you know of the Makuta, anyway?” he asked. “And why are we unneeded? Even now, Mata Nui lies in slumber, struck down by the Makuta himself. It is our sworn destiny to awaken him, the Great Spirit, and you stand in our way. Prepare to be cast aside.”

“Good luck with that,” Tuma sneered, tensing for battle.

*insert standard brawl: Pohatu and Onua versus Tuma in a two-stock battle.*

Cutscene: Tuma's Escape

The Skrall Lord staggered back, wounded from Onua's savage attack. Pohatu charged forth to strike at him, but the ebon-armored titan simply sneered and raised a curious device in his hand. With the press of a button, he had disappeared from the scene, leaving Pohatu to smash headlong into a boulder.

“Oof,” the Toa of Stone grunted, collapsing into the sand. “Now where's he gotten to? Is this some trick of Makuta's?”

“I think not,” Onua frowned, “more like alien technology. But let us continue onwards; it is vital to right the wrongs here and return to the island of Mata Nui.”

*insert level: The Desert. New enemies: Vorox, Zesk, Sand Bat (miniboss). Oh, and how's this for music?*

*no ending cutscene*

*STAGE CLEAR reward: none*

Chapter 12?

Cutscene: An unexpected detour

Onua: We need to find Tuma, perhaps he will have answers for us on this alien world. Maybe we can leave this place as well, I quite dislike it here.

Pohatu: Is the sun getting to you Onua?

Onua: Lets just get moving.

*Onua and Pohatu begin running across the desert after a few seconds of sustained running a portal suddenly opens up in the ground Onua stops but Pohatu has yet to catch up*

Onua: Whoa!

Pohatu: what is it brother?

Onua: Stop running! Look out!

*Pohatu collides with Onua and they both fall into the portal*

Cutscene: Unexpected resistance

*Both toa fall from the sky to the ground, reminiscent of their entrance to Teridax’s cave*

Onua: For the love of Mata-Nui…..

Pohatu: Ugh, we have got to stop making entrances like this, not on is it bad for our health but it is not exactly stealthy either….

*several enemies previously fought appear all around, Multiman brawl begins*

Cutscene: Welcome to Odina [NOTE: It would be very easy to make cameos here on Odina because we could be very flexible with appearances of Generic Dark Hunters]

*An armor clad being runs towards the toa*

Generic Dark Hunter: State your business on Odina.

Onua: We recently fell from that portal up there*points up*, I am Onua and this is Pohatu.

Pohatu: Surely you have had problems with these things lately.

Generic Dark Hunter: We have toa, *grins* be glad we recently allied with The Order or I would have killed you both.

Pohatu: Killed us?!

Generic Dark Hunter: Yes, you two of all beings must know of this place…*scowls*…although you look rather different from what I have heard…

*several other portals open, spewing out enemies of all kinds[Enemies will be decided by someone else]

Generic Dark Hunter: Here we go again….

Onua: Brother look! The portal is closing!

Pohatu: Oh no…we have to get out of here!

*Level start, you have a time limit to get to the portal, jump from platform to platform facing resistance all the way*

Cutscene: Leaving so soon?

*Pohatu climbs into the portal Onua is about to follow when the Generic Dark Hunter intervenes*

Generic Dark Hunter: Toa, catch!

*Onua turns in time to catch a small device*

Onua; What is this?

Generic Dark Hunter: It is a device I stole from one of our friends over there, but I recalibrated it to open a portal like the one up there that will lead to Odina, so you can come back here any time. So if you need any assistance just start it up.

Pohatu: Onua? The portal is closing….

Onua: Thank you Hunter, I would wager that I will see you soon…

*Onua climbs into portal and the level ends*

Level clear

Not me. He has no idea where I live, and could never find out. And if a physic person somehow knew and told him, he wouldn't believe them.

But I can find him.

Because I am the night. I am fear. I am what makes the criminals stay in at night.

I am the Batman.

Wait, wat?

Don't worry, the only person on Angel Bob's side would be...well, Angel Bob. Plus, he would get us nowhere because of his lack of programming experience and he can't threaten people to become programmers, because he doesn't know where they live.

Nonsense. I know EXACTLY where you live, and I have 2/3 of this site on my side simply for being a Doctor Who fan.

But in any case, I actually wasn't planning a hostile takeover. And is anyone going to actually work on Lewa-Kopaka, or do I have to do it all myself?

I'll warn you, if I have to do it myself, it won't be done for a while, because I have a vigorous teenager party to attend within ten minutes. Ta-ta!

You think you know where I live. Decoys, my friend. Even though you are a Doctor Who fan doesn't mean they would all team up with you, they have minds of their own, they know that the right thing to do is to stop you. And I don't like the look of that evil grin you are giving me. I think you were looking for this :) .

On Topic: Yeah, you probably will have to write it yourself.

Link to comment

P'sha. Docter Who fans may be fairly numerous, but they can't stand up to the pure concentrated destructive evil that is known as many things. The Black Death, the S-Bombs, the destroyers, or... most horrifying of all, the Sonic Fan-base.

Also, I'll take Lewa and Kopaka.

I must say, I'm not crazy about talos being playable in the story, but I suppose it is alright. But guys, as the focus on the game is on BIONICLE characters, I think that Talos should NOT be unlockable for the brawl, I think we should make him a DLC character. But we don't want the focus to be on OUR characters. The point is to make a BIONICLE fighter. Incidentally, I have FINALLY finished Matoro's next chapter. I have the music already.

I thought he would be DLC, the original characters first then ours, but I thought it was ok to put him the story and so did 2Tie. Talos was first created for Bionicle but the character has branched off to be a lot of things lately

Well, then get working! *cracks whip*

I repeat: get working, everyone! Omega, Lewa-Kopaka! Talos, Pohatu-Talos! Now, now, now! Move it! *cracks whip again*

It's perfectly fine to have Talos in the story, and possibly the brawls, too, I don't really care. All I care about is that we sneak some Weeping Angels into the background. XD

Fine, here's your chapter for you.

Level XX: the bob-uning.

*Lewa and Kopaka drop down out of a Portal. They see a big button that says “blow up all the bad guys”. They look to each other, nod then walk up to it about to press the button. But before they can Angle Bob appears out of nowhere, takes their money, credit for all of their work, and all of the happiness in their life. He then kills them with his magic geometry powers and flies away.*

LEVEL FAILED reward: Loss of self respect.

Oh I already have something planned for your cameo Bob, at the moment though I am working slightly editing Talos' back story. Once you all know who Talos is then I will get to work on the next chapter.

Link to comment

If I may say so myself, that was the worst story chapter ever. After all, Angel Bob can never beat me.

On a serious note, why bother having DLC? If we have everything ready by the time the game is finished, why not just include them in the main game? If you are concerned about the game focusing more on our characters, that doesn't really make sense, would you rather fight as Tahu (pretty much the most iconic character in the series) or as some person you have never, ever heard of before you started playing the game? If it is really an issue, you could always throw in an option to allow the player to take those characters out (hide them).

Just my thoughts.

Someone else has to write a new chapter. Cause I don't want to write another until someone else's story is built on.

Note: I wrote this before Talos wrote his post.

Are Ski and the Hero Factory guy going to show up in story, or are they going to be like Wolf and Toon Link?

Link to comment

The reason we are making those characters DLC is because the plan is to release a lot more DLC throughout the game. It's easier and more efficient. We the plan is to constantly be making additional levels, characters, maps, gameplay elements, power-ups, and eventually a sequel story mode. That let's us put out content as soon as we finish it. It's like publishing a game episodically if that makes any sense. But here, it's not linear, so we can add what we want, when we want. Therefore it would be easier to add in non-BIONICLE characters AFTER we've finished the other stuff so that it doesn't take as long.

Btw, I have a great idea for DLC, but it can wait until we get there.

I'm surprised omega didn't double post, that would have been funny, anyway the back story ended up longer than I meant it to be and I think the picture is pretty big so for space purposes the story is spoiler tagged and the picture is a link.

Here is the picture.

And the story:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Talos’ memories of his former life are only limited to why he is now a Dark Hunter, the memory consists him being experimented on by a twisted toa that wanted far more power than what he was granted with. Not content with being a hero, he wanted to be above that he wanted to be a savior. Talos (then called test subject T4105) was injected with various types of chemicals into his blood stream the most potent one not being a chemical but a rare form of liquid metal. Once the metal was in his body the results the scientists received were far beyond their expectations. Test subject T4105 now was now effectively immortal, and demonstrated powers over metal beyond that of any toa of steel. However T4105 was not stupid. He knew that with his new found powers he could escape this cruel facility and use them for his own reasons, not for some crazy toa, and that is just what he did.

The test subject escaped with out any resistance that he couldn’t easily dispose of. Once outside the facility T4105 sprinted into the woods surrounding it and after getting a fair amout away from the place he was gunned down by a vahki 2.0 prototype called an Enforcer unit. His wounds were severe and he was left for dead. As his own platinum blood pooled around him a Dark Hunter spy calmly asked if T4105 would like to join their ranks, he would be healed by the medics and would certainly survive. The future Dark Hunter said a single word before fainting from his injuries, “Yes.”

Seemingly an instant later the new Hunter awoke only to find that he was not being repaired, but rebuilt. His right arm, lower legs, left eye, part of his jaw and even part of his brain had to have either some mechanical component installed in them or be replaced completely. In a fit of rage he destroyed everything in the room and the former test subject T4105 now had a more fitting name, Talos.

Tools and abilities: As mentioned before Talos is immortal (not invulnerable) and possesses the power to control metal much greater then a toa, however, using the power to often drains him so he also has a vast arsenal of weapons but his trademark is his vastly powerful fully mechanical right arm. Designed and built by the Hunter it has the ability to detach the hand from the wrist port but still be connected by a chain so it can be used like a grappling hook and a mace. Weapons of almost any type can be attached to the wrist port in place of his hand but the one used most often by him is the seismic shock hammer. It has the ability to cause small earthquakes and a hit from the weapon is devastating. On his left arm he also has a retractable wrist blade.

The most destructive ability in his arsenal is the power to transform into a powerful vahki-like form that boasts incredible speed, strength and even a gatling gun mounted in his chest this mode is known as pursuit mode by Talos and his fellow Hunters. The transformation requires vast amounts of energy from Talos and is therefore not used unless the situation is dire.

Status: Active. Talos’ deep inner hatred of the facility is a powerful tool for the Shadowed One. He is effective on any mission.

Like Wolf and Toon Link...

And poor jigglypuff...

Actually, I was going to include them in the story, near the end... you'll see...

And LOL at the double-post epidemic. :superfunny:

@ Omega: Great cameo, but geometry powers? No.

@ Inferno: Nonsense. I'm a psychotic alien statue thing. You're a... LEGO thingamajummy with numbers at the end of his name. XD

@ Talos: You've got plans? Interesting. I look forward to my reveal. And guys, we still need to pin down the identity of that Dark Hunter that got poned by the evil hordes on Odina... maybe Omega?

Do you ever pay attention? I already mentioned earlier that my character is not a Lego anything or related to Lego. My character could crush those Weeping Angels of yours to dust. So there. And if you get any hints from my character Smiley, I make all my characters pretty much invincible, so there again.

Now that I think about it, isn't Talos the only one of us that has a name based on a Bionicle character, I mean Gornt used to be, but now no one here really is. Although I may be incorrect.

Talos is a character that I created that I originally entered into the Dark Hunter contest (V1 was awful. ) over the years I upgraded him and he branched off into everything, Halo, Transformers, Half-life... he is just my trademark versatile character.

Anyway New chapter time!!11!

Chapter [no official number yet]: The speed of corruption

Cut scene: The weeping Angel [*Cough*]

*Talos and Pohatu are scene sprinting to the blast zone of the bomb hurled through the portal that the Toa just entered through. Once they can see the smoke caused by the detonation they also spot another Dark Hunter*

Talos: Look, a survivor! Are you ok- *he is interrupted by the moaning of the other Hunter. The Dark hunter has stone-like skin and wings, it’s piteous moaning continues until Talos and Pohatu can hear that it is actually saying something*

DH: So…horrible…no survivors…infected…corrupted…distorted…*he continues to shuffle past the two until he reaches a wall, slumps down puts his head in his hands and begins sobbing fearfully*

Talos: We need to get to that blast site; I have never seen the Stone Angel weep

Pohatu:I would say Angle…*interrupted by Talos*

Talos: Lets just get moving.

*Insert level: wrecked Odina P1: Talos P2: Pohatu new enemies: none

Cut scene: The Speed of Darkness

*Talos and Pohatu arrive at the blast site, the area is in ruins walls and buildings are blackened and in ruins*

Pohatu: The bomb really tore this place up…

Talos: Indeed it did—is that another survivor?

Pohatu: I thought the crazy Angle guy said that there were no survivors…

Talos: *coughs* Angel. He did…

*the lone figure turns towards the pair and they get a good look at him*

*Pohatu gasps*

Talos: …Corruption…infected…Distorted…

*The figure is a corrupted Dark Hunter, black material covers him black spikes can be seen protruding from his body, his left arm is large and claw like and it lets out an earsplitting shriek. More infected Hunters rise up similar to the first one and charge at Talos and Pohatu.

*insert multiman brawl: Blast site. Players 1&2 are the same Enemies: Corrupted dark Hunters fight [20? More?] until they are all defeated.

Cut scene: Revelation.

*once the attack stops Talos gets a chance to think.*

Talos: …You know, a bomb that caused this much destruction would have to have left a crater but I see none…

Pohatu: And that still doesn’t explain our shadowy friends here.

Talos: Exactly, this leads me to believe that the “bomb” may not be an explosive at all, but a container. If it is then we should find it.

Pohatu: …And why in Mata Nui’s name would we want to do that?

Talos: Because if I can get the technology I will be able to track our enemies, and they would certainly have the resources to attack again—

*Another portal opens and with it another “bomb” shoots out of it*

Talos: We need to get there, now.

*Talos and Pohatu run the direction of the new site.*

*insert level wrecked Odina players: same enimes: nobody new, many consisting of corrupted Dark Hunters*

Cut scene: A True Hunter.

Talos: Here!

*they both come skidding to a halt.*

Pohatu: By Mata Nui…

*At least 50 [more?] Corrupted Hunters stand idle around the duo’s target*

Talos: Well we will not be able to get that thing by standing here.

Pohatu: Are you crazy?! We can’t take that many!!

Talos: Maybe not now... hold on

*[note: if we have some sort of epic theme music it should be playing now]

*Talos transforms into seeker mode [better name?] The whole thing should be rather EPIC I will post seeker mode Talos pics soon to save me the time of describing it.*

*Pohatu looks shocked at the new being next to him*

Insert multiman brawl Player 1: Seeker Talos [seeker mode is his final smash. He should stay in it the entire fight.] P2: Pohatu. 50 enemies [more or less?]

Ending Cutscene: Mission: Complete

*Talos collapses in a heap next to the capsule*

Talos: *his breath comes out in raged gasps* Ugh…I’ve…got to fix that…

Pohatu: Aren’t we going to grab the bomb?!

Talos: Later…I’m going to take a nap…

Level complete Reward: none

Note: I wouldn’t edit this till I get pictures of Seeker Talos up

@ Talos: Well, that was an... interesting... chapter. (But cut out the angle jokes, 'kay? Most of the players wouldn't understand it.)

Cameos: Now, guys, we could still sneak Gornt in there, as a Vorox alpha male, but it's not at the top of our priority list.

@ Omega: Shoot. Then think up a BIONICLE alter ego for yourself, or we'll be forced to use Shadix.

@ Inferno: Well, it's no fun if you make all your characters invincible! That's why I hate writing for Smiley! >:(

Also: Over 100 posts in Story :happydance:

Back to Talos: Okay, I edited your chapter anyway. It's just not completely done.

Pohatu breaks the fourth wall. That's always fun. :D

Chapter 19: The Scourge of Corruption

Cutscene: Stone Angel

Talos and Pohatu raced through Odina, Talos's built-in fans clearing the smoke and ash before them. All around, Dark Hunters lay dead. Those who weren't were even more pitiful: ripped to shreds and blackened, immobile and trapped in fits of coughing. But not just the air from their lungs came out… so did the interior lining, their lifeblood wires, and assorted sparks. It was horror like Pohatu had never before seen.

Talos paused, and Pohatu nearly smashed into him. The Dark Hunter pointed an emerald-plated arm into the smoke, towards a single silhouette still on its feet.

"Stone Angel," Talos called, "what information have you?"

Pohatu squinted, walking forwards towards the Dark Hunter. He stopped.

"That's… a statue," he called to Talos.

"I'm aware of that," Talos replied. "Shut up and listen."

A voice pierced Pohatu's mind, evidently coming from the immobile stone angel.

"I'm afraid there have been no survivors," Stone Angel said.

"Really?" Talos replied.

"Indeed… those that do not lie still experience a fate worse than death," the strange statue continued.

"Worse than death...? What do you mean?" Talos asked… but the Stone Angel was gone.

*insert level: Odina. Background is wrecked. Playable characters: Talos, Pohatu. New enemies: None.*

Cutscene: Mutant

The blast site was even worse. There wasn't a square inch of ground that didn't have the materials of some poor Dark Hunter, and a sootlike black substance covered each and every one of them.

"The bomb really tore this place up," Pohatu observed.

Talos began to say something in response, but they were cut short by a long, pitiful moan. Shocked and tense, they turned to see one of the Dark Hunters sitting up.

"Urgh," Talos whispered. The figure was caked in the sootlike dust, with spikes jutting up where no spikes had been before. His eyes, formerly such a vivid red, were now just empty, blackened pits.

Pohatu started for the mutant. "It's okay," he said, "I can help."

The corpselike Hunter turned its empty eyes towards Pohatu and stared at him for a long moment.

"That's right," Pohatu said, "I'm going to make it better."

The creature responded with a piercing bellow and a vicious dive towards Pohatu. Only Talos's lightning-fast reflexes saved the Toa from certain death at its claws.

"Thanks," Pohatu panted as the Dark Hunter dispatched the mutant.

Talos said, "You're welcome," but Pohatu never heard him. The Toa was more focused on the hordes of blackened, spiky corpses rising slowly from the masses of the dead.

*insert multiman brawl at the blast site. Maybe 20 enemies. Playable characters: Talos, Pohatu. New enemies: Mutants.*

Cutscene: Revelation

Once the attack ceased, Talos got a chance to think. "You know, a bomb that caused this much destruction would have to leave a crater," he said, "but I see none."

"And that still doesn't explain our punk-haired friends here," Pohatu said.

"Oh, but it does," Talos replied. "That was no bomb - it was a mutation capsule. Packed to the brim with mutating bacteria, they hurled it in so it could release its cargo and convert everyone in the blast zone. Sick, but effective. And that means we should find the shell."

"And why in Mata Nui's name would we want to do that?" Pohatu asked, slightly apprehensive.

"I could use that technology not only to further the Shadowed One's aims, but also to reverse the process," Talos explained. "And to track down the people who made it. Once I get into their factory, I can shut down all mutation capsules in existence."

"Ah," Pohatu nodded.

Suddenly, another portal tore through the sky and dropped a mutation capsule. As it hurtles towards the ground, Talos turned to Pohatu with a grim look on his face.

"We need to get there, and now."

"Gotcha."

The two ran at top speeds to the new site.

*insert level: Odina. Playable characters: Talos, Pohatu. New enemies: None.*

Cutscene: A True Hunter

The two came skidding to a halt in front of the smoking, ruined shell. Talos started towards it, but Pohatu stopped him.

"Look at all those," he whispered.

Fifty or so mutants stood idly by the shell, ready to kill. Piercing shrieks split the air as they sharpened their claws.

"Well, we're not going to get that thing by just standing here," Talos shrugged.

"Are you crazy? We can't take that many!" Pohatu yelled.

"Maybe not in this form," Talos grinned.

[play 0:00 to 0:27 of YANA (Excerpt) (see music post in Administrative Section)] as

Talos's form shifted and twisted. Compartments folded in, weapons out. [will insert more of a description once picture is up]

Pohatu could do nothing but stare at the new being next to him.

"Let's get these guys," Talos rumbled.

*insert multiman brawl of about 50 mutants. Playable characters: Talos (Final Form), Pohatu.*

Cutscene: Mission Complete

As the last mutant fell with a Cordak in his throat, Talos collapsed in a heap next to the capsule. His breath coming in ragged gasps, he choked out, "I've got to fix this stamina limit."

"Aren't we going to get the bomb?" Pohatu asked.

"Later…" Talos panted. "First, I think I'll take a nap."

The Dark Hunter's head lolled back onto the mutation capsule, and he sunk into a deep sleep.

*STAGE CLEAR reward: None.*

Ok ixnay on so many Angel jokes, I was afraid I was going overboard but that is what editing is for right? :P

Also I finished Seeker Talos. I'll post pictures soon.

Ok here is a picture of Seeker mode (If anyone comes up with a better name please don't hesitate to make suggestions.)

Picture!!!

I guess i'll provide an explanation as well:

What they put in Talos' brain was part of a main processor from an enforcer prototype built by his enemies at the facility the piece of technology was somehow stolen and contained the specifications of the prototype enforcer unit. when accessed it gives Talos the ability to alter his shape to resemble the prototype (plus his modifications of course) right down to the head unit which has a stunning resemblance to a Vahki.

Weapons and improvement of this mode include: A Gatling gun mounted in the user's chest, double jointed legs, increased power, speed and a improved jump-pack.

Side-effects include: Extreme exhaustion after use and people thinking that you are a god.
