  1. IC, Aurax: Iron Canyon “Sun’s getting high. Keep an eye out for a cave or nook.” Aurax's face remained expressionless at Tueris's remark, but make no mistake, he was on edge. He was used to going through Iron Canyon, but not so much with other people. He glanced around, making sure to spot anything that the group could hole up in, no pun intended. The sooner they could find shelter, the better; they were less vulnerable if they weren't out in broad daylight.

  2. If I understand it correctly, LEGO was never seriously interested in putting a human in the world of BIONICLE (and for good reason, it would have sucked). But even if they did, they wouldn’t have really put the kid in an underground lava tunnel.

  3. I think you'd have to split this up by building system. If we're talking the G1 technic days I want to say the vahki. They weren't bad, so to speak, but they were just kind of uninteresting. Essentially they were just a robot police force being controlled by Makuta. The stars were actually very memorable on account of how terrible they were. With CCBS I want to say the Chima line. Chima figures were not only bad but nobody seemed to want them. I myself was largely out of the Lego scene by this point but Chima was not at all memorable. Even the superheroes figures were better.

  6. Aww, look at that sweet lil smile - what a handsome pup. Now, I don't consider myself a coffee aficionado - perhaps a begrudging semi-dependent. My palate isn't sharp enough to really get into deep and/or subtle flavors and variations. A few factoids I've gleaned over the years that I've found interesting: 1. Light roast has more caffeine than dark roasts. 2. You might enjoy different brewing methods, depending on how much you want to get into the process. Some of my friends really enjoy pour-over coffee, AeroPress, french press, among other methods. I do have a few who like to buy and roast and grind their own coffee beans, and one who has some coffee plant seedlings that she's growing. It can be a very involved hobby! 3. If you eventually find yourself nauseous after drinking coffee, there are low-acidic versions on the market, and I found that helped me. 4. Instant coffee is fun to use as watercolor for art, and useful in a pinch for all-nighters, but beyond that, consume at your own risk. 5. Adding cardamom apparently reduces or negates the caffeine's effect if you want some coffee before bed. 6. Adding a dash of salt negates the bitterness - I've tried this one. It's ...weird? Maybe I added too much salt 😂 Have fun on this new venture!

  7. As someone who knows nothing of this situation except what you've posted on this site, it's hard to take you at your word when you seem unable to keep your story straight. A month ago you posted a thread apologising to this Vahkiti person for the alleged stalking, saying it was an unintentional mistake and you misunderstood the rules. Now you're saying Vahkiti and the rest of the community turned on you for no reason and you're being subjected to baseless discrimination. In both accounts, you're trying to portray yourself as the victim, but the two versions of events simply don't line up.

  8. Apparently there was some DC/Marvel constraction figures. I know nothing about them beyond the fact that they existed.

  9. Seems as you've forgotten about the Ben 10 constraction sets haha. Easily the most forgettable of them all, but they were a neat oddity. There were also two Toy Story sets- Buzz Lightyear and Zurg, which were borderline constraction, depending on how you look at it.

  11. Mother Brain Built for the Metroid Foes collab. For this group project I chose to build the main antagonist of the first Metroid, I had the idea of building Mother Brain for a long time and this was the perfect opportunity to finally do it. For the dark tan tubes I used some steering wheels and hoods from the Ice Fisherman - CMF Series 5. And finally a more "2D" photo to recreate the actual boss fight. 10/02/24

  13. Fallout: New Vegas A collection of items and characters from the Post Nucleat Role Playing Game. Victor For the Securitron, Victor, I used a pair of trans-black pneumatic tubes from te Life on Mars sets. The "skeleton" inside the tubes is made of CCBS arms, Victor's arms are posable. Welcome to New Vegas The iconic Las Vegas sign that you can find in the game, for the E I used two sand green Minifigures Revolver, this piece is used in the LEGO Ideas set "Insect Collection" to create the feet of the mantis. Mr. House For Mr. House I wanted to create both of his version: the classic Monitor and the real Mr. House. Of course the Courier has a golf club in his hands for... you know why. 15. To add on to those examples and since you brought it up, because Skrall shields are kinda buzzsaw-y (especially in movies and promotional material) I opted for having my PC Skrall's hand be able to rotate to make the shield like a buzzsaw instead of the shields themselves being tech items. Things being more cybernetics than tech 'items' is a different frame of mind to think about than normal, but it can be compelling. Maybe a skrall could captain america throw his boomerang shield with a high tech arm tractor beam? I'm curious what wild impractical uses of sufficiently advanced technology people will think up for the sake of the rule of cool depending on what they want to do with their characters.

  16. Tragically, bones are just regular bones here, as cool a concept as that is (no concept is too grim for me tbh). Technology is a mixed bag; the technological advancements that there are are thanks to Great Being technologies that have been recovered, but that's mostly just accounted for vehicles, cybernetics and weapons. The point of comparison @BULiK has used, which I think is pretty spot-on, is the state of post-apocalyptic technology in Fallout, with the extreme disparities of advancement, where people can have energy weapons but still be living mostly in wooden shacks. As far as your specific examples, 'energy blaster' weapons are still a step too far at the moment. The tech that we do have has been reverse-engineered, or uses scraps and ingenuity, like the Thornax weapons; this is still a post-apocalyptic desert, with resource scarcity. If energy weapons appear, they're more likely to be still-functioning GB tech given out as a quest reward. This all plays into the overall uneven state of technological advancement; the Agori and Glatorian have been inheriting and reverse-engineering GB tech, rather than progress being a slower, more balanced process. TL;DR: technology is better than medieval, but much of it is reverse-engineered and still cobbled together. More futuristic sci-fi things like laser weapons aren't within the capabilities of Agori and Glatorian to make. Edit: Power tools are an odd one; due to the fact that people are more familiar with making cybernetics mods, thanks to reverse-engineered technologies, if someone has a power tool it's more likely that their arm is a power tool, rather than just having an electric drill or jackhammer.

  17. Just wanted to clarify a few things re. changes from canon. In canon, it’s said that the Glatorian and Agori naturally have a metallic bone structure. Is that still the case for this world? I mainly ask because I’ve long been kicking around a concept for a Bara Magna tribe who honour their dead by using their bones to forge weapons, tools, and armour, allowing long-dead ancestors to “live on”, in a sense. It’s never really been a good fit for any past games, but I’m wondering if it might work here (provided you don’t think it’s too grim of a concept)? How advanced is the everyday technology? Obviously, vehicles and limited cybernetics have been mentioned. But in canon there were vehicles like the Thornatus that had energy blasters, and Skrall shields were depicted (in the movie, at least), as functioning like giant buzzsaws (that seemingly had homing capabilities when thrown). So are power tools, energy weapons, etc. a thing in this game, or is the overall tech level generally more medieval in nature?

  18. Profiles Topic | IC Topic | OOC Topic | Game Rules The Premise Ghosts of Bara Magna is an open sandbox TBRPG, designed to encourage player freedom and agency. Though there are plot threads, they’re just that: threads, for you to pull on as you see fit. I have as little an idea of what the future has in store as you do, and I can’t wait to see what becomes of this world, how you grow it and improve it far beyond what my imagination could ever conjure. Players are also encouraged to create their own quests or plots, whether based on an established element of the world or something entirely new – I would recommend seeking out mod approval for these, so that we can provide access to elements of our own toolbox. In an ideal world you should be driving the story of the RPG at least as much as me, if not even moreso, and I want to make sure the tools to accomplish just that will be at your disposal. It's important to note that this is not necessarily Bara Magna as you know it; though I've aimed to stay true to the spirit of 2009, and what I believe to be the untapped potential of Bara Magna as a setting, this is not the canon Bara Magna. What does that mean in practice? Well, Agori and Glatorian have roughly human lifespans, leaning slightly longer than our own. This means that far more of the events of centuries past are long-forgotten; similarly, The Shattering as we know it cannot be assumed to have occurred. Not only is no one old enough to recall the cataclysmic event that left Bara Magna a wasteland, but Bara Magna should be assumed to be its own planet with its own history, not a fragment of a larger Spherus Magna. If the planets of the Solis Magna system were once connected, it was so long ago now that it hardly matters. Bota Magna and Aqua Magna do exist, but little is known about them beyond their clearly observable ocean and jungle coverage. This has implications closer to ground level, too: things you may recognise from canon, such as the Great Beings or the Dreaming Plague, are not necessarily the same as you remember them. All this to say, don't assume that you know what you're in for – after all, I hardly created this RPG just to rehash what we've already seen. The mysteries of Bara Magna are mysteries once more, with answers that may yet surprise you. The GMs At present, the GMs are a goose and Bulik. Bulik can field any approval I can, apart from requests for Sand or Iron Tribe characters. Not much more to say on that, really. The Rules If you’re familiar with the absolutely iconic work that is Tuck’s Guide to Common Sense, the majority of rules (and plenty of other handy hints!) are helpfully outlined there. However, for convenience: Every player must make one (and only one) post in the profiles topic, and update this with the profiles of each of their characters. PCs are to be original characters. This doesn’t mean you can’t copy your favourite Ryan Gosling silent stare role, but rather, that you can’t play characters from canon. When writing out of character in a post, you should preface what you say with ‘OOC:’. When writing in character, you should preface with ‘IC:’, the name of your character, and their current location. Furthermore, when possible, out of character discussions should be kept within the Discussion Topic or the RPG Discord server (link). Given that PvP will play an important role in tournaments, I want to remind everyone that ‘autohits’ (see Tuck's guide for more info on this) are illegal, and to play your characters realistically. It’s okay to take a hit in a fight – in fact, having to apply creative thinking and improvisation due to injuries you sustain in a combat encounter often makes it more fun to write, and more fun to read. And combat, like everything else in the game, is about having fun; should issues arise, the GMs are prepared to referee, but we would prefer not to interfere. Finally, most importantly of all, be nice to each other! As I said before, we’re all here to have fun – and though we all get emotionally involved in our characters and their experiences, it’s important not to let IC tensions bleed into OOC interactions. If you feel things are getting a bit too heated, be sure to take a step back, and if you need a hand in resolving things privately the GMs are of course here to help. That said, intentionally abusive or bigoted behaviour will not be tolerated. If you muck around, you will find out. Accidentally hurting someone’s feelings is something we’ll try to resolve as sensitively as possible; after all, these things happen. But there is a zero tolerance policy on racism, homophobia, transphobia, and bullying. Basically: just don’t be a prat.

  19. This may or may not have been posted before, if it has, I haven't found it until today, but as noted by user bionicle_fanatic on the /r/bioniclelego subreddit, the countdown on the telescope in MNOG will reach its conclusion on October 18th at approximately 4:04 PM EST. According to him, the Red Star is to reach its destination on that date? I'm honestly not sure where he got that info from. Personally, I feel like the clock's just going to stop, or loop around, and nothing is going to happen. However as a community, I feel like we should all try and do something special on that day regardless. Be it a large scale community event, or smaller personal celebrations of BIONICLE history. Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/bioniclelego/comments/53od3m/in_roughly_23_days_the_red_star_will_reach_its/ EDIT: If my numbers are correct, this is actually going to happen 18 days sooner than originally calculated. I'm not sure where my Skype friend got the 18th, but I'm getting something entirely different now. EDIT 2: As noted by the original Reddit poster, it seems the counter resets after every logon, unfortunately leaving us with no actual solid date for that timer's end. However, as posted here, it would seem that in the code of the game, there is a hard coded date after all: January 12th, 2290. Nearly 300 years from now. It's pretty freaking far off, but at the same time, it IS feasible to pass the date on for the next three or four generations. So who knows? Maybe one day we will get to celebrate that day. Until then, I suppose we'll just treat January 12th as some kind of inverted anniversary.

  20. I thought it was common knowledge, but I guess as time goes on there are less people around who remember these things. It's all there when you talk to the astrologer, its just less obvious I guess when you're looking at a modern version of the game where the telescope isn't running properly. Like she says, the carvings are prophecies, they were supposed to depict all the chapters in the game. The brighter white stars were originally aligned so that the movement of the red star would synchronize with them in the same patterns as on the carvings as it slowly moved through the sky. When the red star was in exactly the right spot in relation to a constellation, a new chapter was supposed to come out. Now, obviously, the carvings don't all line up with actual events in the game - where they diverge we basically get a glimpse at how Templar had plotted the game out from the beginning, and how it changed. But iirc aside from the Bohrok constellation (which was added later, towards the end of the game's run) the number of carvings is equal to the number of chapters. As you acknowledge, Templar was a small team and they couldn't guarantee that they would get every update out on-time. This is why the astrologer says the future is uncertain - its a disclaimer so that, if something went wrong, Templar would have some wiggle room to get the update out the door a bit later (as it happens, something did go wrong - Templar is based in New York city, so 9/11 had a big impact on them. They pushed the Ko-Koro chapter back just a bit as a result). As for how I know this stuff, I've spent a lot of time reading through Bionicle news archives and old resources so I have at least a loose idea of what the fans were talking about back then, this included. It's a real shame none of the original fan forums survive, but what're you gonna do?

  21. Huh. Never bothered to figure out what was going on with the timer since its original purpose to count down to a new chapter is long defunct. I'm curious as to why the timer would be different in the fan-modified saving versions of the game - that means that a fan working on it had to have been the person to change it, right? But why would they care to do that? And its weird that the official version has the timer starting in 2005. That version of the game was polished off in 2002 and sat untouched from then until 2006 when Lego tossed it up on the site. Does the timer start date necessarily reflect when the timer was truly set? I guess it must not, seeing as the fan version (which came from the official version launched in 06) has a start in 2004.
