  1. Oh, I excel at obnoxious and rude. And stop putting words in my mouth. I never told anyone their headcanons were wrong. I merely explained that their ideas didn't exactly fall into the category of headcanon. The whole point is that they're neither right nor wrong. Interpret the story whatever way you want. The best part about fiction is that you can play around with it in your own mind. your definition of headcanon is wrong in the first place and multiple people have told you this and youre refusing to listen. by saying "this doesnt count as headcanon" youre saying "your headcanon is wrong" and at this point you seem to just be trying to backpedal and cover for yourself. no one is enjoying your presence here, because all youre doing is starting pointless arguments and being needlessly rude. please just cut it out and leave if you dont have anything constructive or worthwhile to contribute to this thread
  2. you basically just explained it for yourself the people who dont want more canon details added are also more likely to dislike the existing canon and want to headcanon things that contradict it
  3. Wow, you sure were quick to tell me how much of a jerk I am. I'm not arguing against Lalonde's headcanons specifically. And for what it's worth, your headcanons aren't "valid" headcanons either. What I said does not contradict the definition. Read it carefully: Note, now, that it does not say that headcanon replaces existing canon. I can have headcanon that says Matoro hates potatoes, and it's valid headcanon because there's nothing to necessarily contradict it (that's not a real headcanon of mine, though ). Someone else can have a headcanon that says Matoro loves potatoes, and that's just as valid as mine. Regitnui, T1S, and Dorek have the right idea with their own headcanons. They're not replacing canon, but adding on to it in their own way. the very idea of there being such a thing as valid and invalid headcanons is laughable. it's contradictory to the entire point of headcanons. stop telling people their headcanons are wrong - it's nothing but obnoxious and rude.
  4. That's not headcanon at all. Headcanon is stuff that you infer from the story, not stuff you want changed. JMSOG quoted the official definition of 'headcanon' in the original post, which differs from what you said, but sure, okay. argue against people's headcanons (which, i might add, don't affect you) under the pretense of correcting them on the definition of the word. definitely makes you look good.
  5. i've dabbled in just about every electronic genre you could think of, up to and including noise, but currently i'm working on some big beat stuff; it's been a lot of fun. basically any genre that involves breakbeats is one that i'm good at. what about you? I never could get in to Noise, but Drone and ambient stuff is very interesting. I made mostly four-to-the-floor house for the first couple of years (unfortunately ) but lately I've been making slow, chillout, breakbeat tracks. I like finding bizarre samples, like whispering/softspoken sounds, and layering them with synths. Less composing, and more sampling. sampling is the reason i like genres like big beat and mashcore so much, heh. it's a lot of fun to take other songs and make something new out of them, rather than compose something solely on your own; although i've been getting much better at that as well.
  6. i find it interesting that Karzahni and the Shadowed One aren't on the list. maybe OP could fix that? that being said, i really liked the Piraka. they weren't nearly distinct enough from each other in terms of personality, but they had some interesting powers and some very interesting backstories. plus, a whole team of villains who are constantly trying to backstab each other is just plain fun.
  7. my headcanons include, but are not limited to: fixed gender ratios for Matoran/Toa/Turaga, Glatorian, Agori, and maybe even Skrallthe MU is not made entirely of protodermisthe entire timeline is 1/10th of its canonical size (except for the parts detailed in the main story)as many gender (and transgender) headcanons as i see fit, which i don't really feel like detailing here because the list is constantly growing and i know that someone would come along and start an argument about themprobably more but i can't think of them right now
  8. i've dabbled in just about every electronic genre you could think of, up to and including noise, but currently i'm working on some big beat stuff; it's been a lot of fun. basically any genre that involves breakbeats is one that i'm good at. what about you? I forgot to mention that I kind of mess around with lefty guitars. I have 3 lefty guitars and I don't really know any songs on them, but I just jam out and try to write my own rock/metal/instrumental music. But yeah, I have a left Ibanez guitar and the other two are Chinese guitars that play/sound amazing, but I acquired for dirt cheap, one of which is a 7 string which automatically makes it my favorite lol. But: I'm a right handed person; I play the drums right-handed, and because the trumpet valves use my right hand's fingers, I figured it would save time to just get left guitars and learn that way. i'm the exact opposite - i'm a natural lefty, so i play the bass that way, but i learned drums right-handed, since it's not particularly easy to have to reverse the kit every time you're using one that isn't yours. funny thing is, i play Guitar Hero and the like right-handed. it's just easier that way for some reason.
  9. i took drum lessons from about age ten to twelve; i enjoyed it but not really enough to keep at it. i haven't truly practiced in some time, but i still know all the basics and could probably pick it up again easily. i bought a bass at age fourteen and while i never took lessons (still considering that though), i play fairly regularly and i'm pretty decent at it. i don't recall what exact model my bass is, but it's a lefty Ibanez; a pretty standard model. i also own a couple keyboards that i don't actually play, just mess around with for ideas, and which i'm also saving to record as samples in the future. i'd like to learn guitar, but there's a lot of other things i'd like to do, so i don't know if i'd have time for lessons. for the last few years, though, i've mostly been focused on electronic composition. i've worked my way through a number of DAWs and genres, and i've come very close to having a finished EP to release multiple times, but my perfectionism (and other outside factors) keep getting in the way. i'm hoping to get something done to release by January, but i'll have to wait and see.
  10. congratulations to Roa and VB! nice to see both of them back in action and better than ever. looking forward to seeing who our third place was (and also seeing Roa win the contest).
  11. 2001 would be perfect as a standalone film. i can't see a 2006 film having a satisfactory ending or enough time to cover the whole story.
  12. happy birthday! although its odd, id have thought the great spirit robot would be older than 23
  13. the stuff they've got in the animations now is great, although i'd love to see something MNOG-style crop up later. just so long as they don't use any licensed music whatsoever.

    to clarify

i understand perfectly well that galis voice situation is due to a narrator doing all the voices that much is really obvious and i dont appreciate people assuming that im an idiot who cant make that connection i saw that gali had a deep voice due to being voiced by the narrator and i thought "wouldnt it be cool if that were her real voice. wouldnt it be cool if she were a trans woman" because you know, i like seeing representation of people like me in the media that i read and watch and play with but its really, really rare and sometimes i have to make it for myself and this seemed like a perfect opportunity to do so but apparently i cant even have a harmless little headcanon
  15. they look like planets, but are they? maybe they're something more akin to the Red Star - vehicles after a fashion.
  16. yes, i understand that cis people's voices work that way. instead of saying voices are "masculine" and "feminine", though, you could try "low" and "high". gendering voices isn't really a good idea. saying Gali has "a man's voice" is ridiculous, since Gali's not a man. the "boys won't buy female characters" argument makes no sense - the only reason behind that statement is that boys are taught to see femininity as an undesirable trait, and even then i think you'll find that lots of boys (the ones who haven't quite glommed onto that idea yet) have absolutely no problem purchasing sets of female characters. it makes absolutely no sense for Lego to put that much thought into making sure their one and only female character can be confused for being male; i don't think that's the reason behind this. the narrator is just doing all the voices, it's as simple as that.
  17. not necessarily. transgender people can have voices of any pitch. i already said this - gender has no bearing on voice tone whatsoever. you can't determine a person's gender just by listening to their voice.
  18. that was in the 2008 story. Mata Nui killed Teridax in the 2010 story. he's officially, canonically dead. (also please stop trying to tie G2 into G1 with flimsy theories, it's a hard reboot for a reason)
  19. Well non-trans voices are usually distinguishable. i have absolutely no idea what that's supposed to mean.
  20. Gali actually had a fairly deep voice in BIONICLE: Mask of Light, all things considered. I'm fine with a deep-voiced Gali. But there's a difference between boy deep voice and girl deep voice. actually, no there isn't, because trans women & girls can have tenor/baritone/bass voices (i find that musical terms are the only good way to not gender voices). and in the same vein, trans men have soprano/alto voices before starting on testosterone. gender really has no bearing on voice tone whatsoever.

    gali

confirmed for trans girl that's all carry on
  22. i was about to reply to the first part of your reply to me, but courtney made the point i was going to make much better than i could've, so i'm going to just second her answer. your original post made it sound as though you weren't happy with the portrayal of Gali. my bad for misinterpreting. one other thing: courtney and i are girls. please don't misgender us.
  23. (3) literally what does "not just be a girl to be a girl" even mean is it that a single character confirmed to be female out of at least 15 characters total is too much for you, Gunz?
  24. i think i'm gonna call him Takua.
