  1. This particular statement would vary wildly on your on cultural background though. What is considered left wing in the US would be considered right wing in the Netherlands, whilst in the past some BZP policies would be off the political scale here. It's invariably the result of the internet being a global community and as such offering a very wide variety of cultural views. If you combine quite a few of them in one policy you end up with something that will be rated "left wing" or "right wing" based entirely on the commentator's cultural background. oh yeah, that's very true. i just wasn't sure how else to word that statement. 'left-wing' doesn't really fit, but 'liberal' wouldn't really be accurate either, and with my limited American worldview (i'm working on it, i promise) i can't think of more terms. all this stuff is honestly really subjective, although i guess you could suffice it to say that "BZPower's perceived staff bias always seems to differ from the opinions of the people who hate it" (which is essentially what you said. oops). to be honest though, that seems like something of a given.
  2. it was always the winter sets for me, because of the mystery surrounding the next story year. i remember the 2008 winter sets being a particularly exciting leak/reveal process; i checked Brickset obsessively for a while. ....and then i ended up buying almost none of them. how about that.

  5. 01: Tarakava, mostly because of the colours. 02: Bahrag. the shaping, the gear functions, the recoloured pieces - everything. an all time favourite. 03: Takua + Pewku. just too cute. i'm a sucker for sets with wheels. Umbra excluded, of course. 04: Lhikan + Kikanalo. funny how the Kikanalo had a more interesting build than any of the other 04 titans. 05: Keetongu. good colours and an inspired build. 06: Brutaka, mostly because of sheer size and complexity, honestly. 07: Karzahni, solely because of the green recolours. 08: Takanuva. he was an absolute blast to build, and imo is the most solidly built titan set in the whole line. 09: Thornatus, pretty much just because of the tan pieces. sensing a pattern here? 10: Gresh/Skrall. it came down to a tie between lime armour and black Kopaka sword. neither won. of course, i'm assuming that combiner sets don't count here....
  6. i have to agree on both of these. also, Sumiki, Zatth, and Takuma have been known to use their own gifs from Brickfair as thread closers, which is always fun.
  7. other topics about Bionicle 2015 aren't allowed right now, though. sorry.
  8. there's a whole topic for 2015 discussion over here. try asking in there.

  11. the whole source of the issue here is the fact that Munty essentially said that people's opinions didn't matter and was deliberately excluding them from the poll. the problem is not the fact that people have these opinions and are voicing them. also, were the scare quotes really necessary?
  12. forcing anyone to understand the old storyline, especially in the context of joining a fan site, is ridiculous and defeats the whole purpose of a reboot. if new fans hear us mentioning the old canon and become interested in it, they'll go and research it themselves. it should be entirely up to them, though. for this reason, i think it would be wise for BZP to create separate forums for new canon and old canon discussion - but i suspect they're already planning that anyway.
  13. SAME, very same. i need to go buy myself a large quantity of each of these
  14. xae if you were to follow through on this idea i would be glad to help
  15. four things that i can think of. BZPower is the most popular Bionicle fan site, and always has been. popularity always yields hate. BZP used to have really, really strict rules. they've really been loosened up over the last year or two, and that's fantastic, but of course some people are only going by their memory of old BZP, or possibly of getting banned on old BZP for something that may or may not have been petty. a great many of the more well-known BZP staffers (in recent years) hold left-wing sociopolitical views. people perceive this as a staff-wide or even site-wide bias, even though it really isn't anything of the sort. all of the above reasons for disliking BZPower are very commonly over-exaggerated by people who do.
  16. i got my first set as a birthday present. i loved it, and went and bought two more with birthday money. it was all downhill from there.
  17. orders vary in swiftness - ive gotten them within three days before, and also had ones that took a couple weeks. it really depends on the seller. also, it's generally a good idea not to pay until you receive the package - ive dealt with sellers before who just couldnt seem to ship anything. if you want to know about good MOCing pieces, i have two words for you: ball joints.
