    tuesday again?

    but clover......image-only comments arent allowed
  3. plantlife won't be taken off the list. it's a perfectly valid option, and people have made good arguments for it. ice was only removed for canonical consistency, not because people thought it was a bad choice. so seriously. please calm down. there's really no need to be throwing insults over something like this.
  4. no, yes, and yes. it would appear to be that way.
  5. [sighs loudly] really, Lego? really? anyway. Gali is The Best set of the winter line and i didn't need a set review to know this, but it was worth the read anyway since it was packed with so many bad puns. thank you based Pablo
  6. okay, fine. if we're still going to play the canonization game until the very end of G1, i'll bite. fire or plasma seem like the best choices. since the rest of the team adheres to the classic six elements, though (a choice i'm not particularly happy with), having the last one be a classic element as well makes a little more sense to me. also seriously, remove ice from the poll. it's been stated in canon (several times) that there were four Toa of Ice. adding one more now would just be ridiculous.
  7. IMO it doesn't really make sense to name an entire universe/story generation after one island.
  8. i just call it G2 or Gen 2. makes it simpler to distinguish between generations - just calling it by the year doesn't make that distinction at all, while 'Okotoverse' doesn't really have a G1 equivalent (Mata Nui-verse? kinda awkward). plus, assigning names (Okotoverse or Ultimate) rather than numbers to the incarnations of the line is honestly not that great an idea - just look at Marvel. look how many different names there are for the various series of any given superhero (Spider-Man comes to mind) and tell me that that isn't confusing. ('bionice' is tempting though)
  9. It might not have been worth it since that was basically the last year. it wasn't planned to be, though - the decision to end Bionicle in 2010 was made mid-2009. Archon is right, 2009 would definitely have been a good opportunity to bring out some new build types.
  10. i don't see why there would be a problem. they worked Batman in just fine. Well, everyone knows Batman, at least to the extent required for this movie. The Ninjas would have to explain why they're spinning around, and Laval would have to explain what the magic blue stuff he has is. If it's just kept to the brief appearance of the Green Ninja, it worked great and was a nice homage, but I can't see them being main characters, especially with both already having their own shows. ehh...i don't think there'd be too much discussion of the characters' storylines. i don't think there's really any need for explanations for those things (at least not for the ninjas), and with the Ninjago and Chima characters being nearly all male anyway, i doubt many of them (or many Bionicle characters for that matter) would make it into main roles...if this news article is any indication.
  11. i don't see why there would be a problem. they worked Batman in just fine.
  12. this is great news. it's not really like anyone needed more reasons to go see TLM 2, but hey, we've got em, and they're good ones. oh, and: couldn't help but notice this nice little touch. good on ya
  13. It already happened. They can attach to Y-joints, Brain Attack 2013 heads, standard CCBS hands, as well as even a 2-stud-long Technic pin. So the new masks have backwards compatibility, can function as armor when used with a Y-joint, and characters can hold the masks. oh! alright then, awesome. do they work with Metru or Mata heads? seems like they'd fit onto Metrus at least.
  14. seems like this topic could be rolled into this thread.
  15. i'm buying them all and nothing can stop me. except maybe not having money. yeah. working on that.
  16. i'm a bit disappointed, because i would have liked consistency (the axle connection worked just fine). honestly, though, it won't be a big deal once we come up with a way to use the new masks without using the new heads. it'll happen.
  17. i really doubt that the Skull Spiders will be an obvious parallel to any of Gen 1's enemies, or even HF's. this is an entirely new story; don't you think Lego would want to try something different?
  18. it's honestly really hard to say at this point. i think it's somewhat likely we'll see Ekimu and Makuta at some point in the future - maybe not 2015, though. Toa upgrades are almost certain, but the Protectors becoming Toa makes no sense to me. outside of that, i have no guesses.
  19. honestly, i don't think we've seen enough of the G2 story yet to be able to accurately judge whether or not it's too simple. from what we have seen, though, i'd say that it's definitely got a better setup than Hero Factory, and will probably grow to become somewhat more complex than it, thought nowhere near as convoluted as G1. it's honestly pretty close to perfect.
  20. protip: "looks/doesnt look female" is not a legitimate criticism of the new Gali set

  21. the Chronicler's Company are pretty much everyone's eternal choices for Next Toa Team. it just makes sense, and their personalities would make for some interesting dynamics (assuming whoever was writing them didn't screw that up).
  22. i haven't attempted to tell anyone about Bionicle lore since i was a kid. like 2005 or so, and even then it was just my family. i don't usually tell people about things that i know they will find entirely uninteresting and childish. not to mention overly complex, although i'd probably cut a LOT of corners if i were to do so.
  23. i didn't mind clone sets back in the day, because i was a kid and i also didn't know any different. but when the Barraki came along, i realized that i much preferred non-clone sets. it made them more interesting to build, and having pieces unique to each set was much cooler than having the same pieces in six different colours. i do think some of the clone sets (Bohrok, Kal, Rahkshi) were just fine as clones, because those types of creatures are supposed to be nearly identical. but having all the sets be clones is just kind of ridiculous. i would have loved it if the Piraka had varying builds, for instance, or the Toa Hordika.
