  1. Definitely the Toa Nuva and Takanuva - they fought 7 makuta at once
  2. I am very happy with how LEGO handled the reboot so there is not much I would change. I think Generation 2 is close to being a perfect reboot. The only two things I would change are: I would give Bionicle back the Polynesian influences it had in 2001, 2002 and 2003 - less urban development (no cities, smaller and more simple temples) and a more ritualistic and tribal tone. I would focus far more world building towards the individual regions and villages of Okoto, as well as to the protectors and villagers, giving them more individuality, like names or different masks, story, relationships and lore. Other than that I think Generation 2 is pretty much what I would hope for in a reboot
  3. I think your work is awesome. Very nicely done, thank you for posting
  4. It is Ekimu's pet. Looks like it will be packed with the German Bionicle magazine
  5. LOL, I too spent some money today. A few hours ago I bought both of the Bionicle Generation 2 comic books and the second Generation 2 novel in Kindle form from Amazon. Cost me about 15 dollars but was definitely worth it
  6. There are also many positive reports about Bionicle in the United States. Many of them can be found in the "Official New Set Sightings Thread" in this section of the forum
  7. For the 2015 just watch the 18 online episodes on YouTube For 2016. I would recommend watching Journey to One and not clicking on the spoiler tag I posted here. If however you would like to know the story even without watching Journey to One, here it is: Edit - for some strange reasons spoiler tags don't work for me. Couls somebody help me with this? I won't post the text I intended so that I don't accidentally spoil the story of the show for someone
  8. I don't think info from a handful of stores in one town is enough to draw any conclusion about a 7 billion planet, or even a 400 million nation. Even if coupled with the handful of other pessimistic reports, it is just too small of a statistic sample to represent the global, or even nationwide trends of the LEGO company. Additionally, there are also several positive reports, which shed even more doubt on the exclusively pessimistic scenario. I've been working as a telephonic surveyor and to make a survey conclusive we always needed hundreds of surveyed customers of each bank, each insurance company or each internet provider and we are talking about a mere 5 million nation here. To reach a conclusion about the global sales of Bionicle merely from information from stores we would need a huge global survey, (or if limited to the US, a huge nation wide survey). Please don't get me wrong, I believe you and the interviews with the 2 employees you made, however I don't think that they have any statistical conclusiveness on a large, possibly worldwide scale. Also, I think Aanchir and Pohaturon made some very good points
  9. After a lot of lurking I think it is time I share my 2 cents about this issue. Now this will be a longer post so I would like to thank you for your attention if you're reading it in advance. My whole thoughts on this matter, on these possible doomsday scenarios, could more or less be expressed in one sentence: It looks like Bionicle is currently in the same situation as oil. Now I would like to elaborate on this opinion of mine and tell you the longer version of the story: There have been many mixed reports lately - some say Bionicle is doing well, some say it is disappearing from shelves. I made my opinion based on trusting both of these reports - the reports saying all is allright and the reports that are saying something is amiss. The disappearing of Bionicles from shelves points out that Bionicle isn't the hottest LEGO theme out there, however the reports (including reports of top officials posted by Aanchir) saying that Bionicle is “doing well”, clearly suggest that Bionicle isn't dying, so the fears of some people seem to be unfounded. If it's not dying and also not growing, what is happening to it? It is shrinking, but it remains strong - just as oil. Now if it weren't for the oil war between Saudi Arabia and Iran, oil production would be drastically decreased by now in order to combat the dropping oil prices. But despite that, oil isn't dying, it is still a hot commodity and it ain’t going anywhere anytime soon. And the reports about Bionicle sales (both optimistic and pessimistic) seem to suggest that the same is happening to Bionicle. To me it looks like the market for Bionicle is currently smaller for the kind of production they were expecting, but still strong enough to make the line "sell well". Other themes, like Star Wars or Ninjago might be hotter than Bionicle and it makes sense to boost them if LEGO is convinced that the market might be able to handle an increase in their production. Building new factories is a daunting issue and short term trends are not enough to warrant the profitability of building whole new production capacities so the safer way is to decrease the production of less hot lines so that the gained production capacity might be used to increase the production of the hotter line. But that doesn't mean that production of the less hot line should be abandoned. For example: Let us hypothetically assume that LEGO uses 30% of its production capacity to build Bionicles and 70% to build Star Wars sets. Let us assume that the market would be able to handle another 10% of total production capacity worth of Star wars sets, but Bionicles are in lesser demand compared to their production (let's say by 10% of total production capacity). This means that 90% of LEGO products are being sold. In this case it makes sense to cut a third of Bionicle production to a level of 20% and increase the production of Star Wars sets to 80%. By doing this sales of the factory increase to 100%. But does this mean Bionicle is useless? Definitely not! If LEGO would cancel Bionicle and 100% of their production capacity would build Star Wars sets, their profits would actually decrease to 80%. Now this was just a hypothetical example to better explain what I meant with "shrinking, but not dying". Small lines are just as important in maximizing profits as larger are. The sales representatives, who have voiced concerns about the future of Bionicle stocking of shops were low ranking and therefore aware of only the current trends of stocking shops in their area of jurisdiction. Beyond that, they are completely in the dark - only the top LEGO officials and owners know the global trends and business strategies. The owners of large businesses don't get successful by telling low ranking officials absolutely everything - these things work on a need to know basis. So to put the long story short, there is nothing that would indicate that Bionicle is about to die – there is nothing that would indicate that reported decreases in stocking of Bionicles mean its death and not merely its decrease in production
  10. Today I watched Journey to one once again. Now that I have seen the prologue and both episodes 4 times, I think I am ready to put my thoughts on the show here, on the tabl .... I mean on the message board That being said, I am quite struggling to understand why the show received such a negative reception by many forumers here. Now I won't talk about any spoilers or plot twists in this post - instead I'll focus on rating the cinematography (the screenwriting, visuals, music, casting, how it was directed, etc.), the plot setting and how it worked in an overall sense First let us go to the cinematography of the show, an aspect which has been bashed below the ground by many people here. I personally can't understand this bashing because in my opinion the cinematographic aspect of the show was really good. It certainly wasn't a masterpiece, but nevertheless it still was really good and it managed to satisfy my expectations, despite the fact that I considered my expectations to be fairly high. The music was good, so was the voice acting. In particular I would like to praise the visuals - the high detail characters worked well with the low detail enviroment. To me this blend worked very well in creating a "mythical atmosphere" something, which in my opinion fits very well to Bionicle, bet it Generation 1 or 2. The cinematographic aspect that I would praise by far the most however is that the show nearly perfectly obeyed the consistency of Bionicle Generation 2. For example, I love Star Wars Episode 7, however sometimes, especially in fighting scnenes, I was absolutely shocked about how inconsistent it was compared to the first six episodes (though to be fair, Clone Wars was even far more inconsistent), nevertheless Star Wars Episode 7 was an excellent movie. The Journey to One has been consistent in absolutely everything except for switching the personalities of Kopaka and Pohatu. That bothered me a bit, but overall the show remained far more consistent than most movies of large and developed franchises. The directing and screenwriting were good too, though I do think that what was pumped into 2 episodes should have been compiled into 10 to 13 episodes, though that is not a problem of the director and screenwriter - they did a very good job. The problem is that LEGO payed for only 2 episodes, so they weren't able to make more episodes, even though they might have wanted to. That was also the greatest shortcomming of the show - the lack of world building. A lack of world building plagues Generation 2 since it's start. We know a lot about the Toa, n oless than we did in Generation 1, however in Generatione 1 we also knew a lot about the Turaga, Matoran, the wildlife and scenery of Mata Nui and the villages. In Generation 2 we know nothing about the villagers, nothing about the villages, nothing about the countryside of Okoto and only an absolute minimum about the protectors. But this is a broader problem, so it's impact on the show itself isn't as high as my rant above might imply Overall I gave the show 5 stars on Netflix, the highest possible rating. There are shows and movies with which you think that even 5 stars aren't enough. That is not the case of this show, but nevertheless I believe that it deserves 5 stars, that 5 stars are just right for it. But that brings us to the overall rating of this show, in which I disagree with many forumers here the most. The essence of my disagreement can be best demonstrated on this post: Problem is, Journey to One is Bionicle. It isn't Journey to One, it is Bionicle: Journey to One. In my opinion movies should be judged as a whole and not just as sterile manifestations of cinematography. And the Bionicle story is what makes a good piece of cinematography a truly excellent and remarkable show - despite of neglected world building, Generation 2 of Bionicle is still a phenomenal story and setting. Setting is very important, because setting expands on the scenes you see in a movie or a show. And a phenomenal setting plus good, or maybe even very good cinematography make for an excellent show. It isn't a masterpiece, but nevertheless it is excellent and even today, after I saw it for 4 times, I still stand by my decision to give it 5 stars. I continue to be hyped for the next two episodes and in summer I will certainly buy a month of the most basic Netflix program for 8 euros. 8 euros is pretty much the price you pay for a cinema ticket, 3D glasses and a large pack of popcorn. I probably will go watch the next Star Trek movie and maybe the Warcraft movie too, but one thing I know for certain, I'm more hyped for the second half of this season of Journey to One than I am for both of those movies put together (and I certainly am hyped for those movies a lot)
  11. Hey there, thanks for your reply, but the links you posted have a problem - There should be a buy button in the top right part of the book pages you posted. There is such a button on the Revenge of the Skull Spiders Kindle amazon page (it is called "Buy now with 1-click"). The problem is that on the Kindle amazon page of both Island of the Lost Masks and Gathering of the Toa there is no such button - Instead there is a sign reading "This title is not currently available for purchase"
  12. Hey there folks, I have a problem. I've been searching through the net to find a LEGAL site, which would be selling the three Generation 2 books (Island of the lost masks, Revenge of the Skull spiders and Gathering of the Toa) and my success rate was very poor. I found out that Amazon's Kindle can be used on PC too. Now the problem is that Amazon offers only Revenge of the Skull spiders as a Kindle version. The other two books are only offered as physical copies. I searched the Aplle store too, but its ebook version isn't readable on a PC Does anybody know of a place where I could buy Island of the lost masks and Gathering of the Toa as ebooks, readable on a PC? Any help would be greatly appreciated Once more I would like to stress that in this thread I am talking about LEGAL buying of the books, so this thread does not violate BZP policy
  13. This site still exists. Maybe we can find him there? Don't try to contact Mark. Everyone has tried to contact Mark. If he were interested in reaching out to the community again, he would post something on BZP or another fan site. You wouldn't be able to reach him on Mask of Destiny anyway, he isn't there anymore. So what is the curent status of this great quest? Do we have any leads, or is there currently no progress? I agree that swarming possible leads with mails is a bad thing, so if there are any current leads, don't reveal their contact info. Simply knowing that there are active leads is enough knowledge for the fan base to raise some optimism
  14. It's hard to say for sure. The date from the trailer leads me to think that all four episodes will be available March 4th, but reports from Toy Fair say that there will only be two on March 4th, and two more in July. We'll just have to wait and see. The trailer says all episodes will be available on March 4, but notice also that it is labeled "The Journey to One: Season 1." 2 episodes is kind of short for a season, but if it's really being split up like that that is probably what they mean. They probably wouldn't label it Season 1 unless there was more coming later, in any case. From what I know Season one are the four episodes, that have been announced so on the 4th of March they will either release just one episode, or they will release all four episodes of this season. I'd absolutely love if they released the whole season since I plan on using that one free Netflix month to watch the show. I don't watch shows that much so Journey to one will propbably be the only thing I'll watch there
  15. Someone please upload that to youtube. Here are a few screenshots: http://imgur.com/a/IemmK Aside from that, it's mostly the same footage seen in the previous trailer. Since I never used Netflix before I would have one question. The last picture in this imgur link says "All episodes March 4". Does this mean that all 4 episodes of this season will be available on March 4? Thanks in advance for any answer
  16. I wish theyfinally released it for PC. I'd love to play it but I have an old fashioned cell phone
  17. I had the same problem. Chrome doesn't allow me to download anything from Biomediaproject. I use Internet Explorer to download stuff from there. If you have Linux and don't have Internet Explorer you can always try Opera or Firefox or another browser
  18. You could try the Biomediaproject's Local server version of the game. Just like the Built in save version, the Local sevrer version is a downloadable version so you don't need to be connected to the internet while playing. The Local server version didn't give me any virus warnings. It isn't hard to set it up to work properly, just follow the instructions in the ReadMe text file and you should be able to make it work without a problem
  19. Things like these happened to pretty much all of us here. The plastic used is not up to the task of surviving the wrath of time. The only solution for this problem is to rebuild your sets with a more durable material. I rebuilt my sets with steel parts bought at our local iron store. They don't look exactly like the originals, but they do follow the general aesthetics of Bionicle and they can survive a whole milenium
  20. Does anybody have any info on when this is comming up for the PC? I just hope that, just as the Mask of Creation game, this game will be eventually released for PC on the Bionicle web page ........ cause that's my only chance of ever playing it
  21. My absolute Generation 2 favorite is the Mask of Creation, which in my opinion, is the second most beautiful mask in both generations of Bionicle (the most beautiful being the 2001 Great Kanohi Miru) My favorite of 2016 is Tahu's mask, which ranks among the top Bionicle masks of all times as well
  22. Thank you for your kind words! I already listed what I need help with. Basically, even sketches can be a huge help as designing locations from scratch without having any original models is a pain. Especially when you're short on time and budget. If you can you could try and make some basic shapes for rahi parts as I'm in need of Iron wolves but can't make anything good for them. Also, if you're good with enviroment you could throw a few sketches in for some locations that are reformed or your original ones, so we could put that in too. I should be the one thanking you! It was only after seeing that other people (you specifically) shared similar ideas that I picked this thing up again. Your project (despite being cancelled) inspired me and, even tough it won't be as good looking, I really wanna show that fans still care about g1 Bionicle. Tnx 4 showing interest guys, I'll upload some new stuff soon. Currently I am learning level design and design of level content like tables or chairs, but I could focus on Bionicle parts instead if those would be more useful to you. Let me know whether you'd like me to first work on levels or on set parts Though for both I would have one question: 1, Parts - you said that you would like to have Iron wolves in the game. Would you like me to design just the parts themselves or shall I design a whole Iron Wolf? 2, Maps - what kind of environments would you like to see? Rainforests, volcanoes, deserts or something else? I have many ideas for locations but I need to know what aesthetic they should adhere to. Btw, would you like me to make textures too or do you have your own textures that you would like to use?
  23. First of all I'd like to say that your work is awesome and very appreciated. Since I just started learning 3D modelling (after I looked at coding and figured that I would need a Kanohi Vahi to to slow down time if I were to learn to code in my lifetime ) I know how hard it is to make a game. The pics you showed here look very good. If I, as an absolute 3D modeling newbie could help in any way let me know and I'll be happy to help
  24. The posters labeled as "Protectors" are actually posters that show the Protectors, the Toa, AND the Protector+Toa "Powered Up" forms. Example. I don't think it's all that confusing, really. It's still advertising the Protectors, just one specific feature of them — their ability to "power up" that year's Toa. We know. We're joking. Well, that makes sense, then
  25. I really doubt this is a protector. This is Tahu's 2015 combiner set and I think the label as "Protector of fire" is a mere error on the page (like so many other errors we saw there since the Generation 2 Bionicle page was first created). The characters page still shows the protectors to have their old models from 2015. I seriously doubt that the protectors would suddenly be made toa, just like that. It wouldn't be good for the story since the 6 toa that fell from the stars are supposed to be special. Besides, the 2015 toa combiners, labeled there as protectors, don't match the aesthetics of the original protectors the slightest bit - they look nearly exactly like the 2015 toa, which would be extremely confusing if they indeed were protectors. It would pretty much strip all of the 2015 characters from their identity.
