  1. So you went this year??

I wish I could have gone. I'm so close now! :( But the whole going alone thing was a huge turn off too..

(Also can't figure out what the unfortunate complication was since I can't open the links. >_<)

So the links still to work... Don't know how everyone's going to see my pictures then. I guess I'll think of something.

Anyway, the fire alarm went off, so all however-many-thousand people in the building had to evacuate. It was chaotic, but the people I walked with still cracked jokes and weren't too ticked off. That's RT community for ya.

And yeah, going alone had a big impact, more than I personally would have liked, to be honest. I had to much fun at PAX East and I didn't realize how much of that was due to Black Six, Than, WaWa. and the rest of our group until I waited in those lines (about 2 to 3 hours on average).

Still, I'm most likely going to RTX again next year, whether or not I have people to go with.

Did you go to the rvb panel? If so can you pm me details on the episode

Sorry, I didn't make it to that panel.

I was so jealous seeing your tweets about being at RTX!! Glad you had a good time despite all the issues that popped up.

Thanks! I'm mostly just glad I don't have to travel far to go to a PAX-esque convention. RTX has definitely established itself as a worthy venture.

  2. And the Assassin's Creed series just went 75% off...

Yeah, some wallets are gonna be pillaged again today.

Fortunately for me, I'm not the biggest fan of the Assassin's Creed series (couldn't get into the story), so that sale I may be able to resist. In fact, looks like today I might get a day off. I'll have to check the flash sales again tonight though.

  3. Did she lay down any sick puns

Just one, actually, and it wasn't even a painful one. And now I don't even remember what it was (it involved rappelling, which I guess took more of her punergy than expected).

Austin Java! The shirt I gave you! Rooster Teeth! Barbara! Adrian!

There are so many things I love in this photo.

That's one of my favorite Lego shirts, mostly because I can just wear it and everyone recognizes it and I don't have to explain myself.

Oh, are you going to RTX too? That'll be pretty cool, I didn't know anyone from BZP would be attending either. What panels are you planning to go to?

All the Game Grumps and RWBY events are a given. The DEATH BATTLE and Improvisor panels also sound cool, and I have to see the RTAA and industry panels (343 and Bungie). Naturally, I've planned out more than I may be able to attend, but all the ones I just mentioned are my highest priority.

  4. This picture was taken at the Austin Java we went to after watching rappel down the W (it's a 38 story hotel/residential building in downtown Austin).

Also cool that you're also going to RTX this year. I didn't think anyone also from BZP would be attending.

  5. They really did. They kinda filled in what the comics and books failed to in my opinion. What's amazing is that I'm pretty sure Templar didn't even have to go that length. If I remember correctly I think I heard the MNOG was originally supposed to just be a simple little Flash game without that much story importance before the Legend of Mata Nui PC game got cancelled.

  6. @GSR: One of these days I might work up the never to try that.

@HH yeah before i didn't care because I had no idea how troublesome it would make processes like this.

@V1P2 I'm a software engineer and even I was having trouble so yeah, I get how you feel.

@fisher64 I actually used to prefer gmail as it seemed more modern, but I use both interchangeably so often that I now really like both equally

@Tekulo yeah I was actually an early adopter when it first came out, but yeah. Over time I just realized I didn't have much use for it.

    Until now. :P

  7. Awesome ET, congratulations!

One good thing about Austin is that it's not a terribly large city like Houston, Dallas or San Antonio. A drive out into the country isn't that long.

I actually used an apartment locator when I moved to Austin because yeah, apartment hunting is not exactly fun, especially in a hot market like Austin. She'll do research for you and you can spend a day visiting all of the prospects -- there should be enough to make a decision when its all over. I still have her contact information, if you want it, feel free to PM me. :) You can also PM me about any other Austin question too, though I might not know as much as Pat yet.

I will admit that making friends outside of work is extremely hard no matter where you go, so I also suggest using Meetup.com as a resource. It has helped me a little bit.

It be more cooler if it were here in San Antonio. Maybe you can meet Emzee. He's up in Austin there at some company similar to yours.

Who are all these Texan BZPer's I have not known about? Agh?! Thank you, ET, for getting a job down here. I feel a lot less lonely now XP

Yeah you got Flaredrick, TNTOS, myself, and (hopefully) ET for starters. Other people sometimes forget that there's a significant BZP presence down here.

  8. Dude that is awesome, hope I can meet Childish Gambino too someday. Did they let him sign autographs?

Sorry I didn't notice this earlier. No there was no autograph or photo opportunity. He was really just there for the free concert, which was more than enough for me! I love it when the concert experience is so many times better than just listening to it in your car. Live instruments, lights, different inflection in some of the verses. Not all concerts are like that.

  9. What? What did I dooo?

    Oh.

Seriously though, I considered just taking a boxing class for the workout as well. It looks healthy and fun even if you never plan on actually use it. But if you find yourself midnight in downtown, you at least won't be completely unprotected.

Because who avoids downtown on Saturday nights, I mean really?

  10. yeah just gonna' throw in that Frozen hit me hard at a few points... I don't really get the lack of emotion you're suggesting.

    Otherwise I agree.

Part of it is that the darker points didn't really affect me since I knew what they would lead to already and as such the suspense wasn't really there. There's also the siblings thing which, while handled well, was not very relatable to me since there aren't any siblings that I would go to such great lengths to bond with, so to speak. In fact, there were hardly any characters I could relate to, except for maybe the prince. And I don't know how to feel about that. :P

I had the same initial reaction to Frozen until I learned that Idena Menzel did Elsa's voice. I knew from that moment it was a must see. Until I saw it a couple days ago I had already been hooked on the music and even watched some deleted scenes. I loved it long before I even saw it if that's possible.

Had no idea who Idena Menzel was until I put her name into Google. Turns out Frozen is her only performance that I've seen and/or heard. That voice was amazing though, and I had a feeling that she was played by someone well known.

  11. Odd how I forgot about that one considering that's also a route I'm considering for a couple tracks / levels.

Yes, if you have the will and the musical inclination, you could learn how compose your own tracks. I'd say the cons are the same as they are for reaching out to the community, plus the fact that learning to compose, or even if you already know how to write music, producing a soundtrack yourself, can take away even more time from developing or filming your masterpiece.

For me, I quality of the tracks I've made could use a little more work (which I can't put in for various reasons). Besides that, I'd say setting aside as much development time as possible is really important to me.

It's definitely something else for everyone to consider.

And yeah, the site's formatting might still be a little wonky. I was offline for the vast majority of that so I wouldn't know for sure. :P
