  1. I can't believe I did either. See, I would've been more sure about it if I had gotten better advice from a certain someone... =P

  2. The spelling doesn't matter, the implied meaning does. I personally don't think it's that big of a deal -- interest in something like this is periodic, wanes and waxes with the years, people will naturally start to gravitate toward the RPG forum again after some time. Though if you want to speed up that process, sure. I'll help advertise.
  3. Sleeping for longer than eight hours on a weekday sounds like fun.
  4. Don't you hate it when you stab the curtain and accidentally kill your girlfriend's father?
  5. I refuse to call you by your new name until you review my test so I can take more.
  6. Wow. Lady K having the time to write a story? This is unheard of! This calls for a celebration! Or, at least, a review.
  7. Stories are scored out of 5 points total based on how well you matched that week's theme. An extra point is added for advertisement of the Story Fit in your topic or your sig. Reviews of other SF stories are scored out of 3 points. I saw the first time; there's no need to post twice.
  8. For those of you who are reading this entry, I am declaring The Game won. That's it. You've won the game. Victory. No need to go back to playing it. kthxbai!
  9. I personally don't see any difference at all between the two, but I'm just curious: which one do you use, or do you use both or neither (some other image hosting site) for your Bionicle/BZP things? Note: This is not about which is better, just which one you use.
  10. When I wish for things, I wish for things that I can make happen myself. That way my wish is fulfilled and the star method works. Win-win. =D
  11. Doing this for Lazok, my character of four consecutive years. Who are you? What's in a name? -Does the character share the Author's/Player's name? (10 Points.) Different in that I changed my username years later to match said character's. Is your character the leader of a major organization? What is your character? -A Toa (1 Point) -A Toa/Matoran/Rahkshi/Other with powers beyond the norm (5 Points) Developed later through RP What's your character's origin? (Choose all that apply.) -A Matoran turned into a Toa by some other means? (2 Points) Toa Metamorphosis, actually, via Zyrul (The Academy RPG by Dr. Bionicle) EDIT: Note: When I made this character, it was more or less an unspoken requirement that all Toa in the RPG had to have become so through Toa Metamorphosis Does your character undergo any physical or metaphysical transformation in the story or back-story? (i.e., was he something else before?) -Specifically, a Toa/Matoran into a robot/cyborg/similar? (2 Points) mechanical implants due to his legs being gruesomely disfigured What do you do? Tell me, what is your day job? Does your character use some kind of weapon to fight? (Multiple weapons are cumulative.) -Telekinesis (2 Points) -A sword (3 Points) The right stuff -My weapon is huge like a claymore or a rail gun (1 point) Because there's nothing cooler than shooting fire from your fingers. -Does your Toa control a traditional power? (Fire, Earth, Rock, Wind, Water, Ice) (0 Points) What's your mask power? -Matatu(3 Points) From here to there. How does your character move about? -Walks? (0 Points) If your transportation is mechanical, how customized is this thing? Take half Points if you're a Role Player for this next section. All in a day's work -Does the character save other character(s)? (1/2 Point.) Accomplishments: -Does your character die? (1 Point) -Does the character return from death or apparent death? (5 Points per "resurrection") x2 = (10 Points) -With more power than before? (5 Points. This is being generous. Really, this should make for an automatic flunk.) less power actually XP Why do you do it? Tell me about your parents. -Have people close to the character died? (1 Point per death. By close I mean something like a good friend, not an acquaintance) x(...this'll be tough...let's see...9?) = 9 Points Why would you do something like that? Where did you learn to do that? -I was taught by an expert in the field over many years (0 Points) What other kinds of relationships does your character have with established characters, if any? Add the Points up for each character who qualifies. -An acquaintance (0 Points) -A good acquaintance, not quite a friend (0 Points) I fought my rival, and: The below are two separate incidents, each time either on the receiving or dealing end of a Curbstomp. -I lost very badly (0 Points) -I killed him (4 Points) Congratulations! You're finished! Now add up all the Points to see how you did. 53.5 = 26+ Kill it dead. Or make sure you read the instructions properly (some people don't do this, which causes freakishly high scores) and take the test again. =[
  12. I'm sending good vibes your way, Lady K. What Arpy said -- don't worry about the commissions or BZP stuff, we understand.
  13. Just wanna say this before I forget: Preferably have a simple design that doesn't take up the entirety of the shirt. I like room on the shirt to sign names and stuff, and it's just a personal pet peeve of mine not to write on any designs of the shirt.
  14. I is not impressed. Do a better one. j/k great job, editing is tough. =]
  15. ^Love it. Personally I think there should be a few more shades of grey though. You should enter it. =]
  16. People will never agree. Especially not on standards. People will argue about the verdict in a courtroom, the flaws of the SAT in providing a standard for college admissions, even the 'accuracy' of a history textbook that is too left-leaning or right-leaning. When these standards are taken to a national scale, these disagreements become huge as well. And ugly. There is no correct way, no one Truth; at least, even if there is, there are few people who can figure it out in their lifetime. It's impossible in such a short amount of time, with millions of different and unique viewpoints, to set a perfect standard for what should be taught in history classrooms. I do think we should not teach history that is biased, but I also believe we shouldn't make a conscious effort to 'balance the playing field'. All right, so people say we should keep it perfectly in the middle, make sure no one bias pulls our history textbook too far to the left or the right. But how? There will always be biases, and events will never be perfectly recorded. No one can ever tell what every single person directly related to the incident was thinking or what led to their thoughts and actions, much less know what every single person not directly related to the incident was thinking. It's impossible. It's impossible to have a perfectly objective history, a perfectly objective viewpoint, a perfectly objective government. Nor should we try. Yes, some of us have extreme viewpoints on some subjects, but we should not, contrary to what most believe, make a conscious effort to lean toward the other direction. That's lying to yourself and that's something that will fail. Look at affirmative action. Look at where a conscious effort to force ourselves away from race biases to "make things fair" led us. Were things fair? No. But, if we have extremists and we discourage them from trying to push themselves toward the center, what should we do? I believe that rather than force ourselves to believe something we don't believe in, we should instead stay true to our beliefs, but understand that others have other beliefs and be willing to accept them. That's what it means to keep an open mind. Not forcing yourself toward the left or right. Note: On advice from a trusted friend, I have disabled comments for fear of said comments becoming too political in nature. If you have something to say in response, please post a blog entry (keep it within Blog guidelines though) and direct me to it via PM.
  17. Actually I originally had Akai as a Bodybuilder but I moved that rank up. xD
  18. So...who wants all the MIT stuff I bought over the summer that I won't be needing anymore?
  19. Oops, sorry about that MechaFizz. ^^; Fixed. V, it doesn't count for the celebration (since the celebration has to play a somewhat-significant role; setting, plot, etc.), but it does count for the Writer's Block one. Can't wait for the full story. ^^
  20. Our eccentric Emperor, E-Dubya, is organizing a BZPower T-Shirt Project, to be sold at Brickfair and Brick-con this August. Check out EW's blog for more details!

  23. 3/12/10 Story Fit Special For an explanation of what the Story Fit is, please go here. Each week I'll post an exercise. This is the entry for the exercise of the "week" of March 12 - March 23. The Task Story Fit has now hit the two-month (plus two days) mark, and what with the promise of more active SFers and a minor addition to the system, this is the perfect time to go back and redo any of the exercises you missed! That's right, that's all there is to this exercise. You have eleven days (not counting today) plus a week after that to go back and catch up on the exercises you wanted to do. To make this easier on you I have listed the seven previous exercises below. You may click on the links for a more thorough description of the exercises. Week 1: Write a story inspired by the word "Transformation". Week 2: Incorporate a conflict into your story. Week 3: Incorporate a monologue into your story but make it interesting. Week 4: Think of the activity you do to dispel Writer's Block then incorporate that activity into your story. Week 5: Include a celebration into your story. Week 6: Six six-centric tasks to choose from. Week 7: Write a story with the protagonist as a person/type of person you hate most. --- Once you write your story, post here with a link to it. Extra points will also be awarded to those members who review other Story Fit members' stories. This will not only give you practice with writing but also reviewing, as well as promote an exchange of ideas and styles within the BZP Writers Community. Happy writing! Writer of the Week Each week we vote for the Writer of the Week, based on the popularity of the stories submitted during that week. Whoever gets the most votes wins the award. Without further ado, I present this week's Writer of the Week: Grant-Sud, for his six-centric story Sight! Each week we vote for the Writer of the Week, based on the popularity of the stories submitted during that week. Below is a list of stories that have been submitted within the past week. Look over them, read through them if you want, then vote for your favorite story (send a PM with your vote to me). At the end of this week, I will count up the votes and give the Writer of the Week award [of 3/3/10 - 3/12/10] to the writer who gets the most votes. Last Week's Stories 1) Crimson Crown by Akai Hana no Tenshi 2) Ignoble Hero by MechaFizz Vote away! Announcements Now for the changes: - There is now a two week deadline. You have two weeks to complete a task, or one week after the next task starts (for example, 18 days for this task, 14 days for normal tasks). Full-time SFers are required to complete the exercises. - What if you don't have time? Don't worry, sign yourself up as a Part-Time SFer or SFer On Leave: I will be giving further instructions in the PM I am sending out shortly. - Take a look at the Story Fit Point Tracking Box...I've added some decorations.
  24. Just in time too, I was just about to post the new exercise. =]
