I thought the whole point was to do it in a way that can at least be accepted by the canon and avoid retconning? As I'm sure I've mentioned, if we're going to actively go about and change parts of the story we don't like regardless of what makes "sense", there's little point in even bothering to follow any sort of canon in the first place. If you're going to suggest some sort of story revision, it should be supported by facts and evidence and not just "I want this". To me, "Orde exists" is not a strong enough argument to support an active retcon. Orde himself notes that everybody continually pesters him about his gender; would the Piraka not have noticed, even offhand, if the Toa of Plantlife they took out was the only one of its gender? I would think that's a hard thing to ignore, even for people like the Piraka. Plus, as I've said, the idea that we've encountered both rare exceptions (that aren't proven to exist, necessarily) in the vast universe is fairly improbable. I'm all for more inclusive gender representation and diversity, but who would this change be for? I'm loathe to use "the story is dead!" argument, but it has merit here; this sort of fussing is incredibly individual, and only serves to satisfy a minute subset of the population, rather than actively promote a healthy perception of the issue.

The rule has always been that tribes have been monogender, barring "exceptions". We can, of course, make the argument that the Toa mentioned have all been "exceptions", but quite frankly that strains credulity even for BIONICLE, especially since the whole idea of "exceptions" is something Greg only said recently to give himself more wiggle room anyway and avoid this whole debate.

Was the gender mentioned, though? That's what I don't remember. (It's funny--I got the book out for the Plantlife Toa, but I forgot about the PlasmaToa and put it away again. ) yeah, i can assume if it was, it would be a throwaway "he" again, we can say all we want here, but i'm p sure greg is gonna call every background character "he" and it should not be the basis of any discussion. :0 Not taking the author at his (printed, copyrighted, paid for) word isn't enough basis of discussion? Pretty sure that's the only thing keeping this from being relevant. If we didn't take him at his word, asking him to "change" plantlife's gender also wouldn't mean anything.

As far as I know, never, it was just one of those rumors that popped up. Plantlife Toa are very obviously identified as male in the books (well, book) so if we're throwing that out for whatever reason (sorry, "oh the Piraka were just being ignorant" reaaaally doesn't cut it) we might as well give up on whatever loose semblance we're calling the G1 canon.

Ah, the old "it was a typo!" rumor. Been a while since I've heard that one. Good times. Anyway, I support the idea, if not for plantlife since that would be an unnecessary retcon. I keep meaning to go back and see if plasma or gravity have been defined; gravity probably has, but plasma might be doable. What exactly would those "reasons" be? I can't think of any particular reason why female would be a better candidate for plantlife, and a few why it wouldn't be.

I do the same thing, more on principle that whenever you agree with someone it's SO INCREDIBLY BORING. So why not pick a different side? Keep the conversation going, maybe find more depth to an issue, etc.

I have a feeling this is probably the same mask as what's in the activity book coming out, but we'll see. I actually like this more for the packaging than the mask =P. Alternatively, it could see a wider release with a different numbering system, which is what the NYCC mask essentially did. No need to get too riled up just yet.

At this point, we can't run it on the same server without adversely impacting the performance of either. It sucks and we need a better server obviously, but that's unfortunately the one domain I have very little control over. I really really want it back too; there wasn't enough time to finalize a lot of the stuff I was working on, and plenty of images that are just languishing. The ultimate answer is to bug Swert; updating the server or switching or whatever is a decision that'll be made by him.

I need to play the DS version, I only ever played the mobile remix (though I can't imagine it being a better experience). Regardless, great game and amazing soundtrack.

I like the interpretation of celebrating diversity (and not falling into the dangers of recreating the MOUP), but I read it as WAY more literally; the elements may be united as a team, but there are six bearers, end of story =P.

This part always bothers me because Xion and Roxas deserve to be their own person only because of their connectedness to Sora; by the general logic, Axel should be a full entity too, but because we have Lea, nobody really cares. Anyway, the positions of Sora and Xehanort actually reminded me a lot of Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort; the reason Voldemort doesn't win is because he fragmented himself (literally) to get where he is, while Harry draws from the strength of others (often dead people who only exist as parts of his being i.e. the resurrection stone), so there's actually a fair few parallels to draw. Also both of the villains are bald.

By that logic, most of G2 isn't meant to be taken "seriously". Regardless, I think in this instance it's just a poor descriptor. The lines between their adrenaline mode and regular mode are kinda blurry.

Alphamon's super legit, I love mine. Although I am REALLY looking forward to Imperialdramon Paladin Mode.

Doesn't Battle of the Gods acknowledge Pan's existence, though? I'm sure they'll make it work with GT for the most part. I kinda liked GT, although it got pretty silly toward the end (sillier than usual). A new anime is going to be... interesting, but I'll give it a shot.

Turns out the poll was actually meant to tie in with a stats sheet provided by the latest LEGO Club magazine. So it wasn't necessarily just another popularity contest, although the results likely would have been the same. I wonder if this will change the way the votes go at all...

Greg has long since lost/forgotten TSO's name, so don't hold your breath. I'm personally fine with him not having a name. As for the plot developments, what you see is what you get; he did make an alliance with the Barraki, did get his hands on some viruses, and that's about it. Fill in the blanks with imaginaaaation.

"The Okoto", "One of Toa", looks like somebody misplaced the word "The" here. I don't normally nitpick spelling / grammar, but to find two such ones on the official Lego page?? (Oh, I just did a spell check on my post, and I guess "maximise" is also misspelt.) I mean, clearly LoSS wasn't defeated (I'm hoping that he fell into a pit of energized protodermis and will return of Skull Spider Nuva) but still this question seems odd. Unless this does cannonize the fact that the Toa and Protectors can fuse. Those pages usually have a typo or grammatical error somewhere (the previous one made mention of "Tao Tahu" =P) so it's not too surprising. That said, maximise is acceptable in non-American English. Regardless, it isn't actually canon, but hopefully we can do away with the general incessant need for canon for G2 anyway. It's just a fun little poll, despite how BZP's article is worded =P. There's also a weird "club TV" page that's sort of new, but doesn't show anything we haven't seen, and improperly labeled anyway, so I didn't see much point in mentioning it.
