*Growls you all welcome to this entry*

I wanted to wish you all a very happy new year 2009. ^^

And don't listen to the bad news from the TV and the papers. Some positive spirit is what we need right now

*hugs to those who want 'em*

Last draconic entry for the year...and I was just getting used to writing 08 in the dates >_<

Haha! My dad really is cool
He took me to this graphics-hardware store today. And from now on, I shall use my new Cintiq12WX for my colouring and art! Weeeee

Today a friend of our family invited us to come along to a concert held by a band of their friends. ^^ Mostly classic songs, with some stuff straight of the charts ("sweet home alabama all summer long"), but I knew 90% of them anyway and tried to sing along as good a possible with a jaw that opens only 30° -.- But anyway, this was a great way to start the holidays
They played for 4 hours with 5 minute breaks for the smokers every 6 songs or so, during which they let the classic christmas songs sooth the audience ^^
Maybe those are cheesy, but dang, now I am in a holiday mood.

Speaking of holidays, I finished two pictures today, one comissioned by a friend whos in a punkband. He asked me to design their logo as they didn't have a proper one yet.

The second is my obligatory "merry christmas" picture. Yah, the quality isn't that great but I have other stuff to do as well.

Tomorrow I will devote most of my time to a picture that needs to be done on time for a very close friend of mine
I want to thank Silver~Dragon in advance for helping me out a bit with the choice of motive.

And on Monday my dad will take me along to a graphics hardware store to get a new tablet for me ^^ I am thinking Cintiq here *is hyped*

I have to apollogize for my last entry. ^^ I confused my travelling times, I will be here until the 23rd, so I am still around for another week.
Anybody happy about that? Or unhappy?

On the other hand, I just bought my christmas present for my mum. She'll get the two novels "Chemistry of death" and "Written in bone" by author Simon Beckett (Not the villain from PotC ).

I got "Viva la Vida" for my dad, along with the new album by Van Morrison and three DVDs (Hancock, I'm not there and another one).

And I just bought myself the new Prince of Persia. I will have to see if my PC can handle it, but it looks great so far.

There was one of the bargain-bins nearby and I found Command and Conquer:Generals+CnC:Generals-Zero hour as a bundle which I am currently installing. A few years back I borrowed the CD from a friend of mine and it was really a great game I had a lot of fun with.

So, I look forward to another week with you folks and I hope your christmas preperations go as well as mine.

Yay ^^ My very very last exams in Maths and German have come and passed and I think I did a decent job.
So now there only remain 5 subjects to study for from now on, and two of them I can do single-handedly.

No news on Art however. I've been drawing stuff, but not colouring. Might take till the weekend before I decide to do that.

Just little updates. I'll see you guys around

This weekend, me and my family are celebrating two birthdays ^^
First my Grandma, who has reached the age of 80 today and who always had an open door and an open ear for me and who helped make me the person I am.

And my Dad, who will be 53 by tomorrow. He's taught me pretty much everything I know about discipline and without him I wouldn't be here (First physically, secondly he taught me english and without that...)

So congratulations to the both of them

After years of looking at great mocs and wondering weather I should enter in a contest or not, I decided to take a apart some of my sets and actually put something together. And I did.

    The angel of retribution.

I am quite proud of myself now ^^

Yeah...today is a good day to die. Today I really hate myself. And it's even worse because there is no reason for it either.

PS: I am thinking about changing my fontcolour here. Any suggestions? I am tending towards blue.

Ok...maybe it is time for a list of things I am not too fond of here on BZP and why.

And I want to start with my main-grudges right away:
Comedies and Artwork III. Now, I do not want those forums to be gone, but there are things about them that haven gotten so lame they need a wheelchair with NoS boosters to keep up to speed. I remember back in the day there was TKs adventures of Makuta and Takanuva or Dark709's comics, and those were pretty funny for the incoporation of original elements. However, some people propably thought that Pie, Cheese and Cookies are the new "beeing cool in comics" and there was a great disturbance in the force. It felt as if hundreds of voices cried out in unison "D'oh!" before beeing silenced by the new obligatory insane food-addicted sidekicks. Bob, you're not alone. Unfortunately. I think the mental homes of Metru Nui must run out of rubber-clad cells soon. Besides owning a trading store and suddenly beeing raided by a horde of food-addicts more violent then zombies in Evil Dead doesn't sound very promising. One Vahki per food-store...dang, what's the world coming to?
And I am not basing the criticism on any fact from when I checked the AWIII forum regularly 2 years ago, I checked back and the madness is still rampaging. And good comics are hard to spot.

While we are in the comic-cast overused-lameness here: The evil mastermind plus dumb sidekick taking over the comics but failing everytime in a worse way then Arthur Peuty, the original 16-tons Pythons victim. Espescially when the mastermindedness is about either disguising and infiltrating the good guys or kidnapping one of the good guys, mostly the food-addict that nobody will miss anyway. Man you are SO evil. Espescially with that collective heap of unintelligence right next to you who in fact even has a good heart and makes friends among the good guys. Good luck. You won't have any.

The rest of the crew is more or less insane but that diminishes in the unpopularity of those mentioned above.

What else is there? Ah right. Setting: A building. Somewhere. Consisting of a single room. Maybe sitcoms are ok, but they have scenes playing in the kitchen sometimes too! Notice anything?

The comedies forum propably isn't any better. It is the same madness in written form. At least we can maintain eyesight due to the lack of cancer-causing colours, thank Mata Nui.

However, "Ask xxx" is not funny anymore. I doubt that there is any charie left in the Bionicle universe who didn't have to take part in the prose form of Jerry Springer yet. And I find it even more surprising that nobody has died yet through extensive mutilation during a vendetta of humiliated Bionicle villains who don't like beeing made fun of.

Now, on to the next bug that sticks here like a fly to the yellow paperstrips: Sig-fads.
And I am not talking about making tons of sigs for the joker from TDK or new bionicle sets and putting up quotes from movies. I am talking about these reoccuring things like: "ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US!" and "70% of xxx do xxx, if you belong to the 30% of xxx who don't, copy and paste this into your sig."
Let's start with the "All your base...", ok? First thing: I do not have a base. And I don't plan on buying one. Not now, not in the future, not in an alternate reality. And even if I did, I would have put up 40mm grenade launchers to protect it. You wouldn't be anywhere near my base, nor in it, and it belongs to me alone. Besides it doesn't belong to multiple you. You are not many. Unless you are schizophrenic. Tough luck. And I will not consider inviting you inside. Go build your own base.

And then the statistics: Did you know that 100% of sig statistics suck? Yes, it is a developement taking place here. Some years back only 75% sucked but the original users grew out of it. Rap might not be my favourite music either but it is music. Let people listen to it if they like (the poor fools). Also let people who like the Mistika like the Mistika.
Do you seriously think that people who are in an online Bionicle community will stop buying Bionicle because a small part of the online Bionicle community thinks so? Personally I own all the Mistika and all I think is they are cool though TLG could have done a better job with them.
Also, do not belive any statistic that you haven't manipulated yourself.

As we are already among the member fads, lets continue with another big one in S+T. So, there is our poor, spammed by hundreds of questions daily, Greg Farshtey who does a really good job at writing the stories and beeing active here, and yet every word the man says is made into a theory.
Posting a topic like "I think xxx works in x and y way because Greg said xyz in this quote, so it must be true" is not a theory. Did you see NtM's "Matoran universe guide". THAT is a theory, not only based on quotes but on a long time of thinking and figuring out stuff yourself and finding storyline evidence.
And while we speak of that, "I can't tell you about that" doesn't mean Greg is telling you you are right. It means he can't tell you at the moment. It's not a backwards approval of your theory.
And I think after he told us the first time "Matoro will not come back in any way" there is no need for a dozen of "RIP Matoro" and "How Matoro can come back" theories. This is war, charies die, deal with it.
And this didn't only happen with Matoro. Carapar: Dead, lots of topics in the aftermath. Botar: Dead, lots of mourning. The guy only appeared twice in the storyline so far. Like Omi once said: No need to celebrate a charies death like that of a real person. And he most definately is not in heaven alongside JFK, be realistic. It doesn't hurt.

Mentioning Omi leads to my next point of criticism: Praise the mods. They do their job and I am happy they do it well and that it worked out so far. But I see no need to carve every word by B6 into gold. He is a good moderator and admin and what he says is right often, but please stop the moderator-worshipping. I am pretty sure if you told them "OMG you are so awesome" a hundred times in real life just because they attended brickfair you would get snapped at. They are busy people who squeeze BZP and real life under one hat and if I was a Moderator or FA i don't think I would like groupies.
Especially when it comes to news reports. "OMG thanks Moderator xy for that find!" Excuse me. It was a member who found the news and reported them. The mods depend on the community to find news.
And besides, when did the idea occur that beeing the sherrifs' sidekick will get you a promotion? It is perfectly fine mentioning to others that they broke a rule, to link them to the topic with the rules and report a violation. This is helpful and good. Giving tips too. Busting into a topic with your caps-lock-gun cocked and writing "YOU CAN NOT DO THIS IT BREAKS THE RULES" is however, not helpful. It might be considered spam too. Especially when somebody who posted before you mentioned exactly the same thing in the helpful manner above.
Don't play Chuck Norris here, try to be helpful.
PS: Chuck Norris jokes have started to grow a beard as well. And there is no third fist behind it.

My next point on the list are RPGs. Leading one myself and having played in several others I noticed some things I do not really like.
And I am not talking about choices of characters here, that is ok. Most plots are cool too and are real fun to play.
I am talking about the dependency of players on the game-mods. It seems to me, as soon as an RPG Moderator dissapears for a week all action dies down. Even though you might have left tasks. For example in BK I left the players to search Metru Nui for a Matoran beeing chased by some Shadowcreatures because he is going to be important. I gave the setting and the task, but apparently it isn't cool to go and do such a thing as long as I am not babysitting the scavenger hunt. Or I am doing this wrong, I don't know. But it happened in other games as well where I tried to keep things going.
Thats why people are called players: To play. And thats why moderators are called moderators: to Moderate. Keeping the game going is the players task. Throwing them new tasks so that they can do that is the GMs task.
Another thing about RPGs: Naming things. Excuse the mods for not beeing deeply familiar with every MMORPG, tabletop and fantasy game out there. We also are no experts on ancient cultures and weapons. And espescially not on every Anime or Manga in existance.
So not everyone will know what a "Shuriken" is. And I don't feel like looking it up. And spare us describing your charie with foreign words. Just because you watch Naruto it doesn't mean you are a Ninja and can talk like one. Besides I am sure some native speakers will be quite ashamed of the abuse of their langugage.

Enough of RPGs, back to Artwork I.
I know there are a lot of kids on this site. I know there are a lot who are not DaVinci and might not be able to draw art like Nikira does, or colour something in Photoshop like Lyger or work a 3D program like Populus. But a stickman with two eyes and circle for a mouth doesn't make Toa Tahu. It is ok if you get a bit of perspective wrong or if you can only draw 2D. But take a look and notice that just because you have a scanner and know how to use it your stickman turns into a masterpiece. Or to be more fair here, I know art isn't easy, if you post your stickman and accept contructive criticism it is perfectly fine. But don't post your 5-minute instant Tahu and claim Van-Goghs throne.
Oh and by the way: Who are you to judge if someones art is bionicle enough or not? Or accurate enough or not. Who made you head of the storyline team so you can decide what Lariska has to look like and how not? And what is it with the extreme Phobia of female proportions? Take one look at Roodaka and be silent. And don't critizise someones style. Each has his/her own and us artists draw mostly for ourselves, not for you, at least not entirely. If you don't like someones art, go look at something else. (Yeah, I know it applies to me and the stickman as well, but first of all I give constructive criticism, or I keep my mouth shut and do look at something else.)

That's all I can think of now and it is more or less pet-peeves that annoy me and not something big and world-threatening.

So today I went to take my physical examination for the german army (aka, "Bundeswehr"). Rather, I was ordered there. Some people decide not to show up and the MP picks them up at home, so it's better to follow the "invitation". The people (except for the doctor) were all nice there.

Anyway. The examination turned out to classify me as "T2" which is the second best result one can get there. Means I am physically fit and intelligent enough so they want me as a soldier for the reserve army. I still have a choice to do civil service, I haven't decided yet though. Old peoples homes or youth hostels are not something i want to do...
Service would be 9 months (3 months for the grunts, then 6 months in either the airforce, navy or army).
I can voluntarily extend my service, but apparently that is connected to the duty to be in an abroad mission, which means if I stayed in the armed forces longer then 9 months I'd be so lucky to go to Afghanistan, Kosovo or some other nice warzone -.- Currently that's not really something I fancy.
I got some suggestions where they might put me into service if I join: Artillery, Parachute, MP, truckdriver, aircraft maintenance, some office or a plain grunt soldier.

Anyway, so this is the result of today...

On the better side of the news: SNOW! Heck yes! White goodness has finally delivered me from the dull greyness. *fingers crossed for snow on Christmas*

PS: My AC entry is coming along rather nicely and I am espescially fond of my background. I hope i will finish by tomorrow.

This is propably one of the most random entries in my Blog yet. And no, I am in no deep psychological well trying to see the bottom clearly, that is reserved for philosophy class and other times. Before you pity me, just know I am quite happy while typing this and this is just me wanting to ask you (who bother to read my stuff here) something that's been bugging me since I was ten:

Do you pay attention to your surroundings and the people around you?

If yes, you certainly know the following kind of people: Grumpy, slow, uninterested, respectless or plain unfriendly. I am sure everyone propably has seen or knows one of those people. The young guy in baggypants at the bustop blaffing at your for slightly looking in his direction. The old man staring you down because you ride a bycicle on the sidewalk or simply because you are still young. The middleaged lady in the bus murmuring something nasty about you because you have a seat and she doesn't, although she doesn't carry any shopping bags or is pregnant or in any kind entitled to ask you to stand up. These people who walk around and if you meet enough of them in one day they can seriously kill your good mood.
I am pretty sure you can relate.

Why are there so many grey-faced, corners-of-mouth-down people? Is there too much bad weather or is it the time we live in I wonder?

Maybe it is time to spread a little joy people. So if you go out on the street the next time and someone looks at you as if he's got a personal cloud of rain over his/her head, give them a smile, just for the sake of maybe meeting someone who returns it

It's the time of the year where I am part of the small marching group responsible for entertaining little kids with well-known songs about the roman soldier who gave a poor man half of his cloak.
Quite a nice time to have ^^

On the more serious side of life, with the last exams JUST beeing over since a week, the next phase starts again NEXT week -.- Because they shortened the schedule and crammed the stuff of a full year into 3/5 of it. It'll be stressfull until April 4th, then the stud and final period will begin. And around June I will finaly be done with school...it's time for a long holiday after that.

I just wanted to drop a quick entry here to explain a bit of inactivity from my side here.

School was keeping me busy and right now there are some issues that need to be taken care of. I need to get my routine back and increase my sleeping hours.
    Midnight as average doesn't work...
I keep getting late too school ( not missing classes, but usually I am just in after the teacher arrives and at the frequency I hav now it is really bugging my classmates and me the most).
So I might be off earlier from next week on.
I also got my draft notice from the army, I need to ring up my diving instructor, my wisdom teeth will need treatment and I have some stuff I need to do for friends.
My monthly plans are a lot more complex then I thought...-.-

I have officially returned. I will add pictures and one or two videos in the next entry. I had a great vacation but now I am really content to be back here among you folks again. So, hello to everyone who missed me.

    Well hello there ^^

It's me, typing from a small internet cubicle with a ridiculous cold aircondition where 15 minutes of internet cost 5 bucks, letting you guys know that the sun is shining here, the water is warm and I've seen a lot of cool fish already. I found Nemo, so to speak.
    For the record:
    20+ Morays
    10+ Firefish
    4 Seaturtles
    2 Jellyfish
    2 Napoleon
    2 Whitetip Reefsharks
    3 Octupi

And lots of other smaller cool things that swam about. And tomorrow there will be a full-day trip to the "Manta-Point". Name is program there.

So all in all I am enjoying myself and I look forward to seeing you guys again in 1 and a half weeks.

So, this is my last entry for weeks, because I will be off to that little Island paradise I mentioned earlier. My away dates are in my sig for those who need me back asap.
On the other hand I will try to drop you guys a message here...from Dubai. They have free internet on the airport ^^
I will spend my time with some drawing as well. I might put up a teaser later today if I have the time.
So take caare and see you in two weeks.

As some of you might have noticed in my sig, I was abscent for the last weak. The reason for that abscense was the anual graduation major courses school trip (Yes. 6 words for something we have one word for in German.) to some other country.
The destination: Krk on the Island Krk, Croatia.
The journey: 13hours+ in some bus. Which aparrently was concipated exactly in such a way that I was unable to get a decent sleeping position during the night ride. We left last saturday around 10pm and drove over austria through Slowenia only to arrive in Croatia early that afternoon.
The hotel was close to the water and it was nice to hang out there in the evening, but the hotelrooms itself were pretty mediocre, or at least not what I'd expect from a hotel in one of the countries biggest holiday regions.
Anyway, the food was allright, I didn't dare taste the dessert though...it looked creepy, unfortunately they didn't have free drinks included for dinner so we actually had to buy the water.
During the 3 days where we actually stayed on the Island we visited some major locations there, like the city Rijeka and the city Krk it self (it's kind-of pronounced like Cpt. Kirk), I did some minor sketches in my dragon-journeys sketchbook.
On the second day we visited some small village on the mainland, where could test some whine (i didn't like it), some fig booze (holy mother of muffins that stuff burns in the throat.) I am glad I don't like drinking anyway, like I said just testing those things. We also saw what our guide claimed to be the worlds most narrow alley, which was pretty cool to walk through.
On the day after that we saw some other cities, led by a different guide, but I hardly paid attention, since it was boring beeing told about minor details all the time. (Yes, I am not a person interested in the history of every small building in some holiday town.)
The evenings pretty much were the same. Dinner, hanging out with the other classmates and some pool (which I am relatively good at ^^) and then some talking on the rooms or down at the beach, which wasn't really a beach, more like a promenade along the water from which one could directly jump in.
In addition we did a trip with a glass-bottom boat on thursday.
And On friday morning we packed our stuff and drove back to slovenia where we visited the largest cave I have ever been in so far (I must upload the video some time, with indiana jones music behind it, it's pretty cool.)
So, there you know where I was. No internet access there so no word from me.
This week, except for a classtest on tuesday will be about project days where I will be doing portraits of people ^^ I am not sure how this is scheduled yet though exactly, so...need to ask someone for this one as well.

    Important info:
This is the last week before the holidays now though, so any questions for me should be asked within the next 7 to 9 days, before I leave for the beautiful little Island shown two entries below.
