  1. Bought the song Build Me Up Buttercup by the Foundations. Methinks my musical sensibilities might be slightly different from most people in this thread.
  2. Thanks for playing, everyone! I appreciate the feedback; some of my decisions, like the unanimous voting, were supposed to keep the game from being too hard for the rat, but now I realize that they actually made the game too easy. I agree that the game could use some tweaking, but I'm glad y'all enjoyed it, regardless! I'd be interested in making a follow-up but currently I have no plans to do so, so if someone wants to make their own variation they are more than welcome to.
  3. The crooks stood around deliberating. After so much fruitless bloodshed, they had no idea who to pin next. Some suggested Mr. Tan. Others, Mr. Black. They argued for hours, trying desperately to come up with a consensus. To no avail. Just when it seemed they might be getting somewhere, the doors of the warehouse burst open, and in marched a troop of SWAT officers, armed to the teeth with all manner of weaponry. Mr. Lime and Mr. White instinctually pulled out their guns, firing at the police officers. They managed to peg a few before they were brought down. Mr. Tan, bully that he was, whipped out his .44 but was capped almost instantly. The rest quickly surrendered, shaken up by the rapidly decreasing number of crooks around them. The remaining thugs were rounded up and shipped off to a nightmare prison in Zakaz for their violent crimes. And in the end, Mr. Violet received a medal of honor and a promotion for his fine work as the rat.
  4. Neither Mr. Blood nor Mr. Teal were the rat. Both are now deceased.
  5. The remaining crooks poured as much lead as they could into Mr. Silver's body, only to realize too late that he was not the rat either. Round 3 is over. Round 4 begins now and will end Thursday at 10:00am EST. Now that we are in the last round, I think I should clarify: if any mayhem is going to occur, it must occur before the end of the round. Once the round is either burned or you all have settled on a target, the game is over. If you're right about the rat, you win. If you're wrong, you lose. So, if you want to "thin out the ranks," as it were, you must do so before 10:00am EST on Thursday, November 13th.
  6. Round 2 is burned. Round 3 begins now and will end on 9:00am EST on Tuesday morning, November 11.
  7. Bullet casings flew as Mr. Gold was riddled with lead, his blood and brains painting the floor a ghastly shade of red. It was too late that they discovered that Mr. Gold was indeed not the rat. Round 2 begins now and will end at approximately 9:00am EST on Sunday morning, November 9.
  8. The clock is ticking, boys. I for one need to get to bed. Round 1 ends at exactly 1:15am EST. When I get up in the morning I'll see what the final verdict is.
  9. It all comes down to Mr. White. If he changes his vote by approximately 1:00am EST tonight, Mr. Gold dies. If not, he lives and the round is burned.
  10. In order for Mr. Gold to be lynched, Mr. White and Mr. Blue must change their votes and Mr. Tan must not vote contrarily.
  11. As far as I can figure out, this is the voting breakdown. To make things easier in the future, please indicate your vote by writing VOTE in bold, capital letters, followed by the name of your suspect. If you are changing your vote later on, write CHANGE VOTE in bold, capital letters followed by the name of your suspect. Here is the breakdown. As it stands, unless people change their votes by ~1:00am EST tonight, we will have a burnt first round. 1. Voxumo: Master of Fikou (Mr. White) GOLD2. Chro (Mr. Tan)3. Zakaro (Mr. Black) GOLD4. The Rider of Kikanalo (Mr. Blue) GOLD5. Councilor Manducus (Mr. Gold) PINK6. Baltarc (Mr. Violet) GOLD7. Voltex Oblige (Mr. Teal) GOLD8. Ifgtalrop (Mr. Lime) GOLD9. Quisoves Pugnat (Mr. Pink) GOLD10. Gengar (Mr. Silver) GOLD11. Burnmad: Toa of Emoticons (Mr. Blood) GOLD12. An/A Blade (Mrs. Green) GOLD GOLD: 10PINK: 1
  12. If someone shoots someone else, the Gunslingers must bring down the shooter. They don't have any choice; it's instinctual. Also, since I had anticipated inactivity, here's a little addendum to the lynching rule: If a majority of the remaining players vote, and they reach a consensus (the vote of their target is not taken into account), then at the end of the 48 hour period their target is killed. However, if anyone votes contrarily to the consensus, then no one is lynched and the round is burned. So let's say in this case 7 players vote for Mr. Blue. Mr. Blue votes Mr. Pink, but since he is the target his vote is not considered. As it stands, at the end of the 48-hour period Mr. Blue would be lynched. However, if Mr. Gold were to unexpectedly vote for Mr. Blood, then you no longer have unanimity and the round is burned.
  13. Okay, every participant should have received a PM from me detailing your codename, your role, and a brief description of your perspective of the heist. Now that all that business has been taken care of, round 1 can begin. It ends at 1:15 am EST on Friday, November 7, or whenever you guys settle on someone to lynch. Now the game can begin. Get to the debating, accusing, shooting, or whatever it is you plan on doing. Just know that the round only ends when you all have chosen a suspect to kill or when the time expires.
  14. No. Because there are no Gunslingers left to kill them. By the way, I should have clarified this in the first post, but you can't go on a shooting spree. You can only shoot one person per round; and if you do shoot someone and they're not the rat, you're definitely getting capped by a Gunslinger, unless both Gunslingers are dead. And just like that, we have the whole gang together. Listed below is a brief description of the job and everyone's assignments, so you all have a little background on what was supposed to go down. the job: kakua's diamonds The target was Kakua's Diamonds Wholesalers. The owner, Kakua, was a mid-level diamond peddler with little to no pedigree. Normally his shop wouldn't have even been a blip on the radar, but in this instance, his shop was briefly being used as a midway point to store Turaga Dume's personal diamond collection: three beautiful, flawless diamonds, each one larger than a clinched fist. A 50 million widget haul. The diamonds weren't going to be at the shop for longer than a day, so the security was light and, being insured, Kakua and his employees weren't going to sacrifice themselves for the ice. For twelve seasoned armed robbers, it seemed like easy money. Mr. White and Mr. Tan were tasked with disabling the security cameras and the silent alarm system. Mr. Black, Mr. Blue and Mr. Gold were tasked with crowd control: dealing with the patrons of the store and making sure that no one did anything stupid. Mr. Violent, Mr. Teal and Mr. Lime were tasked with finding the store manager, ascertaining the location of the diamonds and acquiring said diamonds. Mr. Pink was tasked with covering the back entrance and making sure no one went in or came out. Mr. Silver and Mr. Blood were parked in a nearby alley with the getaway vehicle: a large, white van with bulletproof windows and reinforced steel plating. Ms. Green was perched on a building on the opposite side of the street, covering the store front with a suppressed sniper rifle.
  15. Tell you what, we just filled up, but I'll add one last spot.
  16. bionicle: reservoir dogs Premise Twelve crooks. One store. Three diamonds. 50 million widgets cash. It was a simple smash and grab. Everyone knew their jobs. Get in, get the goods, get out. Be partying in Xia by the night's end. Then it all went wrong. Less than a minute in, the place was swarming with police. Dozens upon dozens of heroic Toa and their trusted Matoran sidekicks. The eleven blasted their way out of the store, barely escaping with their freedom and whatever diamonds they could lay their hands on. As they regrouped in the designated spot - a warehouse in one of Le-Metru's slums - they all knew what had happened: someone had ratted. And none of them was leaving until they figured out who it was. tl;dr: You are a criminal recovering from a botched robbery. Your aim is to weed out the rat in your midst before the cops get to you. Gameplay When you sign up for the game, I will PM you three things: your role, your codename and what you saw during the botched robbery. Using these things, you will attempt to figure out who the rat is. Unless you are the rat. In which case, you're trying to survive until the police arrive. The game will be very conversational in nature. Players will make in-character posts (designated with the prefix IC:), where they will discuss what they know about what occurred during the botched robbery. Players must then discuss who they think the rat is and come to a consensus. When they've reached unanimity (the vote of their target is not taken into account), they kill that target and then discover whether or not he truly was the rat. If he was the rat, they win. If not, they keep on going. When they make their vote, that is considered the end of a round. If the rat survives four rounds (that is, the robbers make four wrong decisions), or he is the last one standing, he wins. If it takes the robbers more than 48 hours to come up with a decision, then no one is executed and one round is burned. The game is free-flowing and is always in motion. Depending on the role you receive, you might have an active ability (most likely, the ability to shoot another player). You can use this ability at any point, simply by posting in the topic. Take a moment to read through the following list of roles and then consider the gameplay example, which details how a game might go down. Roles Among the eleven robbers (including the rat), there are different roles with different goals and abilities. These goals and abilities affect how the game is played. At the start of the game I will PM each player their role. These roles are secret and should never at any point be disclosed to other players. 1 rat The goal of the rat is to survive five rounds, at which point the police will show up and arrest all the robbers. The rat's special ability is that he can shoot people. 1 professional The goal of the professional is to keep as many of his fellow robbers alive as possible while eliminating the rat as quickly as possible. His special ability is that, in addition to the knowledge he has of what went down, he knows the role of one other player (not the rat). 2 gunslingers The goal of the gunslingers is the same as that of the professional; they want to keep things as clean as possible while weeding out the mole as quickly as possible. Gunslingers have a reactive, protective ability; if a player shoots another player, they will in turn be shot by a gunslinger. Gunslingers cannot actively shoot someone; they can only react when there is a shooting. Just in case it needs to be clarified, gunslingers cannot shoot each other. 1 bully The goal of the bully is to keep as many of the robbers alive as possible while killing the rat as quickly as possible. The bully's special ability is that, once per game, he can force everyone to vote for whoever he wants. 5-6 snakes The goal of the snakes is to get out alive. The snakes do not have special abilities beyond casting their votes. There might be an extra snake on the off chance that the rat and the bully are the same person. 1 wild card The wild card doesn't exactly have a goal. He's more into crime for the fun of it, so he's unpredictable and hard to read. He has the ability to shoot people if he feels like it. 1 opportunist The goal of the opportunist is to be the only robber standing at the end of everything. He wants all the other robbers to die, so even if he has a suspicion about who the real rat is he might support a different verdict simply because he wants his fellow robbers to off each other. The opportunist can shoot people. *Note: I will not be revealing peoples' roles when they die, unless they are the rat. If someone wants to reveal their role postmortem that's up to them, but I won't be doing it. Gameplay Example: The flow of the game is dictated entirely by you, the players. It is very RPG-esque in that regard. Consider the following thread below which shows one possibility of how things might go down. Mr. Teal (gunslinger) I think it's Mr. Pink. Mr. White (professional) I think so too. Mr. Pink (bully) I think we should all vote for Mr. Brown because [somewhat plausible explanation]. *uses special ability* Fighty (moderator) Round 2 is over. Mr. Brown, a snake, has been executed. Mr. Pink (bully) Whoops. Mr. Green (wild card) What a moron. *shoots Mr. Pink* Mr. Teal (gunslinger) How dare you! *shoots Mr. Green* That is how the game might look. Obviously, there's normally more discussion about who the mole might be and less random violence. But you get the idea of how the game might go. Rules: 1. No revealing your role to one another, either in the topic or via PM. If you are the professional and know another person's role, you may never reveal that either. If you are a gunslinger you may not reveal the identity of your fellow gunslinger. 2. Be kind. 3. Have fun. Players: When you sign up, you will be given a codename. Everyone must always be referred to by their codenames. Names in bold red indicate deceased players. 1. Voxumo: Master of Fikou (Mr. White) 2. Chro (Mr. Tan) 3. Zakaro (Mr. Black) 4. The Rider of Kikanalo (Mr. Blue) 5. Councilor Manducus (Mr. Gold) 6. Baltarc (Mr. Violet) 7. Voltex Oblige (Mr. Teal) 8. Ifgtalrop (Mr. Lime) 9. Quisoves Pugnat (Mr. Pink) 10. Gengar (Mr. Silver) 11. Burnmad: Toa of Emoticons (Mr. Blood) 12. An/A Blade (Mrs. Green)

Also a great idea. Not going to lie, that was my original intention. But then, when we were halfway through the draft, I realized that I had brainfarted and that things weakened each other, which was pretty pointless. But it was too late to change it at that point.
  18. I've always wondered what it would be like to play in a Hitman game. Count me in. *in before gruesome murder in round one

I would love to continue it, like I said. But I'm afraid I just don't have the time. If some brave soul does opt to take it over, I have a couple of suggestions for how to do so: - Have another draft, complete with new characters like the Barraki or perhaps some Rahkshi or Glatorians, etc. - Give current teams the option to come back again. If they choose not to come back, put their entire roster back into the draft and have someone else come in to take their place. - Force teams that return to put all but a few (3 or 2) of their players back in the draft. This keeps teams that are currently stacked (*cough* Burnmad, Toarobot *cough*) from continuing their dominance. - Increase maximum roster size and eliminate one-to-one trading. Those are the changes I would make if I had the time. But if someone wants to take over BCL or reboot it and do something completely different that's totally cool.

THE BCL FINALS: GAME THREE RESULTSTA-METRU TAHTORAKS 66 Tahu (16 / +7 / -0) 23Lhikan (11 / +6 / -0) 17Vakama (8 / +5 / -0) 13Jaller (9 / +4 / -0) 13 THE ROBOTIC TOA 70Kopaka (11 / +5 / -0) 16Nuju (12 / +9 / -0) 21Matoro (12 / +5 / -0) 17Kualas (9 / +7 / -0) 16 Recap: It's a testimony to the strength of these two teams that the final matchup of their A-squads was decided by just four points. But in the end, the Ta-Metru Tahtoraks simply couldn't overcome the Robotic Toa, despite a powerhouse performance by Tahu. The Robotic Toa put on a well-balanced offensive effort, with no player scoring fewer than 16 points. Tonight's MVP: Tonight's award is shared by members of both teams; on the one hand, Tahu was completely dominant, scoring a game-high and personal best 23 points. On the other hand, Nuju got more out of his team, with a staggering 9 points in affinity bonuses. As such, these two players will share the MVP award for Game 3. Tonight's LVP: Tonight's award is also a shared one, but unfortunately both recipients played for the same team. Tahu and Lhikan set a blistering pace for the Tahtoraks with 23 and 17 points respectively, but it was a pace that Vakama and Jaller were unable to match, with both of them scoring only 13 points. Tonight's Most Interesting Play: There was nothing particularly unexpected in tonight's game. It was simply pure, unadulterated competition between the best teams in the league. It was a hard-fought match with standout performances and all the thrill we've come to expect from BCL. And at the end of it all, the Robotic Toa have emerged triumphant. Congratulations to this year's BCL Champions! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ THE BCL SEASON-IN-REVIEW With BCL Season One now over and the Robotic Toa crowned champions, it's time to look back at the moments this past season that made us laugh, cry, bite our nails in suspense, etc. To celebrate the conclusion of this year's BCL season, I bring you the BCL Season-In-Review, a compilation of the best this season had to offer. THE BEST TEAM: This goes without saying, but as the 2014 Champions the Robotic Toa receive our pick for this year's Best Team. The Robotic Toa were dominant right out of the gate, scoring 64 points in their season debut. Their four principal players remain the highest-scoring squad in the league. THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: While there were several key players in contention for this award, it ultimately has to go to Matoro. It's worth noting that Matoro's baseline is 5 points. FIVE POINTS. And yet, despite that extremely low baseline Matoro has never had a game in single digits, and twice has scored twenty points or more. Matoro has always been a team player; he's stepped out of the limelight when it was necessary, and he's hoisted his team on his shoulders when they needed it. For his outstanding team chemistry and personal achievements, Matoro is this year's BCL MVP. THE MOST EXCITING GAME: It may be a cop-out to go with the final game of the season, but it was a game with incredibly high stakes that was, essentially, a toss-up. Both teams were able to play their star lineups, and when those lineups had met before the game had been decided by just two points. So, for being an intense, high-stakes game, Game 3 of the Finals receives our award for Most Exciting Game. THE BIGGEST UPSET: It was David v.s. Goliath. Or, more accurately, the Metru-Nui Time Force v.s. the Ta-Metru Tahtoraks. MNTF, a team which stayed mainly in the 40-50 point range, was facing a team that regularly scored 60+ points. And yet, somehow, the Time Force rallied to beat a more-than-competent Tahtoraks squad in the second game of the semifinals. Though they would go on to lose the playoff series, MNTF's improbable win proved that the Tahtoraks weren't untouchable. THE LONGEST STREAK: The Ta-Metru Tahtoraks willed themselves to a 6-game winning streak, and might've gone undefeated had they opted to play in the last game of the season. While two of those wins came off of technicalities, they were wins nonetheless. THE BEST COMEBACK: They had lost their first two games. Their team was struggling to scrounge up points, and they seemed destined for a losing season. But the Oncoming Storm pulled themselves together, and through sheer force of will won four of their next five games before losing to the Metru-Nui Time Force in their wild card play-in game. THE BIGGEST "WHAT-IF?": One game. One game could've turned this season, and the playoffs landscape, on its head. By missing its first game, Team Chryptic was cursed with a losing season and elimination from playoff contention. But, had it played that game, it would've won, and with that win it could've played in a wild card game, and with the right trades and roster moves Team Chryptic could've been a true competitor for the BCL championship. But what may have happened, we will never know. THE BEST SPORTSMANSHIP: It's hard to be the perennial punching bags of the league. It's hard to accept defeat with dignity. But the Enlightened Shadows exhibited stellar sportsmanship every game, even if they couldn't quite come up with a win. They never stopped playing, they never quit, and they always did their best, even in the face of imminent defeat. So that's it, the best of the first season of BCL. I wish I could stick around longer to work on this game more; I certainly enjoyed it but, given the time, there are things that I would definitely tweak and improve. But thank you to all who participated and for the effort and enthusiasm that you put forth for this game. Your passion is what makes me enjoy hosting these games so much, and it's what keeps me coming back.

THE BCL FINALS: GAME TWO RESULTSTA-METRU TAHTORAKS 36 Tahu (13 / +2 / -0) 15Lhikan (12 / +1 / -0) 13Pahrak (4 / +0 / -0) 4Reidak (6 / +0 / -2) 4 THE ROBOTIC TOA 21 Dume (9 / +1 / -0) 10Tahnok (6 / +2 / -0) 8Kohrak (6 / +0 / -3) 3 Recap: Despite a relatively low score turnout, the Tahtoraks managed to crush the Robotic Toa by 15 points, surviving elimination in Game 2. The Tahtoraks' fire starters turned in solid numbers, while Reidak acted as a capable antidote to the Robotic Toa's Kohrak. Tonight's MVP: Tahu, in his Finals debut, led the way for his team's blowout victoy. He led the team both in points and affinity bonuses, scoring a game-high 15 points. Tonight's LVP: By scoring a mild six points, and then losing 3 of those due to his Earth weakness, Kohrak earns tonight's LVP award, scoring a game-low 3 points. Tonight's Most Interesting Play: With some wise roster decisions, Burnmad has put himself in a good position for Game 3. By playing Tahu and Lhikan and resting his other starters, Burnmad has allowed himself to possibly go with an all-fire lineup in Game 3, which could prove devastating, seeing as the Tahtorak's' all-fire squad currently holds the record for second-most points scored in a game (70). The Robotic Toa's all-ice lineup currently holds the number-one spot (77). --------------------------------- Alright, the Finals are knotted up at 1-1! Tomorrow night the BCL Season One Champions will be crowned. Lineups for the final game are due by 12:00am EST, July 26th, 2014.

That was actually my mistake. I simply swapped Vakama and Lhikan's names. In Game 3 of the semifinals, Lhikan's results were supposed to be Vakama's. I even put in Vakama's numbers and everything when running the simulation, but for some reason when they came out I attributed them to Lhikan and not Vakama. So yeah, that was my bad. And just for the record, Lhikan is rested enough that he will be available to play both in Game 2 and (if it's necessary) Game 3.

THE BCL FINALS: GAME ONE RESULTS TA-METRU TAHTORAKS 56 Takanuva (14 / +0 / -0) 14 Lhikan (13 / +3 / -0) 16 Vakama (8 / +3 / -0) 11 Jaller (10 / +5 / -0) 15 THE ROBOTIC TOA 65 Kopaka (11 / +8 / -0) 19 Nuju (12 / +5 / -0) 17 Matoro (8 / +7 / -0) 15 Kualas (7 / +7 / -0) 14 Recap: It was a hard-fought match, but the Robotic Toa ultimately won out, beating the Tahtoraks by nine. It was the Robotic Toa's superb team chemistry that won them the game in the end, with each player averaging ~7 points in affinity bonuses. Tonight's MVP: By scoring a game-high 19 points, thereby propelling his team to victory, Kopaka earns tonight's award. He was just one of several standout performances in tonight's game. Tonight's LVP: It's hard to fault him too much, but Vakama simply didn't show up enough in tonight's game. He notched a game-low 11 points, with only 3 of those coming from affinity bonuses. Tonight's Most Interesting Play: What might be lost in this match is a look at one of its key players: Matoro. Heretofore, Matoro has been a juggernaut for the Robotic Toa, regularly reaching scores in the high teens / low twenties. However, in his first Finals appearance, he had only eight points, with his score being inflated by affinity bonuses. While it may be a fluke, here's hoping this performance isn't marking a downward trend for the young star. ---------------------------------- The Robotic Toa win Game One and take the 1-0 series lead. Lineups for Game 2 of the Finals are due by 12:00am EST on July 25th, 2014.
