  1. These comics are charming, funny and well-crafted, with a pleasant aesthetic. The characters, even after just three comics, have a well-established sense of personality, which is remarkable. Keep up the good work, and I'll be sure to revisit in the future.
  2. Saving Mr. Banks. Best film of 2013 in my opinion. It was equal parts melancholic and hopeful, and was just a beautifully-crafted film. Did anyone else think that 2013 was just a horrible year for blockbuster movies? I mean, I was super-excited about the lineup of triple-A titles going into the year, but most of them fell flat for me. Iron Man 3, Man of Steel, Thor: The Dark World and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug were all particularly disappointing (especially Man of Steel... what a load of rubbish). Catching Fire was the only one that met (and actually exceeded) my expectations, and it stands as the best book-to-movie adaptation I have seen since Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Anyways, here's to hoping that 2014 turns out better.
  3. I am missing sign-up PMs from Pulsating Explosive, Aegon Targaryen, Protalgif, Commander Viral, Freelancer Tex, ShadowVezon and Baltarc. You don't need to send them right away, just don't forget to send them before tomorrow at 4:30pm.
  4. Sorry, the list is deceiving. Registration is still open, but I will close it tomorrow evening at 4:30pm as opposed to Sunday, which is what I had originally said.
  5. THE PREMISE OF THE GAME What is this game about? It has been one year since the Shadowed One bid all of the assassins on his payroll to kill each other, in order to adjust the size of his corporation for an unstable economy. Now the Odinan economy has boomed once more, and the assassination industry is flourishing. And yet, on the anniversary of that bloody game, the Shadowed One has ordered that once again all assassins on his payroll must destroy one another. The reason he claims is so that the weak assassins in his ranks may be weeded out, with only the strongest left alive. But there is a deeper, more self-invested reason for the Shadowed One's revisitation of this bloody tradiiton: the Dark Hunters have been infiltrated by the Order of Mata Nui, and five of the Shadowed One's assassins are really moles on the payroll of Helryx herself. The Shadowed One has designed this game to end those moles and their days of corporate espionage. Any other gory entertainment is just icing on the bloodstained cake. Let the game begin. PLAYING THE GAME What do I do in this game? In this game, you are attempting to assassinate other players. You do this by PMing me with the name of the player you are targeting. You have six weapons in your arsenal to choose from: a Knife, a Gun, Poison, an Explosive, a Sledgehammer, or Wire. In addition to your target's name, you will also PM me the weapon you will use in your assassination attempt. You are not guaranteed a kill. Different assassins have different resistances and weaknesses against different weapons. When signing up for the game, you will PM me a list of all the weapons and correponding numerical values, like so: Knife: 1 Gun: 2 Poison: 3 Explosive: 4 Sledgehammer: 5 Wire: 6 This is your profile. It tells me which weapons you are weak against and which weapons you are strong against. The lower the number, the weaker you are to that form of attack. For example, if someone targeted you with a Wire, I would roll a die. If I rolled a number lower than 6, you would survive. If someone targeted you with Poison, I would roll a die. If I rolled a number lower than 3, you would survive. If someone targeted you with a Knife, you would die instantly, as there is no number on a die lower than 1. Rounds will take place roughly over 24-hour intervals. If you fail to send me the name of a target and a weapon of choice, you will take no action that round. AND NOW FOR THE TWIST: This iteration of Bionicle Hitman isn't called "Lethal Alliance" for no reason. In this game, six of the assassins will really be moles for the Order of Mata Nui. They will know one another's identities, and they may conspire together in an attempt to eliminate all of the other assassins. If the OoMN moles are the only ones left alive at the end of the game, they win and as an added bonus get to assassinate the Shadowed One himself. However, if an assassin kills one of the OoMN moles, he gains a bonus point that he may allocate to any one of his resistances. For example, he may make his '1' resistance a '2', his '3' resistance a '4', or even make his '6' resistance a '7'. These bonuses stack, so if by some miraculous happenstance one assassin kills all 6 OoMN moles, he will have 6 bonus points to allocate as he pleases. Once all applications have been received, I will PM six randomly selected players who will be the moles. What happens when multiple people attack the same target? I will calculate the assassination attempts chronologically. The first person to PM me that target's name will receive 'first dibs' on the assassination attempt. If he fails, the next person will get a shot, and so on. What happens if the last two/three/etc. people all kill each other? There can only be one survivor, so if the last few assassins all kill each other I will reroll. Can moles kill each other? No. SIGNING UP FOR THE GAME What do I need to do to be able to play? To sign up, state that you are signing up by posting in this topic, and then PM me the following list of weapons with corresponding numerical values 1-6. You choose which weapons you are resistant to and which weapons you are vulnerable to. Knife: Gun: Poison: Explosive: Sledgehammer: Wire: PAYROLL These are your fellow assassins. Eliminated assassins are designated in red. Eliminated moles are designated in blue. 1. Pupwa21 2. Chro 3. The Dapper Man 4. A Vox in a Box 5. SHADOWHAWK 6. Pulsating Explosive 7. Aegon Targaryen 8. Toa Lhikevikk 9. Zero: Maverick Hunter 10. Punished Snake 11. Burnmad: Toa of Emoticons 12. Protalgif 13. Commander Viral 14. Freelancer Tex 15. Unit#phntk#1 16. Regenerated ShadowVezon 17. Null. 18. Baltarc 19. Norik of Gielinor Registration closes Saturday, January 25th at 4:30pm. RULES What must I do and not do? 1. No changing targets. I will accept the first PM you send me, and will ignore any others you send in an attempt to switch your target. 2. No complaining about outcomes. I am not biased; I am genuinely just rolling a die. This game is a little bit of strategy with a whole lot of luck. 3. Have fun!
  6. Icepick was a substitution for a knife, per Vox's request. And yes, Hitman II will be in this topic, posted very soon.
  7. The Final Round Summary The Shadowed One's throne room had been entirely vacated but for the two assassins and the Shadowed One himself, who stood perched on his throne overlooking the remaining contestants. On the eastern side of the throne room stood Vox, eyeing his opponent with a look of equal parts loathing and ire. From the western side, Chro nonchalantly assessed his nemesis, whisking away the remaining ash and gunpowder from his brow from the last round. The two stared at each other. No words. The Shadowed One dropped his scepter and the fighting commenced. Vox began walking towards Chro, his pace measured and his gaze unwavering. Chro folded his arms, seeming rather amused by Vox's singlemindedness. As soon as Vox crossed over the center of the throne room Chro unclenched his left fist, dropping a detonator to the ground. A landmine that had been inconspicuously concealed under the floor erupted, sending a cascade of fire and molten asphalt rocketing to the ceiling. The conflagration completely engulfed Vox, and the room filled with smoke. Chro turned towards the Shadowed One, a look of expectation on his face. "Well?" he asked. And just like that, Vox emerged from the smoke and drove an icepick into Chro's skull. "That was for Shadowhawk," Vox whispered into the ear of Chro's twitching corpse as it dropped to the ground. Silence fell on the throne room as the smoke cleared and Vox stood triumphant over his foe. The game was over. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- tl;dr: Congratulations to Vox, the first champion of Bionicle Hitman. Hitman II: Lethal Alliance will be posted shortly and registration for that will close this Sunday at 4:30pm.
  8. Waiting on Vox. The end is nigh.
  9. Remember that as soon as y'all PM me the round is over. This ends whenever you want it to.
  10. Sanctuary, Gangs of Metru Nui and the Legend of the Thirteenth Island.
  11. Spirits of the Ice, Condemned and City of the Lost.
  12. Thanks to everyone for sending their PMs in such a speedy fashion. Round 3 has concluded, and here are the results. Round 3 Summary The Shadowed One's carnage continued last night as the four remaining assassins faced each other in Odina's main square for an epic showdown. Unbeknownst to the other assassins, and perhaps even to each other, Vox and Shadowhawk had formed a lethal alliance with one victim in mind: Chro. Spying their target across a crowded intersection, Vox removed the pin from his fragmentary grenade and let it fly. Chro, spying the pyrotechnic projectile as it sliced through the air, dove behind a hot dog stand just in time. The ensuing explosion of flame and italian sausage eviscerated the entire street corner, but somehow Chro remained unharmed. Coolly donning his aviator sunglasses, Chro began slowly walking across the street, his gaze fixed upon his two assailants. Shadowhawk deftly picked up his RPG-7 and launched a miniature warhead straight at Chro's feet. Jumping off his left foot, Chro launched himself into the air and the rocket sailed directly underneath him, igniting the busy intersection that he was casually strolling through. Chro landed on the ground and straightened the lapels of his suit, unfazed. The allied assassins stared at each other, astounded by Chro's resilience to their explosive attacks. Chro, in response, picked up his sledgehammer and threw it with all his might at his two would-be hitmen. The two turned to run, but unfortunately Shadowhawk ran straight into the sledgehammer of Pulsating Explosive, who had been lying in wait. However, Pulsating Explosive only had a moment to relish his kill before Chro's own sledgehammer pulverized his abdomen. All of the commotion had given Vox just enough time to get away. Chro, still standing in the middle of the intersection, laughed and lit a cigarette as the street corner blazed behind him.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------tl;dr: Shadowhawk and Pulsating Explosive are dead. Vox and Chro remain alive. The fourth and final round begins now and will end Saturday at 9:30am.
  13. Oh, btw, Pupwa, you can be killed by anything. In order to survive, I must roll a number lower than the one you have assigned to that weapon. So if you have a 6 for the knife, you would survive if I rolled a 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. Unfortunately, I rolled a six, and thus you died.
  14. That's kind of the point. Like Vox said, this game is designed to be fun and fast-paced. I may make some changes for Hitman 2 (which will be in this same topic), but the core formula will remain the same.
  15. Remember that if your assassination attempt does not appear below, it's because your target was already eliminated by another assassin. Round 2 Summary Pupwa21 kicked off the night's bloodshed, albeit in his own sneaky, subversive style. Knowing the Dapper Man to be a purveyor of fine wineries (as all good dapper men are), Pupwa21 spiked the '74 merlot with a healthy dose of cyanide. The Dapper Man took a sip, and realized all too late his mistake. In his death throes he lashed out at Pupwa21 with a knife, but narrowly missed him. Pupwa21, while at the winery, decided to help himself to the winery's extensive catalog of cheeses. Noticing a fine brie which looked delectable, he asked the attendant if he could have a knife to try a slice. The attendant, Shadowhawk, obliged by gently shoving a butter knife through Pupwa's occipital lobe. In another part of town, Pulsating Explosive had decided to try to relax by engaging in a calming game of ten-pin bowling. As he lined up in an attempt to rectify a seven-ten split, Pulsating Explosive noticed a Vox in a Box creeping towards him out of the corner of his eye. Pulsating Explosive swung his 45-lb bowling ball towards Vox's outstretched hand and knocked the exposed switchblade right out of it. The two stared at each other awkwardly until Vox slinked back, embarrassed, into the shadows. Shaking his head, Pulsating Explosive sauntered nonchalantly up to the bar to catch a glimpse of the Kolhii playoffs. Turning his head, he noticed Burnmad sitting at the bar, ingesting a triple-order of jumbo nachos. Disgusted by Burnmad and his high-cholestorel food choices, Pulsating Explosive promptly strangled him with a wire and left his corpse facedown in a mess of queso and tortilla chips. From across the bowling alley, Unit#phntk#1 noticed the kill and let out a sharp laugh. Annoyed by the pitch and duration of Unit's laugh, Chro shot him in the spleen without a second's hesitation. And since all the assassins had engaged in the game, the attendance for the second screening of the LEGO Movie was dramatically reduced. Let's hope that doesn't hurt the movie's performance at the box office.----------------------------------------------------------tl;dr: Unit#phntk#1, Burnmad, Pupwa21, and The Dapper Man have all been assassinated. A Vox in a Box, Pulsating Explosive, Shadowhawk and Chro remain. Round 3 begins now and will conclude on Thursday at 8:30pm.
  16. Just wanted to let y'all know that I have received all necessary PMs and thus will be posting results later tonight rather than tomorrow afternoon. Four were killed this round, and so four remain to wreak havoc in round 3.
  17. Note: If your assassination attempt wasn't recorded, it is probably because the person you targeted had already been murdered by someone else. Last night the Shadowed One's grisly game of corporate downsizing began, with fourteen of his most skilled assassins gathering in Odina to prove their mettle. Aegon Targaryen kicked off the carnage, using his powers of stealth and misdirection to sneak up behind ShadowVezon and strangle him with a wire. After his cold-blooded killing of his former colleague. Aegon decided to pick up some donuts from a convenience store as a self-congratulatory reward for his murderous prowess. As he opened up his beloved box of Kanohi Kremes, he noticed strange machinery inside, and quickly threw the box away and it exploded mere moments later. From a distance, Pulsating Explosive shook his head, disappointed that his attempt to incinerate Aegon had failed. Since he had both committed a murder and avoided one, Aegon was feeling very confident and decided to whistle a happy tune as he walked fearlessly down Odina's main street. His happy tune was cut short as his lungs were deflated by Shadowhawk's knife, which Shadowhawk had sneakily slipped between Aegon's ribs. Shadowhawk, satisfied by the kill, took a victorious swig from the flask of bourbon he kept in his right pocket. Detecting an uncharacteristic hint of sweetness, he spat it out and threw away the bottle, supposing it had simply gone bad. Little did he know that he had narrowly avoided being poisoned by Freelancer Tex, who watched disappointedly from the shadows. Feeling dejected that his skills of assassination were not as sharp as they had used to be, Freelancer Tex took his sorrows to the local saloon, where he ordered a keg of lager and a half-order of Tahtorak ribs. As he sat back in his chair, waiting for his food, he heard an electronic beeping coming from underneath him. He peered under his chair just in time to see a plastic explosive rigged to it. He dove out of harm's way just in time as his chair was reduced to a pile of fiery splinters. From a smoky corner of the saloon, Unit#phntk#1 shook his head in disgust, vowing to do better next time. Tex, quite shaken by his brush with death, decided to leave the saloon prematurely. As he walked out of the saloon doors, he was immediately shot in the face six times by Punished Snake, who had been waiting for him underneath a cardboard box. Punished Snake popped out from underneath his cardboard box, a look of grim satisfaction on his chiseled face. This look became grotesquely distorted when Chro walked up behind him and broke his throat with a wire. Meanwhile, in another part of town, Norik of Gielinor was walking around, minding his own business, when suddenly his face met the business end of a sledgehammer that had been swung by Null. Norik's brain went flying through the back of his skull, up and over Odina's main square, and landed right in the eighteenth hole of a putt putt establishment over a mile away. Null only had a moment to savor his miraculous shot before A Vox in a Box's cross-map throwing knife landed squarely in his eye. Pupwa21, impressed by Null's shot, attempted to replicate it using his own sledgehammer and the Dapper Man's face. Unfortunately the Dapper Man had also witnessed Null's shot and had more than enough time to dodge Pupwa's swing. Meanwhile, the rest of the assassins had gone to see an advance screening of "The LEGO Movie" at the local cinema and had quite forgotten that there was any type of game going on at all.-------------------------------------------------------tl;dr: ShadowVezon, Aegon Targaryen, Freelancer Tex, Punished Snake, Norik and Null have all been assassinated. Round 2 begins now and will end this Wednesday at 4:30pm.
  18. To the several of you who asked me via PM, yes you can simple reuse the same PM thread for your targets rather than sending multiple PMs. I would actually prefer that. And with a little under an hour left, I'm still missing PMs from a few people. I can tell you all, though, it's been a bloody night, with six kills confirmed already. Once 4:30pm rolls around, I will post a detailed list of all assassinations, as well as failed assassination attempts.
  19. Registration is closed. The game is afoot. Here we go. Round 1 commences now. PM me with the name of your target and your weapon of choice. And, due to my adjusted schedule, this round will last until Monday at 4:30pm rather than ending tomorrow at 4:30pm. But, anyways... let the mayhem begin!
  20. I'm so happy this is still around. Apparently I left the Bionifight series in good hands.
  21. Sorry if the guidelines were a little bit confusing. You must use the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 on the various weapons to insure fairness. Having multiple of any number would make the game unfair. This way, every assassin is on equal footing, but each has different resistances and weaknesses.
  22. As long as you PM by 4:30pm on Saturday you'll be fine. And spot 11 is yours.
  23. Your profile stays consistent throughout the entire game. Choose wisely. And @Null: fan of Chuck? I am pleased.
  24. The current game is Hitman 3: Assassin Olympics, which you may find here. BIONICLE HITMAN THE PREMISE OF THE GAMEWhat is this game about? The premise is simple. You are a Dark Hunter, trained in the classic art of assassination. Since the Odinan economy has fallen on hard times, the Shadowed One has found it necessary to downsize the Dark Hunters' operations, resulting in some necessary layoffs. To determine who stays and who dies, the Shadowed One has organized a game of sorts. All of the assassins currently on his payroll must attempt to eliminate one another. The one assassin left alive at the end of the carnage gets to keep his or her job, and will receive a substantial pay raise. Let the game begin. PLAYING THE GAMEWhat do I do in this game?
