  1. I was also tempted to keep it. It's charming. ^^
  2. Ah idk I don't want to always just post every single redesign of my char to GA, that feels kinda spammy. So I'll just leave the sketch here. Actually I was out for some urban sketching yesterday, but after finding out that BZPower is back up - let's say I was inspired, and that happens so rarely these days that I let myself get distracted About the sketch itself, it was as always done in ballpoint pen, because I actually like that better than the regular pencil these days. ^^' Doesn't smudge so much in the sketchbook, and I don't "have to" do lineart. Of course, all mistakes are also permanent. But that's something I can live with. ^^ --- small addendum: I just kinda wish my 13-year-old self could see what my art looks like these days. I think she'd be pleased - even if the new design isn't edgy enough xD By far.
  3. Spider and the Fly (Acoustic) - London After Midnight
  4. oh no, calculators D: I had to do most stuff without them in Physics and honestly?, after the initial learning curve it's so much easier. ^^' (but maybe that's because I seem to have a talent for always making mistakes while typing.) Graphic novels and comic books? That's really cool! Awesome! What's your character like?
  5. I mean for me it was a mixture of the sets being kinda build-one-and-you've-built-them-all (also, no gears. That was sad.) and a world that was somehow less immersive? Even though I only barely scraped the surface of G1 lore, it was amazing that there was this rich, complex story world. The web serial for G2 was cute, but in comparison the world-building felt kind of flat. And despite everything, here I am, eagerly awaiting G3, if it ever comes to be.
  6. Ooh I like this. Both the concept and the artwork itself - the blue energy glow looks really cool. (and the gears -are- turning! That's a nice detail)
  7. It's not just nostalgia for me - in a way, this place is my "internet home", and has been for so many years, now... I also really like the slower pace of forums.
  8. Huh, that's good to know! (actually, I am delighted, but trying to play it cool. Working? I doubt it.) What have I been up to in the meantime? Mostly on holidays, and preparing for the new semster, as I decided to go back to uni - this time studying informatics. After all, I did pass the entrance exam, and may actually be able to skip some basic math lectures. That would be great. Oh yes, and I am playing Pathfinder with a group of friends now, dunno if I already mentioned it before. So overall, things are looking up. How have you all been?
  9. oh no this place looks so modern now :<

    Throwback

to what IMO is the funniest thing I've ever drawn :] ... can't get over the fact that this drawing is 11 years old at this point. Time flies D:
  11. Dunno about you people, but I really miss the heydays of BZPower (or rather, the way it was around 2008 when I joined, which as far as I've heard wasn't even the 'real' heyday??), when this place was just buzzing with activity... Nostalgia is strong today. :/
  12. Thank you! They were fun to design, too. =D It's been a while since I last actually referenced the actual set, and not just drew from what I thought I remembered about it... Aw, thanks! (and thanks for the feedback!) Glad you like it. Tbh the rough patches are probably because I tend to be a little bit too sloppy with the lineart sometimes... I'm more used to the 'the line is the way it is' approach from traditional art - but now that you pointed it out I see it too, definitely something I should keep an eye on in the future. ... yeah, I definitely messed up with the foreshortening on the right (seen as left) arm. ^^' The other one is fine, I think.

    amazing...

Thanks! (I'll need it ^^) Well that's really cool for you! I know some people who are studying informatics here, and I see them doing an awful lot of programming, also with different languages and stuff, so I think I'd get the necessary practise. (I mean, I am capable of basic programming and scripting stuffs, but I'd love to acquire proper skills.) I feel you. Living in a cabin somewhere removed from everything sounds like a great plan... also, might work with some art freelancing, as long as I have some sort of internet access... ^^

    amazing...

I realized I am skilled at many things, but none are needed in the current job market (I am not a programmer. I should be a programmer. People only seem to want programmers these days). Furthermore, at the same time I am overqualified for regular small jobs. This is not fun. :< So yeah the plan is now to study informatics (and learn programming :> ) and at the same time find something to financially support myself enough to get by somehow.
  15. After what feels like a century, I actually posted a new BIONICLE artwork! :D

  16. [original sketch] | [Lineart] Long time no see! Felt like drawing something BIONICLE-related again after what must have been... months? (even if you do count the odd sketchbook scribble). And who would make for a better motive than the one and only Roodaka? =D I actually went and grabbed the old set to reference (I mean obviously, I took some artistic liberties, as always), but tried to make the design my own. She didn't turn out quite as menacing as I had originally intended, but I am nonetheless happy with the outcome. It's a digital artwork because I liked the original sketch too much to ink it. Comments and criticism are most welcome and appreciated, as always! :]
  17. These days I mostly just play Duel Links... but! I also have a run of Star Wars Knights of the old republic going on. And it's fun, playing sorta dark side, but not quite, because I am not that evil. But the morality makes a bit more sense than in... idk, Fable. xD It's fun, though.
  18. Writing that past entry brought some things into perspective for me, and after some thinking... I'm quitting that doctorate for good. Wasn't worth it, I never had any useful results and mostly just suffered? So, now the next scary thing will be finding a job. And when I say scary, I mean scary. At least I will still be working in my previous job until end of may or so.
  19. Hey, long time no see! Hm. Well there are a few things you can do! Whenever I feel stuck I normally try and use the time for practising - e.g. draw hands/feet (from memory, then from reference, then I compare them and see where my construction goes wrong). Alternatively, you can switch up the media you use - sometimes that brings new ideas. What I also found challenging (positively) was asking someone, like a family member, for a drawing prompt. Online prompts never worked for me, but this version does. On topic: you could set yourself a design challenge - draw a demon with antlers, but keep the rest of the design as little clichè as possible. Maybe some of this helps. If not, don't despair, just keep at it, eventually you will get back into "the zone".
