  1. In Hero Factory, we only have a small amount of Mask/Helmet that are recolor (not counting the 2.0 heroes, if it didn't have black and silver) So i like to know out of all the HF Mask/Helmet, what mask do you want to see recolor and in what color. My be the Brain Attack Evo Mask recolor in black because it look amazing and 1.0 furno mask in purple because we have gotten some purple but not a purple mask.
  2. The old topic died out (as I didn't really keep up with it once summer started). Sorry if this is too early to post again. How this will work: I am basing the price off of what I originally payed (or what the original set price would be). I am willing to discuss however. Tell me if you’d like it completely disassembled or partially disassembled (what most of them are now) I will tape up the box after ensuring I’m sending you a set with everything it came with initially Message me your address and I will tell you what shipping will be with or without a tracking number I will only ship after receiving payment Why am I selling? I got into Bionicle late in the game, around 2007 where 06 sets were on clearance. Since then, I've been buying pretty much every set. The sets mentioned below only make up a little less than half of my collection. Unfortunately, my parents refuse to believe that a junior in college should still hold onto their 'childhood interests' and are forcing me to either keep them either in storage or figure something else out. I wholeheartedly do not want all the sets that made up my childhood to be collecting dust in the basement and more so the trash. I am trying to sell all of the sets listed below because of space, parents, and the fact that they'll go to a better home than I can provide. Prices listed are what I originally paid for them and that's what I'd prefer to sell them for. 3. My entry for a "Before & After Brain Infection" contest on another site. I built both models with the help of my twin brother Lyichir. In their natural form, Koboldon are tunnel goblins with a diet of metallic ore, which they mine for with their powerful, shovel-like claws. They are reclusive, but generally not aggressive. But once the evil brains landed on their home planet, many were mutated into grotesque, hulking fiends that burrow beneath cities, reducing buildings and infrastructure to rubble. Can any hero stand up to the might of Koboldon's radioactive power claw? More pictures: About the MOC: Lyichir and I came up with the foot design for a much larger model a few months ago, and we decided a bestial foot design like this would be perfect for this contest. The head was designed in an effort to create a brain-infected head that looked as detailed and fearsome as any of the official 2013 villain faceplates, but which had a unique character of its own. Lyichir had the idea to use Transparent Bright Green (the same color as the brain) to highlight areas most heavily affected by the mutation, and I designed the power claw with that in mind.Comments, questions, and criticism are welcome! Hope you enjoy this MOC! Edit: Second image was a good bit over the file size limit of 100 kB, so I replaced it with one of the next smallest size. -Wind-
  4. DirectLink First Hero Factory drawing I ever did. Medium: Warm Grey/Cool Grey Copic Markers, White and Black Prismacolor Pencils, White Gel Pen on Gray Toned Paper
  5. http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/33550 Check out this idea from Lego Cuusoo based on the Bionicle and Hero Factory construction themes. It has an original story and original characters, so go check it out. Not sure what section to put this topic in, so maybe a moderator could move it?
  6. What parts from Bionicle do you want to see again in Hero Factor and do you want to see it in a different color. My is the Great Kanohi Huna but i like to see it in blue and/or green and the Gali Mistika upper arm armor.
  7. I just discovered this idea on Cuusoo, and I didn't know if anybody here was aware of it or not. Somebody came up with the idea of having Hero Factory mask packs, just like the old Bionicle packs we know and love. I think this is a pretty great idea, and I'm not even a Hero Factory fan. What do you guys think? Here's the link: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/18545# Sorry, I just realized I should have put this in Lego Discussion. Could someone move this over there if you see it? Thanks
  8. We have the skeleton body build from 2011 to now and i was thinking of what you guys think about the skeleton. The parts of the skeleton are great and the hero (not the xl) is easy for a lot of people to build but it is starting to get old, we seen a lot of recolor and some old part brought back but not a lot of new stuff and the build is not evolving. (Oh boy time for some history) In Bionicle the Toa's was evolving from 2002 to 2006 then mostly stay with both inika ,piraka and another body that pohatu and kongu have (but with differnt limbs) build from 2007 to 2008 (plus with the villains body in 2008) , then with the glatorian they just stay with the inika body in 2009. In 2010 with the stars we got the Matoran body plus with the Matorans they was evolving from 2001 to 2008. (Now time for Hero Factory) In 2010 with the Lego new Hero Factory they gotten new body plus with the villains they added Bionicle parts in the villains, Then in 2011 we gotten the new skeleton build and LEGO made great build with it in 2011 Savage Planet. Then in 2012 to 2013 they still use the skeleton build. To me it is starting to get old and i do think they should evolve to something new. So what do you think about the skeleton.
  9. Lately I've been thinking a lot about the Hero Factory building system and its commonly-perceived flaws. Chief among these is the allegation that the builds are too repetitive. It's kind of funny to read this because frankly this was a major criticism of BIONICLE builds for many years as well, and it was far from rare even when people weren't complaining about it. Remember Inika builds? They were the default build from 2006-2009, and many people really and truly hated the repetition. But repetition in BIONICLE builds goes back even further than that. The same basic canister set leg design (foot + ball cup + lower leg beam + upper leg beam + upper leg shell) was the order of the day from 2004-2009, and in 2006 the arm construction was also changed to this default style. It could be argued quite convincingly that all but a small handful of BIONICLE canister sets (specifically Gorast, Krika, and the Visorak) from 2004-2009 were functionally identical from the waist down. But what about torsos, one might ask? BIONICLE fans have always had a somewhat bizarre preoccupation with the torso. A new torso construction is tantamount to a new build altogether. And in fact, sets like Carapar or Mistika Toa Onua who have a new torso piece, but the same torso construction as before, tend to get a lot more leeway than those that reuse an existing torso shell. Oddly enough, prior to 2007, it was rare for any sets in a canister set or small set series to have any meaningful differences in torso build between one another. Only Pohatu in his first two forms had any meaningful difference in torso construction from his teammates. But Hero Factory models, despite using the same two torso beams in most cases, have mixed up the torso build considerably over the past few years. Small and medium hero sets generally have a very simple torso build, but when villains are brought into the equation, we have figures like Toxic Reapa, whose armor style is completely unique to him, Jawblade, whose torso construction is integrated with his jaw and is decidedly non-humanoid, Thornraxx, who does not even use a traditional torso beam, XT4, who introduced an entirely new torso beam, and of course the villain sets of the Savage Planet arc, of which only one (Waspix) had a traditional armor style. This year, we see even more variations as Technic is incorporated into the builds to a greater extent than before. The same question springs to mind with this issue as in the days of the Inika builds. If you are so bored of repetitive builds, what better design can you come up with to replace them? Generally, this is where complaints about repetition tend to fall apart. People don't want something better, they just want something different. The issue is that variety for variety's sake is one reason BIONICLE stopped being financially viable over the years, and generally a torso element that varied considerably from the default humanoid torso design was obsolete within a couple years. Look at the various Vahki, Rahkshi, and Visorak torso pieces as examples. Most had very limited use outside of the function they were intended to support. They could be incorporated into more unique builds given a disproportionate amount of effort, but on the whole they were simply more limited in their application than the more generic humanoid torso elements. The Inika build lasted so long partly because the Inika torso had extremely versatile connection points, a flat, unobtrusive design that allowed it to work with many styles of armor, the potential to work with sets of various sizes, and very little extraneous detail that would become visual shorthand for a particular series of sets. Very few other torso designs could boast this kind of versatility. Similarly, the current Hero Factory torso beams offer most of these same benefits. I can think of one major improvement that would benefit Hero Factory sets these days, just as it would have benefited BIONICLE sets: the implementation of waist articulation, with separate armor shells for the upper and lower torso. It's not a desperate need, but it'd greatly improve the number of realistic and expressive poses a Hero Factory figure could be put into. But it's understandable that this may be a long time coming. The only BIONICLE canister set to offer full waist articulation, Pridak, demonstrated one weakness that comes with this added feature: an extra point of articulation can sometimes make it challenging for a set to support its own weight. Jointed waists are also somewhat difficult to armor with a basic modular system. So on the whole I would not be surprised to wait quite a while before a simple, intuitive, versatile design for a waist joint presents itself.
  10. Sorry to say, this isn't Project Reignition either if anyone was wondering that. I figured while I'm taking pictures of that, I'll just take pictures of some other MOCs I haven't posted yet, so I thought of these guys. Normally I don't build with Hero Factory besides an armor piece or two on a MOC somewhere, but I decided to try it out, and these two guys came out of it. Enjoy: Jason BlizzardEveryone on high alert! The evil criminal Frostbyte has broken out of Hero Factory prison and must be captured before he can siphon all heat out of Fabulox 18, creating a new ice age on the desert planet! We're sending in Jason Blizzard, newly equipped with ski blades and a force blaster to stop him! He'll be able to travel quickly over the ice and get Frostbyte behind bars! Yeah, that was my attempt at a LEGO-style description for him. Anyways,FrontThe inspiration for this guy mainly came from a Gali MOC I saw somewhere that used an interesting connection on the feet you'll see later, and I thought "Hey, I could put something on there!" and ended up slapping Breakout Breez's blades on there as Kopaka-Nuva-esque skis. Then I just built up with what I had, and decided to try out a custom torso on that awesome 1.0 torso piece. He didn't turn out too bad. Equipped BladesAlso like Kopaka Nuva, I figured out his skis can detach from his feet and make a sword-like thing for him. His ski pole also moves to the top of his gun, his feet are changed back to the regular attachment, and voila! Hands (or tentacles, or claws, or whatever) up!Just a quick pose for fun. SkeletonMostly so you can see the torso design and partially how the skis attach. There's not much else to see here. Ski AttachmentFinally how those things attach! It's pretty simple, I'm surprised I didn't think of it earlier (although I never use those feet anyways.) Now, what's this? Some kind of giant turtle? My expeditions have taken me far, but I've never seen anything like it. You know it's kinda...oh no, RUN! "Don't you dare call me cute!!" So, yeah. It's a vicious...swamp warrior...thingy. I tried to think of something to call it, but nothing came to mind. Basically, my little brother got Ogrum recently, and after seeing Aanchir's cute little Bogwaddle (scroll to the bottom of the post), I knew I had to try using that face. I eventually used almost exclusively Ogrum's pieces (I don't think the ball joint or small socket under his hood are from him, but you'll see that in a sec) to put this guy together.Storywise, this is a Swamp Warrior found on a distant planet who uses his (I'm not even sure if it's a guy, or even has a gender) staff and crystal boots (boost running speed and jump height) to defend his village from the threats of the swamp in which they live. YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!It's rather hard to see here, but those Piraka Spines flow really nicely with those Savage Planet claw pieces on the shoulders. His lovely smile "At least you didn't say cute." I really love that face. Hood Attachment In case you were curious. The shoulder armor attaches to the top of the Brain Attack head and the ball joint to make a shell-like hood that looks pretty good. I may try it somewhere else. Also shows that nice flow of the shoulder armor I mentioned earlier. Hope you enjoyed, I still have a few smaller MOCs I want to post, and I'll be finishing up pics of Project Reignition during that time. There's a lot of pictures to be taken, and the good camera died right in the middle, and I still can't find the charger.
  11. Along with LEGO Friends pics and some LEGO City pics, high-res pictures for the upcoming Legends of Chima constraction sets were recently put on cache.LEGO.com:70200 CHI LavalPackage70201 CHI ErisPackage70202 CHI GorzanPackage70203 CHI CraggerPackage70204 CHI WorrizPackage70205 CHI RazarPackageEach set will cost $14.99 USD, and each set has between 55 and 68 pieces. What are your thoughts? Overall, I'm very impressed. The models are cohesive, well-armored (at least half of the figures have back armor, and only Cragger has any armorless limb beams, which he uses for stylistic reasons), well-armed (none of the sets use a paw/claw as a substitute for a weapon, and all those with paws have fingers to hold their weapons), and imaginative. Naturally a lot of this detail comes at a cost -- they're a bit pricier than a typical medium-sized Hero Factory figure -- but in my opinion it's well worth it.
  12. All right, well this is the first time I ever set up a topic like this, so bear with me. Hello, everyone, I'm here with some pieces and items that I feel I no longer have a need or use for, so I'm going to put them up for trade. Before we get to that, I want to point out that a part of this is actually a continuation of a deal originally started in this topic: http://www.bzpower.com/board/index.php?showtopic=8257&hl= Long story short, we already made a deal on some of the pieces that I have up for grabs. Ergo, some of the pieces in the pictures in my gallery are spoken for, so I will post up a list of those pieces. Most likely, I will post up a new updated gallery, but for now here is the basic bulk of it. I'm not going to ship internationally, so my deepest apologies to anyone from out of the United States who views this topic, but as I said I'm still very new to this whole process and shipping in general. Gallery Folder For now, here is the gallery folder, but it isn't public as of right now. Skip to this post for the updated list: http://www.bzpower.com/board/index.php?showtopic=9384&p=535409 http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/texaskid92/Trades/dscf5214.jpghttp://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/texaskid92/Trades/dscf5215.jpghttp://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/texaskid92/Trades/dscf5216.jpghttp://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/texaskid92/Trades/dscf5219.jpghttp://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/texaskid92/Trades/dscf5220.jpghttp://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/texaskid92/Trades/dscf5221.jpghttp://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/texaskid92/Trades/dscf5222.jpghttp://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/texaskid92/Trades/dscf5223.jpghttp://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/texaskid92/Trades/dscf5224.jpghttp://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/texaskid92/Trades/dscf5225.jpg And a list of the pieces that are spoken for or aren't up for grabs any longer: 1 Toa Metru Body (blue) (I didn't see this one has bit of wear and tear on it)1 Toa Metru Body (brown) (also has a bit of wear and tear on it)1 Toa Metru Body (green) (same as other two) 1 Green MiruBrown AkakuRed PakariLight Blue RauOrange HunaTan KomauLime Green KomauLime Green MahikiLime Green HunaTan MahikiTan MatatuLight Gray MatatuLight Gray RauOrange MatatuPurple PakariLight Blue Pakari + Jala Thok Spine 589 (1)619 (1)3 Silver Launchers1 White LaunchersGaaki Launcher piece (dkblue thing, the actual launcher is still available)two white headstwo brown bohrok feetMakuta Tube pieceLehvak Kal Krana Kal Everything else is fair game. For the most part, I'm kind of looking to trade but I'm also okay with buying/selling. All right, for those who wish to buy, just make your best offer. For example, I'm pretty much going for $1 per mask. Also, there are a few things i'm going to add sometime in the future. I'm going to add 2 Bionicle comics, the Ignition 1 and 2. And then I'm still unsure of how this works, but I've seen people sell things like transformers and video games on here. If so, then I may/may not have some stuff like that to offer as well. If anyone could let me know how that works, I would be very glad to know. For trades, what I really want would be the Lego Minifigures. I recently got into collecting them thanks to a friend. That said, virtually anything from when they first started to right now is fair game. There's a few that I do have and I will make note of those. I also have some on the way from the before-mentioned trade. For minifigures, I would say about 3 "normal" parts would be fine (eg, 3 masks for one figure), unless it's a smaller part, in which case this would change to something like 4-5 parts depending on what a person wants. There are some sets and pieces I would also be wanting to trade for, mostly from the Phantoka/Mistika era of Bionicle. And also, I'm still somewhat fuzzy on how this works as it isn't exactly Bionicle, but for any Hasbro fans, I'm also into the Kreon microchangers and I'm always looking for those. So I guess safe to say there's a few things I'm willing to trade for. I also have an extra Crankstart kreon, for example, but he's not pictured here. Like I said, though, I'll make sure to update what exactly is up for grabs. Be sure to let me know if you see anything and if we can work something out. *Key:SoldRecalledOn hold/ Reserved
  13. Hey, BZPower. Sorry for not being too active this past month. Life's been kind of crazy for me. I suppose before I jump into talking about fun things like MOCs, I should get the important stuff out of the way. School has not been going well for me. I'm in my second semester studying Industrial Design, but my classes have really been a huge source of anxiety, which has at times been crippling for me. I have a couple weeks left here in Boston, but after that I'm going to take a semester off to get some counseling and therapy, perhaps try and get a job, and take time to re-evaluate my life goals, which may not be attainable through the path I'm currently on even if I can get my emotions in check. Now, I've gotten slight relief from various opportunities to visit with family and friends. As I announced in my last entry, I went to Cloudsdale Congress over Spring Break, and it was a phenomenal experience. I definitely plan to attend other My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fan conventions in the future, because it was really fun and eye-opening (giving me the chance to interact with dozens of other bronies as well as to explore areas of the fandom I hadn't yet indulged in, like the fan music). I roomed with some bronies from my hometown, and I look forward to attending some meetups with them over the summer -- they're very fun people! After the convention I had some time to burn before my mom could pick me up and take me home, so I visited the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. On the way there, I happened to be on the subway with some of the folks from the fan project Double Rainboom, including PKEmi, who voiced Rainbow Dash (A bit of warning, I still haven't seen Double Rainboom, since I'm going to a meetup in Boston to see it tomorrow, so don't spoil it in the comments). We all had a great conversation, and Emi and I have managed to connect via social networks since then, which is great. Always nice to make a lasting connection at an event like this. I spent just a couple days at home before I had to go down to North Carolina to visit my Nana, who has been in the hospital for a few weeks after having a fall. It was good to visit her, even though I'm worried about her. Then I took a plane from New Bern to Hartford, where my uncle from Connecticut picked me up to stay with him for a few days. My aunt and uncle have a fifteen-month-old baby who's a joy to spend time with, and it was great to spend the next couple days there before getting on the bus to get back to school. Since then I spent last weekend with my aunt and uncle again to celebrate my birthday (March 29) and Easter, and I got to see them and my baby cousin once more just last night when my aunt came up to Boston for a conference. It's so wonderful watching my baby cousin grow up and learn to explore the world, and I hope even over the summer when I'm not as close by I can still find time to visit them. Now, as far as LEGO is concerned, I've mostly been working with LEGO Digital Designer lately, since that had a considerable update recently. Most notably, it includes over 600 new decorations, including almost every decoration from Collectible Minifigures series 1-8! However, as is often the case, these were not mapped to the parts that use them in the software's code, meaning that I had to edit them into LXFML files myself. You can download my LXF of Minifigures Series 1-9 here. Note that parts from Series 1-8 which could not be decorated correctly are colored 294 Phosphorescent Green to differentiate them, and that some decoration surfaces like the Small Clown's hat and all decorated minifigure arms distort the decorations placed on them. Additionally, I recently got some major progress reverse-engineering the stunning Hero Factory MOC by Christoffer Raundahl which I mentioned in this entry. You can see my results here: LXF Download Errors include six parts left off of the arms (two shells due to an illegal connection and four hoses due to being too fiddly and frustrating to connect correctly), four substitutions (the custom head, the square shell detail elements on the heels, and the speaker shell detail element on the chest), four parts within the torso build not connected correctly (the shoulder suspension beams, which were giving me a lot of grief, and the hoses that connect the legs to the torso), and finally some parts potentially missing from the back, including whatever parts are meant to connect the wings to the back -- sadly, I do not have any pics of the back of this MOC. The final model would probably contain around 225 pieces and cost $50-60 as a retail model. I have managed to build a considerable portion of this model (the torso, one leg, and one upper arm) in real life to ensure that fiddly parts like the arm and leg suspension work correctly, and it's just as brilliant in its design as I imagined. It has, among other things, revealed to me just how narrow-minded I have been in envisioning uses for the 3M double ball cup (98565) introduced in Stormer XL, since despite its few connection points this piece is an invaluable structural element. Truly I would love to see this model, or a similar model derived from its design, as an official set. Anyway, that's enough rambling for today. Overall, I'm doing my best to maintain a positive outlook and take each week one day at a time. It's been a bit rough but I'm confident that once I'm back home I will have plenty of time to work on putting myself back together and finding a path I'm willing to pursue.
  14. Hello Everyone! As I'm low on money, and my storage space is being taken away, I thought I'd sell my collection. 15. Howdy y'all - This is just a little something I made a few months that I've finally gotten around to taking pictures. Click on each thumbnail to see the full picture. ---------------------------------------- My original idea was to create a skeleton out of Hero Factory pieces, since the set designers of this (then) new building system said that's what they wanted to do. I knew I wanted to use the Witch Doctor's head as a skull, but at some point while I was building I heard one of my sisters listening to a certain song from The Princess and the Frog (you know the one, admit it ), and then it hit me: why not create a Louisiana-style Witch Doctor? I then started working on a cane and top hat, and I think they both turned out pretty well. Here's some inspiration that came to mind before I started and while I was building (again, please click on the thumbnails to see the [pun]bigger picture[/pun]: Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog (Duh) Gigabyte from Reboot (Just for the one hand. I picture it as an energy-sucking hand, like Gigabyte had) Jack Skellington from Nightmare before Christmas (I think this one's little obvious) Sachiel the Third Angel from Neon Genesis Evangellion (Oh gosh, I absolutely regret watching as much of this series as I did, I completely wasted my time on it, but I couldn't help but think of this) Spider-man's Symbiote Suit Thanks for looking and don't hesitate to post your thoughts.

  20. How this will work: I am basing the price off of what I originally payed (or what the original set price would be). I am willing to discuss however. Tell me if you’d like it completely disassembled or partially disassembled (what most of them are now) I will tape up the box after ensuring I’m sending you a complete set with everything it came with initially Message me your address and I will tell you what shipping will be with or without a tracking number I will only ship after receiving payment Why am I selling? 22. Well, it turns out Kit Martello didn't perform too well in the BBC contest, only getting around seven votes in the first round of polling. I don't feel too bad about not winning, since there was a lot of talent in the contest, but it still bothers me that most of my feedback concerning Kit has been largely negative. Regardless, I think Sparkytron's Eris is due a round of congratulations for emerging victorious in the final poll. There are several things I dislike about this MOC, particularly the stand, but it's still a work of art in the end. In other MOCing news, I've posted a topic of my various tablescraps over the past few months. Now, I don't mean "tablescraps" in a negative sense. I'm quite proud of these, and none of them are bare-bones Heromods. But compared to Kit Martello these were all fairly simple endeavors. I anticipate bringing Kit Martello and some of these MOCs (particularly my good buddy Bogwaddle) to Brickfair Virginia this year. I'm hoping to continue modding some of these in the meantime, and perhaps scrapping some of the more basic ones to open those pieces back up for experimentation. One set I've been hoping to get lately, both for its MOCing potential and for its brilliance as a model, is 70500 Kai's Fire Mech from the Ninjago line. But frustratingly, none of the stores around where I'm attending college seem to have it. Still, I'm keeping a sharp lookout for it, and will not be afraid to get it online if double VIP points happen before I find it in a brick-and-mortar store. So that's what's up on the LEGO/MOCing side of things. Schoolwork and other obligations have been keeping me from dedicating long stretches of time to MOCing or building, but I've recently started making progress on my drawing assignments again so hopefully I can get caught up fairly soon.
  23. In addition to Kit Martello, I've built a number of smaller Hero Factory MOCs over the past several months. I figure it's about time I shared some of them. None are quite as impressive or well-refined as Kit, but I chose to photograph these because they use some clever techniques and I'm quite proud of them. The first two MOCs are digital, the rest made with physical bricks.Alternate views of most of the MOCs in this topic can be viewed in the Flickr gallery. All images below link to larger versions. Brimstone I built Brimstone with LEGO Digital Designer last semester as an experiment in certain armor combinations, particularly the Super Heroes chest piece and the 1.0 Hero Factory torso beam. She is supposed to be female, although that may not be apparent due to her generic mask and wide shoulders. All the parts are in colors that they are available for purchase in, though I've had some fun experimenting with alternate color palettes and layering. Hero Factory Canine Buddy This was another digital experiment I started last semester, this time in creating a "police dog" companion to scale with a small or medium hero figure. He uses 25 pieces and is the sort of figure I'd love to see as a set at a "Matoran-like" size and price point, if that were to be reintroduced. In fact, even throwing him in with a small Hero set and pushing the set up to a price point of $12.99 wouldn't bother me. Natalie Breez After building the MOC that would become Kit Martello, I wanted to attempt a smaller, more basic figure. The head doesn't suit this helmet or the MOC's color scheme, but several of my Glatorian heads broke as I was packing my sets up for storage last semester and as such I have been trying to use the new, less fragile head piece whenever possible. Cyril Starlight Having built an couple decent female MOCs, I wanted to experiment with some of the parts and techniques that were ill-suited to female characters, such as Drilldozer's torso/shoulder shell or the two 2.0 torso shells used back-to-back. Cyril was the result. His shield technically uses illegal connections, since the Technic angle connectors do not add up to 360º and thus are in compression. Still, I felt it fit together nicely. Poison Dart The torso design I used for Poison Dart is actually one I came up with last semester but didn't end up posting at that time. XT4's 5x6 torso beam is attached to a more basic 7x9 torso beam, creating an assortment of connection points. What I love best about this torso design is that it allows both the upper body and the lower body to be well-armored. I figured Poison Dart's waspish figure was best-suited to a villain rather than a hero or civilian, and I chose to use Toxic Reapa's head as it was ambiguously-gendered but unambiguously villainous (also, I was out of 2013 head pieces and wanted to continue avoiding Glatorian heads). Bogwaddle Finally we come to the 41-piece Bogwaddle, one of my favorite tablescraps from this semester. He started out with me simply wanting to use some of the Earth Green parts from Ogrum, but as soon as I saw how goofy and playful Ogrum's mask looked when flipped upside-down, I knew I wanted it to be the basis of my MOC. What makes Bogwaddle so appealing to me is not only his small size but also his articulation. His waist is articulated (though you can't see it very well in these pictures) so it can rock side-to-side, and his shoulders can swing back and forth. This, coupled with his light and well-distributed weight, makes it very easy and fun to put him in amusing poses.Comments, criticisms, and suggestions are all welcome! Hope there's something in this topic you like!
  24. Before we proceed, let me say that this model is NOT MINE. It was created by LEGO Group designers (EDIT: The designer was Christoffer Raundahl, one of the inventors of this building system whose BIONICLE design credits include the original Tahu and Kopaka sets), though it is most likely a MOC and not a set design (if it is an unannounced set design, though, you are free to celebrate at your leisure). The painted variant was detailed by Søren Westborg, a Danish artist who seems to specialize in painting tabletop gaming figurines, as a commission for LEGO Systems A/S. Original model (photo taken by Flickr user Teabox at LEGO World in Copenhagen) Another pic of the original model A pic of the painted version Gallery of Westborg's commissioned work (also includes a lovely painted Raw-Jaw) I've built the leg and foot of the model on LDD (minus the heel piece, which is not available on LDD) and it's quite brilliant how they go together. I hope that some of these techniques wind up in sets eventually. These models have all the complexity of Witch Doctor and then some, and yet it comes together into a model that is far more refined and cohesive in design. Truly this model demonstrates that the Hero Factory building system is far from infeasible for "titan-sized" models. It just takes some very clever use of parts and a custom skeleton to create something every bit as incredible as many of BIONICLE's greatest titan models. And of course, as far as set design is concerned, a sufficient price point and age range for such a large, complex model.
