Ballads of the Bionicle I've long been a fan of lore/character songs for my favourite franchises, but I was surprised to discover that there's not a lot of that kind of content around for Bionicle. Since I have no musical skill of my own, I started writing some lyrics and playing around with Suno AI to see what I could come up with. I was very impressed with what the AI has been able to produce, so I've decided to start uploading some of the better pieces to YouTube to share with the community. The first video went up this morning to coincide with 810NICLE Day: I know AI-generated content can be a controversial topic, so if it’s not your thing, I completely understand. I’m not trying to take anything away from the amazingly talented real musicians we have in our community. I'm creating these songs purely for fun, and make no profit from them. Free download links for the MP3s are included with each video for anyone who wants to have the songs. New tracks are scheduled to go up weekly, covering everything from the Matoran Universe, to Bara Magna, to G2, so make sure to subscribe to the channel if you're interested in hearing more. Check out the list below for direct links: Toa Nuva Song - Six Heroes, One Destiny Makuta Teridax Song - The Plan Turaga Vakama Song - A Leader's Lies Turaga Dume Song - My City Will Stand Makuta G2 Song - I'm Back! Madama Butterfly A moc based on the ending of the opera "Madama Butterfly" written by Giacomo Puccini. For the doll in the hands of the child under the tree I used a Belville Baby Boy Minifigure. 08/07/2024

I hope I don't need to get this approved =/ I was waiting for someone else to make it but no one has. Anyways, the title is pretty self-explanatory: What are you listening to at this very moment? Here's a link to the original: Archive. I am currently listening to "Goldrush" by Tiësto.

Because the Night A moc based on the song "Because the Night", I have had the idea of transposing this song into a moc form for a long time, like almost 2 years. I tried different ideas and takes, but I was never really satisfied with the end result. Until one day, I imagined the night as a sea of stars, and then everything came in a flash and the build was completed in less than 2 hours. 06/05/24

This track came out of my newly ignited love for Bionicle as a whole thanks to Essenger & Cryoshell's collab. I let my inspiration go wild, I hope you will like it as well. Audio in WAV. Bionicles.wav

Crimson King Choosing the right idea for the protagonist of the song was not easy, I wanted to create something unusual and terrifying. In the end I decided to build a "skeleton with organs" to create something creepy. In my mind, the dark red sections of the Crimson King (including the sword) are supposed to be sections of "petrified" blood. For the organs I used a variety of different colors and pieces: the stomach is a frog, the heart is a MiniDoll head, in the instestines there is a Classic Space air tank and for the brain I used dark pink Minifigures arms. For the throne I used a rather simple system build, it's shattered at the back to create the idea that someone (or something) hit the throne a long time ago to hit the one who was sitting there. 03/09/22

The Court of the Crimson King This project came about by pure chance. While building, I usually listen to music or some podcast; while I was building Inum, the song "The Court of the Crimson Ring" came on. Nothing strange happened until the song arrived to the Yellow Jester section. Somehow, the image of a strange yellow creature playing with a puppet formed in my mind and I thought "Wait, I can build a moc for this guy". And that's how it started, after the Jester came all the other characters, one after another. Crimson King Yellow Jester Pattern Juggler Black Queen Purple Piper 05/09/22

Shoot-'em-up - Rythm Heaven (DS) Rythm Heaven (DS) is a video game that I love very much, that's why I decided to make a small tribute to this game. In Shoot-'em-up, the goal to complete the mini-game is to tap the touchscreen following the rythm of the song in order to shoot at some "dangerous" aliens. To do so, you're the pilot of the Blastronaut, this white spaceship with a bright green cockpit. When you hit an alien it will explode into a ball of fire, this is what is happening to the alien on the left of the screen. 11/01/23

Yellow Jester The last character mentioned in the song "The Court of the Crimson King" by King Crimson, the Yellow Jester was the spark that inspired me to build a series of mocs following this song. The Jester is playing with a puppet, following the text description exactly. For the smiling part... he is smiling his way. For the jester's hat I used the yellow rubber piece from the Ben 10 series, Jet Ray's wings. 01/09/22

Pattern Juggler The third character in the song "The Court of the Crimson King" by King Crimson, the Pattern Juggler is the smallest of all. For the body of this creature I used Toxic Reapa's mask, the small antennae can hold a pair of balljoint eyes from the Chinese New Year sets. For the juggler's hands I used two lime kraata while the dark green ball was made by connecting two Toa Matau canister lids together. 30/08/22

Black Queen The second character from the song "The Court of the Crimson King" by King Crimson. For the queen I chose to use a different alien style, this time the character is based on an insectoid, the basic concept is an ant queen. It's a pretty simple build, the only non-black pieces being the eyes and the three T-Bars at the top of the head. To cover the lower part of the body, I used Hordika Whenua's mask. 28/08/22

Purple Piper This was the first moc in a series of five based on the song "The Court of the Crimson King" by King Crimson, the Purple Piper is the first character mentioned in this song. I wanted to create an alien fairy playing a hyper-intricate flute, for the face I used a magenta leaf and four pairs of cherries for the eyes. The magenta hands are from the Ben 10 construction line, the notes on the end of the flute are from the Trolls World Tour series. 26/08/22

ha ha! well if you've never heard ov the "Piano Man" himself, Billy Joel, who are you and why are you here? seriously! Billy Joel is a classical pop/rock legend! his piano playing skills are out ov bounds! his voice is a force to be reckoned with! and overall, he is just an amazing, talented musician! it's hard to believe he almost killed himself like twice (or three times, idk)! nope! the man is still alive and still performing concerts nationally and internationally! he has released numerous albums; studio, compilation, live, maybe an ep here and there! however, he quit releasing pop/rock albums after 1993's River of Dreams! that's kinda sad but hey! at least he's still alive! you'd have to be stupid to not appreciate the fact that he is still alive and well! he has way too many hit song! too many to remember (lol)! my most favorite song from BJ is "We Didn't Start The Fire" from 1989's Storm Front! that album is awesome! i also love The Nylon Curtain from 1982! if you want to know more about Billy Joel please visit the wikipedia page; there is A LOT to go through! lol now here's my big question; are there any Billy Joel fans on BZPower (besides me and Black Six)? also here's a few questions to consider: what's your fav. Billy Joel song? what's your fav. Billy Joel album? what do you like most about Billy Joel? well i hope ya'll enjoyed reading this topic cuz i'v been wanting to create it for a while! lol if you want to discuss about Billy Joel this is the topic to discuss about him at! anyways, enjoy your day and... for the love ov Christ go listen to some Billy Joel music! it's awesome!

I haven't done one of these in awhile mostly because I don't visit this site that often anymore, but also because I only have four of these and I've covered three of them already in this blog (find them all here). The three I've already covered I found circa 2011 and had a lot of fun with them in high school, but this new one I found years later (maybe 2016) on deviantart from user Amei-San. It is a little longer than the others (25 questions) so if time or playlist size is an issue keep that in mind. Either way, since I haven't used this one much (or done any of these in awhile if we're being real) why not use my Favorite Songs of 2021 Playlist? The Fourth Music Quiz: 1. If someone stole your favorite item, what would you yell out of anger? “Cry Little Sister” – CHVRCHES (OK, that is funny, not super appropriate, but funny) 2. You trip and fall in front of your crush, they say: “The Very First Night (Taylor’s Version)” – Taylor Swift (No comment I guess?) 3. A moment of disappointment hits you, what do you mutter? “Harshest Critic” – Alison Ponthier (Oof, that’s almost too perfect) 4. If you could have anything in the world, what would it be? “Crash and Burn” – Maggie Lindemann (Well, that could actually happen so…) 5. What's the best way to describe your closest friend? “Inferno” – Sub Urban; Bella Poarch (Hey a BIONICLE book title, not bad) 6. Best movie of all time? “Love Took Her For a Ride” – Bella Goldwin (Sounds like a movie title, but not for a good movie) 7. Best make-out spot to take someone? “brutal” – Olivia Rodrigo (No comment, next) 8. A song that would play during a wicked torturing of your enemies? “Whatever It Takes” – Zyra (NO MERCY) 9. A theme song that would play every time your parent(s) enter a room? “Nothing” – Jetty Bones (Not feeling it) 10. You're walking home and you find 20 bucks, what you say? “Conman” – Shima; Sumire (Yes, this is very sussy) 11. Your Theme song? “Player of Games” – Grimes (That’s funny if you remember I used to be active in Games and Trivia, but doesn’t really fit now) 12. The end of the world is near, your reaction? “Everyone Is Disappointing” – ari hicks (Wow) 13. A good song to kill to? “Creep” – carolesdaughter (Double wow) 14. Someone broke your heart, what will you do now? “Flux” – Poppy (That is actually kind of fitting) 15. Your make-out song? “virtual reality” – Renforshort (starting to get the feeling either the quiz or my playlist is trying to make me feel bad) 16. You punch someone in the face, what do they cry out? “Burning Bridges” – Sigrid (No comment) 17. A rock is thrown through your window with a note on it. It says? “IH8EVERY1” – Sarah Barrios (Yeah, I got the message) 18. Someone compliments you on something, your reply? “Bonnie & Clyde” – YUQI (Meh) 19. What does the world and everyone in it think of you? “I Don’t Wanna Be Touched” – Meredith Bull (By me? Ow) 20. An opening fight scene song? “All I Ever Wanted” – Claire Ridgely (Meh) 21. If you were one of the 7 deadly sins... which would you be? “Rumors” – Maria Domark (The odds of it being one of the actually sins was pretty low I think) 22. Your favorite bedtime story? “Build A @#$%&” – Bella Poarch (No comment, but dang it now I got censor this) 23. The song you'll make your husband/wife dance to when you get married? “I Just Needed You” – Pale Waves (OK, not bad) 24. You and a friend are trapped on an island, how will you decide leadership? “Time Of My Life” – UPSAHL (What?) 25. How will people remember you when you're dead and gone? “Ghost In Me” – Darla Jade (It fits, but I don’t think it should) Favorites: 1, 6, 12, 13, 14, 17, 19

...'Cause I would have played them non-stop. So, needless to say, I wasn't a very happy teenager in high school and back then (as is still true today) when I feel sad or down I tend to listen to sad songs to cope and every once in a while I come across a song that make me thing, "Wow, I really wish I had this song back in high school." Although being honest, my music tastes were a lot more narrow back then so I'm entirely sure if I would have liked these songs even if I had heard them at the time, but regardless here's a short list of the songs I wish had existed in high school. (Also, I've still never learned how to use code so get ready for giant screen stretching videos.) “Normal” – Sasha Sloan Choice Lyrics: "So keep on playing that song that I don't like I just wanna feel normal for the night Keep on kissing that guy that's not my type I just wanna feel normal for the night." Gotta start with a song from the sad girl herself. This song is from early 2018 and I discovered almost the day it dropped. The desire to want to change bits of who you are or to like things that you wouldn't normally in order to gain some level of acceptance by others is, of course, a quintessential part of high school and is actually still something I really connect with to this day so this is a song I've listened to quite a lot. “Nobody Asked Me (If I Was Okay)” – Sky Ferreira Choice lyrics: "Nobody asked me if I was okay No, no, no, no, no, no, no Nobody asked if I was okay," Cheating a little bit, 'cause this song was released in 2013 when I was still in high school, but obviously I wasn't listening to Sky Ferreira back then. Anyway, is this song repetitive and super on the nose? Yes. But, that does that mean that I don't like it and wouldn't have sung along so hard to it back in the day? Karzahni no. “Jesus Christ” – Luna Shadows Choice lyrics: "Or do I divide and fall apart Cause my bright is too slight to hold back all my dark," Alright, to kept it straight. This song was released in late 2017, I didn't start listening to it until early this year while I was on a super Luna Shadows kick, but the song itself is actually a cover of a song from 2004 so yeah, that's that. The funny thing about this one, is that I think what I connect to the most in the lyrics now is different then what I would have connected to when I was younger, which is some interesting food for thought I guess. “mad at God” – Sarah Saint James Choice lyrics: "No I don’t wanna be bitter, or come across as a quitter But I’m getting kinda tired I’m mad at God Causе if he exists why do I still feel like this?" So this song, is actually pretty new and what made me want to do this blog entry in the first place. Other than that, I don't know what else to say about this one, 'cause like Sky Ferreira's song it is pretty self-explanatory I think. Perhaps something funny to mention is it that I mostly listened to Christian music back in high school and I'm pretty sure that this song would not have gone over well with Christian music fans either then or today. And that's my short list. Share in the comments below if you can relate to anything in this entry or maybe share some songs that got you through high school. -JAG

Hey guys, I'm Skip, and I make Bionicle music. A couple months ago I talked with a few other music producers about what the original elements of Bionicle would sound like. Eventually, this conversation turned into a project, and that project turned into this. Mata Nui: The Music Chronicle is. ‘a tribute to the original 2001-2003 era of Bionicle Gen 1, that introduced so many fans into the world of Bionicle.’ With 10 tracks in total, ranging from across the island and world of Mata Nui, this album seeks to capture that nostalgic MNOG feeling in all of us. Give it a listen if you’re interested, and please share it with others, cheers!

I hope to one day finish my Naming Day fanfic, but in the meantime, check out my electronic, dance-friendly medley of BIONICLE music! Complete with a slideshow! Youtube link I'm an amateur music producer, so I very much welcome constructive criticism about how I can improve the mix. But I must say, I'm pretty happy with how I managed to combine two of the rock songs in the final chorus

Following up on my last entry here is another music questionnaire this one asking the question, "If your life were a movie what would the soundtrack be?" I'll go ahead and say that this one was rougher than most of these questionnaires I've done and that's saying something. Either way, here's mine, go ahead and leave yours in the comments if you want. 1. Opening Credits: “Flood My Mind” – Ivy Levan (ehhhh) 2. Waking Up: “I Think I Love It” – Alexandra Stan (That is not at all like my usual reaction to waking up) 3. First Day at School: “The Man” – Taylor Swift (No comment) 4. Falling In Love: “She Weirdo” – She Nova (Well, I guess beggars can’t be choosers) 5. First Fight Scene: “My Love” – Anna of the North (is that who I’m fighting for? In which case this sort of makes sense…) 6. Breaking Up: “I Like Myself (Most of the Time)” – K.Flay (I guess after a break-up I do need to feel good about myself) 7. Prom “1, 2, 3 dayz up” – Kim Petras; SOPHIE (fun, danceable song so I guess it fits) 8. Life “Don’t Call Me Up” – Mabel (no comment) 9. Mental Breakdown “Strawberry Shortcake” – Melanie Martinez (WHAT WAS IN THAT CAKE?!) 10. Driving: “There Will Be Blood” – Kim Petras (Oh dear Mata Nui no) 11. Flashback: “wish you were gay” – Billie Eilish (I think this one almost fits the story) 12. Getting Back Together: “Ready Set Let’s Go” – KOYOTIE (eh, fine) 13. Wedding: “Just a Boy” – Olivia O’Brien (worst one yet) 14. Birth of Child: “Insomnia” – Daya (no, no, no that’s what comes AFTER they’re born) 15. Final Fight Scene: “That Call It Love” – KOYOTIE (love hurts) 16. Death Scene “You and I” – Owl Eyes (A little too upbeat for a death scene) 17. Funeral: “Mother’s Daughter” – Miley Cyrus (OK, let’s just finish this) 18. Ending Credits: “Ghost 2 U” – Jinka (Could have been worse) Favorites: 2, 4, 9, 14

This is something I've enjoyed doing for years since I first got it from this ten year old blog entry; basically, you take a list of questions, set your Ipod (or any Spotify/Apple playlist) on shuffle and answer each question with whatever song you get. The songs usually make no sense as answers, but it has always been a fun past time. I have a word document that I've been filling with these since 2012, but the last one I did was apparently in 2017 so here's one I did a couple of nights ago (using my best songs of 2018 playlist). Give it a try if you want. Back To The Future: I. What will I dream about tonight? “Outlaws” – Au/Ra (ooh, sounds risky and dangerous and fun) II. What song best describes my love life? “The Medicine Does Not Control Me” – EURINGER featuring Grimes (I don’t like the sound of that.) III. What is my life’s ambition? “Loveless” – Lila Gold (Um, mission accomplished? I think.) IV. Who is my greatest hero? “Deliverance” – CHVRCHES (Deliverance does sound like a cool fantasy character name…) V. What do I want right now? “I Love My Boyfriend” – Princess Chelsea (Well, it almost works because we’ve already covered my love life, but…) VI. What is my dream job? “Side Effects” – The Chainsmokers; Emily Warren (My dream job is a side effect?) VII. Where does my future best friend live? “no tears left to cry” – Ariana Grande (Uh?) VIII. What song fits me the best? “Sweet but Psycho” – Ava Max (This made me laugh, but I’m still a little offended.) IX. What is the real answer to life, the universe, and everything? “Focus” – Allie X (Did you just finish watching “Priest”?) X. What should I definitely not eat? “High Horse” – Kacey Musgraves (No comment) XI. How will I die? “Third Eye” – Emma Blackery (This either has something to do with that Martian episode in the original “Twilight Zone” or Combustion Man from “Avatar” either way not good). XII. What will people say at my funeral? “CEASE AND DESIST” – Alice Glass (I like it). XIII. How will my grandchildren feel about me? “Girl of the Year” – Allie X (Kids these days). XIV. Who loves me right now? “Over My Head” – Echosmith (I had to resist the urge to look up). XV. What is my true identity? “Heartbroken” – Fickle Friends (Ok, I wasn’t sure before, but now I know this list is trying to hurt my feelings). XVI. Who or what is my greatest foe? “This Time Around” – Jaira Burns (In the context of the song, that almost makes sense). XVII. Aliens just teleported me out of my computer chair in a swirl of blue sparkles what happens next!? “Mulholland” – Sizzy Rocket (That teleported me to a highway? Alright then.) XVIII. Any last words? “Everybody Wants To Be Famous” – Superorganism (I’ll take it.) Favorites: 5, 8, 12

BIONICLE Flashback: The Sounds of Summer 2001
Bionicle Guru posted a blog entry in BIONICLE Ain't Dead to Me
I was driving to visit my mom this past weekend and over the course of the two hours on the highway, I tuned into SiriusXM's "Pop2K" station. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that they were doing a countdown of the top 30 songs for this week in 2001. As I listened, I was instantly transported back to August 2001, just as my seventh grade school year was starting. Just like the Toa, I was about to enter a strange, new world filled with challenges and potential new friends. Music has always been an essential part of BIONICLE, from the ambient, techno-tribal sounds of the island of Mata Nui to the pop rock infused chords of the "Ignition" Saga. But even outside of BIONICLE media, other music played a strong role in my associations with the time periods in which BIONICLE was extant. No other time period is perhaps so poignant now, looking back, than in August 2001. Remember, at this point, BIONICLE was in wide release. In the USA, store shelves were filled with Toa canisters, Turaga boxes, mask packs, and assorted Rahi sets. In a few weeks, the McDonald's Tohunga give-away with Happy Meals was to begin. And of course, the BIONICLE storyline was in high gear with new updates in the MNOG and the recent July comic, "Deep Into Darkness". Back to the music, the summer of 2001 was revelatory for me. I grew up in a household where my parents had so far dominated the musical tastes of the family. At home, we either listened to classical music on the radio or, when just my mom was home, Spanish music which I understood little of at the time. On road trips to visit grandmother or longer vacation adventures, my dad would play the oldies' station (hits of the 50s, 60s, and 70s) or, when we had a car with a CD player, his own collection of Beatles' songs. That was pretty much all I knew music to be. Current pop music was relegated to furtive, almost risque, encounters through friends at school. An illicit listen to "M.en In Black" by Will Smith on the bus ride home from school. A friend bringing the new "Astro Lounge" CD to class on Friday for free time. I was never allowed to hear such music on my own at home or with family. There was a weird separation there, enforced by my parents. However, it couldn't last long. By the summer of 2001, I was twelve years old and adolescence was upon me. Instead of the usual mom-administered enrichment activities, my intention to learn HTML coding for the "Build Your Own BIONICLE Website" contest proved to my parents I had undertaken a worthy, educational project of my own, and I was mostly left to my own devices that summer for the first time. Indeed, most of that time was spent reading the HTML textbook and trying out new things with my developing "Tales of the Turaga" website. However, I allowed myself ample free time, particularly in the evenings, to indulge in my other hobby, drawing. I'm not sure when I decided to start listening to music while I drew. Perhaps I did it to softly drown out the noise of my parents watching something boring (but loud) in the living room. It seemed easier to draw when I didn't have TV distractions. But music, especially songs, seemed to bolster my abilities. In my room, I had a small AM/FM radio with cassette player that I started tuning to some of the radio stations besides the oldies'. Although some of the stuff I heard was unremarkable to my ears, other songs stuck out. Songs that reminded of what I heard on my sister's "NOW 5" and "NOW 6" CDs (she, somehow, was allowed to explore music more broadly, and even had a bigger radio, WITH a CD player!) that I knew I enjoyed. Invariably, these songs accompanied some of my first BIONICLE drawings, and when I think about BIONICLE or look back at those crude depictions, I remember the songs I heard back then. Here are some if you want to make a playlist to travel back in time to when BIONICLE was brand new (no Vahi required!). Eve 6 - Here's to the Night Train - Drops of Jupiter Lifehouse - Hanging by a Moment Mary J. Blige - Family Affair Incubus - Drive Michelle Branch - Everywhere Staind - It's Been Awhile Janet Jackson - Someone to Call My Lover Uncle Kracker - Follow Me Sugar Ray - When It's Over Obviously, that's not an all-inclusive list. Mixed in were songs that actually came out the year before (like Matchbox 20's "Mad Season", which is still a favorite of mine), but I don't remember everything I heard, and it is likely I conflate some songs that I actually heard once school started but not during the summer nights that preceded it. Regardless, the music I was discovering and BIONICLE "officially" beginning in the USA all went into a benevolent maelstrom that also included the premiere of "Samurai Jack", the announcement of "Attack of the Clones", the first LEGO Legend re-release (10000 Guarded Inn!), and my first taste of true independence (walking alone to and from school). By this week in August 2001, all signs pointed to a momentous school year ahead. Indeed, as September 2001 proved, it would be momentous, but for the whole nation, and not in a good way. But again, like the Toa isolated on the island of Mata Nui, thinking it was their whole world, me and my friends were united in facing the challenges of seventh grade, and that was plenty momentous enough! Attached: "Lewa", pencil on copy paper, August 8th, 2001.
